Chapter 21
For once in his life, Jason Morgan wished he were Jason Quartermaine again. He’d done all he could instinctively remembering to apply pressure, ice pack, keeping her body warm and checking her pulse. As he watched Elizabeth slowly, bleed to death, his gut wretched, his heart pounded, and the fear of loosing her, rounding itself around him like a noose. He’d seen men and women fall from gunfire before. His concern always stayed to the danger first. This particular time, everything seemed out of control. Jason killed the bastard, but almost knocked the chopper down with the blast. Too impatient. He wanted to crush the shooter’s neck slowly between his fingers for what he’d done to Elizabeth.
“Jason?’ Her whisper weakens her, but she still wanted him.
Leaning up next to her, holding her hand as the chopper did a quick descent to a near by Milan. Ice, her fingers felt like tiny iciles ready to break. “Listen to me. Stay awake. I’m not letting go Elizabeth. Not after everything we’ve been through.”
Elizabeth eyes drifted up slowly. She mouths a word. “Sleep.”
Gia frowned in actual concern, glancing over at Jason, pushing him slightly to the side. “Elizabeth, are you truly going to just roll over die like that? Because the minute your gone, I’m gonna turn that studio of yours into my private pictures of Gia exhibit. Then I’ll blackmail your Grams, and shred up Nicholas’s heart in a million pieces and feed it to Jason on our wedding day. So your can’t dye or I’ll have to ruin everyone’s life.”
Nicholas almost smiled at her last assault, knowing it would drive Elizabeth crazy, but keep her awake.
Jason didn’t even look at Gia. Instead, he watched Elizabeth’s eyes flash. Enough to know there was hope. So close to her ear. “I love you Elizabeth.” He kissed her lips then buried his head into her hair as he cradled her tenderly.
The helicopter landed atop the Milanese Red Cross building. Help was here.
**********************
For hours, most of the night in fact, Gia and Nicholas tried to convince Jason to eat or rest. He simply ignored them, pacing the halls with the memory of Elizabeth being shot over and over. The blood still soaked his shirt and jacket. Though nurses offered to wash them, bringing him new clothes. No one got threw to him. Nicholas called Sonny, but there was no answer.
“What are we going to do? He can’t go on like this scaring ever person who walks by. They think he’s the murderer as it is.” Gia tossed her hand out indicating Jason.
Nicholas scanned the city from the window. Ancient buildings laid a permanent part of this Milan’s charm, but the business side ruled it. Like a wave of futurists, with their cell phones and briefcases, against the Era of Enlightenment, the Renaissance.
“Chloe Morgan’s office is here. Do you think her people might help us?’
Cocking his head, considering the option, “They know me. Alright, but if Chloe gets involved then you know my Uncle will undoubted help as well.”
“Isn’t that a bad thing. I mean isn’t he just as much a Cassadine?”
“Yes, but the better one next after Alexis. He tried to talk Stavros into letting us go. I believe he’s the only one who will stand up to my father.”
“Ok, Chloe Morgan design then.” Gia left a note with the nurse, while Nicholas asked her to watch over Jason.
The nursed nodded glancing at the man still pacing in the corridor, her expression sad and wistful. “Amore….”
Gia held Nicholas closer as he nodded solemnly. “Yes, he loves her.”
********************************
Sometime later, the doctor emerged from the critical unit. Jason nearly pounced on the guy. “How is she?”
The Italian pushed up his glasses in retrospect, placing his hands behind his back. “Your very lucky Mr. Morgan. Ms. Webber is alive and breathing. Thank for donating your blood, being our banks are seriously low. Her status is still critical for the next 24hrs, but after that she should recover nicely.”
“Where did the bullet lodge itself?”
The doctor eyed the man before him, taking in his appearance and assessing his intellect. “This is a serious wound. Not only did it hit a major artery, but her lungs are at risk to exposure. The bullet was mere inches from them. It is still possible for her right lung to collapse from the pressure of swelling. So you see Mr. Morgan, her condition is dire.”
Raking his fingers over his face. Knowing everything, he said made perfect sense yet still his head spiraled grief of what he should have prevented. “Can I see her?”
The Italian glanced over towards the nurse beyond. She smiled sadly, giving the doctor a nod. She must have been watching him, to see if he was a danger to their patient. “Fine. Clean up and change clothes. I won’t risk her getting an infection.” With that the doctor headed over towards the nurse questioning her evaluation of this man.
*****************************
Walking the streets of Milan reminded Gia and Nicholas of Mattahan in New York City. The only difference being everyone here were European and extremely wealthy. Watching famous models and business moguls’ walk by talking business and fashion show deadlines. The biggest difference being the cathedral windows coloring the streets and turrets and parapets shading them.
“I always wanted to come here. This is like the center of the entire fashion world, besides Paris.” Walking into the office building, watching the designers fly by.
Nicholas approached the receptionist. “Hello, I’m Nicholas Cassadine. I need to speak to Chloe Morgan’s assistant in charge here.”
“I’m sorry sir without an appointment…”
“Melanie this man is welcome anytime. Nicholas! How wonderful to see you.” Hugging him fully. “I was just going for lunch would you like to join me?”
