Thanks to Melinda for my gorgeous banner!! Hi everyone!! For all of you who read this at the Source, it's going to be different at some parts. Starting at Chapter Eighteen. For the rest of you who are new to this story, I hope you enjoy it!! It's probably my favorite that I've written. Enjoy!! Chapter One She was in her kitchen cooking dinner. Two men barged into the house holding guns. She tried to run but they had already spotted her. She was shot in the back and left to die. The two men ran out the back door. Shots rang through the quiet town. People ran to the house. She found her dead lying on the ground, blood everywhere. She shielded the infant’s eyes from her mother’s lifeless body. She knew of only one thing to do. She had to take the baby to her father. She didn’t know what had happened or why, but she knew that she couldn’t take care of a baby. She dashed to her house to gather a few supplies. She found a note that her cousin had given her to mail; but, she never did. She ran to the bus stop, afraid that the men who murdered her cousin would recognize her car. She boarded a bus headed to the airport, then to America; more importantly, Port Charles, New York. She was going to see Dillon Quartermaine. It was time he knew he had a daughter. *Flashback* Georgie, what are you doing here? I came to apologize to you because I accused you of being all about sex and then I thought, "No, wait, that's not fair. Dillon has always been very honest with me. I mean, maybe I should trust him." That's pretty pathetic isn't it? No. No, it's not. Save it, Dillon. I don't want to hear it! I made a mistake. No, I don't want to hear it, ok? I will never trust you again! Don't ever talk to me again, don't ever call me, don't ever write me and if you even pass me on the street, don't bother saying hello! We -- we are so over, Dillon. And he just stood there. *End Flashback* Dillon woke up from his dream and looked around his room in the apartment, breathing heavily. That was the worse day of his life. A day he would always regret. He hated Sage Alcazar for seducing him. He hated his mother for manipulating Georgie. He hated himself for falling for their plan. But to his amazement everyday, Georgie had forgiven Dillon over time. Their problems were in the past now. They loved each other more than life. Even though she was a senior in high school, they knew that there relationship would last longer than most marriages in Port Charles. And Sage was gone. She left soon after Christmas break. Georgie had figured she had gotten bored with Port Charles; Dillon thought differently. He was going to question her uncle but; he never got the chance. Lorenzo Alcazar had died in a mob war. Soon after Dillon slept with Sage, he planned to leave the Quartermaine’s and never go back. His cousin Emily had helped him. She talked to her brother and Dillon moved into his penthouse with Sam, his sister-in-law. Dillon’s life was complete. Dillon and Georgie sat together in each other’s arms on the leather couch in Jason, Sam, and Dillon’s apartment. They were watching Roman Holiday, Georgie’s favorite, on their ten month anniversary. The night began with dinner at the Cellar followed, by a stroll through the park, dessert at Kelly’s and finally on the couch. “The end,” Dillon whispered when the movie was over. He looked down and found Georgie asleep. He kissed her forehead and closed his eyes. He was about to drift off to sleep when he heard a knock at the door. Thinking it was Sonny; he got up and walked over to open it. There standing was a tall, slender woman, who looked like she was no more than twenty. She was holding a baby in a bassinet, which was sleeping soundly. He looked at her and then at the woman. He closed the penthouse door behind him. “Can I help you?” he asked quietly trying not to wake Georgie. “Are you Dillon Quartermaine?” she asked. “Yes, yes I am. Can I help you with something?” “Yes, I don’t have long, but this is Emelia. We called her Mia. She is in grave danger with me. Please take good care of her and love her. Everything is explained in the note in her bassinet. I have to go,” The woman walked down the hall and disappeared into the stairwell. Dillon was stunned. He looked into the bassinet and grabbed the letter. He carefully opened it. Dear Dillon,
You are probably reading this now completely shocked to have heard from me. When we slept together, I became pregnant. We have a beautiful daughter named Emelia Isabel Rosalina Quartermaine. I call her Mia. I am writing this to you as I hold her in my arms in the hospital. She looks so much like you. She has my brown hair and your spikes. She has your eyes. I moved to Italy and am living with my cousin Margaret. Margaret helps me baby-sit when I am working or at school. Uncle Lorenzo set up an account with his money in it when he died in my name. Mia and I get by fine. I am sorry I didn’t have the guts to stick around and tell you to your face. I knew you loved Georgie and not me. I didn’t want to be burdened to you.
Love always, SageHe dropped the letter on the floor and stood there stunned.

Chapter Two
Dillon looked down at the sleeping baby.
Emelia
She looked so innocent and peaceful. Thoughts were spinning through Dillon’s head. What was he going to do? How was he going to be able to take care of another life when he could barely take care of himself? What was going to happen when he had to work?
And what about Georgie? How was he going to tell her and how would she react? He couldn’t lose her again. He had finally gotten her back and he wasn’t going to let her go.
He had to leave.
He had to clear his head.
He knew it wasn’t good to leave the baby there but he had to think.
He put the envelope back in the bassinet and picked the baby up and rang Sonny’s penthouse doorbell. Dillon heard a rustle inside the penthouse when Carly answered the door. “Dillon? What’s wrong? Why are you holding a baby?” she looked at him confused.
“Carly, I can’t explain right now! Can you just please watch her until I get back? A lady came by and gave her to me. Everything is explained in the letter in the bassinet. Please don’t tell Georgie if she comes over here looking for me. Tell her I got called to a job with Sonny, ok? Please?”
Carly nodded her head. “Ok, go. I’ll take care of her,” Dillon gave an appreciated look and he walked out of the penthouse.
Carly carried the sleeping baby into the penthouse and set her bassinet on the floor by the sofa. She took out the envelope and read it. She gasped when she found out that the baby was Dillon’s. She knew from Georgie what had happened between Dillon and Sage.
Georgie was like her unofficial little sister. Ever since Dillon had begun to work for Jason and Sonny, Georgie and Carly became close. She knew her home life wasn’t stable. With her mom gone and her dad working a lot and her sister in boarding school, she really didn’t have anyone to talk to. Carly felt bad for Georgie. Georgie was a nice girl. She baby-sat Michael and Morgan regularly and was bubbly and fun. Carly loved her like her own little sister and didn’t want to see her get hurt.
She heard the baby begin to stir in her bassinet and she let out a faint cry. She put the letter down on the coffee table and picked the baby up and cradled her. She took her into the kitchen and made her a bottle. She still had some of Morgan’s bottles in the cabinets and some extra formula in the pantry. She rocked the baby back and forth and her cries seemed to stop.
“Carly are you here? Have you seen Dillon?” Georgie asked as she walked into the penthouse. She noticed a letter on the coffee table addressed to Dillon and she opened it.
She read the words.
She felt her heart starting to race.
It couldn’t be true.
Carly walked out of the kitchen holding the baby. She saw Georgie standing there holding something. “Georgie? Georgie! Please don’t read that!” Carly ran over to Georgie and took the letter from her hands.
“How? How could this happen?” Georgie felt tears begin to well up in her eyes.
Carly put the baby into a swing from Morgan and hugged Georgie tight.
“Is that the baby?” she asked.
“Yes, Dillon came over and asked me to watch her while he went to think,”
“She looks just like him. His eyes,” she whispered.
“I know, sweetie. You weren’t supposed to find out this way. He told me he was going to tell you when he got back,”
“It’s not fair though! He slept with Sage and she gets pregnant and has a baby. We haven’t even made love yet! It’s not supposed to happen this way! It’s just not fair!” Georgie had tears flooding down her face. Carly hugged her tight.
Dillon opened the door and walked into the living room. He was Georgie sobbing in Carly’s arms holding the letter. Georgie looked up at Dillon. She walked right over and smacked him across the face. “Georgie please let me talk to you. I need to explain what happened!”
Georgie looked him right in the eyes trying so hard not to let any more tears fall. “No! No! I don’t want to talk to you right now! Now it’s my turn to go and think!” she screamed at him and walked out of the room and slammed the door shut.
“No, no, this can’t be happening, Carly. I can’t lose her again. I can’t!”
“I know, Dillon. She was just hit straight between the eyes with some big news. Just give her some time to adjust to this. Call her in the morning,”
“I don’t know what to do though. I don’t know anything about babies. I don’t know what do if she is hungry or needs a diaper change. What do I do if she is crying? How do I hold her? I’m a hopeless dad. Dad. Wow, I can’t believe it. She’s mine. It’s sad that she wasn’t made in love, since I slept with Sage to get over Georgie,” he sat down on the couch with his face buried in his hands.
“Dillon, this is going to be hard. But you will love this little girl so much. When she calls you daddy it will melt your heart. And Georgie will come around. She loves you so much. She just needs space,”
“I know, I know. She just can’t leave me. I need her too much. She is my life. Without her, I don’t know what I would do. I love her so much,” he felt tears well up in his eyes.
