Chapter 30
The next morning, things were still a bit awkward, but Dillon and Georgie tried to make the best out of the situation. Dillon didn't want to say anything to Georgie, fearing another event like last night would happen again and Georgie still wasn't sure how to explain her feelings to Dillon.
Georgie finished packing up Kristina's things just as the doorbell rang.
"I got it," Dillon said, picking Kristina up off of the couch and walking toward the door.
"Hi baby girl!" Alexis said happily as soon as the door opened.
Kristina's little arms reached out, wanting her mother to take her in her arms.
"How was she?" Ned asked his brother.
"She was great, the perfect angel." Dillon told him, stepping aside so that he could enter.
Ned walked over to the couch and picked up the diaper bag and blanket.
"Hi Georgie," Alexis said, still standing by the door.
Georgie stopped before walking into the hallway. "Hi Alexis, Ned." She said, faking a smile. "Bye baby girl, see you soon!"
“Buh bye!" Kristina shouted, waving her hand.
Georgie walked into the hallway and seconds later the bedroom door slammed shut.
"Is everything alright?" Ned asked, looking up at his brother.
Dillon shrugged his shoulders while rolling his eyes.
Ned patted him on the back. "Okay, well thank you for watching Kristina."
Dillon shook his head. "Not a problem."
"Hey, call us when you get back from your appointment, okay?" Alexis told him, grabbing the blanket from Ned.
"Will do," Dillon told them walking toward the door. "Bye princess," he said,
leaning forward and kissing Kristina's forehead. "See you guys soon."
"Bye," they said before turning and walking toward their car.
Dillon shut the door and leaned against it, running his hand through his hair.
“Georgie!” he called, pacing in the kitchen. “We’re going to be late for our appointment.”
“No we’re not”, she said in a small voice, standing in the doorway.
He turned to see her standing there. Her eyes were red, from obvious crying, but she’d tried to cover them with some makeup. Didn’t do the best job at hiding much.
She watched him and flashed him a slight smile as she walked across the floor and grabbed her purse, heading for the door.
“You coming?” she turned to see him still in the kitchen.
Even now, even when he has no chance in the world at understanding why Georgie was acting the way she was, he still found her the most beautiful thing in the world.
“Yeah, I’m coming”, he said, grabbing his keys from the counter and following behind her.
Dillon sat down in the waiting area while Georgie went to a small round table and found a magazine.
“Dillon and Georgie?” the receptionist called as Georgie took her seat next to Dillon, with a parenting magazine in hand.
“Yes”, Dillon answered.
“Good, I’ll let Dr. Meadows know that you’re here.”
"Okay, the baby looks great. Everything seems to be going perfectly fine." Dr. Meadows told them, looking at the monitor.
"That's our baby?" Dillon asked, staring at the monitor.
"Yeah, that's your baby." Dr. Meadows said, smiling at the couple.
Georgie had tears forming in her eyes. "So everything looks okay? The baby's okay?"
"Yes, everything is fine. You're doing a great job, Georgie." She told her.
And then she took a closer look at the monitor and Dillon’s heart beated fast.
“What is it? Is something wrong?” he asked, concerned.
Georgie reached for Dillon’s hand, which rested on the hospital bed next to her and lightly brought her palm across it. A small gesture that took Dillon by surprise because of how she’s been acting earlier. But only for a minute, then he turned his attention back to Dr. Meadows.
“Well…no, nothing’s wrong. But the baby is in a nice position to determine the sex.” She turned toward them with a smile. “Would you like to know if the baby is a boy or a girl?”
Georgie looked up at Dillon as her hand squeezed his just a little. She sniffled and wiped a tear from her cheek.
“What do you think, Dillon? You wanna know if you’re going to have a son or a daughter?”
Dillon looked down at Georgie, he squeezed onto her hand and smiled. "Yeah, I want to know." He said, looking back up at Dr. Meadows.
Dr. Meadows looked at Georgie, who was smiling and nodding her head.
"Okay," she said smiling. "Congratulations, you're having a baby girl."
"Oohh," Georgie sighed, bringing her free hand to her mouth, as the tears started rolling down her cheeks once again.
"A baby girl?" Dillon asked, still staring at the monitor.
"Yes, Daddy's little girl." Dr. Meadows said with a laugh. "I'll give you two a few minutes alone while I go and make you a copy of the ultrasound." She said, quickly slipping out of the door.
“Oh my goodness…” Georgie muttered, looking to Dillon. “What do you think, Dad? You want a little girl?”
Dillon felt a wetness hit his eyes as he looked from the screen to Georgie. “Yes”, he choked. “Yes.” “Aw, Dillon”, her palm met his cheek. And then she realized how terribly she’d been treating him. “Dillon, I need you to understand why I was the way I was last night…”
“Shh”, he told her. “That doesn’t matter now.”
“Yes it does! I’ve treated you…”
“No”, he cut her off. “It doesn’t matter. Really.” He squeezed her hand as he looked back to the screen.
And Georgie knew too, it didn’t matter now. Sure, she’d tell him later. Now was not the time.
“So, she’s not dating until she’s 32”, he informed her.
“Oh my goodness”, she laughed. “You’re going to be worse than Mac. I think that 28 is a good number.”
Just then, Dr. Meadows walked in.
"It's good to see you smiling again," she said, handing Georgie the ultrasound picture.
"Thank you," Georgie said, showing Dillon the picture.
"So everything looks fine, and the due date is still set for November 2. Do you have any questions?" She asked, taking a paper towel and wiping the gel off of Georgie's belly.
Georgie looked up at Dillon, who shook his head. "Nope," she said, looking back at Dr. Meadows. "Not at the moment."
"Okay," She said, smiling. "We'll set up your next appointment and then you're free to go."
"Okay," Georgie said, pulling her shirt back over her belly. Dillon grabbed onto her hand, helping her sit up and she carefully hopped off of the bed.
They arrived home, and Dillon set his keys on the stand by the door and went to the couch, the pictures of the ultrasound still in hand.
Georgie smiled to herself, placing her palm on her belly and walking to where Dillon sat on the couch, resting her chin on his shoulder.
“Hey you. You only stopped looking at those pictures long enough to drive.”
Dillon smiled, wrapping his arm around her shoulders as he pushed them both back against the couch. Georgie’s head dropped to his chest as they looked at them together.
“They’re just so strange you know? Strange and wonderful at the same time.”
“I know exactly what you mean”, she smiled into his chest.
Dillon wanted to kiss her, he wanted to hold her tight against him as they shared the joy of seeing their baby for the first time in a photo.
“Dillon…” she moved her fingertips across his chest.
“Yeah?”
“About last night…I really am sorry. I just…One minute I want to make love with you and then the next I just want to push everyone away so that I can be alone, by myself, just to think. It’s not you. It’s just that sometimes I get these strange feelings and I don’t know exactly how to react to them.”
She pulled away to look into his eyes, to know how he was feeling about her revelations.
“It’s not you! Really, and those bad feelings, when I wanna push everyone away…”
He brought a finger to her lips. “Override the good ones, right?”
She looked down and closed her eyes. “Yes.”
“So, I think there’s a simple explanation for these feelings.”
“Yeah?” she raised her head and smiled.
“Yeah. They’re called hormones.”
She blushed. “You’re so wonderful. Thank you for understanding.”
He smiled and pushed a strand of hair away from her face. “And there is also a simple solution.”
“And what is that?”
“We make up some way that you can tell me without having to be all embarrassed or nervous that I won’t understand.”
“Like how?” she asked with a smile, not understanding where he was coming from.
“Like another way of saying ‘Dillon, I need some room’ in a way that has nothing to do with that. Like um…How about whenever you’re feeling that way you can say ‘Dillon, I need some lemonade’.”
She laughed. “Are you serious?”
“Absolutely.”
Dillon opened the door to the nursery as Georgie walked in.
"So," she said, turning around to look at him. "I guess we'll be painting this room pink very soon."
"No," he said, walking further into the bare room. "I will be painting it, you will be doing...something else." He said laughing.
"It's pretty bare in here, isn't it?" She asked, scrunching up her nose.
"Yeah," he said, running his hand over the dresser that was once Georgie's. "but it'll look better soon."

Chapter 31
Dillon had drug out the box that contained the changing table that he and Georgie would be using. It was an hour later, and they were still nowhere near being finished. Dillon had brought in a small stereo so that they could listen to some music while they worked.
“Haha! Oh wow. You really are uncoordinated, hun”, Georgie teased. “I mean, come on how many times do you have to stick the same poley thing into a holey thingy before you realize it doesn’t like you. You’re never going to get it to stay. It’s fallen apart on you 4 times already.”
“Babe”, he pointed at her with the pole. “Watch and learn.”
And Georgie watched amused as Dillon stuck the pole into the hole in the bedding and twisted it several times. Standing it up and seeing that it did not indeed fall over for the 5th time, he was proud.
“See? Told you”, and then he let go. The whole thing came crashing down to the floor. Georgie covered her mouth with her palm and looked up at Dillon with laughter in her eyes.
“Oh you know what…”
She couldn’t help it. “I’m sorry, sorry”, she bit her lip.
“Come here!” he went to her side and began tickling her.