Her appearence always romantically light. Today she wore a sea blue dress backless falling just below the knee and as always carrying her notebook. Nikolas and Gia on the other hand didn't exactly look the part in this town with Gia's jeans and red T and Nicholas's dockers and grey V neck shirt.
Gia stepped up to the plate. “Actually we need your help Ms. Morgan. Our friend is in trouble and we need to contact his friend.”
Concern crossed her face as she searched Nicholas’s face. “This isn’t about your Uncle is it, because I thought he was improving.
“No, my Uncle is actually the one I want you to contact. I need his help and you’re the only one I know who can reach him not matter what.” The meaning remained clear in his eyes. Stephan still loved Chloe and would never pass up a call she made.
“Why don’t you just call him then?”
“No, one is supposed to know we are here. Psycho granny’s men are everywhere along with is Demon son, Stavros.” Stepping in for her man.
Chloe’s eyes grew wide. “You’re saying that they are after you?”
“Yes, and if you call Stephan then he’ll come anyway unknowingly helping us.” The urgency in his voice cried for action.
“Ok, I help, but on one condition. You have to stay with me. I have a villa not far from here and I know my security can protect you at least for a time. Is there anyone else with you? You mentioned a friend.”
“Jason Morgan and Elizabeth Webber, though she’s at the Red Cross recovering from a bullet wound.”
“Elizabeth? You’ve found her?” Chloe’s relief mixed with knowledge her favorite assisted lived. “I have been so worried about her. What happened? Wait, never mind. We can talk about that later. Let’s call your Uncle.”

Chapter 22
Opening the door, Jason stepped into a darkened room full of machines beeping and measuring vital signs of the woman lying before him. Afraid to see her, afraid to face the reality of what he never contemplated before. He “took care” of people all the time. Tracking them down and making them pay for crimes the mob never allowed. Now he wonders. If roles were reversed, he would be the shooter killing his target. Realizing it just then, he never killed an innocent. Jason always killed the betrayer or the man killing and doing far worse then he ever did. Watching Elizabeth’s heart beat wave up and down in green comforted him somehow, letting him trudge forward.
Elizabeth looked like an angel. More beautiful than the one on his first real Christmas tree, the one the decorated together. Her hair spread like a cloud of autumn against the pillow, long like when he first met her. Her skin still held that porcelain appeal though much more pale at this moment. Standing over her, his breath caught. How did he ever let her go? Why didn’t he fight harder when she told him she wanted Lucky? He never told her anything about how he felt until she asked and even then he didn’t tell her everything. Time to remedy that.
Taking a seat beside her, drawing her hand in his. The creamy softness of her skin still aroused yearning. Kissing the inside of her wrist, holding her fingers to his heart, Jason’s face projected a whirlwind of love and grief.
“I know you can hear me. I could when you saved me. You drew me back from the dead and I’ve never forgotten the way you cradled me against you. The smell of snow and rushing winds, comforting me and begging me to stay alive. You became my friend Elizabeth, separate from the mob and separate from my family. I admit I watched over you, not only because of Lucky dying in my bike shop, but because something you did sparked inside me. It created this need to be with you and make you smile. That night I danced with you, I wanted it. I wanted to hold you, to take away all your pain and draw you into me. I never understood it at the time, but I needed you as much as you needed me. You talked about riding into the wind and how incredible it could be. I realized the reason I kept offering is not only to ride, but to just have you near me. There is a lot I haven’t said Elizabeth, always putting myself in check, waiting for you to come around to the same conclusion I did the first night I left. I wanted you to love me, but when Lucky lived, I stepped back instead of stepping forward. I should have and I didn’t."
" The second time I did understand just how much you meant to me. I knew that we still connected, so perhaps I did deliberately burden you on purpose with my plans with Sonny. I wanted to stay with you in the same place we slept side by side at night, hearing each other breath. The same place that became my refuge with you. I hoped by staying, you would remember just what we meant to one another. I should have just come out with it. Now I understand why Carly comes up with the schemes and why they don’t work. If I had just fought for you instead of letting Lucky guilt you into staying…. I just should have told you how I feel. The problem was that love isn’t enough. I love you Elizabeth but it’s so much more than that. As I said in the beginning, there are no words for what I feel for you. Perhaps if I told you that, then you wouldn’t have thought I was just 'more than a friend'. Maybe you were waiting for me to take the first step. “
Taking a deep breath, leaning back against the chair for one moment, reflecting back on his own thoughts, a single tear escaped his notice before he leaned forward next to her ear. “That last night when I offered you the world, do you think if I told you then that I loved you, instead of making you think I just meant to save you from Lucky you would have taken my hand?"
" I see you Elizabeth, in my dreams, in broad daylight, and even in a wisp of the wind. I never imagined things before. I never saw anything not real. You’ve helped me grow, with out telling me to do anything. Do you know what it means for me to dream Elizabeth? I see you sometimes singing to yourself when you paint, or even talking to your friends completely content that your world is as happy as mine. Truth is, without you in my life that dream it’s impossible."