Carly sat down next to him and rubbed his back. “Do you want to hold Mia?” Carly asked. Dillon nodded and Carly got up and picked Mia up from the swing. “Ok, so support her head and put one arm by her head and the other underneath her,”
She placed Mia in his arms. “Hi, Mia, I’m your daddy,” Dillon said. The baby looked at him with curious eyes as she wiggled in his arms.

Chapter Three
Georgie saw Max outside the penthouse and asked him to drive her home, since Dillon had picked her up from her house earlier that night. She sobbed in the back of the car. She arrived home and Max walked her to the porch. “Thanks Max. I appreciate it,” Georgie said at the front door.
“No problem Georgie. Take care of your self,” She gave him a small smile and he walked back to the car and drove away.
Georgie unlocked the front door and walked into her room. She found the house empty. Nothing new. She was used to an empty house with Mac working, Maxie was off finding herself, and her mom God-knows-where.
She changed into her pajamas and got a big bowl of ice cream. She crawled into bed and cried her self to sleep.
Dillon had left her two messages but she turned her phone off.
She got up the following morning and went to Kelly’s early for pancakes. She walked into the diner and sat down at the counter.
“Hey, Georgie, you’re here early,” Mike greeted.
“Hi Mike,” she said quietly.
“What can I get you?”
“Coffee and pancakes please with extra chocolate chips,”
“You got it,” Mike walked into the kitchen and Georgie looked out the window. She saw Jason walking into the restaurant. He walked up to the counter and took a seat next to her.
“Hey, Georgie. What are you doing here so early? I figured you and Dillon would be back at the penthouse. He told me that he had a big romantic evening planned for you two last night,”
“Well, it didn’t turn out that way. Have, you, been back home yet?”
“Nope, Sam and I had bad weather in Hawaii so we decided to come home early. I dropped Sam off and came to because I figured Mike wouldn’t mind making me some waffles before I met Sonny and we have some business stuff to take care of,”
“Well, you’re in for a big surprise when you get home,” Georgie said sarcastically.
“What happened?” Jason asked looking confused.
“Well let’s see. The girl Dillon slept with last year, Sage Alcazar, yeah; she got pregnant and had a baby. And last night some lady left the baby in front of your door. Dillon found the baby and was shocked. He left to go and “think” and left the baby with Carly. I came into Carly’s penthouse looking for Dillon and found the note Sage wrote to Dillon on the coffee table. So our romantic evening didn’t turn out too great,”
“Oh, Georgie, I am so sorry. But I have faith in you two. If anyone can get through this, it’s you two,”
“I hope so,” Georgie whispered.
“So, Dillon, hold the bottle and remember to support her head,” Carly told Dillon as he sat on the couch feeding Mia a bottle.
“Thanks, Carly, I appreciate the help,”
“No problem. You’re a natural at it,”
Dillon gave her a smile. “I think she’s done. What do I do?”
“Ok, you’re going to put her over your shoulder and burp her,” Dillon rubbed her back and she burped. He cradled her in his arms and she smiled at him.
Sam walked through the front door of the penthouse tired from the long flight. She put her bag down and looked up to see Dillon burping a baby. “Umm… hi, did you get an early Christmas present or something?” Sam asked pointing to Dillon.
“Sam, I would like you to meet Mia. This is my daughter,” Dillon said holding the baby in his arms.
“Your what?” she asked.
“My daughter. It’s a long story but last year I slept with a girl to get over Georgie. She left and little did I know she was pregnant. Last night a woman, who I think was her cousin, knocked on the door and handed her to me. She said she wasn’t safe with her, whatever that meant. Then she left,”
“Wow,” Sam said shocked as she sat next to Dillon.
“Does Georgie know?”
“Yeah and she’s really mad too,”
“I’m sure everything will be ok,”
Mia began to fuss in Dillon’s arms and he picked her up and put her in her bassinet. “I think someone needs a nap,” he cooed at the baby as he carried her into his room and placed a baby monitor, from Carly, next to her bassinet and walked back to the living room.
“Sam, if you and Jason don’t want the two of us to stay here, I completely understand, I’ll just find another place,”
“Dillon Quartermaine! Jason and I would never do that to you! You are family and not to mention you work for Jason and Sonny. The two of you will stay right here,” Sam walked over and gave Dillon a hug.
“Carly, you and I must go shopping. That little girl needs a bedroom fit for a princess. We’ll be back,” Sam grabbed Carly’s hand and pulled her towards the door.
“If you need me, call me,” Carly yelled as Sam pulled her out the door.
Dillon laughed and sat down to watch TV.
Jason walked Georgie to her front door from Kelly’s and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Everything will work out. I promise,”
“Thanks, Jason. I appreciate it,”
Jason walked away from the house and down the street. Georgie opened her front door and went straight to her room. She sat down on her bed and did her homework. She tried to get her chemistry homework done but she couldn’t concentrate. She looked at her cell phone and sighed. She dialed Dillon’s number of his cell phone. She waited for him to pick up but she got his voicemail. She didn’t leave a message. She walked down stairs and sat down on the couch to watch a movie.
About three hours later, Carly and Sam returned with everything a baby would need. And of course most of it was pink.
“Wow, you guys must have bought half the store!” Dillon gawked at the bags.
“There’s more coming. Max and Milo are still bringing up some more boxes and bags,” Carly said and Dillon just rolled his eyes and laughed.
“So what do we have here?” Dillon noticed Carly pulling something from outside the door.
“This is Mia’s new set of wheels,” Carly said and wheeled in a new stroller.
“Thanks a lot,” Dillon said.
“Well, we also got a crib, cradle, sheets, books, toys, bottles, a high chair, rocking chair, and much, much, more,” Sam said.
“And a ton of clothes! This is going to be the cutest dressed baby Port Charles has ever seen,” Carly added.
“How did you know what size she was?” Dillon asked.
“I checked her tag in her sleeper and it said newborn to three months and plus you missed an envelope in her bassinet with her birth certificate. She was born in September so she is two and a half months old,”
“I didn’t notice,” Dillon said lightly trying not to look like too much of an idiot. The girls both started laughing.
The girls heard Mia start crying and Dillon walked into his room and picked her up and brought her into the living room.
“Can I hold her, Dillon?” Sam asked. Dillon nodded and put Mia in Sam’s arms. “Hi, honey. I’m your Aunt Sam. You’re going to be staying with me and your uncle Jason now,” The baby wiggled in Sam’s arms.
“Ok so the painter will be here in about an hour and he can be here to paint and the furniture is being delivered here soon also, so why don’t you take Mia for a walk in the park in her new wheels,”
“Ok, and thanks again for helping me. I really appreciate it. How much do I owe you for all this stuff?” Dillon asked.
“Nothing at all. The clothes are a gift from Sonny and me,” Carly stated.
“And the furniture pieces are from me and Jason for that little bundle of joy. We needed to make sure this little cutie pie was treated like a princess,” Sam added cooing at the baby.
“Thank you both so much. I appreciate all of this. You didn’t have to do it. I am grateful for everything. I mean I know screwed up with sleeping with Sage. It was a big mistake and I regret it everyday. I didn’t love her and Mia made out of that. It is a shame that I never loved her mom. I was getting over Georgie. But I love Mia. I have only known her for a day but I am completely in love with her already. She is just perfect and I am going to be the best parent I can be to her,”
“That’s all that matters,” Sam said and gave Dillon a hug.
“You are going to be a wonderful dad. I can see it already. And you have all of us to go through this with. You won’t be alone. We’re here for you, including Georgie,”
“I hope so,” Dillon put Mia into her car seat carrier and snapped it into the stroller. Carly walked across the hall to get the boys, to take them to dinner, and Sam put some items into a diaper bag for Dillon that she and Carly had bought.
Michael and Morgan walked into the penthouse and saw the baby.
“A baby!” Morgan yelled.
“Whose baby is that?” Michael asked.
“This is my daughter, Mia,”
“She’s really cute, Uncle Dillon. She has your spiky hair,” Michael giggled and Dillon tickled him.
“Let’s go see grandpa!” Morgan cried.
“Ok, then we’ll meet you guys later at Kelly’s. I want to spend some time with my daughter,” Dillon said and he wheeled the stroller into the hall and headed towards the park.
Georgie couldn’t focus on the movie. Her mind kept wandering to Dillon and everything that had happened. She decided she needed some fresh air. She grabbed her coat and cell phone and walked to the park.
Georgie couldn’t believe it was November and sixty degrees out. All you needed was a light jacket. Georgie was walking in the park when she saw Dillon pushing a baby in a stroller. She looked at him and made eye contact. She quickly looked away and started to walk in the opposite direction.
“Georgie! Georgie! Wait! Please, wait!” Dillon shouted as he began to run after her.
But she didn’t stop. She couldn’t see him yet. With Sage’s baby.

