Chapter 31
Gia and Nicholas entered Kelly’s hoping to catch up with Lucky. Coming down the stairs, his brother was the first to witness the handiwork Jason had done.
“What happened?”
“Jason punched his point across.”
“Well I bet he warned you first and you pushed it.”
“Gia he broke my nose!”
:”Hey, he could have done a lot worse. If I remember, right he nearly broke your ribs when you tried to kill him. I think he was definitely leant this time.”
Rolling is eyes and asking Nicholas for help. “Will to talk some sense into her?”
“Wait, wait one minute. Why did Jason break your nose?”
“I went into Elizabeth’s bedroom to see if she’s alright.”
Gia turned away in disgust, while Nick blinked in horror. “You did what? No wonder. Are you stalking her too! Come on Lucky, you know better. Stavros still after her-”
“Stavros is still after her?” Grabbing his jacket to leave, Nicholas swung him around in time.
“Don’t.” His eyes speaking volumes.
“I won’t leave her unprotected.”
“That’s what Jason is for. Not you.” Cutting into the conversation, wish all these men would just leave Elizabeth to their own little world. “Besides, if Jason can beat you up, your no match for Walking Frankenstein.” Gia snorted.
Nicholas silenced her with a look. Lucky on the other hand, pushed past him out the door madder than hell.
“Why did you do that? Lucky has enough problems. We don’t need him feeling worst about losing Liz.”
“Who cares. He needs to get over it and we should stay out of it anyway. Leave Elizabeth to Jason and forget it.” The last thing she wanted was Nicholas in the line of fire when Stavros made his move.
“I can’t forget it. Elizabeth’s my friend and it's my family that's trying to capture her for god knows what reasons.”
“Fine, we just have to be careful. I don’t want to lose you again.”
Walking back to the table to sit, cupping her hands in his. “You won’t lose me. I promise.”
The promise echoed, but she knew something totally different. Stavros would find her, and give her a life altering decision. If Nicholas knew, if he discover such a betrayal then she’d lose him anyway. Guilt filled her heart. What was she to do?
***********************************
Turning over in Jason’s arms, that stiffness screamed at her, waking her from the best sleep of her life, still surrounded by his scent, their bodies entangled. For the first time, Elizabeth actually felt free and loved all at once. Watching him sleep, remember with a grin, this is how it all started. His pale blue eyes laid shut, but a contented expression hinted at his lips. Every angle of his face, every tiny detail, put her in awe of him. His handsome male form radiated strength even now, giving her that security only he could give.
Audrey had gone off to work sometime ago, knocking to ask if she needed anything. Elizabeth told her no, praying to god she wouldn’t come in. The last thing she needed was Gram walking in with Jason in her bed. Now, they had the house all to themselves. That dull ache returned. Regretfully peeling herself way from Jason, she tried to rise.
His eyes opened wincing at the light, a hand wrapping around her once more. “Wait, where are you going?”
Wanting so much to just crawl back into his arms. “I’ve got to get up and take my medicine, silly.”
“Silly?” One eyebrow raised a bit amused as he pulled his himself from bed. “I’ll get it for you.”
Elizabeth didn’t mind one bit. That naked version of him walking around rose the temperature 1000 degrees.
Uh, Jason?” Her mouth dry.
Just as he turned back, their eyes meeting darkening in desire, his cell phone rang. Both of them frowned.
Finally grabbing it, “Morgan.”
“Jason, its Sonny. He’s on the move.”
“Where?”
“Benny mentioned Stavros visiting Windmere. I’m heading over their right now….Alexis is there.”
Sighing before answering. “ Don’t. I’ll go.”
“No, meet me there. I want to know what kind of man we're up against.”
“Ok.”
Folding it shut, Jason was actually at a loss. Taking in Elizabeth's naked temptation, begging him to stay, and make love again. Unfortunately he decided to stop Stavros before he did any real harm to Alexis.
“I have to go.” Handing her medication with some water.
“I know. That was Sonny wasn’t it.”
He nodded pulling on his jeans, then his shirt.