“No, Dillon! Stop!! Quit!”
"Ahh," Dillon yelled, running his hand through his hair. "I give up! This is pissing me off!" He finally admitted after about an hour.
Georgie smiled, as she stood across the room, looking out of the window at the dark night sky. She turned to face him, the smile still pastured across her face. "It's okay, we'll get it set up eventually."
"Yeah," he agreed, nodding his head.
When you have to look away When you don't have much to say
That's when I love you
I love you just that way
Georgie looked at the little radio and then back at Dillon, who was still sitting on the floor, looking at all of the pieces to the changing table.
"Baby," She said, walking toward him.
He looked up at her.
She held out her hand. "Dance with me?" She asked, biting her lip.
Dillon smiled as all of his frustration seemed to float away. He stood up and grabbed Georgie's hand, pulling her closer to him, as they began to sway to the music.
To hear you stumble when you speak
Or see you walk with two left feet
That's when I love you
I love you endlessly
Her palms found his cheeks and cupped his face in her hands, pulling him down and kissing his lips very softly.
And when your mad cause you lost the game Forget I'm waiting in the rain Baby I love you I love you anyway
He returned the kiss, not being able to help forcing his tongue between her lips, holding her body close to his.
Cause here's my promise made tonight You can count on me for life Cause that's when I love you When nothing you do can change my mind The more I learn the more I love The more my heart can't get enough That's when I love you When I love you No matter what
He removed his lips from hers and replaced them at her neck, softly sucking on her skin. Georgie’s hand pressed his head down closer to her neck to feel more of his mouth.
So when you turn to hide your eyes Cause the movie it made you cry That's when I love you I love you A little more each time
"Dillon," She said softly, playing with his hair, as he continued to suck on her neck.
And when you can't quite match you clothes
Or when you laugh at your own jokes
That's when I love you I love you
More then you know
Georgie placed her hands on the sides of his face, causing him to look up at her. She smiled before returning her lips to his, kissing him softly.
He smiled against her lips, wrapping his arms tightly around her waist and resting his hands on the small of her back, while her hands wrapped tightly around his neck, deepening the kiss. Georgie moaned into Dillon's mouth as his tongue swirled around hers.
And when you forgot that we had a date
Or that look that you give when you show up late
Baby I love you, I love you anyway
"Whoa," She said, quickly pulling away from him and grabbing her stomach.
"What happened? Is something wrong?" He asked, concern filling his eyes.
She looked up at him, laughing slightly. "She just kicked, that's all."
"Are you sure?" He asked.
Georgie nodded her head. "She's got one hell of a kick," She told him, smiling.
So here's my promise made tonight You can count on me for life
Dillon just smiled, and pulled her back in his arms, his head turned to it’s side and rested on Georgie’s shoulder, rocking her slowly back and forth to the music. Cause that's when I love you When nothing you do can change my mind The more I learn the more I love The more my heart can't get enough That's when I love you When I love you No matter what
He pulled her body closer, he wanted to feel every part of her against him. His palm went to the side of her belly, looking down and smiling at their baby girl inside Georgie’s tummy.
Ohh that's when I love you when nothing baby, nothing you do could change my mind The more I learn, the more I love, the more my heart can't get enough That's when I love you, when I love you no matter what She pulled him back toward her, finding his lips as the voices faded from the speakers and there was nothing but the sound of their own raspy breaths. Ohhhh no matter what.

Chapter 32
The baby kicked, stirring Georgie out of a sound sleep. She opened her eyes, allowing them to adjust to the light that was shining through the curtains before looking over Dillon at the alarm clock that read 7:30. She placed her hands on her belly, rubbing it gently. "Good morning, baby girl." She gently rolled over onto her side, facing Dillon, she propped herself up on her elbow and began kissing his neck. When he stirred a little bit, but didn't wake up, she started to whisper in his ear. "Happy birthday, honey." She said, her voice low. A smile formed across his face as she began kissing his ear. "Baby?" She whispered. "I know you're awake. Come on, baby..." She continued kissing his ear, making her way to his neck. He gently, but quickly grabbed onto her sides, pulling her body on top of his. "Morning sweetheart." "Happy 19th", she said with a smile, her fingers removing a strand of his wild hair from his eyes. The warmness of her breath hit his lips and he was already loving the morning. "Mmm", he moaned, his arms encircling her waists. "You think we could just stay in bed all day like this?" "Nope", she said with a smile. "As much as I'd love to", she blushed. "We can't. We'll have quests within the hour. And you, mister", she touched his chin with her fingers. "Birthday boy, have to get cleaned up." She began to pull back the covers and remove her body from Dillon's but he wasn't having it. His arms tightened around her. "Nope. You're not going anywhere. Just lay with me like this, for 2 more minute. Just 2 more minutes. Please?" he asked. She sighed, trying to be angry with him. "Fine."
Dillon stepped out of the bathroom, pulling his T-shirt on over his head, wandering what was going on as every single smoke-detector in the house was going off. He saw Georgie upset about something as her arms flew around with one oven mit on her one hand, waving them around and coughing. "Grrr!!!" she stomped her feet as she opened the oven door and reached in, taking out the waxy black cake. "Oh!!!" her lip curled under as she felt that she would cry. Dillon immediately went over to her, turning her around to face him and hugging her. Her arms went around his waist, pulling off the mit and her head buried, embarrassed, into his chest. Tears streamed down her face as Dillon hushed her, his hands running through her hair and kissing the top of her head. Well that's just like last year on my birthday She lost all track of time and burnt the cake
"Dillon, I am so sorry. Your birthday is ruined."
And every smoke detector in the house was goin' off "Shh", he hushed. "My birthday is far from ruined. You've already given me everything I want."
And she was just about to cry until I took her in my arms
Dillon found himself biting his lip as he looked around at it all. The smoke alarms were still going off.
And I tried not to let her see me laugh Yeah I live for little moments like that
10 minutes later, Dillon was back home with the store-bought cake. Georgie was still upset that she wouldn't have time to bake him his first non-burnt birthday cake from her, but she smiled when he sat it down on the counter. It was baby blue in the center and had a darker blue trim around the edges. There was the same dark blue letters and they read: Happy 19th Dillon. Love, Georgie and Baby. "Aww", she said, a single tear running down her cheek. "This is perfect." "That's what I thought", he said, kissing her forehead. Then the bell rang. "I'll get it", he whispered as he went to the door. "Surprise!" Kyle and Maxi stepped in with party hats on their heads and streamers in their hands. Maxi took the opportunity to also spray him with her silly string. "Oh wow", he covered himself with his arms the best he could. "Haha!" she yelled. "Happy 19th, Dillon!" she hugged him. Then she ran to Georgie who was in the kitchen, taking the cake out of the box. "Hey, Max." "Aww. Cute cake." "Dillon picked it out, after I burnt the one I cooked", she said, still a little bummed. "Aww, Georgie. It's okay. I know that Dillon understands", her palm went to her shoulder for a moment. Georgie nodded and took a deep breath. Georgie lit the candles with a match and then blew it out, shaking it and throwing it out. She picked up the cake that rested on the nice glass dish that Alexis had left in the cabinet and carried it with both hands to the living room. Maxi followed behind as they walked to the couch where the guys sat. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Dillon. Happy Birthday to you. Georgie sat the cake down on the coffee table as Dillon, with a smile dancing on his lips, rubbed his hands together and leaned down, blowing out each of the candles. He pulled Georgie down onto his lap as everyone clapped. "Happy Birthday, man", Kyle said, handing him a gift. "Kyle you shouldn't have." "I know. Maxi made me." "Kyle!" She hit him in the arm. "It's all right. I knew he had his reasons", he said with a smile as he pulled back the paper, which was in the shape of a book. There, he found a playboy magazine. Kyle laughed and clapped his hands together and Georgie's jaw dropped and Dillon quickly opened to the centerfold where he let the book fall out so that the picture could take shape. His head turned slowly to one side to take it all in. Georgie laughed and took the book, throwing it across the room. "Later, baby. We'll look at it together", she whispered. "Um..." Dillon began, just staring at Georgie. "Guys, I think it's safe for you to leave now." Maxi walked over and hit him upside the head with the newspaper that lay rolled up at the corner of the table. And then she dropped her present in his lap. He looked up and laughed as he opened it. He tore back the paper and found a soft white covering to a baby book. "I figure it's something for you and Georgie and the baby. I couldn't help myself. And you can place pictures in there of when they baby grows hair and its out to here", she motioned with her hands about a mile off each side of her head. "Considering the baby has Dillon for a father, you never know." "Hey!" he took the book and hit her backside with it. "Ahh!" she screamed.
Georgie headed to the kitchen and carried out plates and silverware for everyone. "Okay, Dillon let's cut the cake." He took the knife and slowly cut down the center and across, placing the pieces on plates the Georgie held out for him. "Hey Dillon", called Kyle. "Yeah?" he barely got the word out as Kyle, who was standing behind the couch, shoved Dillon's head into his plate of cake. Everyone cracked up and Georgie gave Kyle a high five as Dillon slowly brought his head off the cake and licked it from his lips. "You think that's funny?" he asked Georgie. She smiled, blushing and nodded innocently. "Come here!" He dug his head into her shirt so that cake crumbs got all over her as well. "Dillon!"