Chapter Four
She started running to place where she knew she could think.
He tried to chase after her; he just had to talk to her.
She stopped for a moment to catch her breath.
He paused for a second trying to think of where she would be.
They both started walking again to the same familiar spot.
Georgie headed to a bench, big enough for two, which overlooked the pond in the center of the park. She sat down and let the tears welling up in her eyes fall, not caring if anyone noticed.
Dillon watched from down the path and saw Georgie crying. The same path he and Georgie had walked the night before holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes. Before everything had changed.
He wished he could just grab her and hold her tight. And never let go of her. He wished he could make all her feelings of hurt and pain just disappear.
He heard a sob come from Georgie and it broke his heart.
He wheeled the stroller over to the bench and knelt down in front of Georgie.
“Georgie,” he whispered trying not to frighten her.
Georgie looked up. Her eyes were puffy and her nose was red.
“Dillon, please, I don’t want to talk. I just want to be alone right now,” she said not making eye contact with him.
Dillon took a deep breath choosing his words carefully.
“Georgie, let me just explain everything. Then, if you want me to leave, I will. Ok?”
Georgie nodded her head and dried her tears with the sleeve of her jacket.
“Ok, you know what happened last night. You found the note from Sage. That baby sleeping in the stroller is my daughter, Mia. I know this is hard but, Georgie; I don’t want this to change us. I love you so much. I want you to know that last year when I slept with Sage, it was the worst mistake I ever made. If I could take it back, I would. But now I have Mia. And I know I’ve only known her about twenty-four hours but I am in love with her already. And I can’t lose you Georgie. I can’t. I love you so much and I always will. I am so sorry,”
Georgie looked Dillon straight in the eyes. Her cheeks wet with new tears.
“Dillon, I don’t know how to feel right now. All I know, is I need time to think. I need to figure things out. I know that sounds really selfish and rude but it is so hard to see you holding Mia, Sage and yours daughter, when we haven’t even made love yet. I know that you regret sleeping with Sage. We both made mistakes. I wish I never made that deal with your mom. I used to stay up at night crying; wishing things were different. And finally they went back to normal. We were finally back to being us. I almost forgot about Sage for a little. And now Mia is here and everything is going to change. I just need to think about everything and sort it out,”
“Ok,” Dillon nodded his head and kissed her forehead. He unlocked the brakes on the stroller and pushed it up the path heading to Kelly’s.
She looked up at Dillon, unclear to herself if she had made the right decision.
He turned around for a moment just looking at Georgie.
“Don’t forget about me,” he whispered, unsure if she heard him or not.
“I never could,” she whispered back.
She got up and walked in the opposite direction. She let some familiar tears roam down her cheeks.
He pushed his still sleeping daughter down the path. He tried not to let any tears that were welling up in his eyes fall.
They both walked in separate directions, heading to separate destinations, neither knowing what their future together held.

Chapter Five
Dillon pulled out his cell phone and called Carly.
“Hey, Carly, it’s me… Yeah, I don’t think Mia and I can meet you guys at Kelly’s… Yeah I’m sure, I just want to take her home… they should be done by now… ok… see ya later, bye,” Dillon hung up the phone and put it in his pocket. He placed Mia’s car seat in the back of his car and drove back to the penthouse.
As he drove, Georgie’s words rang through his head. “…And finally they went back to normal. We were finally back to being us. I almost forgot about Sage for a little. And now Mia is here and everything is going to change...”
He walked up to the front door of the pent house and opened it. He placed Mia’s carrier on the coffee table and sat down and turned the TV on. He heard Mia stir in her car seat. She opened her eyes and yawned. She started crying immediately. “Shh!! It’s ok Mia. It’s ok. Daddy’s right here. Don’t worry, it’s ok,” Dillon tried to calm the wailing child.
He walked into the kitchen and made her a bottle. He took it out of the microwave and fed it to Mia. She automatically stopped crying. “See, you were just hungry,” he cooed.
He sat down and turned on the television. Roman Holiday was on. “This is Georgie’s favorite movie,” he whispered. “Mia, Georgie is the other love of my life. She’s amazing. She is smart, beautiful, kind, and loving. She is the nicest person ever. She’ll save a fly,” Dillon laughed to himself, “she has this contagious laugh and can light up a room with her smile. She’s perfect,” a tear escaped Dillon’s eyes but he quickly brushed it away.
Mia finished her bottle and Dillon patted her back so she would burp.
“That’s my girl,” he said when she burped.
He held her and watched the movie. He heard a thump coming from the stairs and heard the front door burst open and Morgan ran up to him. “Uncle Dillon! And the Baby!” Morgan yelled and hugged Dillon’s legs.
Dillon smiled at the three year old boy. “Hey, buddy. Where’s everyone else?”
“Mommy and Daddy are taking Michael to Jamie’s house for a sleepover. Can I see the baby?” Morgan pleaded.
“Sure,” Dillon bent down to his level and showed him the baby.
“She’s really little,” Morgan giggled.
Jason walked over to Morgan and picked him up. “You were that little once too,” Jason said.
Morgan shook his head. “No way,” he said and Jason tickled him. Jason smiled at Dillon. “So, is this the new little baby I have heard so much about?”
“That’s Mia, Uncle Jason,” Morgan answered, “She has Uncle Dillon’s crazy hair,” Dillon laughed.
“Yes she does have his crazy hair,” Jason repeated amused. Sam walked into the room and pulled Morgan into her lap. “So, did Mia like her stroller?” Sam asked smiling.
“Yeah, we took it for a test drive through the park,” Dillon responded, remembering the conversation in the park.
Sam noticed how sad he looked at the mention of the walk in the park. “Is everything ok, Dillon?” she asked.
“I saw Georgie,” he said quietly.
“What happened?” Jason asked.
Dillon took a deep breath, trying to keep his composure. “Umm… she said she needs time to sort things out. I mean I don’t blame her. She was just hit with some huge news. I would probably do the same thing if the situation was reversed. I mean she’s had to deal with her family and then me sleeping with Sage and now Mia. I just wish I could do something to make her feel better. I hate that she is so upset and confused and I did that to her! I made her feel that way!”
Jason put his hand on Dillon’s shoulder and gave it a small squeeze. “Dillon, you have to stop being so hard on yourself. You and Georgie love each other and that isn’t going to stop,”
Georgie walked into her house after a long walk around the park. She contemplated everything that had happened in the park. She trudged up to her front porch and unlocked the door. She turned on the lights and saw Mac sitting on the couch. “Mac! You scared me half to death!”
“Sit down Georgie,” he said sternly.
She looked at him funny and sat down in a chair across from him. “What’s up, dad?” she asked lightly.
“Georgie, where were you last night?”
“I was at Eden’s house,” Georgie quickly responded, “why?”
“I called Eden’s house last night to tell you that I was working late if you needed to reach me and her mother said you weren’t there. Tell me the truth. Where were you last night?”
Georgie sighed. She knew she was caught. “I was with Dillon,” she mumbled.
Mac exploded, “Georgie, didn’t I tell you to stay away from him? You are turning into your sister, screwing up your life by dating a loser! You are going to destroy your future by dating a mobster! Why can’t you get that? Dillon is trouble. He is going to get you killed if you stay with him. Come to your senses Georgie! You are turning into someone I don’t know, lying to me, sneaking off to probably have sex with Dillon. You are not the Georgie I raised,”
Tears filled Georgie’s eyes. “Dad, Dillon is the best thing that ever happened to me. He respects me, and loves me for me, not someone else. He is the best guy I have ever met. I love him more than anything,” Georgie turned around and ran up to her room.
“Georgie! Georgie! Get back here! We are not done yet!” Mac yelled.
Georgie ran into her room and slammed the door shut. She lay down on her bed and cried.
Sam, Jason, Carly, and Sonny stood in Mia’s new nursery admiring the design.
Pink paint adorned the walls with a white crown molding topping it off at the ceiling. White furniture was placed around the room and in the center was a white sleigh crib. Pink and green floral bedding dressed the crib and various baby pink and yellow colored pillows sat on an antique rocking chair.
Toys and stuffed animals were scattered on the floor next to white shelves that went to ceiling. A chandelier dressed with pearls and glass beads lighted the room.
“You girls did a good job designing this room,” Jason said.
“Yeah, we did good, huh Sam?” Carly asked as she put her arm around Sam’s shoulder.
“Yup, we make a good team,” Sam agreed.
Dillon knocked on the door. “Can we come in and see the room?” he shouted from outside the room.
“Bring her in!” Carly said excitedly. Dillon walked into the room holding Mia.
“Well, what do you think?” Carly asked.
“It’s awesome,” Dillon responded in awe.
“Do you like it, Mia?” Sam asked and Mia smiled at her. She picked her up out of Dillon’s arms and cradled her.