Elizabeth wrapped the sheets around her, the pout on her face begging Jason to kiss her. He did.
Regretting his decision his tongue slipped into her mouth, the tenderness burning next to overwheming emotions. “I love you Elizabeth.”
Her lashed lowered before facing him, her hand at his cheek. “Get back here soon.”
Kissing once more, Jason grabbed his jacket heading out door. “It’s safe right?”
She nodded, only to stop him a second later. “Jason!”
As if by magic, he appeared waiting.
She smiled with her heart in her eyes. “I love you.”
The priceless grin on his face made her soul want to dance.
Jason hopped down the stairs with a spring in his step and a light in his soul. He didn’t want to leave that was certain, but Sonny needed backup. Remembering the softness of her skin, the smell of her wafting around him even now. Pulling on his jacket reaching the door, Elizabeth glowed with a light he’d never seen until today. Her whole face illuminated with their love. Swallowing hard at that breathtaking memory, he headed out. Now all that was left for explaining was what he did to Lucky.

Chapter 32
After Kelly’s Gia walked the docks before work. Her thoughts jumbled from her first time with Nicholas to the potential last after today. A courier dropped off message only moments before, making her mission clear. Starting out into the water, shameful tears graced her face. Today she would take the selfish route. Ever since she met her prince she tried not to be that blackmailing wench, today all bet were off. Gia wanted to keep her man close and this was the only way.
********************************
After a refreshing shower, Elizabeth pulled on a soft blue T and jeans. Today of all days she floated on cloud nine. Deciding to bake up some brownies or even some fudge, she headed towards the kitchen. The doorbell rang stopping her in mid stride. A bit curious, she opened the door to find Johnny standing there.
“Johnny?”
“Sorry to disturb you Elizabeth, but Jason told me to watch you while Sonny…” Trailing off instead of explaining.
Letting him in, “It’s ok, I know, but if you’re here who’s with them?”
“Francis mame.”
Relieved a bit someone was backing Jason up. “Ok, I don’t feel like being guarded today so are you good at cooking?”
Johnny grinned a bit. “Actually I’m quite good. You tend to be around Mr. Corinthos.”
“Excellent. I’m going to make brownies, but if you can show me something more spectacular and I can actually bake it, you’ll be a hero.”
That sincere grin always letting her know, he was a friend, Johnny followed Liz into the kitchen.
********************************
Windmere loomed like some nightmarish castle in the movies. Even in the day, it had that vampire feel, but in this case, it was the Cassadines who were the bloodsuckers. Entering the house, Stravos, Alexis and Stephen could be heard down the hall.
“Mrs. Webber is not your prize or an object, Stavros. She’s an independent woman like myself. It’s truly insulting when men come back from the dead and pretend the woman’s right movement didn’t exist. I think you had better brush up on history. We can be a dominating force these days. Just ask Helena, though I haven’t seen her around lately. Why is that?”
Sonny chuckled before putting on his best face. Both men entering with strong purposeful steps.
“Hey is this a private conversation or can anyone join?”
“Mr. Corinthos, its pleasure seeing you again. We were just getting started actually. You know my brother Stavros.” Stephen’s finger indicated his grinning brother. Much tall than Stephen, in fact almost taller then Jason, the man smirked in mockery.
“Mr. Morgan we meet again. Did you decide to deliver my possession? No? I see that silent wall is up, you hide behind.”
“Anyone who knows Jason, which doesn’t include you, knows that he isn’t hiding, just like I’m not. You’re intruding on my territory and hasseling my lawyer.
“Not his lawyer any longer.” Adding a little tidbit out there in counter defense.
“Alexis and her brother are mere flies on the wall, ellusive and unimportant at the moment. You Mr. Corinthos are the bug beneath my shoe. Do you want to know why? The unholy light in his eyes warning both Sonny and Jason, he was up to something.
**************************************
An hour or so later, another knock at the door bothered both Johnny and Elizabeth as they mixed up a chocolate soufflé.