Jason smiled to himself. “You always offered to listen to me and now that I get the chance it’s more words than I’ve said in a lifetime. I know there’s a reason for that and it is you, lying here. If I loose you Elizabeth, if you slip away from my life like this than everything we did to get her dies. I won’t live without you. I almost died once, knowing I only lived for you. Don’t leave me Elizabeth. Show me that spirited woman I love so much and fight. Besides I don’t think anyone in heaven has a motorcycle they will let you drive. I’m here and so is the wind. We can ride it together letting it guide us for the rest of our lives. It’s enough Elizabeth…As long as you’re with me.”
With that, Jason kissed her forehead. A whisper of a kiss, that any angel could appreciate. Sitting there in the dark, holding her hand, he protected her. Watching over throughout the night, every second waiting for her to wake, for love is a funny thing giving you strength to succeed and survive. The darkness may cover them now, but in the morning when the sun rose Elizabeth fluttered her eyes open, the first sight of Jason smiling at her with all the love in the world waiting just for her. Watching her face illuminate with happiest of smiles, he knew she listened. He knew that when his icy blue eyes touched her autumn brown, a rustle of wind earthly charged infused their souls. Never again would they be parted from the eternal love nature meant for them to share…Forever

Chapter 23
Gia and Nicholas returned with Chloe to the hospital. What they witnessed seemed nothing short of a miracle. Jason stood at Elizabeth’s side. The laughter from the two echoed through the halls cheering any down trodden soul.
“Elizabeth?” Chloe knocked on the door, interrupting the pair.
Both peered over towards their visitor. “Chloe! What are you doing here.” The surprise and pleasure of seeing not only her boss, but her friend. Jason dragged his lips across hers. Elizabeth’s eyes darkened in response.
“I’m going to get us a bit to eat while you and Chloe talk.”
Those same eyes followed him the entire way out. “Don’t be long Jason.”
He turned in her direction. Silent, but every word hung in the air between them. I’m always with you because I love you. He left leaving Ms. Morgan the distinct impression Elizabeth found her freedom that included love.
“So you and Jason are pretty close. I heard he saved you from the Cassadines. Talk about a sexy package in hero mode. I bet he lite up the stars.”
Elizabeth turned ten shades of red. She thought the same thing. “Something like that.”
“So are you ok? Gia and Nicholas were pretty worried about you.”
“I’m fine. A little sore, but I’ll live. Sometimes it hurts to laugh, so I’m glad you came in when you did.”
“Don’t want to talk to Jason?”
“Oh no. I want to talk to him. I still need to tell him what happened while I was on that island, but for now it can wait.”
“What did happen Elizabeth?”
A shadow passed over her face. “Let’s just say Stavros is pure evil and leave it at that.”
The haunted look in her eyes, quelled Chloe’s questions for now. “So, I brought you something while you’re here though that won’t be long.” She pulled out a pad and some pencils. “I usually sketch on anything I can get my hands on, but I didn’t think that would work for you.”
Elizabeth bubbled with joy over her gift “I may not be able to use this for awhile, but I love it Chloe! Now all I have to do is go outside and find a subject.”
Chloe knew that special twinkle. She had it herself every time inspiration struck. “Now as I said. You won’t be here for long. I’m having you moved to my villa until Stephan arrives.”
“Stephan?”
“Nicholas asked me to contact Stephan. He’s a good man Elizabeth when he tries. I think the last thing that he wants if for you both to go back to that horrid island. So, don’t worry. I’m hoping his stay is quick so that we can return to Port Charles and deal with this Cassadine mess.”
“He did try to help us. He stood up to Stavros, but their wills are about equal. Trust me. I wouldn’t want to stand between their final face off.”
Chloe warmed to her words. Her eyes lighting up at a private thought. “Stephen is full of surprises.”
******************************
Gia and Nicholas met Jason outside the room. “So did Chloe tell you?”
“Tell me what?” Jason frowned at the girl.
“Chloe called my Uncle and hopefully when he arrives he’ll take us back home. I’m assuming it’s to dangerous to move Elizabeth all the way to Germany now.”
Jason pinched his nose sighing. “Don’t you think you should have told me before doing this?”
Gia stepped in. “We tried. Remember that you ignored us, too caught up with Elizabeth. It’s all good though. Chloe hasn’t mentioned it’s us that she called him here for so we just have to explain when he gets here.”
“Besides that aren’t any signs of Helena’s men yet.”
Raking his hands through his hair, “Just as long as you trust your Uncle. I’m calling Sonny so if things go wrong we have a way out.”
“Agreed. Though I know my Uncle, he won’t betray me.”
Jason nodded before heading down the hall for food. Rounded the corner he dialed Sonny.
“It’s me…. No, Elizabeth was shot. I’ve taken care of it. Stavros is there?…. I’ll be there as soon as I can. Tell Laura, Nicholas’s Uncle is coming to get him. No, Elizabeth stays with me.” With that, he said goodbye. So the Cassadines arrived in Port Charles to meet them. Fine, that was his turf and Jason knew exactly what to do.
************************ PORT CHARLES
Stavros paced Helena’s Yacht. His demeanor unsettling even Andreas. “Sir can I get you anything?” As soon as his eyes met the master’s he knew is mistake.