Then the doorbell rang. Georgie tried to brush the crumbs off of her shirt, but it was no use, it just mixed with the icing. She rolled her eyes at him as she got up off the couch. "Behave yourself!" She warned him. Dillon growled, grabbing onto her waist and trying to pull her back toward him. "Oohh, I love it when you're feisty, it turns me on." He admitted, laughing. Maxie and Kyle started cracking up. Georgie carefully pulled away from him and went to answer the door. "Hey," Emily and Zander both said at the same time. "Hi!" Georgie said, going in for a hug, but quickly stopped. "Uhh, your cousin," she looked down at her shirt. Emily laughed, and gave her a peck on the cheek instead. "How are you feeling?" She asked, walking through the doorway, Zander right behind her. "Much better, thank you." She said, smiling. "Hi sweetheart." Zander said, giving Georgie a kiss on the cheek. Georgie smiled at them as they walked into the living room. "Hey!" Emily shouted happily, quickly giving Dillon a hug. "Happy birthday, you!" "Thank you," Dillon said, standing up and shaking Zander's hand. "Hey man, Happy birthday." He said. "Thanks," He said, turning toward Georgie. "Don't!" She warned, laughing. "I'm going to change my shirt." She said, walking away. "Oohh!" Dillon started to follow her, but she quickly turned around and put her hands on his chest. "You stay here!" Georgie laughed, kissing his lips quickly before walking into their bedroom and shutting the door. "Those two are so cute," Maxie admitted to anyone who was listening. "Oh, I know!" Emily agreed, sitting down at the couch next to her. Dillon had a huge smile pastured across his face, as he turned around and started walking back toward the couch, but the doorbell rang again. He went to answer it, Elizabeth and Lucky were standing on the other side. "Hi birthday boy!" Elizabeth said, hugging him. "Having fun?" She asked, touching his hair where the cake was. "Oh tons," He said, raising his eyebrow. "Hey," Lucky said, shaking his hand and pulling him in for a hug. "Happy birthday, man." "Thanks," Dillon said, shutting the door as they started to walk into the living room. Georgie came walking back into the living room, her hand rested on her belly. She smiled as she sat down next to Dillon in the chair. "Hi Elizabeth, Lucky." "Hey honey," Elizabeth said, smiling. "How are you?" "Fine," She said, nodding her head. "Hi sweetie," Lucky said, standing up to place a kiss on her cheek and gently rub her belly. He smiled and sat back down next to Elizabeth. "How's the little one doing?" "She is doing wonderful, according to Dr. Meadows." She said, receiving shocked looks from both Elizabeth and Lucky. "You're having a baby girl?" Elizabeth asked, her hand covering her mouth. "Yup," Georgie smiled proudly, laying her head against Dillon's chest. "And you didn't tell us, why?" Lucky asked, trying to sound hurt, but the smile that was plastured across his face said differently. "I'm sorry, we've just been so busy. The only reason Emily and Zander knew was because we had told Ned and Alexis as soon as we got back home." She explained. "And my sister, well, she's my sister," She said, laughing. Elizabeth laughed. "It's okay sweetie, we understand."
Dillon came up behind Georgie, who was washing dishes, and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I love you," He whispered into her ear, before softly kissing her neck. Georgie's head rolled to the side. "Mmm, I love you, too." He continued to kiss her neck, as she dropped the bowl that was in her hands back into the sink, quickly bringing her soapy hands to the back of Dillon's head and pushing it closer to her neck. "Oh goodness, we should really stop, baby," Georgie managed to say, but Dillon just continued to suck on her soft skin. "God, Dillon..." Georgie moaned, her eyes about rolling in the back of her head. "Someone could walk in, baby." "Ahem," Someone stood in the doorway of the kitchen, clearing their throat. "Shit," Dillon cursed, removing his lips from Georgie's skin and quickly running his fingers over the red spot he had left there, giving her chills. He turned around as Georgie continued to wash the dishes.

Chapter 33
Lucky, with a smile on his face, walked up to Dillon and lightly shoved him out of the kitchen. "I'll have him out of here in no time", he told her, pushing him out of there. Dillon looked back, and she flashed him a smile and blew him a quick kiss. "Man, you are so whipped", Lucky commented. "I know", Dillon told him. "And I'm the first to admit it."
Once everyone left and were out the door, Dillon leaned up against it, facing her. He couldn't take his eyes off her and she knew it. He took her about the waist and pulled her close. "So what did you get me for my birthday, baby?" His hand began to travel up the back of her shirt. Her arms that were up around his neck, slowly slid down his side and to the edge of his pants. She played with the belt buckle, and unfastened his jeans only enough to slide her hand in and around to his back, pushing his bottom half closer to her as she nibbled on his ear. "Oh God, Georgie." "What, baby?" She asked, nibbling on his chin. "Keep going. Please?" He hung his head as she unbuttoned his flannel and began kissing up and down his bare chest. She kissed her way back up his chest, purposely going slow, for she knew it would drive him out of his mind even more. "Oh come on, Georgie. I'm gonna lose it." When she was finally standing against him again, she dug her head into his neck and began sucking there, her hands sliding up and down his back beneath his shirt. When she began to use her fingernails, Dillon had to force himself not to scream out. She shoved away the flannel and slowly ran her hands down his arms, grabbing onto his hands. "Let's go", she whispered, and silently, she led him into their bedroom.
Georgie continued to kiss Dillon's lips as she led him to their bed. Once his knees hit it, he began to lean back, carefully pulling Georgie on top of him. He began to pull at the hem of of shirt. "Uh uh," She pulled away from him, smiling. "I'll be right back," She told him, hopping up off of the bed and hurrying into the bathroom. Dillon sighed as he waited in anticipation for her to come out of that bathroom. And when she did, he suddenly forgot how to breathe. "Wow!" he breathed as she stepped closer to him. She wore a red nighty. Only the under part of it was leather, and what was the silky top, was see through. The top layer that left nothing to the imagination was designed to be for an expecting mother, for it went out to form the shape across her expanded belly beautifully. She walked a bit closer until she reached him at the edge of the bed. "You like?" she whispered. "Oh yes, I like. I really, really like", he sat at the edge of the bed as his palms were placed at her waist and his cheek nuzzled her belly. Imagining Georgie in lingerie was never something that Dillon needed to see her in. But he now knew how wrong he was, because this was pretty damn nice. Georgie's hands went through his hair as he slowly began to stand, but she wasn't having it. She shoved him back down on the bed so that he was lying back against his pillow, staring up at her with a look in his eyes that she loved to see. She straddled him as her hands ran up and down his chest, never leaving his gaze. Dillon couldn't take it anymore, his eyes were about rolled up in the back of his head. He rose up on his elbows and she hugged him against her, straddling his lap as they sat up in bed. She dug her head into his shoulder as his hands ran up and down her back, arms, everywhere. Georgie slowly looked back up at him, her face was slightly flushed. Dillon gently ran his thumbs over her cheeks, rubbing at the redness. "You okay?" He asked softly. She nodded her head, smiling. "Yeah, I'm perfect." She said, as he held her around the waist, slowly lowering her onto the bed. Her head rested on the pillows as his body hovered over her. He smiled down at her, lowering his head and gently kissing her soft, strawberry flavored lips.

Chapter 34
Dillon and Georgie lay in bed the next morning, Dillon had cooked her pancakes for lunch and now they were just lying in bed, watching the videos on MTV. Georgie, with the remote in hand trembled and jumped a bit as Dillon decided to tickle her foot instead of just giving her the massage. "Hey!" She warned, pillow in hand, ready to throw. "Stop that!" "Couldn't resist, I'll stop." He continued rubbing on for a few moments and then pulled away. "Get dressed, sexy. I'm taking you somewhere." "No, please no. I just want to stay in bed all day, please?" "Nope, I want to take you to the beach", he informed her. "You expect me to get into a swimsuit with this big belly?" She asked, propping herself up on her elbows. "No," he sat down next to her on the edge of the bed. "Besides, I saw these little swimsuits for pregnant women and the bottom part goes over the stomach and shapes the belly perfectly." She bit her lip and smiled. "Have you been reading my Parenthood magazines again?" "No, I just saw them somewhere. That's what I'm getting you. But for today, I just want to take you down there and walk around the beach you know? Please?" He asked. "Ugh…Fine. I'll get some shorts on and maybe we can go down for a bit." "Great!" He began as he moved and hovered across her. "Ahh!" She laughed as his arms encircled her body and began blowing raspberries all over her body in bed.Chapter 34 Dillon and Georgie lay in bed the next morning, Dillon had cooked her pancakes for lunch and now they were just lying in bed, watching the videos on MTV. But for today, I just want to take you down there and walk around the beach you know? Please?" He asked. "Ugh…Fine. I'll get some shorts on and maybe we can go down for a bit." "Great!" He began as he moved and hovered across her. "Ahh!" She laughed as his arms encircled her body and began blowing raspberries all over her body in bed.
Georgie was in shorts and one of Dillon's T-shirts as she packed them a picnic basket full of snacks. 5 minutes later, they headed out the door. And they were down at the beach in minutes.