Stepping behind the door as Elizabeth opened it on his mark, she came face to face with Lucky. “Hi Elizabeth. Can I come in?”
The sight of his bandaged nose, unsettling though not enough to let him through. “Lucky, what happened?”
“Jason happened. Are you going to let me in?”
“No, I don’t think so. Besides if Jason hit you, there’s probably a reasonable explanation, like you pushing to far.”
Attitude sinking in, “So you’re not even going to listen to me?”
“Nope. Good-bye Lucky. I’m in the middle of something and it can’t be-“
Pushing past her only to be jerked up by Johnny. “Ms. Webber told you good-bye.”
“What you’ve got Jason’s goons watching you now?” Yanking himself away, he headed towards the door. “I guess you really are labeling yourself as his girl. I just hope he doesn’t get you killed.” The disgust in his voice the last thing she heard while Johnny literally kicked him out.
Turning around to face Elizabeth, he watched a slight frown mar her features. “Are you alright? If you don’t want him around.”
“No, I don’t, but that doesn’t matter.” Something else was bothering her. “Johnny, do you think Jason’s alright?
Closing the door and guiding her back to the kitchen. “Don’t worry Jason can handle himself. Now back to the art of rising….
***************************
“A bug beneath your shoe? Don't underestimate your opponents my friend. It could cost you your life." Sonny glowered giving off his own dangerous aura. Jason standing beside him made it looks as if they truly were a force to be reckoned with.
Impressed by their stanze though, nothing intimidated the man, Stavros grinned. “Do you know right now that your two ships coming in from the Caribbean are-shall we say- blown to bits?
“So I miss a few shipments. Your point?” Sonny hid it well, his anger. No one dared to touch his ships until now.
“Beside that he has excellent insurance.” Alexis slipped in getting a glare from nearly everyone especially Sonny. “What? You do.”
Stephen stepped forward. “This is all trivial. What we all want to know is how are you going to explain Ms. Webber as the air to the Romanov family?”
That unholy light shining brighter than a lighthouse beacon. “Ahh, you figured it out finally.” Pulling out a golden dog from his pocket parading it like some worshipping idol, “You see at this point I hold all the pieces and so the game is in check.”
Setting down the dog encrusted with rubies and diamonds in front of Jason and Sonny. Jason flashed back.
The woman headed towards a box in the corner. Opening it, uncovering another magnificent Egg. This one of red, gold and diamonds.
"You see this is a key. Lenin didn't know it then, but he failed." Pushing the ring inside the lock, the Faberge opened. Inside sat a tiny dog of the same colors, gold, red, and diamonds.
"This is what you seek."
Jason’s stone façade nearly disappeared seeing the object. It looked at him now as it did in the piazza of Venice.
He stood before the giant fountain. The engraving of a golden dog with red eyes stared him down, laughing at his current soaked position.
Dread instantly filled his entire being. This was a trap! Before he even took one step, Stavros’s laughter echoed. “So, you finally realized this is the end game? You should have listened to my threats before. Remember little Michael? He’s a lively boy, isn’t he and what was that nanny’s name again… Leticia?”
Jason took a step forward only to be held back by Sonny's own hand. If Michael's life was endangered, he was responsible.
Hackles raised, Alexis was the first to speak. “I should have know. You pick on children first. That explains Helena’s disappearance.”
“Your almost correct. You see right about now my prize is walking straight into my clutches and all of you are here with me ready to seal your own fate.”
*********************************
Pulling out a masterful perfection of fluff, Elizabeth praised Johnny for his teaching. “This soufflé is spectacular! I never thought I could do this.” Hugging him without reservation. “Thank you Johnny.”
“Next time perhaps some Cordon Blue.” He sugguested
“What’s that?”
“It’s chicken with Swiss cheese and ham.”
“Sounds delicious.”
The doorbell rang again. Trudging back towards the door, “What are we grand central station today?”
Johnny took his usual position, while Elizabeth opened it. Gia Campbell stood there very distressed; tears streaming down her face. “Elizabeth, Nicholas just called you have to bring the Faberge and everything with it!”