Stavros’s face twisted into unmercilous hatred. “If you interrupt my thoughts again I will kill you little man.” With that he picked Andreas up and threw him out the door without blinking an eye.
The screaming thud of her man summoned the appearance of Helena instantly. “Stavros! Andreas has been a most loyal servant. I didn’t bring you here to use him in your amusement.”
“That’s right mother. You use him for yours.” The vindictive tone put the old woman in unease.
“I’m still your mother and this is certainly uncalled for.”
As if dismissing the topic entirely, Stavros straightened himself formally, cupping his hands behind his back. “What news do we have of my son and Elizabeth?”
“Fortunately there is news. Apparently, they are staying with Ms. Chloe Morgan in Milan until your worthless brother arrives to save them.”
“So the sniper failed?”
“No my darling. The incompetent fool shot the Webber girl instead of Mr. Morgan.”
“What!’ Unleashing his anger on a 16th century oakwood chair, smashing it to smithereens. “Morgan lives and my prize lays broken?” His quick stride guided him directly in front of Helena. If you fail me, mother one last time… Wait.” Inspiration struck. “Perhaps this will work in our favor. Let them come here and reunite. They will cry with joy that Elizabeth has returned, but Jason… Let’s just say the mob will discover what real power’s about.” A murderous laugh erupted from Stavros, chilling even Helena heart. Her smile echoed her pride. She knew her son would succeed and Morgan would be no more.

Chapter 24
“Nicholas?” Stephan stepped into Chloe’s villa hoping she had changed her mind about being with him, but instead he found the only thing that could possibly make him happier.
Grinning at his Uncle like nothing in the world could be amiss. “Uncle, how have you been?”
Embracing him in a fierce hug, tears nearly falling from his eyes. “I missed you my boy. I missed you so much.”
Chloe and Gia witness the little reunion with heartfelt pleasure. These two truly meant the world to one another and at this moment, perhaps they did too.
Pulling away just to pat his shoulders, “So Morgan did succeed in rescuing you.”
“How did you know it was Jason?” Nicholas frowned.
“Believe it or not, Alexis and Mr. Corinthos trapped Spencer and I into working together. He’s researching a lead on why Helena wanted Ms. Webber there.”
“But we already know why. For some twisted reason Psycho Granny wanted Miss Muffet and my man together.” Gia couldn’t help, but put in her two cents.
Stephan shook his head with something akin to dread. “It’s much more than that.”
“How much more?” Jason descended the staircase listening to the conversation from above. He didn’t like any of it.
Finally facing the man whom accomplished the daring rescue, but suddenly realizing Elizabeth was indeed missing. “Where is Ms. Webber?”
“Upstairs resting.” Both men stared at the other. A battle of wills.
“Elizabeth was shot during there escape.” Chloe watched the little duel of ego stepping between it. “I think we all need some answers here and obviously everyone has a piece I’m sure.”
Stephen yielded only for her. He nodded and smiled into her beautiful face. “I need to speak to her when she awakens. Until then I can’t give any answers.”
Jason came down the last few steps, folding his arms at his chest and narrowing his gaze. “We can go up shortly.”
Nicholas couldn’t help volunteering a piece of info. “Uncle we brought back the Faberge Stavros showed you. Will that help?”
Stephen’s eyes lit up like a Christmas Tree. “Immensely. That egg is an answer.”
Pulling it out from safe Chloe hid it in; she handed it over to him. Their fingers brushed and both eyes filled with yearning for the other. Blinking to brake the spell, she stepped away. Disappointment furrowed his brow. Placing it on a nearby table, Stephen found the mechanism to open it, but it needed a key. “Did you discover a way to open it?”
Jason stepped forward. Pulling the ring from his pocket placing it in its slot, Nicholas’s Uncle stopped him.
“That’s the key? Do you know what this is?”
Jason didn’t like how he eyed the ring. Why did everyone want it? Too bad it was for Elizabeth. “It’s a ring.” Sarcastic almost.
“It’s a Russian betrothal ring. It’s also a missing artifact, made especially for the Empress Catherine the Great from her own people.”
"You just said it was a betrothal ring. How can that be if her people gave it to her?” Gia has just as much interest in that ring and wanted all the answers.
“It’s represents Catherine the Great’s dedication to the people of Russian for she was said ‘Betrothed” to them first and foremost.”
Jason wasn’t about to let anyone touch it, but he did allow for Stephen to read the inscription.
“I was apparently correct. From Russia our eternal love and trust.”
Jason held out his hand. Slowly the Cassadine returned the piece. “So, where did you find the ring?”
“Istanbul.” The metal clicked into the Faberge letting him open the center.
“Intriguing. It makes perfect sense considering most of the wealth of Russian is showing up in a town the Black Market prefers to do most of it's dealings.”
Jason knew where he was going with this and instead of taking the bait he simple let his icy wall grow, ignoring him totally.
Pulling out the golden eagles ensigna, Stephen frowned. “I think I’ll talk to Ms. Webber now.”
Already heading upstairs, Jason grabbed his ring and motioning Nicholas to take care of the egg, as he bounded up the stairs as well.
Knocking at her door. “Ms. Webber? It’s Stephen Cassadine. I would like to speak to you immediately. It’s vitally important.”