Georgie walked shoeless in the sand, holding Dillon's hand as his feet played in the water. She moved as quick as she could a little farther into the ocean so that the water went to her knees and back out again. Dillon chased her, giving her a little extra time so that she didn't know exactly how slow she was because of her belly, before he caught her up in his arms. They both stood in the water, as the waves crashed up onto their legs. Dillon's arms wrapped around Georgie's waist as he breathed quickly. "You're crazy, Georgie Jones. And I love you because of it." She smiled and leaned the side of her face against his chest. "I love you, too."
They'd spent the whole afternoon at the beach. Dillon made Georgie sit under an umbrella when he finally agreed to take a quick dip into the water. "I don't want our baby to come out all sunburnt," he told her. And she just looked at him and started busting a gut. "Dillon, that's not possible." "Oh, hush. You know what I meant," and he threw a towel at her. "Stay under that umbrella," he told her, as he went for a quick dive. The sun had gone down, and it was getting late. And one by one, the people were now packing up their things and leaving. "I'm so sad, we have to leave now," her head lay on her chest as they walked up the tiny hill to Dillon's car. "Not exactly. Here, follow me." Dillon led her over to a bush and pulled her down next to him. She tried not to laugh. "Dillon, what are you doing?" she asked. "Shh," he told her as he watched the man on patrol use his flashlight to survey the area. After several moments, and the guard was satisfied, he tucked away his flashlight back into his pocket and drove away. Dillon stepped out from behind the bushes. "Let's go," he told her. "Dillon, it's closed. The beach is closed for the night." "Not for us. Come on!" "Let's go," he told her. "Dillon, it's closed. The beach is closed for the night." "Not for us. Come on!"
"Honey," Dillon said as he laid the blanket back onto the sand again, Georgie standing close to him. "I promise, we won't stay too late." She just looked at him, her arms were crossed across her chest in an attempt to be angry with him, but it wasn't working very well. "Come on," he said, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her body closer to his. "I just want to lay here under the stars, listening to the waves crash onto the shore, with you by my side." Georgie rolled her eyes and giggled a bit. "You watch way too many classic films," she informed him. He tried to look hurt. "But I love you anyway." She said, smiling brightly as she gently kissed his lips. Once she pulled away, she carefully sat down on the blanket, Dillon sitting down next to her. Dillon lay back and pulled Georgie down alongside him, allowing her to lay her head on his chest to cuddle. "I guess this is nice," she admitted, smiling. "I'm glad we did this." "See, always listen to the master," he tried not to giggle. "Don't expect me to jump out of a bottle and cross my arms along my chest, bobbing my head up and down at any second." They both laughed. "You talk too much," Dillon informed her. Georgie's jaw dropped as she turned to look up at him. "You are so mean! Look at you, you never shut up." "See, you're doing it again. Shh, no more talking. Our baby will get her first headache." Georgie stuck out her bottom lip in a pout, shoving at him. He laughed, pulling her close again and kissing her forehead, "I'm kidding, baby. And you know it."

Chapter 35
He waited for his eyes to adjust to the brightness that shown in through the curtains in their room. Shielding his eyes with the back of his hand, he looked down at her sleeping figure. She looked too adorable lying there, all tangled up between the blankets, the cream colored sheets wrapped so clumsily around her body. And then her legs, one of her bare legs dangled around his calf, all curved up against his thigh and between the sheets. He bit his lip as he forced himself not to drift back to last night when she'd practically mauled him before they even got through the front door, coming back from the beach. And then they'd come into their bedroom... And her arms, one arm was resting comfortably across his chest, and her hand had drifted sometime in the middle of the night down to his torso where she was now holding him. And so, he couldn't help it as he shifted his weight a little in bed, and began running his hand all along her arm, then he moved to the inside where his fingertips brushed the soft, silky skin. But she still wasn't budging, and that was one of her ticklish spots. How can this be? He thought to himself. So he moved along her body and began kissing her neck, softly at first. And then he pushed a bit of her hair away and began sucking on the soft skin.
After a few seconds, he pulled away and looked back up at her, his nose scrunched up, she looked so peaceful and cute just laying there the way she was. He looked toward their dresser where his camera was laying and he got an idea. Carefully, he got up off the bed and moved toward the dresser picking up the camera; 10 pictures left, that was plenty, he thought to himself. He looked at the window, there was just enough light shining through so that he didn't have to turn any lights on. Moving back toward their bed, he took a picture of Georgie. She looked so beautiful, laying there with the sheets wrapped around her body just perfectly, some skin, but not too much, showing. The sun shone through the curtains onto her body, reflecting off the glow that she already had because of the pregnancy. He laughed to himself when she still didn't move. Ever since she had gotten pregnant, her sleeping pattern had changed tremendously; not only did she go to bed early at night, she also slept sounder then she ever had before. He took another picture, this time Georgie stirred just a little bit, but didn't wake up. Moving around to her side of the bed, he got down on his knees and after making sure the flash was on, he took yet another picture. This time, she stirred a little more and reached for him. When she didn't feel anything, her eyes quickly flew open and she began to look around the room. "Dillon?" She called out. "I'm right here," he assured her, carefully hopping back onto the bed. "What are you doing?" She asked, noticing the camera in his hand. "Uhh," he set it down on the nightstand and smiled at her. "Just taking a few pictures." "Of me?" She asked, surprised. "Dillon, I wasn't even awake yet, I probably look..." She was cut off before she could finish her sentence, his lips quickly crashing down on hers. He pulled away smiling. "You look beautiful," he informed her. "Right, I look like a zombie." She replied. "Hush," he told her, lightly touching her nose with his forefinger. She sat up in bed, the cream colored sheets wrapped about her front half as she lay her head in her hands and groaned. "I need coffee." "You can't have coffee anymore, babe." He sat up, one arm around his leg. He stuck his tongue out at her. "Ugh, shut up. Don't remind me." She threw a pillow at him. "I will go make you some hot tea though." He kissed her forehead and climbed out of bed. "Thank you, baby."
Reaching for the remote, she leaned up against the headboard, pulling the covers up around her front half. The television clicked on and her eyebrows bunched up as the woman on the weather channel was pointing to their location. "We'll be seeing a lot of rain and thunder within the next, oh 30 minutes or so. It's coming from up North, so we want you all prepared. It's more than likely going to last through the afternoon and partly through tonight. The showers will be heavy, and there is some chance of hail coming your way." She immediately clicked the off button and got a little freaked as she looked out of the window. The beautiful sun was already gone and she didn't like the look of the clouds. Dillon entered their room, stretching. "The water is on, babe." He climbed in bed with her. "You all right?" He rubbed her back a little as she curled up next to him against the headboard. "There's a thunderstorm headed our way, icky." Dillon bit his lip to keep from laughing. "Hey, don't laugh at me!" Her head raised a little up his chest, relaxing the side of her face against his bare skin, holding him against her. "I'm sorry, baby. I just find it amusing that you're so scared of a little thunder." "Ohh, that's it." She pulled away and hit him with her pillow. "You are so mean!" He laughed, grabbing the pillow from her. "You know, what are you going to do when the baby is born?" She asked, crossing her arms over her chest. He raised his eyebrow, not quite understanding her question. "The baby is most definitely not going to like the sound of thunder," she informed him. "Hmm, just another way she'll take after her mother." He laughed, sticking his tongue out at her again. "Ha you're a funny one today, aren't you?" She looked back toward the window. "Honey, can we just stay in bed all day? We don't have anything planned, right?" "Hmm, nope, nothing at all." He said, shaking his head. "Do you seriously want to stay in bed all day?" He asked. "Well, don't you?" She asked, running her hand up his leg and back down again. "Oh hell yes!" He laughed, leaning forward and kissing her lips. "I'll be right back." Georgie laughed. "Okay," she said, leaning her head back again the headboard.
5 minutes later, Dillon came in with her tea. After sipping a bit of it, she sat it on the nightstand and Dillon scooted closer to her, taking her under his arm so that she could lean her head against his chest. The first cackle of thunder was heard and Georgie jumped. Dillon smiled at the fact that she'd clutched onto him so tight. He brushed his hands across her hair. "It's okay baby." He told her. She relaxed for a moment and then she pulled him close, running her hands along his back with her fingertips, causing Dillon to shudder.
The thunderstorms were getting worse and it was getting late. It was now practically dark out, and not just because of the thunderclouds. And then she heard the flicker. "Oh crap…" "Its all right, really." He calmed her. And then the lights went out. "It's all right, huh?" She felt around for him and hit him across the shoulder, grabbing onto him and pulling him close. "Talk about change of heart. One minute you're shoving me and the next you're pulling me against you. Make up your mind, baby." He tried to make her laugh and it worked, sort of. She smiled and giggled. "I'm sorry, baby. But I'm really scared." He rubbed her back a moment. "Here, I'm gonna go get a lantern." "No," she tugged at his shirt as he tried to climb off the bed. "Honey," his hand went to the side of her face and then cupped her chin, kissing her forehead. "I'll be right back." He whispered. Leaving the door slightly open, he quickly went to the kitchen and beneath the cabinets in the centerpiece of the tiled floor, he opened them to find a lantern. Then he crossed to the living room and pulled out some of Georgie's scented candles and grabbed the matches from the silverware drawer. Carrying it all in, he set them down, lighting the lantern and setting it on the dresser. On the nightstand, he lined two candles on each side of the bed. "There, is that a little better?" He asked her climbing into bed. "Much," she whispered, cuddling up next to him.