“Why what’s going on?”
“There’s no time to explain. Jason is already on his way from Windmere.”
Elizabeth glanced up at Johnny. “That's where he said he was going.” He confirmed.
“Ok.” Trusting Johnny she ran upstairs grabbing the backpack, holding her enitre future. On her way back down an uneasy feeling caught up with her.
“Gia, I think I should call Jason fir-“ stopping herself in midsentence.
Johnny was gone and Elizabeth stood toe to toe with Gia. “I’m sorry Elizabeth. I’m so sorry.”
The puzzlement solved as she witnessed Johnny's unconscious form lying behind the couch. Her eyes widened. Two men grabbed her from behind, restraining her completely. They were Helena’s men.
Just at that moment, the witch herself appeared laughing. “Oh, don’t worry Elizabeth, my men didn’t kill him. Beside that soufflé smells wonderful. I might need him to cook for me.” Glancing at his rock hard form. “Better yet, perhaps he’ll consider replacing Andreas.”
“You’re a sick woman Helena!”
“My, my, your manners haven’t improved I see. We will have to change that of course. Gia my dear come here.”
Gia stomped over to her none to thrilled. “I did your dirty work now let me go and leave Nicholas alone.”
“Isn’t etiquette even taught anymore? Go, but if you breathe a word the threat still stands.”
“Don’t worry.” Finally meeting Elizabeth’s eyes, a hidden message there somewhere. “Nicholas comes first.” Taking the backpack and handing it to the old hag.
With that, Helena motioned her goons to take Elizabeth and Johnny away. Making sure that no evidence of the struggle remained. After a final search they left to who knows where.
Gia was the only one left standing in Audrey’s livingroom. As soon as they left, she dialed Jason’s cell, watching for which direction pyscho granny headed.

Chapter 33
All parties in the room sensed the darkness lingering around them. Stavros pulled them into this world just to show what he was capable of. Capturing Elizabeth wasn’t enough; he kidnapped little Michael and Leticia, while trying to interfer in Sonny’s business and make life miserable for Alexis and Stephen.
Jason watched this whole scene play out with the overwhelming urge to just pull out his gun and shoot the man. What was worse is all his instincts told him to run to Elizabeth as fast as possible. Ever since Stavros placed the golden puppy on the table, the dread burrowed itself deeper into his calm.
“What about the Spencers? Did you forget them in you little trap or is this just for those of us who actually think?” Stephen threw out.
“Actually, you should be grateful. For once, you have center stage brother. Remember that designer friend of yours…. Chloe Morgan? “
Even Stephen’s face furrowed in rage. “If you harm one hair on her head”
“You’ll what? I AM IN CHARGE HERE!!!” The boom of his voice, menacing evil. “All of you who have defied me, taken away my possessions will simply pay with the death of your loved ones. Even as we speak they are in my control.”
Jason’s face fell. Elizabeth! He knew it! “Don’t think I won’t kill you right now.” Taking out his gun and directing right at Stavros’s icy heart.
His sinister laugh rolled over all of them. The disturbing power behind each vibrating cord of his voice sending cold shivers of fear. “Do you think I’m afraid of death! I am DEATH! “ Standing ever closer to the barrel, his grin.. “Shoot me Morgan. You want too. I can feel it.” His face twisted in some grotesque manner, “Did you know little Michael called out for you when I picked him up. That tiny face so trusting. He must think that his Uncle Jason is going to save him.”
Jason almost flinched. Trying to remain in control. Sonny’s eyes met with his, both knowing Stavros’s tactic to well. Aim from the heart, steady.
“Do you suppose Elizabeth thinks that now? Hmm.” Noticing the flicker of emotion in his eyes. “You’ve tasted her. I know, she’s hard to resist, reminding me of Laura when she was my bride. Did she tell you I visited her nightly? Ah, yes watching her sleep became a great comfort to me. Then there was the night she actually had the courage to bar my way.” His chuckle of pleasure did amuse anyone. “How her silken skin ached to be touched. Elizabeth held so perfectly still for me. Letting me explore every inch of her.”