“Thank you so much. It’s beautiful. I really appreciate it,”
“Of course, I would do anything for this little cutie pie!” Sam cooed.
“It’s gonna be so weird having a girl around,” Carly said.
“I know, we have a new shopping buddy since Morgan has outgrown that stage,” Sam laughed.
Mia yawned in Sam’s arms. “I think someone is ready for bed,” Sam announced. She handed Mia back to Dillon and she kissed her forehead. Dillon laid her down in a bassinet and grabbed the baby monitor and walked into the living room.
“That little girl is a joy. I can’t believe she went to sleep that easily. Neither of my boys did that,” Carly proclaimed.
“Why thank you. My daughter is an angel,” Dillon proclaimed proud.
Georgie cried into her pillow thinking about what her dad had said and everything that had happened.
She dialed a familiar number on her cell phone.
Dillon heard his phone ring and walked into the hall. He recognized the number immediately. His heart leapt into his throat when he saw it. He answered the call. “Georgie,” he whispered. There was no response. He sighed when he got no reply. “Georgie, I know you’re on the phone. Please answer me,” he pleaded.
Georgie let out a sob. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have called,”
Dillon panicked. “Georgie! No!! Please don’t hang up! Where are you? I’ll meet you so we can talk,”
“I---I have to go, Dillon. I’m sorry to have called,”
“Georgie, Georgie, wait please!” Dillon heard a click of the phone. His heart sunk and he sighed. He couldn’t even get her to talk to him.
Georgie sobbed on her bed. She didn’t want to push Dillon away. She just couldn’t figure out what to do. She cried her self to sleep that night.
Her chemistry homework would just have to wait.

Chapter Six
Georgie tossed and turned in her bed. The small rays of sunlight peeked through her blinds and bounced along the floral wallpapered walls. She rolled over and looked at her digital clock. It read 7:00. She gave up on the idea of sleeping in and stared at her boring white ceiling. The house was quiet.
*Dream One*
“Dillon, stop, I have to finish this paper!” Georgie groaned as he kissed her neck from behind. “Can’t you take a break?” he asked wiggling his eyebrows. Georgie laughed and turned around. She wrapped her arms around his neck and looked into his eyes. “You are so bad for my GPA,” she informed him and kissed his lips passionately.
“So what are we watching tonight?” Georgie questioned jumping on the couch, bowl of popcorn in hand. “We, my dear, are having an 80’s movie marathon tonight. The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Say Anything, and plus you get to see Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear,” Georgie laughed and kissed Dillon. “That’s a major plus,” she sat down next to him and almost instinctively Dillon wrapped his arms around her and pressed play on the remote.
*Dream Two*
Georgie dialed Dillon’s cell phone number. “Hello?” Georgie could tell she had woken him up. “Dillon, it’s me. Could you…um…come over and stay with me? I kinda watched Carrie and no one’s home and I’m really freaked out,” Georgie pleaded into the phone. Dillon smiled. “Yeah, I’ll be right over,” Ten minutes later Georgie heard a tap at her window. She sat up and quickly opened the window letting Dillon in. “Are you ok?” Georgie nodded her head. “Just a little freaked out,” Dillon laughed lightly. “Well now you know not to watch scary movies when no one is home,” Georgie playfully smacked him. “Here why don’t you try to fall back asleep and I’ll stay with you,” Dillon suggested and he and Georgie lay down in her bed. She rested her head on his chest and he stroked her blonde hair. “Thank you, Dillon,” she whispered and she let her heavy eyelids close. Dillon kissed the top of her head and closed his eyes joining her in slumber.
*End Dreams*
Georgie sighed and came back in touch with reality. She had to get her mind off of Dillon. A walk in the park on the brisk fall morning seemed like the perfect solution.
She changed into a pair of jeans and a sweat shirt and walked down the stairs. She found a note on the coffee table from Mac. They asked me to cover a shift. Be home late. Mac
She sighed and crumbled the note and threw it in the trash. She walked out the door and headed for the park.
She walked along the cement path trying to keep her thoughts from Dillon. She looked at the reds and oranges of the leaves on the trees and her mind wandered to the days she and Dillon had spent there.
*Dream Three*
“Are your eyes closed?” “Dillon, your hands are over my eyes,” Georgie reminded him. “Oh, yeah. Well we’re almost here,” he walked her a couple more feet. “Ok, open your eyes,” He took his hands off of Georgie’s face and she gasped in surprise.
A checkered blanket was set on the ground with two plates and some food in a picnic basket. “Dillon, you did all of this?” she questioned. “Yeah, I figured you needed to some time to unwind since Maxie just left for boarding school,” Georgie turned to him and kissed him lightly on the lips. She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Have I ever told you what an amazing boyfriend you are?” “Yeah, I know,” he joked and Georgie laughed and he kissed her sweetly.
*Dream Four*
“Ok, on your mark, get set, Go!” Dillon shouted and his boat sped into the water. “I’m gonna kick your butt Quartermaine,” Georgie yelled at him as her boat past his and raced towards the finish line. “No way, I’ve seen the way you drive. You’re going down,” Dillon retorted. He turned the corner and his boat crashed into the wall. “Woo hoo!” Georgie jumped up and down cheering for her victory. “So who’s the better driver now?” she teased. “Come here,” Dillon chased her around the grass of the park. He tripped and fell down on the ground flat on his face. “Not so good on your feet are we?” she laughed. He pulled her down and she shrieked. He pulled her into a short but passionate kiss. “Are you up for a rematch?” he asked.
*End of Dreams*
Everything and everywhere reminded her of Dillon. She began to get frustrated with her self.
Georgie screamed out loud at the top of her lungs in aggravation. It didn’t make her feel better. She wanted to know why her life was crumbling before her.
She looked up at the sky wishing someone would answer her. “Why is this happening to me?” she yelled to particularly no one. “What did I do to deserve this? Huh? I don’t do drugs, or drink, or smoke. I have for the most part stayed out of trouble. I get straight A’s in school. Why is my life falling apart?” she screamed.
Georgie broke down in tears. Her body began to shake and she hugged her self in the cool morning weather. Hot tears fell uncontrollably down her cheeks and she let out a sob.
Jason Morgan watched Georgie Jones, a young lady he had grown to love, crying helplessly on the cement path in the park.
“Georgie, what’s wrong? Are you ok?” he hugged her close and rocked her back and forth as she bawled on his shoulder.
She tried to catch her breath. “I’m… I’m fine,” she spit out, her voice shaky.
Jason looked at her. “Georgie, you are not fine, do you want to talk about it?” he asked.
She shook her head no, trying to regain her composure.
Jason looked at her. “Georgie, you can always talk to me,”
She took a deep breath and turned to face him. “Do you think everything happens for a reason?” she asked.
“Yes, I do,” he replied.
“Then what is the reason that all this stuff keeps happening to Dillon and me?” she inquired.
“I don’t know. But, you two have this love that has survived so much at such a young age. Most people would have given up, but you two didn’t,” Jason pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead and she cried some more.
She dried some tears. “Dillon more than likely hates me now. He probably never wants to see me again,” she sniffled.
Jason looked Georgie straight in the eyes. “Georgie, I know that is not true. Dillon loves you more than anything. Just don’t push him away, Georgie. He’s lost right now without you. And I bet you are too,”
She laughed lightly and dried the rest of her runaway tears. “How come you always find me at my weakest moments?”
Jason squeezed Georgie’s hand. “Georgie, you are allowed to have a break down and let others take care of you. You don’t have to put up these walls of defense. It’s not fair for you to deal with all this stuff and not let some tears fall because of it,”
“Who ever said life was fair,” she mumbled to her self.

Chapter Seven
(Same day during Georgie and Jason’s conversation)
Dillon was awakened for the fifth time that night/morning to the cries of his daughter in the other room. He climbed out of bed and waltzed adjacent space.
“Good morning, Mia,” he said and looked down at his watch. “Well, you slept two more hours. That makes a total of eight. Now if only you could sleep for eight straight hours, I’ll be a very happy daddy. Let’s get you something to eat,” he picked Mia up out of her pink and white bassinet and carried her into the kitchen to warm her bottle.
“You didn’t want daddy to sleep did you? You just wanted to be up and be a party animal huh?” he asked Mia and she squirmed in his arms. They sat down at the kitchen table and Dillon fed Mia her bottle while munching on a piece of toast.
Sam watched from the doorway and smiled. He’s gonna make a great dad. She thought to her self. She stepped forward, making her presence known, not to startled Dillon. “I guess someone has had there coffee this morning. I can’t believe how awake you are,” Sam joked, and joined Dillon in the kitchen to get some breakfast.
“I’m working on my third cup,” Dillon kidded. “I’m sorry if she woke you,” Dillon said.
Sam searched through the kitchen cabinets to find the cereal box. “No, no I was up. I heard Jason leave earlier and I was just in our room watching TV,” she assured and poured her self a bowl and sat down at the table next to Dillon. “How are you doing, Dillon? Are you ok?”