With the lantern dancing little figures across the walls, Georgie sat up straight in bed. Dillon came around her from behind and straddled her from behind, placing his legs around her body. “This comfortable for you?” He whispered, kissing the tops of her shoulders. She nodded, pulling back her hair and leaning against him. “Well honey, um…I can’t rub your back if you’re laying on me.” “Ohh, right," she rose up in her first position. “Um, also.” His finger went to his lips and then he rested his hand on top of her shirt. “Maybe we should take this off…” He whispered into her ear. “But Dillon…” “It’s only me. I’m the only one who will see, no one is coming out in this weather tonight, believe me. And you can hold the sheet up against you the whole time.” She smiled, “All right.” Dillon watched as she slowly unbuttoned his flannel that she’d put on earlier and she slid it off her shoulders, pulling the sheet up around her front. “This better?” She asked in a small, innocent voice. He loved how she still tried to act shy at times. “Much. Now lean forward just a little, only as far as you can without hurting yourself.” She obeyed and Dillon got out all the lotion and supplies, rubbing it together in his palms and then slowly beginning to rub it into Georgie’s skin, starting up at her shoulders and inching his way down to the middle of her back. “Mmm…” She moaned. And Dillon caught his breath as he took in her bare shoulders. He rubbed awhile longer, being sure to leave her satisfied. “Okay, is that better baby?” He asked, kissing the back of her neck and pulling her back against him. “Yes, baby. Much.” He began sucking at her neck. “Dillon?” She asked quietly. “Hmm?” “Do you mind if we cuddle?” She asked him. He turned her around to face him and he brought his lips to hers, answering her question. “Of course, baby," he told her when they pulled away. He cleared off the bed and pulled back the covers. Georgie was still without clothing and Dillon pulled off his shirt because the room was starting to get a little warm for him, something that Georgie and the baby needed but he did not. He scooted down the headboard and pulled her body close to his, he lay on his side and she lay in front of him, facing him and burying her head into his neck. “I love you so much, Dillon.” He kissed her forehead. “I love you too, baby.”

Chapter 36
Dillon watched as she ran all over the house like a chicken with her head chopped off.
“Dillon! Don’t laugh at me, I can’t find my mother’s earrings!!”
“Georgie”, he said gently. “We’re going over there for dinner, no one is going to be checking out your ears. Well, except me, if I like, nibble on them or something.”
She rolled her eyes and he pulled her into him, his head inclining so that his lips could meet her left earlobe.
She giggled. “No!” she pushed him away, laughing. “I have to find those earrings!”
He sat back against the counter in the kitchen, folding his arms across his chest with a smile, yeah he couldn’t be more certain that what he was about to do would make him even more happier than he ever thought he could be.
“Mama!” Georgie yelled, stepping inside the foyer of the house she grew up in and hugging Felicia tight.
Felicia relished in it all, holding her daughter against her and touching Georgie’s hair, running her fingers through it.
“It’s been too long”, Felicia pulled away and held her at arms length. “Well, look at you, even more beautiful than ever, just a few more months now, huh.” She wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Oh I know, Mama. Hey, don’t do that, you’ll make me cry…”
Dillon placed his chin on top of Georgie’s shoulder.
“Yeah, she’s not exaggerating either”, he said with a smile.
“You hush!” she blushed and then turned to Felicia when Mac extended his hand to Dillon and brought him against his chest in a quick embrace.
“I know it’s been too long, so I just thought I’d call you and when you invited us over, it was just wonderful.”
Georgie and Felicia laughed about old times as they looked through the family photo album. Georgie busted a gut when she saw a picture of Maxi on her 7th birthday with cake frosting all over her face. The caption beneath the picture read, “I have frosting up my nose!”
“Oh goodness, that was too perfect. She was screaming that for months afterward, every single time someone brought up her 7th birthday, she’d freak and say that.”
“Oh I see how it is, the moment I leave, you guys go all Let’s-Make-Fun-of-Maxi on me. I am so hurt”, they heard a voice from the doorway.
Georgie looked up to see Maxi standing in the doorway. She would have jumped up, but as always, she reminded herself that she had about 19 pounds in her front.
“No, don’t get up, sis.” Maxi stepped into the living room and walked around the couch, sitting on Georgie’s other side and hugging her.
“Hey you. How are you?” Georgie asked.
“I’m good, and how is my little niece doing?” Maxi’s hand went to Georgie’s stomach and Georgie slid it over a little to the right where she knew the baby would be kicking.
“Wow!” she said a little too loud. “Sorry”, when she saw her mother and sister and Dillon staring at her. “I’ve just never felt her kick that hard before.”
“Yep, she’s going to be a soccer player in grade school through high shcool, she’s going to the best college around to study in medicine, she’s not getting her first boyfriend until she’s 35, and yeah, we’ve got it basically all planned out”, Dillon said from the recliner.
Georgie laughed at Maxi’s _expression.
“In his head, anyway”, Georgie whispered.
Felicia sat on the couch with her daughters as they continued looking through photo albums. She and Dillon exchanged an understanding glance. His hands rested on the arm rests, but she could tell that they were shaking, and for good reason. So she gave him a reassuring smile.
She patted Georgie’s leg and stood, heading to the kitchen to check on dinner.
Maxi laughed. “Hey Dillon, come here. I want you to see this picture of Georgie.”
Georgie hid her head, blushing.
Smiling, he walked around to the back of the couch, hovering over the two girls.
He started busting a gut when he saw what picture she was referring to. Georgie, about 7 or 8 months old, sat in a high chair with spaghetti all over her face and up her nose.
“Hey!” she hit him in the arm.
Maxi laughed. “Hey, now you know what your baby will look like when you start feeding her spaghetti.”
"Ugh, ya’ll are so mean!" Georgie tried to act hurt as she set the photo album back onto the coffee table.
"Hey babe, we're just joking." Dillon assured her, sticking his tongue out at her.
"Yeah, yeah.." She rolled her eyes at him, leaning back against the cushions on the couch.
"Oh man, this baby is so going to take after the both of you." Maxie laughed. "You guys act like little kids on the playground."
"You hush!" Georgie told her.
Felicia laughed as she looked over at Dillon.
He smiled and nodded his head slightly.
"Sweetie," Felicia said, putting her hand on Georgie's knee. "We have a surprise for you upstairs. Come with me?" She asked.
Georgie's eyes got wide. "What did you do?" She asked as she started to stand up, and she finally succeeded with the help of Maxie.
"You'll see," she said smiling.
"I'll be right back." Georgie said quickly, kissing Dillon's lips.
"Okay," he said quietly, smiling up at her.
Maxi and Dillon sit quietly on the couch, Dillon bit his lip as he focused in on a picture of he and Georgie that sit on the shelf across from them.
“Dillon, you have nothing to worry about, really. He knows how much you love her.”
“I know, anyone can see how much I love her, but he’s not going to make this easy on me, I know it.” He finally turned his head to look at her. “You didn’t tell him, right?”
Maxi gave him a disapproving glance. “Dillon, I promised I wouldn’t. Mom’s been having a hard time keeping it from him though. She’s pretty excited.”
He smiled. “I was hoping I’d have her approval.”
“Um, Dillon. I should really go get him now. I mean, they’re not going to be upstairs, looking at Georgie’s old room that we set up as the nursery forever.”
“You’re right. You can go get him now.”
She placed a hand on his shoulder. “Good luck. You’ll do fine.”
She stepped away and walked into the kitchen. “Mac?”
“Yeah?” he called back.
“Dillon would like to see you.”
Felicia stepped behind her and placed her palms over Georgie’s eyes, blindfolding her eyes with her hands. She already had tears in her eyes as she reached over and opened the door, stepping Georgie in a little at a time.
“Keep them closed”, she reached back and turned on the light by the door.
Georgie opened her eyes and slowly, they ran along the walls, the carpet, everything. Tears stung at them as she slowly turned around to take it all in.
The walls were now all pink, her posters were down. Where her bed had been for 17 years, there was now a crib. Dressers were no longer there. They were replaced with a baby changing station, a small dresser that had a baby closet above it. Several baby clothes, mostly pajamas, were already hung there on the pole running along the wall on the back of the dresser. The carpet was a pale, white color.
A little baby, toy chest sat in the corner with a Precious Moment fabric covering on it. The chest would stay locked until the baby was old enough. Wholes were drilled into the back so that if something did happen and the baby were to climb inside, she would be able to breathe.
Georgie went to the other side of the room, touching the walls with her fingertips, running them along the edges. Everything was perfect, right down to the little light covering of a Precious Moment.
A baby mobile hung over the crib. She walked over to it and looked inside, touching the pink baby blanket and lifting out a small stuffed teddy. She hugged it to her chest.
“This used to be mine.”
“Yes”, Felicia said with tears in her eyes. “Yes, it was.”
Georgie placed back into the crib and ran her hands along the bedding.