There wasn’t an answer, but Jason came up behind him, moving him aside to step through. Motioning him in, Morgan grabbed the chair sitting closest to her bedside. Gently touching her brow before kissing it. " Elizabeth?”
She stirred; the fall of her hair around her face stirred his insides. He placed the silky locks behind her ear. Two large brown eyes smiled up at him a bit blurry. “Jason?” Stretching a bit only to recoil in pain.
“Careful. Do want some water?”
Was she this attentive when he was shot? Elizabeth nodded thinking what it would be like to just pull him down on top of her and…. Her eyes flashed just over his shoulder to Stephen at the door. “Mr. Cassadine.”
A bit awed by the blatant display of love. “I gather Mr. Corinthos is correct.”
“What do you mean by that?” Jason brought the glass to her lips slowly drinking.
“He told Alexis, Spencer, and I that you apparently loved this man and there wasn’t even a chance for Helena to divert your attentions to Nicholas.”
Jason shook his head. Since when did Sonny start telling the world what he himself just confirmed? Time to talk to his best friend.
Elizabeth turned a few shades red and her eyes fluttered towards the man nearly cursing before her. “How could I not.” Then glancing back up at Stephan. “Besides we’ve been through this before Nicholas is just a friend and always will be.”
“Very well. I came to ask you a few questions Ms. Webber regarding you parents. It's important you answer to the best of your knowledge.“ Perhaps their friendship would allow the pardon of his family, leaving the wealth of the Cassadines to themselves.
Jason squeezed her hand in reassurance. “Ask away.”
“Where you were a child did your parents say or do anything to indicate you weren’t their child?”
Elizabeth almost said no even opening her mouth when something flashed into her head. It was along time ago when her mother caught her smoking for the first time.
“What is wrong that you can’t be like the rest of us. Why can’t you just like the same things? I guess genes have a lot to do with it.”
“What are talking about genes?
“Nothing, I-I was just referring to your uncle.”
“We don’t have an Uncle…”
Her mother had the face when she’d caught her in a lie. No, they didn’t have an Uncle and her mother tried to play it off as if she was rambling because work exhausted her. Suddenly another instants flashed her even further back.
“Daddy, why can’t I go to Grandma Hardy’s?”
She’s just not ready for you yet. Little one. Give her time.”
“I’ll be good I promise, please call her and change her mind.”
“No. She’s not ready for you and that’s final.”
Elizabeth snapped into reality. Jason didn’t like the sadness creeping into her face. “No, of course not.” She lied and he knew it.
Frowning Stephen watched the change in her as well. “Ms. Webber I realize this must be entirely to painful for you to face, but there is evidence that you might have been adopted much like Laura was when she was young. Can you truly discount it?”
Elizabeth’s eyes wondered to Jason’s. His puzzlement told her he knew she lied. Closing her eyes, she realized that was the last thing she needed to do. Lying sent him millions of miles away from her and only now did she get him back. “I need to speak to my Gramms.”
Nodding and understanding the answer both men eyed one another. Jason indicated the conversation was over. “Fine. When we return to Port Charles you will speak to Mrs. Hardy and I will tell you exactly why Helena and Stavros chose you.”
With that, Stephen closed the door behind him. Gia faced him with her armed folded across her chest.
“You honestly believe Elizabeth is the related to royalty? That girl can’t even stand up in public without chills. You got this whole thing wrong and I’m going to march right in there and tell Jason what kind of deluded ideas you have in that brain of yours.”
Calmly he approached Gia, it reminded of her of Stavros with each determined step promising to strike fear into any heart. “Ease dropping are we, Ms. Campbell? Well, it doesn’t matter what you think. It’s what’s Helena and Stavros think that’s going to ruin Nicholas and Elizabeth’s life.”
With that he left her standing there stunned. Through all her dealings with Nicholas’s family, never had they made a move without backing it up.
“No way!”
The more the idea rewinded in her head the more she hated Elizabeth. Why couldn’t she be the Empress like in Nicholas’s books? Then they could get married and the fortunes of the past would all be theirs. No, they have to waste it on a girl who wants nothing to do with grand galas and millions of countrymen adoring her. Instead, she wanted to be free on the back of Jason’s bike.
But what if? Gia grinned. Perhaps this could work in her favor. Even if she was the next Empress of Russia who cares. Jason won't be around to stand at her side and she will become the biggest joke in royal history.

Chapter 25
Setting the glass of water down, Jason wondered why Elizabeth lied. She knew he saw right through her. Wiping his hands on his knees, he decided to leave her be.
“Don’t go Jason.” Her plead reached all the way to his heart. Slowly sitting back down, he faced her. His blues eyes narrowed.
Elizabeth bit the corner of her mouth before she spoke again. “I wasn’t trying to lie. I just wasn’t prepared for that particular question I guess. Did you ever feel out of place in your own home? The Quatermaines? Of course you did. Why else would you be living around Sonny. I felt like that most of my life, but I didn’t realize until Stephen asked me that there might be a real reason.”
“So why did you lie.” Jason leaned closer, reclining back against the chair.