Dillon gave Sam an appreciative smile. “I’m ok,” he sighed.
“Have you heard more from Georgie?” Sam asked eating a spoonful of Cheerios.
Dillon nodded yes. “She called my cell phone last night and then quickly hung up. I couldn’t even talk to her. She hates me, Sam. She hates me!” Dillon yelled.
Mia cried at the noise and Dillon quickly rocked her back and forth. “Sorry, princess. I didn’t mean to scare you. It’s ok. You’re ok,” he soothed and she calmed down.
Sam put her hand on Dillon’s shoulder. “I am positive Georgie doesn’t hate you. She loves you more than anything,” she told him reassuringly.
Dillon shook his head no. “She won’t even speak to me anymore. I have hurt her so bad that she is now pushing me away. When--when Georgie is hurt, she does this thing where she puts up these walls and blocks people out. She doesn’t allow her self to wallow and watch sappy chick flicks with a bowl of ice cream. She keeps her self busy and avoids the subject as much as she can. She’s always done that,” Dillon began to feel tears forming in his eyes. “When I slept with Sage, it took Georgie almost a month to actually mumble five words with me,” Dillon spoke, his voice shaky. “And now she’s doing it again. I’m just afraid she’ll make it permanent,” Dillon let a couple tears fall down his face but he quickly brushed them away.
Sam looked at Dillon. “Dillon, I have known Georgie ever since you started living here over a year ago. We actually have become pretty good friends. And from the moment I met her, I knew she loved you with her whole heart. She looks at you with this look of love and affection,” Sam looked him straight in the eye. “I know you are the most important thing in her life as she is in yours. She needs you Dillon. Don’t give up on her,”
Sam gave Dillon a small squeeze and took Mia from Dillon’s arms. “Now, why don’t you go and get some sleep? I know you were up a lot last night with Mia,”
Dillon gave Sam a confused look. “Are you sure? I mean I’m ok. That’s what coffee was made for,” he raised his mug to make his point.
Sam raised her eyebrows. “Dillon Quartermaine! Look at you! Your hair is a mess, more than usual; you have bags underneath your eyes. You are a complete mess. Now go to bed and get some sleep. And I want to spend some time with this little cutie pie!”
Dillon gave Sam an appreciative smile. “Thank you, Sam. You’re the best,” he kissed her cheek and walked into his room. He fell down on his bed and immediately drifted off to sleep.
Sam looked at Mia. “Now that Daddy’s asleep, let’s have some girl time,” she carried Mia into the living room holding her, a bottle and her cup of coffee. She turned walked over to the TV and popped “It’s A Wonderful Life” in the DVD player.
An hour later, Jason walked into the penthouse. He kissed his wife on the cheek and kissed cousin’s daughter’s head. He sat down on the couch next to Sam and put his arm around her. “So what are you two lovely ladies doing on this morning?” Jason asked.
Sam looked out the window. “We are having some girl time,” she said cheerfully and patted Mia’s back.
“Oh lucky you. You didn’t get caught in the rain. It started pouring sheets about twenty minutes ago,” Jason informed Sam.
“So, where did you go this morning?” Sam questioned.
“I went for a walk to clear my head of the ringing of baby cries,” Jason took Mia from Sam and held her in his arms. “Because it seems a little girl just wouldn’t sleep,” Sam laughed and Jason got serious again. “I ran into Georgie,” he mumbled.
Sam’s looked concerned for the young girl. “How was she?” she asked.
Jason sighed. “She was crying hysterically when I found her,”
Sam shook her head. She was concerned for the young girl who had become a good friend of hers. “Poor thing. They are both so lost with out the other,”
Jason nodded in agreement and looked around the apartment. “Where’s Dillon?”
“I let him sleep and I took Mia. He looked exhausted,” Sam laughed.
Georgie covered her head with her jacket, trying to dodge the rain, and ran to the short distance to her house. She quickly opened the door and dashed up to her bathroom. She stripped out of her wet clothes and jumped into the hot shower to warm her self up. She stepped out twenty minutes later and wrapped the soft lavender towel around her self. She walked into her room and changed into a pair of jeans and her pink sweat shirt. She dried her hair with a towel and pulled it into a pony tail.
Georgie walked down the stairs and sat on the couch and opened up her book. She turned to page one of Romeo and Juliet for her English assignment.
An hour later, she got to page fifteen and sighed. She blew her bangs out of her eyes and set the book down. She couldn’t concentrate on the book. Jason’s advice kept running through her head.
“…Just don’t push him away, Georgie. He’s lost right now without you. And I bet you are too,”
She knew Jason was right. She shouldn’t push Dillon away. And she knew what she had to do. She climbed off the couch and grabbed her car keys. She didn’t know what she was going to say to him or what was going to happen, but she had to see Dillon.
Dillon woke up an hour and a half later. He changed into a pair of jeans and a green tee shirt and fixed his hair. He walked into the living room and sat down next to Sam.
“How was my princess? I didn’t hear any wailing so I take it she was good,” Dillon chuckled.
“She was an absolute angel. We watched It’s a Wonderful Life and then we talked about boys and I told her that she shouldn’t listen to you when you say she can’t date until she is thirty,” she informed Dillon.
Dillon nodded his head in seriousness. “That’s right she’s not allowed to date until she is thirty!” he yelled.
Jason rolled his eyes and laughed. “You would think that after all the crap you put up with Mac, you would be more understanding,” Jason mumbled sarcastically.
Dillon looked surprised, “Why I believe my cousin just made a joke!”
Jason shot him a look and Dillon and Sam laughed. He looked at Mia. “Your daddy thinks he is so funny with his lame jokes,”
A buzz came from the intercom next to the door.
“Mr. Morgan, a guest is here to see you,” the secretary said. “Should I let them in?” asked.
Sam looked out the window of the seventh floor penthouse to see who it was. She recognized the person and smiled.
She walked over and pressed the button to speak, “Thanks, Jennifer, let them in,”
Dillon was about to sit down on the couch when Sam quickly pulled him up, “Dillon, could you please help the delivery man with the packages downstairs. He might need some help,” she spoke rapidly.
Dillon gave her a weird look but nodded his head. “Could you watch Mia for a sec then?” He handed Mia to Sam and walked out the door.
He stepped into the elevator and went down to the ground floor. He headed around the corner and stopped in his tracks.
There, standing in the rain, was Georgie.
She looked at him with a big smile on her face, her clothes wet, and water dripping from her hair.
He ran out the revolving doors to meet her in the storm. Georgie smiled at him, biting on her lower lip shyly, and twisting her hands together, as Dillon approached her.
“Georgie,” he responded, barely audible, awed that she was standing in front of him.
“Hi,” she whispered, she grinned.
Without thinking, Dillon grabbed Georgie’s face and pulled her into a kiss. And they stayed that way, for several minutes letting the world pass them by. But to Georgie and Dillon, it seemed that time was standing still.

Chapter Eight
Dillon was dreaming. He couldn’t believe Georgie was there in front of him, nevertheless kissing him. He felt his heartbeat racing and felt hers matching the same speed. Dillon pulled away from the kiss breathing heavily, their foreheads touching. He stared at the girl he loved in front of him. “God she was beautiful,” Dillon wrapped his arms around Georgie savoring the moment and she rested her cheek on his broad shoulder as silent tears spilled from her eyes.
He felt the warm tears soak into his long sleeve shirt and he stared into her soft brown eyes. “Don’t cry, Georgie,” he pleaded. He looked at her and wiped the fallen tears away with his thumb. She stared at her feet, avoiding his face.
Dillon pulled her chin up to meet his gaze with her index finger. He smiled and got lost for a moment in her eyes. He could see his future in them. Their future together. “I am so sorry I have ever made you cry. I’m sorry I hurt you. You are the only one I love. The only one I have ever loved. And I was lost with out you. I was such a mess. I didn’t sleep, Georgie. And it was not just from the crying baby in the room next to mine,” Georgie laughed lightly and dried some tears with the sleeve of her sweatshirt. Dillon smiled at her. He was glad she was laughing. “And you were right; things are going to change between us. I have a daughter, whom I love more every minute. But Georgie, you need to know that I’m still the same old guy, with the porcupine hair who is head over heels for the most beautiful, perfect girl in the whole entire world. And I’m hoping you won’t give up on us, Georgie. I—just—I love you so much,” he choked out. He felt tears welling up in his eyes.
Georgie stared at Dillon for a second letting fresh tears wet her cheeks. She didn’t bother to wipe them away this time and gave him a small smile “I love you too,” she whispered. “I missed you too, Dillon. I missed you so much,” she began to cry again.