And then she turned around and just walked straight into her mother’s arms.
“Thank you. Thank you so much.”
Dillon heard something behind him and immediately stood, shoving his hands in his pockets, for he didn’t know what to do with them.
“Mr. Scorpio…Could I please have a word with you outside?”
Mac raised his eyebrows, but he just laughed to himself, shaking his head. He walked over to him, patting a hand on his back.
“Lighten up, Dillon. I’m not going to go after you with my gun”, he laughed. “But sure. We can go outside if you’d like.”
Both Georgie and Felicia pulled away with tears falling down their cheeks. Felicia cupped her daughter’s face with her palms.
“You’re very welcome. We thought that this could be a place for the baby when you stay here. Or even just a place to take a nap, or to play.”
“Well”, she looked around, wiping her tears away. “It was a wonderful idea.”
They stepped out onto the porch and Mac closed the door.
“You might want to sit down, Mr. Scorpio.”
Mac took one look at him and started laughing.
“I’m sorry, Dillon. I’m really sorry, its just that I can’t help laughing when you’re serious like this. I know that this is something important to you, it must be, but really call me Mac and I will sit but only because I’ve been on my feet all day.”
Mac sat down on the porch swing and Dillon leaned up against the back of the porch, facing Mac.
“Shoot”, he told him when he was comfortable.
“Okay”, Dillon took a deep breath. “Listen, you’ve known me for what 3 years now? And I know that we haven’t always exactly seen eye to eye on things. And I know that when I say this, you’re going to be thinking that I’m only doing it because of the baby but I’m not. That’s why I waited. I won’t be doing this just because of the baby, I’ll be doing it because I love Georgie and I want to spend the rest of my life making her happy…”
Mac suddenly felt a warmth travel up through his spine and into his neck. It hit him what Dillon was about to ask him.
“Get to the point, Dillon.”
“Yes, I…” he took one more deep breath before he asked his question. “I want to ask your daughter to marry me. But of course, I would like your permission before doing so…sir.”

Chapter 37
Mac smiled at the young man standing in front of him. He had to admit, he had really grown up in the last 3 years since he had met him. At first, he was nothing but trouble, but over the years he had really fallen in love with his daughter. They were having a baby, and now he was asking for her hand in marriage. Even though it made him sad to think about having to let go of his youngest daughter, he knew that Dillon would take great care of her.
Dillon had averted his eyes from Mac’s a few moments ago and as he watched the older man sit, thinking about it all and letting it sink in, he thought that Mac really was going to get out his gun.
So, thinking all of that, Dillon was surprised when Mac slowly stood and made eye contact with him. Dillon slowly looked up.
Then Mac extended his hand, and as Dillon made connection to his brain and realized what Mac was doing, he in turn, accepted the gesture and Mac grasped onto his hand.
“You’re right, we haven’t always seen eye to eye on things. And I never understood what my daughter saw in you until ironically, she found out that she was pregnant and you were there for her every step of the way. I not only watched my daughter grow into a beautiful young woman these last few years but I have also gotten the pleasure of watching you as well, grow and mature.”
Dillon stood there, his hand clasped firmly in Mac’s, as he felt that tears would sting his eyes at any minute as he thought about his own father, Paul Hornsby who had never been there for him a day in his life. He should be having this conversation with his own father.
“I have come to respect you a lot in the last few months, Dillon. And I know that I couldn’t ask for a better person for my daughter to spend the rest of her life with.”
Mac pulled him into his chest for a moment and said, “Welcome to the family.”
Georgie carefully stepped off the last step, Felicia right behind her.
"Whew, I do not miss those!" Georgie said laughing as she pointed to the staircase.
Felicia laughed as they walked into the living room.
Maxie came walking out of the kitchen. "Hey Mom, there is still about an hour left until dinner is done."
Felicia sighed. "I knew we should have started it sooner," she said looking up at the clock.
"It's okay, really. Dillon and I don't have anywhere else to be." Georgie assured her, looking over toward the couch. "Hey, where did he go?" She asked, quickly looking back over at Maxie.
"Oh, he's outside on the porch with Dad." Maxie told her, but before she could say anything else, Georgie was on her way to the front door.
"Georgie," Felicia went after her daughter, but it was too late.
"What are you two laughing at?" Georgie asked, stepping onto the porch.
Dillon and Mac quickly turned their heads to look at her.
Felicia, who was now standing in the doorway, could tell by the looks on both Dillon and Mac's face that things had went well and she smiled to herself.
"Nothing much, just catching up," Mac told her.
"Oh, that's nice." She said, walking toward Dillon, who kissed her forehead.
Mac sat on the swing, watching them, and it suddenly became clear to him that he had made the right decision, and he smiled.
"Honey, you have to see what they did to my old room." She told him, grabbing his hand. "We'll be back, Dad." Georgie said, smiling at Mac as she began pulling Dillon toward the front door.
Before they entered the house, Dillon quickly turned to face Mac. "Thank you," he whispered.
"Georgie, baby, be careful." Dillon reminded her as she quickly went up the last three steps.
Once she reached the bedroom door she turned to face him. "I'm sorry, I'm just really excited."
Dillon smiled at her as she turned and opened the door.
"Oh wow," he said, stepping into the room. "Everything looks so different." He said, walking around the room.
He looked across the room and saw the crib. He turned to look at Georgie who was still standing by the door, her hands resting on her belly. He smiled at her and began walking toward the crib.
His hands gently ran across the wooden bars, and then he looked up at the mobile and he spun it around. "Our baby girl is really going to fit in here?" He asked.
Georgie laughed as she walked to where he was standing. "Well, honey, she isn't going to be that big, of course she'll fit in here."
"Wow," he said. Without taking his eyes off the crib, his hand quickly went to the small of Georgie's back and began to rub it.
“I love you," she told him.
He looked at her, a huge smile pastured across his face. "I love you, too." He told her, turning her body so that she was facing him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him, gently placing his lips on hers.
Dillon and Georgie walked hand and hand down the steps, carefully and headed into the living room with everyone else. Dillon sat in the recliner and Georgie sat down across his lap, wrapping one arm around his neck.
“So what’s up guys?” she asked everyone.
“Nothing, supper won’t be ready for about another hour so we thought that maybe…”
Mac walked in with a huge cardboard box, dragging it in behind him.
Georgie began to get excited.
“What is this?” she asked.
“Well get down here and see”, Mac told her. And Georgie looked to Dillon with wide eyes as they both went to sit on the floor. Dillon helped her sit as she pulled the box toward them.
All of the gifts were wrapped in pink baby paper and some of them even had a white silky ribbon tied in a bow along the tops. Dillon took the bow off of one of them and laid it on top of her head in her hair. Letting it stay there, she stuck her tongue out at him with a smile as she ripped into her first one.
Dillon’s first one that he grabbed was a small box and as he flipped open the side, he found a small pink baby rattle. Baby Girl was written along the front, on the top part.
Dillon showed her with a huge smile on his face as he rattled it.
“Aww! Our baby’s first rattle!”
She ripped into her package, which was a bit larger to find another baby mobile, similar to the one upstairs but this one was even nicer. It was definitely new.
Finally, when Dillon and Georgie were all through with opening their gifts, they ended up with a baby monitor, 6 receiving blankets, 4 bibs, 2 pacifiers, 8 bottles, and their first set of diapers.
“Oh my goodness”, Georgie said in shock. “I cannot believe that you all bought this stuff for us…”
Dillon sat back against the couch, amazed. He pulled Georgie along with him and she sat between his legs, facing her family with her hands on her belly.
“We are so eternally grateful to you guys, really. We didn’t expect this at all”, Dillon told them.
Maxi, Mac, and Felicia sat along the couch, in all smiles.
“Well, Kyle and I bought some of the stuff. Mom and Dad bought some of it. Aunt Bobbie sent over the baby monitor. So with all of us together, it really didn’t take much to put it all together. It was nothing”, Maxi told them.
“Hey, it wasn’t nothing to us. Really, this means so much to us”, Dillon said.
Felicia thought she’d cry as she stood along with Maxi and Mac as they headed toward the couple. Dillon slowly helped Georgie to her feet so that she could hug her family.
“Thank you so much”, Georgie wrapped her arms tightly around each one of them.
Felicia headed into the kitchen for one moment and when she came back out she told them “Hey guys, supper is finally ready. Come on!”
Dillon helped her into the door, setting his keys on the nightstand and leading Georgie to the couch.
“I’ll be right back”, he kissed her on the forehead and headed back outside. A few minutes later, he returned with the boxes of things that Mac, Felicia, Maxi, Kyle, and Bobbie had bought for them. Carrying them to the nursery, Georgie watched and with one hand on her belly, she raised up slowly off the couch. And with one hand beneath her belly, holding the weight off her back, and the other on top, she walked into the nursery and stood at Dillon’s side. Her arm went around his back.
“Hey baby”, he moved his arm and wrapped it around her shoulders and she leaned into his chest.
“I can’t wait until we get this room fixed up. It’s going to be so nice”, Georgie told him.
“Oh I know, neither can I honey.”