“I thought that by denying it I might not have to face the truth”
Leaning in a bit closer his face mere inches from hers. “Like with us.”
Shame. That’s what Elizabeth felt at the moment. Her fingers reached up to graze his cheek. “Help me Jason. Don’t let me hurt you anymore and don’t let me deny what I don’t want to face.”
His much larger hands covered hers, bringing them to his lips. The tenderness of his kiss filled her with a warm glow, pooling for the chance to grow hot. “I will stand by you Elizabeth, but some decisions you have to make for yourself.”
Knowing that was the best answer she could receive she decided to move on to her next selfish desire. “Hold me.” The memories she didn’t want to remember flowing in like a waterfall.
Smiling as if he’d just been on a ride, he pulled the sheets back a bit gently slipping his body beside her, careful not to bounce the bed. Collecting her tiny form against him, taking special care no to reinjure her, he settle sitting up against the wall staring down into her face. That simple sparkle in her eyes returned with a bit of mischief and unable to resist he grinned wider.
“What?” A small chuckle escaped.
Pleading innocence, “Nothing, I was just thinking about another time. Just sitting here together you holding me. Kinda reversed roles.”
“Did you want me lying up against your chest?” He was joking, but Elizabeth remembered one particular night he laid in her lap and she read the book about Egypt aloud.
“Why didn’t we just admit it then that we were happy. Was it because I was just starting to take control of my life or perhaps because you still loved Carly?”
“I cared for Carly. I never loved her. The betrayal of my best friends is what I couldn’t deal with.”
Snuggling up closer, the smell of him wrapped around her like a blanket. She never felt safer. “I have something to tell you.”
Jason frowned at the hesitation in her voice. A shadow passed over her face, and he didn’t like it one bit.
“The night I was kidnapped do you know what I was doing?” A weary grin stared up at Jason as he shook his head. “I finished up a painting of a man in motion. This particular man held a pool stick asking me not five seconds later to play. I didn’t know how, but.. well I’m sure you know the story.”
Yes, he did. He remembered the smell of her hair just as he did now. Sometimes at night he still imagined that moment when she tucked so perfectly next to him. Every slight wiggle of her body tantalizing.
Elizabeth must have remembered at well because the temperature in the room rose ten notches.
He lowered his lips to her, but she resisted him somehow. “I have to tell you Jason. I can’t put this off much longer.”
As much as he wanted to kiss her, he knew this was more important. “I’m listening.
“I was finishing it for me. I missed you and painting that moment let me remember I did fight at least once for myself. You gave me strength… Anyway, I just stood back eyeing my painting when someone knocked at the door. I thought it was Lucky again so I ignored it. Then a voice yelled from the other side saying he wanted to buy my art. I’d sold a few pieces lately and didn’t think anything of it. I opened the door face to face with a man who claimed to be an art dealer. I already had one take a few of my works, but I thought why not another. I let him in. I should have known better. He glanced at my picture of you and I thought he really might be interested, but than the door knocked again. I opened it again only to have the guy behind me shove a piece of cloth to my mouth. The other guy just stood over me. It was Andreas, Helena’s servant. I blacked out from there.”
“When I woke up. I found myself on that god-forsaken island. Helena explained to me Nicholas would be there shortly. All I could think of was why me? I ran Jason. I used one of those punches you taught me to get away and I ran all the way to the cliffs. I think I might actually have risked jumping. I even threated the guards I would if they touched me.” Elizabeth’s bottom lip trembled. “It was the first time I saw Stavros. He approached me with a calming kindness. He told me he made the rules and he would help. I believed him Jason. For one second I believed him.” The tears stared to fall and her voice began to break. “He grabbed me by the neck and held me over those cliffs. He told me if I died all his problems would be solved. I really thought I was going to die. My life did flash before me and all I saw was you. I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks below and I knew my body would be broken in tiny pieces washed away into the sea. I couldn’t breath and everything started to dim. He threw me. I didn’t decend though. I hit rock and grass, scrapping my arms, gasping for air. Towering over me, he told me that Nicholas was my salvation. Kneeling beside me, whispering in my ear that if I did not obey him that… that I would die, but he decribed it in tiny detail. I still hear that whispering in my head. It haunts me.”
“There’s more Jason. Something I didn’t dare tell Nicholas. At night when I slept Stavros would lean over me whispering other things. I think he took some sick pleasure in watching me and listening to how his corrupted mind worked. On one particular occasion, I pushed the dresser in front of the door so he couldn’t get in. I thought I might actually sleep but later that night he…”
Her entire body shivered in fear. Jason kept quite the entire time though with each word his fists curled and knuckles white. Even the normally calm line of his jaw clenched. Gently coaxing Elizabeth to face it nearly tore her apart. “Did he rape you?”
The question came out calm, but the tension behind it caught her attention. Tears slide down her face when she faces Jason.