Dillon’s heart jumped into his chest. He had been waiting to hear that. He blinked again to make sure it wasn’t all a dream. She smiled at him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Dillon’s hands found their way to her waist and kissed her lips softly. He pulled her closer and deepened the kiss. Her knees grew weak as the kiss grew in passion.
After a few minutes of kissing on the sidewalk in the rain, Dillon felt Georgie shiver in his arms. “You’re shaking,” Dillon whispered to her.
“It’s a little cold out,” she spoke softly.
Dillon wrapped his coat around her shoulders and rubbed his hands up and down her arms in an attempt to make her warmer. It didn’t work. “Why don’t we go upstairs?” Dillon suggested. Georgie nodded in agreement. She clasped his hand tightly afraid that if she let go, he would melt away in the rain.
They stood in silence into the elevator. But it was a comfortable silence. Georgie clung to Dillon’s side. He put his arms around her waist from behind and held her close to his chest. “I love you,” he whispered in her ear. She smiled and turned around and kissed him softly on the lips. The doors opened and they stepped out.
Dillon unlocked the penthouse door and found it empty. “Wait right here,” Dillon whispered in Georgie’s ear. He walked into the bathroom to get some towels. On top of them was a short note from Sam. I figured you would need these. I took Mia across the hall to Sonny and Carly’s if you need us. Tell Georgie she can borrow some dry clothes from me. Don’t give up on her, Dillon. Love, Sam.
Dillon smiled and put the note in his pocket. He grabbed some towels and walked back into the living room. “Here, this will keep you warm,” he wrapped a towel around Georgie’s shoulders. “Sam said you can borrow a pair of clothes from her if you want,” Georgie nodded and headed into Sam and Jason’s bedroom.
Dillon ran quickly into his bedroom and changed into a new dry pair of jeans and blue and white button down shirt. He walked out of his room and sat down on the couch waiting for Georgie to come out. She stepped out of Sam and Jason’s bedroom only a moment later in a pair of black sweatpants and a blue sweatshirt with her hair in a messy bun. She thought she looked ugly, but to Dillon, she never looked more beautiful.
Georgie looked around the apartment looking for something, or someone. “Where’s Mia?” she asked.
Dillon smiled. He was so happy she cared. “She’s with Sam and Jason across the hall,” Georgie nodded and sat down on the couch quietly. Her mind was spinning and she was still trying to swallow the past fifteen minutes. She and Dillon had kissed. She and Dillon had kissed. The message kept playing over and over in her head. She was still stunned.
Dillon broke Georgie’s daydream with a simple question he asked often. “Shall we watch a movie?” he asked with a funny accent Georgie couldn’t quite place. It was one of Dillon’s quirks she always told herself. Georgie smiled and nodded her head. Dillon walked over to the DVD player and removed the disk. Georgie saw him put “It’s A Wonderful Life” back into its case.
“You’re watching a Christmas movie in November? I thought that was one of your special movie rules,” Georgie began to speak in a lower more professional sounding voice, “Christmas movies shall only be watched between the week before Christmas and New Year’s Day. Or for some crazy marathon in July,”
Dillon laughed at Georgie’s impersonation of himself and shook his head. “Sam was watching it earlier. It’s her favorite movie. She said she can watch it at any time of the year. She thinks my rules are nuts,” It was Georgie’s turn to laugh.
Dillon placed a movie into the DVD player and sat down next to Georgie on the couch. She sat close to him, but they didn't touch. Dillon wrapped his arm around Georgie’s shoulders. He turned the movie on. No sooner did Dillon press play did he turn it off.
Georgie stared at him strangely and raised an eyebrow. “Are you feeling ok? You don’t want to watch a movie. Should I see if you have a fever?” she joked.
Dillon smiled and directly faced her. “No, we’ll watch the movie. But I have a question for you first,”
“Ok, what is it?”
Dillon took a deep breath, “Where do we stand in our relationship? Are we back to dating or just friends?” he asked quietly.
Georgie played with her ring on her hand for a moment thinking of the right words to say. “Dillon,” she began, “You are the most important thing to me in the world. And there isn’t anything that I would want then to just go back to where we were. But we can’t. You know that. And I don’t just want to be over. There’s too much history between us. And I don’t want to be ‘just friends’ either,”
“So are you saying we’re back to dating?” Dillon asked hopefully.
Georgie grinned and nodded her head.
“Yes!” Dillon shouted.
“But Dillon, let’s take it a little slow. I kinda have to get used to the idea of you with a having a daughter,” Georgie said softly.
Dillon nodded in agreement and kissed Georgie. He pulled out of the kiss before Georgie could deepen it. “Hold on a sec. I’ll be right back,”
He dashed out of the room and across the hall. He swung open the adjacent penthouse door and found Carly, who was holding Mia, Sonny, Jason, and Sam sitting at the kitchen table talking and eating dinner while the boys played video games in the other room.
“Dillon, what’s wrong?” Sam asked.
“Where’s Georgie?” Carly questioned.
Sam and Carly spat question after question at him.
“Are you two back together?”
“We saw you guys kissing in the rain, so that was good,”
“You didn’t say anything stupid, did you?”
“She did forgive you didn’t she?”
“Did you find my note?”
“What--,” the girls said in unison.
“Lucy, Ethel,” Dillon cut them off. He couldn’t focus on their need to know the gossip. “Georgie is across the hall. I just came to get Mia. Thank you for watching her for me,” he grabbed her out of Carly’s arms and walked to the door.
And just as he was about to shut the door he said, “And yes, we are back together. She did forgive me. And no I didn’t say anything stupid,”
Dillon heard both girls scream in delight and Dillon chuckled to himself. He opened the door to the penthouse.
“Dillon, where did you go?” she saw Mia in his arms and smiled.
He carried her into the living room and sat down next to Georgie on the couch. “Georgie, I would like you to officially meet the other special little lady in my life. This is Emelia Isabel Rosalina Quartermaine. And Mia, this is Georgie. I love her very much. She is the girl I was talking to you about last night,” the baby gurgled in Dillon’s arms and smiled at Georgie.
“Well hello there Mia. It is a pleasure to finally meet you,” she tickled the baby and Mia laughed. Can I hold her?” Georgie asked.
“Sure,” Dillon placed the baby in Georgie arms. “We are going to have so much fun together! We can go shopping and play with dolls and watch chick flicks when your daddy doesn’t want to. You are so beautiful,” she whispered.
“She has my hair,” Dillon proclaimed proudly.
Georgie laughed. “Yeah, unfortunately,” she remarked dryly.
Dillon gasped. “I thought you loved my hair,”
“I do, very much,” she kissed his cheek. “So you talked to Mia about me?”
Dillon grinned. “Yeah, I was telling her how much I love you. How loving and caring and kind you are to others. How your smile can light up a room. How Roman Holiday is your favorite movie. And I told her just how perfect you are,” he leaned over and kissed her softly. Mia wiggled in Georgie’s arms and she laughed as happy tears formed in her eyes.

Chapter Nine
“Where the hell is it?” he yelled running around the apartment.
Sam laughed at Dillon scampering around like a chicken with his head cut off. She tickled Mia’s toes and sipped her coffee. Two weeks of Mia living at the penthouse and Dillon was still a mess.
“It’s not funny, Sam. I’m late and Sonny asked me to bring this file to the meeting and I can’t find it,” he searched underneath the pile of baby toys on the night stand in his bedroom. “Eureka!” he grabbed the file and ran back into the living room.
Sam arched an eyebrow. “Did you just say ‘eureka’?” she asked sarcastically.
Dillon ignored Sam’s comment and walked over to his daughter and picked her up. “Ok, bye sweetie. Be good for Sam. I’ll see you later when I get back from the meeting,” he kissed the baby’s forehead. “Thanks again Sam. I owe you and Jason dinner for watching her,”
“It’s not a problem but I am gonna hold you to that, see you later,”
Georgie walked through the doors of Kelly’s. The restaurant was pretty empty for a Friday afternoon after school. She threw her bag down and collapsed in the chair in front of her.
“Can I get you a drink?” the waitress asked.
Georgie smiled. “Yeah, can I have an iced-tea please?”
Dillon snuck up behind her. “Can you make that two?”
Georgie recognized the voice and grinned. “Well hello, there,”
Dillon sat down across the table from her. “Hello to you too,” he leaned across the table and leaned in for a kiss.
Georgie pulled back and stared at him. “Dillon, my dad cannot know that we are dating. I shouldn’t even be seen with you. That’s all I need is my aunt Bobbie to walk in here and ooe and aww over us and tell my dad. I’ll be sent to boarding school,”
Dillon took her hands in his, “I don’t care who sees us because I have you. And that’s all that matters to me,”
Georgie chuckled to herself, “Aren’t we smooth as peanut butter today?”
“Hey, I meant that,” Dillon pouted.
“I know you did,” Georgie reassured.
Dillon looked at her. “Can I have my kiss now?”