“I know what happened.”
The calmness of Jason’s voice surprising him. Did this man love her or not? Did he have that much control of what he felt? From the guarded expression Sonny flashed, Stavros knew there was a nerve to be touched.
“You’re a sick bastard! You’re standing there telling us you may have raped Elizabeth!” Alexis’s voice condemned him. Sonny and Stephen tried to silence her.
Pushing away from both of them, she faced him like a bear in defense of her baby cubs. “I hope Jason shoots you now, because if he doesn’t I will!”
“No, Alexis you won’t.”
All eyes turned to the voice beyond. Nicholas stood in the doorway. “If anyone kills my father it will be me.” For the first time everyone saw the man Nicholas was.
Father faced son and the emotional turmoil in the prince’s face might actually make him regret.
“How could you? Elizabeth did nothing to you! She’s already been through enough torture in her life and you added your own. I will never be your son, because unlike you I have a heart, a heart that feels! I won’t use it to manipulate and hurt them.” His words shine in his face like a knife cutting through Stavros’s ice soul. His son would never respect him, care for him, or even love him.
Taking that instant of distraction Jason knocked Stavros over the head with the butt of pistol.
He considered killing him as Nicholas touched his shoulder. “If I had known…”
The prince conveyed his shame and sorrow in his eyes. He heard every word.
Nodding his understanding, then turning to Sonny. “What now?”
Alexis jumped in. “I know. Let’s drown him.” Again, all eyes on Alexis. “What? Isn’t that what you mob people do? I’m agreeing with you for once and you burn me at the stake. Fine.”
Sonny couldn’t help from showing off a dimple just for her. “Careful now. I’m rubbing off on you.”
She shrugged as Jason’s cell rang.
“Morgan.”
“Jason! It’s about time! Helena has Elizabeth.”
“I know. Are you alright?” His hands covered his face. Hearing it made it all the more real, all the more fearful.
“I know where they’re going?”
Hope. Perhaps he could kill Stavros after all. “Where?”
“Look, I planted one of those tracking things on Elizabeth’s bag. Did you know that one those cost more than my Chloe Morgan original? I bet-“
“Where are they headed Gia!”
“That’s just it. I can’t read this damn thing!”
Pinching his nose in frustration. “Where are you?”
“Audrey’s. And Jason if it helps, Johnny’s with her.”
Clicking his cell closed. “Johnny is with Elizabeth, but Helena has them both.”
Is Gia alright?” Nicholas asked
Jason really didn’t give a damn about Gia, but at least the girl had brains. “She planted a tracker on Elizabeth’s bag.
“Then you and I can go get them.”
“No, Nicholas that’s not a good idea.” Stephen stepped into his path
“I have to say I agree. Besides Jason knows what he’s doing.” Alexis turned on Jason. “That is you do know what you’re doing?”
Jason shrugged. All he could think of was Elizabeth and they were having a debate?
“I’m going as well.” Everyone stared at Stephen as though he lost his marbles. “I know how to deal with Helena. Neither of one of you do. I could detract her while you get Ms. Webber, Michael, and Chloe out.”
Sonny tilted his head towards his best friend in consideration. “He is right. We don’t know Helena like he does.”
“Uncle you can’t go.”
Stavros started to moan holding his head. Alexis picked up the neared object and almost hit him on the head again. Hesitating to look towards Sonny, “I’d do this myself, but I’m afraid I might kill him. Wait! There are no drawbacks here.”
“Whoa, whoa wait. Hold on there.” Taking the silver candlestick from her, Sonny positioned himself to show her precisely where to hit. “You see, if you hit any higher or harder for that matter, your going to jail. However, if you hit him right here. “ With one efficient rap on the head, Stavros fell back down. “He’s out for the count.”
“Why couldn’t we just kill him.” Alexis pleaded.
Sonny’s dimples showed up once more. “Then I would have to find a better lawyer to defend you and I don’t think there is.”