“He like me wearing that white linen. He told me I looked like I belonged here just like Laura. He talked about her a lot, always referring me as Nicholas’s Laura, but that night I wasn’t prepared for what he did. I woke up to him touching me… My face, my hair, nothing serious at first. I couldn't move. My own fear paralyzed me. I thought if I just held still and pretended to sleep, he might go away. He didn’t Jason. He started moving his hands, lower and lower. His finger grazing every crevice of my body though he didn't go beyond the linen. Then it was over. I opened my eyes thinking he was gone. The rape was bad, but to be torture with the threat can come close. My skin crawled and I wanted to just peel it off. I swear I would have, but He was behind me. I could feel it. I shook Jason, more than I am now. His hand trailed from my shoulder to my fingers. He clutched them within his. The tears fell faster, I thought for sure he would rape me. His hot breath came near my ear.
“Don’t think you can hide from me again or I will finish what I started tonight. There will be no need for you to marry Nicholas because I will father you children.”
He walked over to the door as if nothing happened. The dresser came crashing down in one simple shove, to prove his point. All I remember I jumping in fear, shaking. When the door shut, I collapsed. I didn’t get up from that spot Jason. I stayed there knowing this was worst then my rape. From there on I complied. I used to fight back at least a little. I even screamed at Helena to take me home, but after that…. I didn’t fight anymore. At least if I complied and stayed closer to Nicholas, he wasn’t around the corner to taunt me or glare at me with those unholy eyes. The linens made it all worse. I just wanted to burn them all. I wanted to wear anything else. I tried to get rid them before all this happened, but I learned my lessons quick on that island. Nicholas literally was my salvation and I was to do what Stavros told me.”
Listening to the entire tail, Jason knew exactly what had to be done. Pulling her shattered form closer to him, letting Elizabeth cry and truly rebuild herself from within the safety of his arms. Beyond, revenge, beyond simple rage, because just as Elizabeth pointed out before, he didn’t think when pulling the trigger. For the first time in his life, Jason would. Just before that bullet lodged itself into Stavros’s heart, Jason would.

Chapter 26
Broad daylight and Luke Spencer actually showed his face. All traces of Elizabeth’s parentage came up with zip so he tried a new approach.
Knocking on the door of some cabin in Canada, Spencer faced the man with all the answers.
“Can I help you?” An old man half the size of Luke opened the door. His rugged Russian accent made his appearance amusing.
“Yes. Are you Professor Tammet?”
“Why yes I am. Did you come by for a lecture my boy?”
First of all, for the old coot to call him boy and second being he was completely relaxed, Luke knew Helena never touched him. Damn. “No, I didn’t come for a Lecture Professor. I can hoping you might know about the Royal Romanov family and their supposed survival.”
The little man smiled. “Ahh fortune hunter are you?”
His eyebrows even perked up. Who was this crazy guy?
“Come in. I’ll tell you anything you want to know.”
Luke definitely had second thoughts, but this wasn’t about him. It was about that little gal who visited him even after the fire when everyone seemed to fade out of his life. “Ok, but don’t try any funny business. I have friends in high places you know.”
As he closed the door behind him, the old man grinned. “So do I Mr. Spencer so do I.”
Port Charles
Jason made his way up to Sonny’s penthouse. Everything changed for the moment he came home. Rescuing Elizabeth wasn’t the hard part. Seeing her and facing the knowledge that they wasted time skirting their feelings may have caused some of this mess. If they had faced their feelings the night he left, he was sure that none of this would have happened. Instead, he would be back in Italy touring all the glass blower shops for the perfect vase.
Nodding at Johnny as he let him into the penthouse, one hand stopped him.
“Is Ms. Webber alright. Sonny said she was hurt.” The concern on this man’s face let him know he wasn’t the only heart she touched. Elizabeth had that effect on people.
“She’s resting. I’ll tell her you asked.”
Johnny smiled leaving it at that.
Sonny greeted him with a manly hug. “Jason! Good to see you. For a minute I thought I might have to storm the island Mafia style.” His eyebrows arched in amusement, showing off his dimples.
“No, but we had a few bumps on the way. Elizabeth’s fine.” Reading his friend’s face. “She’s resting.” Shifting backwards a bit. “Did you and Alexis actually get Spencer and Stephen to talk? He came down asking question, but didn’t give any answers.”
“From what I can gather, Luke and Stephen actually agreed Elizabeth may be a descendant of some Russian family. Alexis may have called them the Romanovs. I thought it was crazy myself, but Luke ran off faster than lightening to prove it. It’s crucial to the Cassadines because if Elizabeth is the heir than most of the Cassadine wealth belongs to her.”
Jason froze. It made sense. Why would they push her to marry Nicholas or worse….
This is what you seek.
Pieces of moments fit together like a puzzle. The only missing piece being the dog. This is what you seek
“What? You believe this fairy tale too? I thought even Robin couldn’t even sell you into that stuff.”
Snapping out of it, he bent over in rage. His hands at his knees as he tried to control the one emotion eating away at him since Elizabeth told him what happened.
“Jason? What’s wrong. I know Elizabeth has this effect on you, but-“
“It’s not her. It’s what Stavros. Luke and Stephen are right and I think we have most of the pieces to prove it.”
Sonny stepped back a little disturbed by the sudden change in his friend. What happened to the cool, calm man he hired to do business?
Jason swung his gaze into his direction. “Trust me Sonny.”
Something about his eyes told him that helping Jason was all he could do. “What do you need?”