Dillon leaned down and took out the blankets and bottles, handing them to Georgie so that she could fold the blankets and put them beneath the changing table. And Dillon unpacked everything else, setting things on the floor in the corner and he placed the baby rattle on Georgie’s old dresser.
He took her by the shoulders and let her lean into him.
“Come on, baby. Let’s go to sleep.”
He led her out into the living room, closing the door behind him after taking one more look into the nursery.
Georgie slipped on her nightgown and climbed into bed next to Dillon, cuddling up close to him and laying her head on his chest. Dillon’s fingers played with her hair but she still got the feeling that something had upset him.
“Dillon, are you all right?”
He closed his eyes, she’d noticed.
“Yes, I’m all right. Why do you ask?”
She rose up off his chest to look him in the eye.
“Don’t lie to me, Dillon. I know that something’s upset you. What’s going on?”
Dillon gave her a small grateful smile and his fingers flew to her cheek, she nuzzled them for one moment.
“Tell me”, she lay her head back down onto his chest, taking his hand and linking their fingers.
“Your father…He was really there for me today, and…and it just got me thinking about my own father.”
Georgie lifted her head and looked at him, her hand raising up and allowing her fingers to push back a few strands of his crazy hair behind his ear.
“Go on”, she whispered as she lay her chin on her hands on top of his chest so that she could watch him.
“Well, with me becoming a father as well now you know, I guess I’ve just been thinking about how my own father wasn’t there for me. And Mac, today he was really cool with me. It reminded me of what my own father would have been like if he had stuck around.”
Georgie bit her lip, forcing the tears back.
“I had no idea…” she was too worried about Dillon to think about what conversation he and Mac could have possibly been having.
He shook his head. “It doesn’t matter, you couldn’t have known anyway. But listen to me, Georgie…” He rolled her on her side and positioned himself above her to the side, his hand resting at her side and then moving slowly to her expanded belly.
“I need you to know that no matter what, I will never do that to our daughter. I’ll be here for you and her no matter what happens. I’ll always be here for you two.”
"Honey, I know that," Georgie looked up at him, trying to assure him that she knew everything he was saying was true.
"I just need you to know, I don't want to do the same thing my father did." He told her, tears forming in his eyes.
She cupped his face with her palms and pulled him down across her, kissing his lips softly at first. And then her arms went around him and tightened around his shoulders, as she parted his lips with her own and plunged his tongue sweetly into his mouth. When they pulled away, her palm came around to the side of his face as she looked into his glassy eyes.
“I know”, she whispered. “And you’re going to be a wonderful father.”
She felt the baby kick and they both laughed, for Dillon felt it as well.
“See? Our daughter agrees”, she told him.
Dillon smiled, burying his head between her neck and shoulder, holding her against him.
“I love you, Georgie”, he said into her neck, kissing the soft spot.
“I love you too, baby.”
And as he lay there with her, he couldn’t wait for morning when he would be asking her to spend the rest of his life with him.

Chapter 38
"Rise and shine, porcupine!" Dillon slowly began to open his eyes, fearing what he would see.
Emily, Elizabeth and Maxie were standing beside his bed, a bunch of bags in their hands.
"Come on, sleepy head!" His cousin shouted.
"Okay, okay," Dillon said groggily as he began to sit up. "Just no more yelling," he told them, rubbing his temples. "You're going to give me a migraine."
"Aww, poor baby," Elizabeth teased. "Come on, we've got a lot to do."
"Georgie is already gone," Maxie informed him. "Kyle took her out for the day."
“Oh that’s nice, you could have at least let me kiss her goodbye”, he began to climb out of bed.
“Whoa whoa”, Maxi stepped back and covered her eyes. “Are you decent?”
Dillon raised his eyebrows. “Yes, I’m decent. I wouldn’t get out of bed with you in here if I wasn’t.”
She stuck her tongue out at him, causing Liz and Emily to laugh.
“Oh, and for your information”, Emily began. “Georgie was in the shower when we got here so we let ourselves in and as soon as she was dressed, we forced her butt on out of here. She says good morning and she’ll see you when the crazies get done with her.”
He smiled to himself as he followed them on out.
“Let’s get started”, he told them, running his hands through his hair and stretching.
"Kyle," Georgie called out, looking at the maternity clothing store they had entered a few minutes earlier. "Where are you?"
She began to walk around, making her way around a few racks of clothing. "Kyle?" She called out again, this time panic began to rise in her voice.
"What's up, babe?" He asked, jumping out from behind one of the racks with a cute pink sweater in his hand.
"Oh my goodness," Georgie sighed, her hands coming up to rest on her chest. Once she got her breathing back to normal, she smacked his chest. "You are so immature!" She told him, and began walking away.
"Hey!" Kyle called after her, trying to sound hurt. When she just kept walking, he began to run after her. "I'm sorry," he told her, stopping in front of her so that she couldn't walk away from him again. "I was just playing, I didn't mean to scare you." He said, as she stuck her tongue out at him.
"Nice," He smiled at her. "Now go try this on." He instructed, giving her the pink sweater.
"Why?" She asked.
"Because," He said, guiding her toward one of the dressing rooms. "I want to buy a few things for you."
“Okay what first?” he asked, as he followed them into the kitchen.
“You”, Maxi pulled out the kitchen chair at the table. “Sit here”, she instructed. And he did so, then she pulled out a packet of note cards from the bad that she’d been carrying and set them in front of him, along with a pen.
“All right, you told us about how you wanted to do that whole memories thing. So you write down those favorite moments on those and we’ll do the flowers, okay?”
He lifted one brow. “You’re too damn bossy”, he told her.
“Oh you know what…Get started!”
Georgie stepped out of the small dressing room with the pink sweater that Kyle had told her to try on and a pair of capris that she’d picked up on the shelf going in. She stepped out and modeled them, making a small turn.
“What do you think?” she asked.
“Wow, hot”, he nodded his head in approval.
She laughed. “Hey, I’m pregnant. Now I know you’re lying because there is no way I look hot when I’ve got this huge belly in front of me.”
“Yeah, think what you want. I know hot when I see it. And I think that you being pregnant makes you even hotter. Now get those things off so I can pay for them.”
He turned back around when she didn’t budge and saw her with her hands on her hips and her left foot lifting up and down on the floor.
“No way are you buying these things for me.”
“Shut up and get dressed”, he told her, pointing at her with his finger. “Or I’ll buy you more.”
She stuck her tongue out at him as she reluctantly went back into the fitting room to change.
"All done!" Dillon said proudly, putting the stack of cards with the memories written on them on the coffee table.
"Watch it!" Elizabeth warned, walking passed him as she spread more of the rose petals on the carpet.
He looked at her like she was crazy, but instead of saying anything, just sat down on the couch.
Emily laughed, sitting down next to him. "You nervous?" She asked, already knowing the answer to her own question when she saw that his hands were shaking.
"Yeah," he admitted, watching as Maxie and Elizabeth continued to spread the different colored rose petals on the entire carpet.
"Don't worry, everything is going to be fine." She assured him, resting her head on his shoulder.
When they were through, Maxi went to the table and picked up the cards.
“Excuse me”, he told his cousin as he quickly stood and ran to the table, taking the cards out of her hand and hiding them behind his back.
“You can’t read those.”
Maxi fought the giggles and crossed her arms over her chest.
“Well you know what that means, there must be some pretty juicy stuff written on them”, she lifted one arm over her head, trying to get them away from him as she reached behind Dillon to try and get the cards away.
“You are no fun…at all”, she teased and walked away.
Dillon let out a breath.
Kyle checked his watch as they stepped outside the store. It was time to get her back home.
“Hey, let’s get for home, all right?”
“Great, because I am starving. All that trying on clothes worked up an appetite. Let’s go!”
Dillon stood in front of the full-length mirror in their room. He wore black dress pants, a white button down the front, along with a jacket. The jacket lay on the bed, for he was still messing with the tie.
Maxi stepped in.
“Need any help?”
“Yes, please”, he said through gritted teeth. “I suck when I’m nervous.”
She went over to him, using her fingers to work with the tie.
He looked up, taking a deep breath, then he glanced over at the cloth on the dresser.
“Max, I seriously hope your boyfriend isn't mauling my soon to be fiancée.”
Maxi laughed, just about done. “Hey a little mauling never hurt anyone!”
She got it, taking her hands away, she took a look at her handywork.
“I am good!” she told him.
“With a tie maybe, anything else is questionable.”
“Hey!” she hit him in the arm. “See if I ever help you out again.”
He stuck his tongue out at her. “I’m messin with ya, Max.”
He took a deep breath.
“You ready?” she asked. “I’m heading out.”
“Yep”, he told her, his hands shaking. “I’m ready.”
By the time Kyle pulled up into the driveway, Emily and Elizabeth had left, along with Maxie, agreeing to take her home. It was starting to get dark out, but the porch light had been turned on.
"Want me to help you into the house?" Kyle asked, putting the car in park.
Georgie shook her head as he handed her the bag. "No, I'll be fine. Thank you for taking me out today, I had fun." She told him, reaching across the seat as best she could to hug him and then kiss his cheek. "And thank you for my new outfit."
Kyle laughed. "You're welcome. I'm glad you had fun."
She nodded her head, stepping out of the car and shutting the door. "I'll see you soon, tell Maxie I'll call her tomorrow."