“Good point. Nice touch with the better lawyer part. You’ll do well to remember that the next time you’re thinking of causing mayhem.”
Jason rolled his eyes at the bunch. “I’m heading over to Audrey’s to get Gia. If you’re coming let’s go.”
“I think I’ll stay here and take care of Stavros. I need to teach him a few things about involving himself in MY affairs. I’ll call Luke and have him meet you there.”
Jason nodded and Stephen followed without being asked.
“I’m coming Uncle at least to get Gia.”
“Fine, but from there I want you to stand back. Understand? This isn’t a game.”
Nicholas nodded, before they both rushed off to catch Jason.

Chapter 34
Jason stormed though the door, shocking Gia from her constant pacing. “Its about time Romeo!”
Forceful, leaving no room for discussion, “Where’s the tracking device?”
Holding it out, just as he nearly ripped from her hands. “A thank-you would be nice.”
It wasn’t like Elizabeth’s paintings she’d explain to him. It was a green blur. Never in his life did he feel so powerless. “Look, I don’t have time for this Gia.”
Nicholas ran in with Stephen. “Tell me your not provoking him right now.” His plea made directly to his girl.
Stephen watched Jason pinch his nose in frustration. “Is something wrong?”
Standing tall, not one bit ashamed of his problem. Jason couldn’t comprehend a digital map. “Because of my accident I can’t read this device.”
Stephen held out his hand without condemning. “Fine, I will point out the route then. Agreed?”
Narrowing his eyes at Nicholas’s uncle, he held a small amount of respect. “Agreed.”
Watching two unlikely people forming a bond weirded Nicholas out as he glanced at Gia “You guys go on. I’ll tell Luke-“
“I’m right here Prince Valiant.” Luke walked in as if he owned the place. “Well I got your page Morgan. Now what?”
“Helena has Elizabeth and a few other captives.”
Knowing the need for action, “What are we waiting for? Vlad, here to led the way?”
For the first time, Stephen smiled. “Yes Luke. In fact I am.”
Luke rolled his eyes muttering about Cassadine swine on their way out.
************************************************
Elizabeth couldn’t help the fear that she might possibly be alone. Helena’s men carried Johnny’s unconscious form down the step while she waited tied up near by.
“Get the girl. She might be able to help that Nanny down there with the boy.” One of the guards spoke.
The ropes around her wrists disappear just as the other guard yanked her down the basement steps. Tripping at least once. Shoving her forward at the bottom, he left her there, closing the door shut.
Johnny laid at her feet, after a quick examination of his head decided to lay him flat and hope for the best. There was no blood, but a blow to the head could cause serious problems.
“Miss Webber?”
Staring into the dark Elizabeth searched for that delicate voice. Emerging from the dark, Leticia held Michael like her own son, cradling him from the dangers Helena threatened.
Eyes wide, she couldn’t believe this happened. “How did you get here?
“We were in Martinique when Helena’s men grabbed us yesterday. This other man, the dark one said that we would be the bait to lure Mr. Morgan here.”
“Are you ok? Is Michael alright?” Staring to the eyes of little boy Elizabeth knew Jason loved so much. His little fingers clutched Leticia like a lifeline. It’s like Jason said. A child knows what’s going on around them. Leaning forward to sooth him, “It’s alright Michael. Uncle Sonny and Uncle Jason will be here very soon. Until then we can pretend this is a cavern in the pyramids of Egypt.”
Michael perked up at the mention of Egypt. Leticia smiled. “You know Mr. Morgan used to read to him about places all over the world. I think little Michael still remembers.
Elizabeth smiled in reassurance. “Jason will come for us Leticia. I know it.”
Leticia nodded. “Do you think Johnny will be alright?”
Elizabeth’s eyes wondered over to him. “I really don’t know, but if we keep him warm and watch him closely then perhaps he’ll wake up. Then maybe we can get out of this on our own. Not that I won’t try myself.”
The nanny noticed the strength in Ms. Webber. “I will help you any way I can.”
“Well, right now let’s just take care of Michael while we check out basement.”