Georgie sighed. “I guess,” she leaned across the table and softly kissed Dillon’s lips.
“So you know the boys routine. Morgan is in bed by eight and Michael’s in bed by nine thirty. Don’t let Michael talk you into letting him play video games all night,” Carly laughed. “And if a certain boy with spiky hair who lives across the hall stops by, I don’t see why you couldn’t let him in,” she winked. “How are things with you and Dillon going?”
Georgie smiled. Carly was her unofficial big sister, she always looked out for her. “We’re good. Better than a couple weeks ago,”
Carly smiled. “Well I’m glad to hear it. Oh shoot! I forgot my purse,” she hurried out of the room and up the stairs.
“Hello Georgie,” Sonny said coming out of the family room.
“Hi Sonny,” she said cheerfully.
“Good luck with the boys tonight. And don’t let Morgan hook you into fifty bedtime stories. He did that to Bobbie the last time she was over. It’s his new trick to stay up late,” he chuckled.
“Got it,” she nodded and laughed.
Jason and Sam walked through the front door. “Hey Georgie,” Jason said and winked at her.
“Hi,” she smiled.
“Sonny, are you guys almost ready to go? We’re going to be late for the ball if we don’t leave now,” he reminded.
“Yeah, let me go get Carly,” he replied and went to look for his wife.
“So, how are you Georgie?” Sam asked sitting next to the teen.
“I’m good. Looking forward to winter break,” she laughed lightly.
“I thought you liked school,” Jason interjected.
Georgie shrugged. “I do, but I like sleeping in better,”
Carly walked down the stairs with Sonny right behind her. Carly’s red dress hung to her. Her hair was half pulled up in a diamond clip with soft curls falling down her back. On her neck was a diamond pendant and on her wrist was a gold bracelet. She wore a tan shade of eye shadow and red lipstick.
Sam’s dress was the opposite. The blue chiffon material flowed to the ground. Her hair was pulled up into a bun with few spiral curls hanging in front of her face. She wore minimal jewelry and neutral makeup.
They both looked gorgeous in their four digit price tag dresses.
“Ok, we’ll see you later tonight,” the four adults walked out of the penthouse and towards the elevator.
Georgie walked into the family room. “So, guys what should we do?”
“Can we have some popcorn and watch a movie?” Michael asked.
“Sure,”
Morgan picked Mary Poppins and Georgie helped him put in the DVD player. She grabbed some blankets from the linen closet in the hall and placed them on the sofa.
“Popcorn’s ready!” Michael yelled and walked into the room carrying a big plastic bowl.
“How much did you make?” Georgie asked.
“Three bags, that should be a good start,” he placed the bowl on the coffee table and sat down on the couch. Georgie sat in the middle with Morgan and Michael on either side. She put a blanket over them and pressed play.
“Hey, Georgie?” Michael asked.
“Yeah, buddy,”
Michael turned and faced Georgie. “Are you now going to be Mia’s mom? Because she doesn’t have one,”
Georgie took a deep breath, “I’m not sure,” it was the best thing she could think of. She honestly didn’t know herself. Dillon never asked her to be nor did she know if she could handle being a mother. Sure she loved the little girl but she wasn’t sure if she could emotionally accept her as her daughter. Not yet, at least.
“But you’re dating Uncle Dillon. So that means that you are Mia’s mom,”
Georgie shook her head. “Uncle Dillon and I aren’t married. So I can’t be Mia’s mommy,”
“Are you and Uncle Dillon going to get married? Because that would make you our Aunt Georgie,”
“Yes it would,” she smiled and kissed Michael’s forehead. Michael looked back at the movie. Georgie sighed. She was glad Michael didn’t have any more questions.
Georgie heard a knock on the front door. She tried to move but was stuck between the two sleeping kids. Georgie heard keys rustling and heard someone turn the doorknob. She looked at her watch. It read 9:45. She knew it was too early for Sonny and Carly to be home from the Hospital benefit. “Max? Milo?” she said quietly, trying not to wake up the boys.
“It’s just some lonely guy who lives across the hall and his daughter,” Dillon said holding Mia in her car carrier.
“Oh do you mean the guy with the crazy hair and a weird obsession for black and white movies? I hear he’s rather odd,” she giggled softly.
“Odd my butt,” he leaned in and kissed her.
“What are you two doing here?” she asked.
“Well Mia missed you and she begged me to come over. So I packed her up and walked across the hall to just so she could see her buddy Georgie,”
Georgie looked at the sleeping baby in the carrier in Dillon’s hand. “I think her daddy wanted to see me more,”
“He didn’t oppose to the idea,” Dillon said and Georgie laughed.
“Oh wonderful boyfriend of mine, could you please help me take this kid to bed? His head is digging into my hip,” Dillon laughed and picked Michael up. Georgie did the same with Morgan and carried them up the stairs. Georgie returned before Dillon did and quietly began straightening up the family room. She sat down on the couch and turned the TV on low. Dillon returned and plopped down next to her. “Shall we watch a movie?” he whispered.
“We need popcorn then,” Georgie reminded.
“Didn’t you make any?” Dillon asked aghast.
Georgie laughed. “Yeah, Michael made three bags and between him and Morgan, they polished it all off,”
“Gosh, those kids eat like horses! Alright then, I’ll be right back,” he said and walked into the kitchen.
Georgie grabbed a blanket off a chair in the corner and covered her legs with it. She smiled at the little baby asleep on the floor next to the sofa. Mia stirred in her in carrier and let out a big yawn. She opened her eyes and looked at Georgie. “Hey, pretty girl,” Georgie cooed and took Mia out of her carrier. “I missed you. I haven’t talked to you and a couple days. You know what we should do? We should go shopping next weekend. Just us girls: You, Carly, Sam, Aunt Bobbie, me should go. We’ll make a day of it,”
“Georgie, popcorn’s ready. Let’s start that movie!” Dillon exclaimed from the kitchen.
“Too bad Michael and Morgan missed you. I know they wanted to see their buddy Mia. Did you know he wants me to be your mommy?” she asked the baby and lightly giggled.
Dillon stopped at the doorway and stopped to hear the rest of the conversation.
Georgie didn’t hear him. “Some day, maybe. Hopefully,” she chuckled, “Not now though. You’re daddy and I are little young to get married,” she continued to rock her slowly back and forth. Georgie sat down on the couch holding Mia. She turned the movie on and tickled her toes.
Dillon stood at the door frame watching Georgie continue to talk with Mia. She would be a great mom. He wouldn’t pressure her into the idea any time soon. Like she said, “Someday”. He knew she was still adjusting to him being a father and he didn’t want to trap her or lose her. He couldn’t lose her again.
Georgie looked up from the television at Dillon. “Hey, what are you doing?” she asked.
Dillon blinked. “Oh, I was just… popcorn’s done!” he held the bowl up to support his statement.
Georgie smiled. “Well sit right here and let’s start this movie,” she patted a spot on the couch and Dillon obeyed. She snuggled into his embrace as he laid one arm over her shoulder and the other held the popcorn bowl. “So what were my girls talking about?” he asked although he heard every word.
Georgie shrugged. “Just girl talk,” she took a piece of popcorn and popped it into her mouth.

Chapter Ten
“Dad, I’m leaving for New York with Sam and Carly! I’ll be back tomorrow. I’ll call you tonight!” Georgie yelled, flying down the stairs and out the front door, trying to avoid the third degree. She hopped into the back of Carly’s SUV and she drove down the road.
“Hey Georgie, how are you?” Sam asked, turning her head back from the front seat to talk to the teen.
Georgie smiled. “I’m good. Glad to go though. Mac’s stressed over this big case he’s been working on this morning. He’s a little touchy this morning,” she laughed lightly.
“Well you don’t have to worry about that because it is girl’s weekend!” Carly shouted blasting the stereo. “No husbands, no boyfriends, no cooking or cleaning, a weekend just for TLC and shopping!”
Georgie heard her cell phone ring. “Good morning beautiful,” she heard on the other end.
Georgie grinned, “Hi, Dillon,”
“So what are your plans for New York today?” Dillon asked.
Sam and Carly exchanged looks with each other trying to suppress a laugh. “Georgie,” they both said in unison, “turn off the phone!”
Georgie laughed. “Dillon, I can’t talk to you right now. No boys this weekend,” she giggled. “I’ll call you later. Give Mia a kiss for me. I love you,”
“I love you too,” Dillon grinned and hung up the phone. “Aunt Sam and Aunt Carly are silly,” he told Mia and picked her up out of her bassinet and fed her a bottle.
Jason walked out of his room and grumbled at the time. 7:15 was way too early on a Saturday morning. “What about my wife and best friend?” he mumbled pouring himself a pot of coffee.
“They were yelling at Georgie about talking to me on the phone. Something about it being girl’s weekend and no boys,” he put Mia on his shoulder and patted her back.