"Okay, will do. See you soon, sweetie." He said, blowing her a kiss as she laughed. "Have a goodnight," he said, winking at her.
"Night, Kyle." She said, carefully walking up the few steps to the front door and opening it slowly just as he backed out of the driveway and drove down the road.
"Dillon?" Georgie called out.
The house was dark, except for the light that was dimmed in the corner and a few candles that were lit throughout the living room.
She looked down at the floor and noticed a bunch of rose petals; red, yellow, white, pink, yellow with a red tip, and lavender, to be exact, scattered about.

Chapter 39
Georgie looked around the living room, taking everything in; the smell of the rose petals mixed with the smell of the burning scented candles.
Slowly, she began to make her way to a card that was hanging from a string that was attached to the ceiling. She placed her hands on each side, and read it out loud.
"You know how people talk about the one defining moment in their lives, that no matter what happens, they'll never be able to forget? Well, I have a lot of them and these are just a start. This memory I want you to remember, is when we had our very first kiss..."
She felt dizzy, not only because she was about to take a trip down memory lane but she was completely overwhelmed at what Dillon had done. Taking in the smell of the flowers once more, her palm went to her belly as she thought back to that first kiss.
Dillon had invited her over to the Quartemaine pool for a swim. And so, Georgie was nothing short of grateful when Maxi had just taken her out for a new bikini a couple of weeks ago.
“I’ll be right over!” she told him.
So she rode her bike over there and they both held hands and ran into the pool.
“Cannonball!” they both yelled at the same time, and then they splashed into the water.
After chasing and dunking each other for about 3 hours, Dillon swam over to the side of the pool, his arms dangled around the edges.
Georgie frowned. “You’re not wore out yet are you, Quartemaine?”
Dillon laughed. “Just give me a minute, that’s all I need.”
So she swam over and stood in front of him with her hands on her hips.
“You are a wimp”, she simply stated.
Dillon’s jaw dropped. “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah!” she countered.
Dillon laughed. "Come here you!" He pulled her toward him, his arms holding her about the waist.
Her forehead gently lay against his as she listened to his soft, steady breathing.
Slowly, he pulled her a little closer to his body, his arms wrapping more tightly around her waist.
It was only natural for Georgie's arms to snake about his neck and for her legs to wrap around his waist. And then she watched him as something changed with him. He was watching her more intently.
Not sure if this is what she wanted, he slowly leaned into her, just a little as to not scare her away. He was surprised when she started leaning in as well, following his movements.
They both closed their eyes as their lips touched, soft at first, barely brushing against each others.
Dillon's palms found her cheeks, and he gently began to rub them as he started to deepen the kiss, making sure it was what she wanted.
When he felt her tongue brush against his, his hands went to the back of her head, pushing her just a little closer.
She bit her lip, forcing the tears to stay away as she walked to the next card that dangled from the string. She pulled it off and read this one to herself as well.
Okay, so what can I say? I’m a little cheesy but I want you to always remember our first dance. Music can say so much, especially when you have a boyfriend like me who always seems to have his foot in his mouth.
She laughed to herself as she thought back to Maxi’s 18th birthday party at The Cellar. Dillon had looked so cute in black dress pants and a long sleeved baby blue shirt that buttoned down the front. She had such a hard time getting him to get up from that table in the corner.
“Dillon, come on. Please, dance with me?”
He smiled, hanging his head as she tried pulling him out of his chair.
“Grr!” she stomped her foot. “Dillon Quartemaine, get your butt out of that chair this instant!”
Dillon sighed as she pulled him out of the chair and halfway across the dance floor, stopping in a spot that wasn't too crowded.
He looked into her eyes and smiled. "I don't know how to dance..." He admitted shyly.
"Just follow my lead," she told him.
She took his hands and placed them around her waist, where they rested on the small of her back. Her arms wrapped around his neck, drawing their bodies closer together as they slowly started to sway to the music.
Just give me a chance.
And I know I'll make you understand why,
I just can’t help myself I'm falling in love with you.
Love, Love, with you.
No matter what you say, no matter what you do.
She sniffled and wiped away a tear with the back of her hand as she went to the next one and read on.
First time. Remember the first time we made love? We had waited and held out for so long and finally, the time was right and it was nothing short of amazing. I remember when you told me that you wanted to go on, and what I was doing was okay, I couldn't breathe for a few seconds. I will never forget that.
She’d come over to watch a movie, one of those old classics that she and Dillon were never able to get enough of. But they had to watch down in the Quartemaine living room. One by one it seemed, each one of the Quartemaines would walk in at the worst moment. Dillon had reached for her hand and started rubbing her knuckles when Alice walked in. Then he’d put his arm around her when Edward walked in. It slowly became obvious that everyone was interrupting them for a reason and so Dillon whispered, “Wanna take this upstairs?”
She smiled. “Exactly what I was thinking.”
Dillon went to the t.v. and took the DVD out, placing it in it’s case to bring up with them. Monica came in and told them they didn’t have to leave but Dillon assured her that it was okay, really.
Needless to say, they never finished their movie.
Dillon's body was hovering over Georgie's as they laid back onto his bed, both of their breathing was rapid as their lips parted.
"Are you.." His words trailed off as she nodded her head.
"I want to.." She had told him, pulling his body down on top of hers and crashing her lips onto his.
A few minutes later, after their clothing was discarded and they were both under the sheets, Dillon gently moved his body on top of hers, making sure their eyes never parted.
"Am I...Am I hurting you? Is this all right?" He asked concerned.
Georgie just smiled up at him, while nodding her head. "What you're doing is fine, I'm fine." She assured him, softly kissing his lips.
Now Dillon really had succeeded in making her cry. Taking a deep breath, with her hand placed on her belly, she walked to the next, and last card;
"I remember when you first told me that you thought you were pregnant. I remember how scared you were, and I remember trying my best to assure you that everything would be fine. But deep down, there was a part of me that couldn't help being a little....worried but excited at the same time. Worried about what it would do to us. But also excited because I don't know, I just had the feeling that after all the bad stuff was over, this baby would turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to us. I didn't want you to think that I was a freak or not taking this seriously so I didn't tell you just how I felt..."
She had gotten a ride from Maxi, not telling her anymore than she had to, just that she had to see Dillon right away.
Ned came out of Dillon’s office and since her head was pointed to the ground, she about ran into him.
“Oh, Ned. I’m sorry. Didn’t see you there.”
Ned raised an eyebrow, very similar to the way Dillon did when he thought something was off. She couldn’t imagine not seeing Dillon do that ever again, what if he blamed her for this? What if she had to raise this baby alone?
“Are you all right, Georgie?”
“I’m fine, can I see Dillon?”
“Sure, he’s in his office, we just got back from a meeting so he’s free for a bit.”
“Thank you”, she whispered as she took a deep breath and opened the huge Victorian door.
Dillon lifted his head from his seat at his desk. He smiled as he stood and went to her, hugging her against him. Georgie held him a little longer than she’d intended, for she was scared that this just might be her last time to hug Dillon this way.
“Georgie, what’s wrong?” he asked, leaning up against his desk and pulling her forward.
“Um”, she looked down to the floor.
“Look at me Georgie”, and she did, tears were in her eyes.
“What’s happened, Georgie?” he asked concerned.
“I think I might be pregnant…”
Dillon stood in the same spot he had been standing in for the last 10 minutes, secretly watching as Georgie read the cards and remembered his favorite memories. Finally, it was time to speak up. "I remember promising you that no matter what happened, I would always be there for you..." He said, his hands, which were behind his back holding the ring box, shook nervously.
Georgie quickly turned around, wiping the tears from her cheeks. She didn't say anything as she stood there taking everything about him in; the way he was dressed, in black dress pants and a white button up shirt, the way nervous look he had in his eyes.
She found herself sucking in a breath, afraid to even budge an inch.
“I remember how you were so scared that you’d lose me, and all the while, I was scared that you would blame me and I would be the one to lose you. But we got through it. And I know that a few months ago, we agreed not to do this until we were sure that we wouldn’t be doing it just because of the baby. But I can’t stop thinking about it, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Georgie. You’re the only girl who can make my heart beat faster and slower at the same time. When I'm not with you, I'm not living. I'm only existing when I'm near you and I'm holding you in my arms."
Georgie found it difficult to just stand there and not jump about 10 feet in the air, she wanted so badly to run into his arms, though he was only about 2 feet away.
She stepped forward and took his hand in hers, lifting it to her heart. "Dillon, do you feel that? You are the only boy who makes my heart beat faster and slower at the same time. Everything you said…I feel the same way.”
Dillon smiled, a slight flush rising to his cheeks. Georgie dropped their hands down by her side, her fingers still laced through his as she looked around the room.
“Wow, Dillon. This is, this is incredible. I can’t believe you did all of this.”
“Well, I did have help”, he admitted shyly.
She smiled, for she realized that was why Kyle had to get her out of the house and why everyone was acting so weird.
“I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy…"
So with his fingers still linked through hers, Dillon slowly kneeled down to the floor. Georgie’s heart leapt through her chest and her other hand covered her mouth as she watched with tears in her eyes as Dillon asked his question.