Both women agreed, hoping and prying for the best.

Chapter 35
“This isn’t a game. At least that’s what Jason keeps telling me. Now look at us, we’re trapped in a basement that has nothing to do with the coffeehouse or Sorel. It’s just something entirely to bizarre.” Elizabeth ranted as she paced the basement.
There were no openings or exists except the air conditioning ducts, but they lead up, not down. Taking another look at the near empty cellar. They had only a few things to work with. Sheets from the bed, a pair of gardening sheer, (found beneath the stairs.), and chairs to stack.
Looking at the whole Elizabeth sighed, “Well, I’m ready when you’re ready.”
Leticia blinked. “I don’t know, what if you get stuck?”
Elizabeth glanced at her petite form. “Do I really look that big?”
The nanny smiled. “No, I was just more worried if the tunnel aimed any smaller.”
While the ladies debated, Michael climbing onto Johnny’s chest and played with his face.
Both women heard a moan from the corner.
“Do think that was Johnny?” Leticia asked, just as Elizabeth boosted herself onto the pillar of chairs.
“We’d better check." Hopping back down.
OWWW!
Their eyes met suddenly in agreement. “Michael!”
Running over to the bodyguard's side, they found him cupping his eye with one hand.
Leticia reached for him. “Michael. What did I tell you about poking at people’s eyes.”
Elizabeth watched the display in open humor. Johnny wincing while trying to say it’s ok. Leticia apologizing, and explaining to Little Michael what he did wrong. Michael just laughed at the whole bunch, amused.
Leaning down next to him, Elizabeth checking Johnny's head, “How do you feel?”
Wincing a little, “Like a tow truck in overhaul. I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you from Helena’s men.”
“It’s ok. I don’t think anyone expects you to be superman.” Elizabeth fell back satisfied with goose egg that emerged
Leticia sat on the stairs with Michael in her lap giving just a bit of resistance. Her eyes met with Johnny’s in concern. "What happened?"
“Gia happened. She distracted me while some goons hit me on the back of the head."
Rolling her eyes to high heaven, “Now why am I not surprised.” Elizabeth moved back towards the chairs, “So do you think you could get up and keep these chairs steady? I'd like to get Michael home as soon as possible."
Finally noticing the pillar of chairs and the sheets strung together at the floor, he shook his head. “Elizabeth. This isn’t a good idea.”
Taking the innocence a bit too far, “What? It’s a way out.”
Shaking his head again. “I should be the one going up there?”
“If you can fit into a size 6 or smaller, we’ll discuss it because as it looks right now only Leticia and I could fit.”
He grumbled a bit. “Jason isn’t going to like this.”
Just catching it, Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. “Uh Johnny? In case you didn’t notice, Jason isn’t around…. Not to say he won’t come after us, but I’d like to rely on my own devices for now. Ok?”
He agreed with some regret, carefully raising himself to his feet.
Between the threesome, Elizabeth boosted herself to the ceiling air duct with some difficulty. Once up inside the duct, she pondered her own decision. It was definately high off the ground. Taking a deep breath she scrunched her back against the vent and her feet against the others side in a cradled form.
“You’ll catch me if I fall?” She strained a bit, moving slowly up ward, rope in hand.
“If you fall and I don’t caught you, you’re looking at one bodyguard asking for a funeral.”
Elizabeth laughed. “Your probably right, but if it helps any tell Jason I gave you that lump on your head.”
Shaking his head again in a huff, “Yea, as if he’d believe that.”
Leticia held Michael a bit closer as Elizabeth disappeared out of sight. The small child turned to them rubbing his eyes. “I want Uncle Sonny and Uncle Jason.”
Johnny stepped up to the boy; “They’re coming to get us Michael we just have wait.”
What Michael didn’t see is the concern in Leticia’s eyes when they met. “Do you think she’ll be ok?”
“What I think doesn’t matter. I know Jason will find us, but will that be before or after Elizabeth finds trouble.” Then he hugged her and Michael close for one moment of comfort. Johnny prayed he was wrong.