Jason chuckled. “What are your plans for today?” he took a sip of his coffee.
Dillon stood up and walked into the kitchen and put Mia’s bottle in the dishwasher, “I was thinking, we could go to the jewelry store to look for Georgie’s Christmas present this morning,” he shouted from the kitchen and returned to the living room.
“We?” Jason asked.
Dillon nodded, “You, Mia, and me. I figured you’d want to come along since Sonny and the boys are skiing in the mountains for the weekend. And I know nothing about jewelry. I thought you would be a good person to have come along,”
“What about Emily?” Jason asked.
“She’s at the hospital,” he answered.
"Elizabeth?" he questioned.
"Nope, she and Lucky are picking out their Christmas tree,"
"Monica?"
"Hospital also," Dillon responded.
"Bobbie?" Jason asked.
"Covering a shift at Kelly's for Mike and then picking Lucas up at the airport. He's home for winter break," Dillon explained.
"Tracy?" Jason tried once more.
Dillon looked at him like he had three heads. "Are you nuts?" he asked.
“Fine,” Jason answered, “Let’s leave at ten,”
"And I was beginning to think you didn't want to come along," Dillon mused.
Georgie walked from the check out line at FAO Schwartz holding the small pink teddy bear in her hands. She saw Sam standing near the entrance and walked up to her.
“Did you make a new friend?” Sam joked.
Georgie chuckled and shook her head. “It’s for Mia. I thought it would be good to get her something from our trip,”
Carly walked over to the girls carrying bags in her arms, “Ok, next store, Bloomingdales. I want to look for some clothes for the boys and some more button down shirts for Sonny for Christmas
“Since that’s all he wears,” Sam laughed.
“What do you think of this necklace?” Dillon asked holding up a gold pendant with three diamonds down the center.
Jason sighed. They had been at the jewelry store for and hour and Dillon still hadn’t decided on something. “It’s nice. I think Georgie will really like it,” Jason said monotone.
Dillon shook his head. “No, I think it’s a little too fancy for Georgie. Ya know? She doesn’t wear a lot of jewelry. What about a locket?” Dillon asked the jeweler. “That seems like something Georgie would like,” The jeweler smiled and walked over to another cabinet. “I think a locket is good. What do you think, Jason?” Jason nodded and the jeweler walked back to them. “Ok here are our best selling lockets,” she said and Dillon again went to look at necklaces.
Jason looked at down at Mia sucking her thumb in her stroller. She looked up at him with her big brown eyes and yawned. “I know what you mean, kid,” he mumbled to her.
“Perfect, thank you,” Dillon told the jeweler. He walked over to Jason and Mia “What do you think?” he asked taking the velvet necklace box out of the bag and opened it to show them. Inside was a gold heart locket with an etched scrolling border around the edges. In the center sat a diamond. “Well?”
Jason smiled. “I think she’ll love it. Now let’s go to lunch,”
Dillon laughed, “Kelly’s?”
The girls sat around a table at Serendipity in New York City.
“Mmmmm. This is so good,” Georgie said dipping her spoon into her frozen hot chocolate.
“Jason and I came here last winter. He proposed to me on New Years Eve, three days later,” she took a bite of the dessert.
“That’s so sweet,” Georgie gushed.
“You and Dillon should come here for the day,” Carly suggested. “It’s such an interesting city and very romantic,”
Georgie snorted. “I highly doubt it. Mac would blow a gasket if he knew I was even talking to Dillon,”
Carly gave her a sympathetic smile. “He doesn’t know you two are dating?” she asked.
Georgie nodded. “Nope. He found out that I lied to him about staying at my friend Shelly’s the night Mia arrived at your doorstep. He yelled at me for still seeing him and him being dangerous. I guess he thinks I broke up with him,”
Sam looked at her confused. “So, Mac doesn’t have a problem with you going into New York City for two days with the wives of mobsters, but he doesn’t like you dating a guy working for two mobsters?”
Georgie shrugged. “Mac hasn’t liked Dillon since he ran over those parking meters with AJ’s Hummer and we ran away together last summer on Kyle’s bike. And then, when he found out from Maxie that he broke my heart last December that put him over the moon. And working for Jason and Sonny was the icing on the cake,” she took another bite of her dessert.
“Just be careful Georgie. Not telling Mac about you still seeing Dillon is dangerous water. You don’t want him to do anything irrational. Especially with all the stress you’ve said he’s been under at the station,”
Jason and Dillon walked into Kelly’s with Dillon pushing Mia in her stroller. Dillon looked down at his daughter who was snoring quietly. He and Jason sat down at a table and opened their menus.
“Hi what can I get you guys?” Penny asked.
“I’ll take a bacon cheeseburger with fries and root beer,” Dillon said.
“I’ll take the same,” Jason added. Penny smiled and walked back into the kitchen to give Mike their orders.
Emily walked through the doors of Kelly’s. She saw her brother, cousin and his daughter sitting at a table talking and she decided to join them. “Hey, guys!” she squealed and kissed each of the men’s cheeks.
“Hey Em,” Dillon said, “How are ya?”
“I’m doing well. I just finished my shift at the hospital. What are you guys doing?” she asked.
“Dillon, Mia, and I went jewelry shopping for Georgie this morning,” Jason informed her.
“Oh! Let me see what you got her?” Dillon dug into the basket at the bottom of the stroller for the bag and pulled out the velvet box. He opened it and showed it to Emily. She smiled. “It’s beautiful. I think Georgie will love it,”
Penny walked over with Jason and Dillon’s sodas. “Emily, did you want to join the guys?”
Emily shook her head. “I don’t want to intrude on your guy time,” she laughed.
Jason raised his eyebrow, “Emily, stop it. You’re not intruding on anything. Now stay and join us for lunch,”
Emily grinned and looked at Penny, “Then I guess I’m staying,” she giggled.
“What can I get you to eat, then?” Penny asked.
“I’ll have a house salad with honey mustard dressing and just a glass of water,” she said.
Mia stirred in her stroller and she began to cry. “Hi Miss Mia,” Emily cooed and picked her up out of the stroller. She took of her tiny black pea coat and pink velveteen hat and held her in her arms. Look how so cute in your little pink dress with white shirt. You look like a little thing of cotton candy. And look at your little pink suede boots. How cute Dillon!” Emily gushed.
“You can thank Sam and Carly for her clothes. They probably wiped out the whole mall of baby outfits. And Georgie got her the boots,” Dillon told Emily.
“How is Georgie? I haven’t been able to talk to her at the hospital lately. I’m so busy interning right now,” she explained.
Dillon smiled. He always smiled whenever Georgie was mentioned. It was his favorite subject. “She’s good. She’s in New York this weekend with Sam and Carly,”
Emily laughed. “So the guys are alone this weekend? I’m surprised you match, Mia,” Emily laughed. “Oh grandfather would love to know he has another great-grandchild born out of wedlock,” she remarked sarcastically laughing more.
“Ha, Ha, let’s not tell him and say we did,” Dillon replied sarcastically.
“So what did you guys do today?” Georgie asked Dillon sitting on her bed in her hotel room.
“Well, Mia and I went to the park and we watched Mary Poppins,” Dillon omitted the part about heading to the jewelry store, “And Jason joined the two of us at to Kelly’s and we saw Emily and I talked to her for a little. And listen to her great idea, she wants me to take Mia over to the Quartermaine’s,” Dillon stated.
Georgie laughed. “I think it’s a wonderful idea. Let Edward know there is another illegitimate Quartermaine heir in the family,”
“That’s what Emily said,” he laughed. “But that aside, how was your day in New York?”
“I had so much fun! We went to Bloomingdales and to FAO Schwartz and down Fifth Avenue, and to Serendipity for some dessert. And then tonight we went to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Oh, Dillon, it was so romantic. I cried at the end,” she giggled.
“Sap,” Dillon remarked.
“Shut up!” she laughed.
“Georgie, come on the movie’s starting!” Sam yelled from the living room of the Plaza Hotel penthouse.
“Hey we’re about to start our chick flick night. I’ll talk to you tomorrow. I love you,” she said sweetly.
“I love you too. Sweet dreams,” he said and hung up the phone.
Georgie walked into the living room in her hot pink bathrobe and fleece pajamas to find Carly in Goofy pajamas and Sam in bunny slippers. Georgie sat down next to Sam on the couch and Sam handed her the bowl of popcorn. “Ok, so we have Serendipity which we are starting out with, Must Love Dogs, the Wedding Planner, Sleepless in Seattle—,”
“Which is a complete rip off of an Affair to Remember,” Georgie interrupted.
Carly giggled. “You have been spending way too much time with film boy,”
“And last but never least, my favorite, You’ve Got Mail,” Sam finished.
“Sounds perfect,” Georgie said popping a few Milk Duds into her mouth.
Carly pressed play on the remote and the movie began.