“If we have a watch on the Cassadines and a few armed guards checking around Elizabeth’s studio, Kelly’s, and where ever else she goes.”
“Hey it’s just like old times for her and I. We can handle it. So I guess that means you’re doing the hard part.”
“I want to know exactly what he’s up too.”
Sonny’s dimples showed once more. “Isn’t that supposed to be my line. Sometimes I wonder why I’m running this territory.”
“I like the leg work. You like giving orders.” The statement made both men grin a bit wider.
“Between the both of us the Cassadines won’t know what hit’em.”

Chapter 27
Elizabeth stayed in her old room at Grams. It had been a long time since she’d even stepped foot inside this wall, in fact it was the only place besides her studio she could actually call home.
Grams tucked her in before sitting beside her bed. “Comfy?” Her warm inviting smile touching her like her parents never did.
“I’m not 6yrs old Grams.” Giggling a bit. “I miss it though. Remember when I was young and Sara got to spend a few days with you, but Dad made me stay? I pleaded with him to let me come so I could help you make cookies, knowing my sister go the pleasure alone.”
Audrey’s eyes shifted a bit. “What made you think about that particular day dear?”
Elizabeth watched the flash in her face. Is this how Jason did it? Reading peoples faces told her a lot more than perhaps she wanted to face. “Grams there’s something I have to ask you and it’s not going to be easy.”
“Dear, you know you can ask me anything you want.”
Swallowing hard, knowing this wouldn’t end well. “Am I adopted?”
Grams froze in shock. “Elizabeth you know that-“
“The truth Grams. The Cassadines kidnapped me because of my family. Not this one. So if you love me. If you really want to help don’t lie to me.”
Audrey ‘s face turned towards the window a moment. Her thought reflected in her aging features. “I had hoped you’d never find out. I’ve rather enjoyed your company.”
Elizabeth laid helpless in suspense. It was true. Her stomach turned trying to listen.
“I love you my dear and I always will no matter what the truth is. You and I have been though to much not be family.” Grams patted her hand before taking a deep breath.
Taking a deep breath before facing her granddaughter again. “It all started when your father tried to get that position in Russia. He met a professor by the name of Tammet in Vancouver Canada. This man promised your father a position on one condition. That he adopted a child with out any parents. Your mother wanted that so badly. After Sara, she couldn’t conceive another child so they adopted you with open arms. The problem was that the Russian position did open and your father choose you instead. He wanted his girls to have a better life so he settled in Colorado. Professor Tammet actually destroyed part of your father’s career because of it. That day you mentioned. I was being selfish about not wanting to see you. I just didn’t understand that a child can’t be responsible for another man’s actions. Once I did I loved you even more.”
“So I’m a parentless child with no history except the family I grew to love?”
“ We all tried to find your bloodlines, hoping to give you some shred of information when you grew older, but the only one who might have known your parentage wanted you in Russia for some reason. He wanted you raised there, but because you father didn’t comply…”
“No one knows any answers.” Mixed emotions turned her inside out. So, she wasn’t responsible for stopping her father from going to Russia after all. Then after no one could discover the truth of her parentage they kept it secret. As crazy as it sounded, she understood.
Holding out her hand with a weary smile, Elizabeth wanted Audrey to know just how much she appreciated it. “Thank you Grams.”
“I don’t think you should be thanking me dear. At least before you knew where all this leads. Whatever that man Tammet knows about you. If the Cassadines are willing to kidnap you because of it perhaps it’s better if you never knew.”
Frowning she understood Grams point of view. “No, I have to face it, just like everything else in my life.” Rolling back down to bed, Audrey took the hint to leave. The lights switched off, followed by the thud of a door closing. Staring into the dark, she could still hear her own words
“Help me Jason. Don’t let me hurt you anymore and don’t let me deny what I don’t want to face.”
“I will stand by you Elizabeth, but some decisions you have to make for yourself.”
Her own thoughts echoed the answer. Tomorrow she would seek out this Tammet and find out exactly what he knows.
Gia grabbed a few groceries from the store, placing them inside Nicholas’s Jag. Nighttime wasn’t exactly the safest place to shop, but she had a special date with her man including whip cream and strawberries. A shiver ran down her spine, anticipation a drug of it’s own.
“Ms. Campbell.”
Dropping the bag, strawberries tumbling everywhere. “Stavros! Nicholas will be here any second and if you don’t back away I’ll-“
“You’ll what?” That confident grin almost taking the wind from her sails.
“I’ll scream…”
“Go ahead, but I’m not here to kidnap anyone. In fact I’m here to make a proposition.”
“Look you can forget it Darth Vader. I’m not wishy washy like Elizabeth, I bite.”
Just as soon as the words left her mouth, she knew they were a mistake. Stavros’s eyes glowed with an evil light. “Darth Vader? I’ll have to look that one up.”
Each step closer to her, enclosing Gia in utter fear.
“I’m going to say this once Ms Campbell and I hope you have the ears to listen. You are going to set up Elizabeth Webber and in return I will leave my son to his spirited companion. It’s that simple. I take the woman you hate so much and I will not involve myself again in Nicholas’s life.”
“Do you think I was born yesterday. Ok, so you don’t get involved in his life. That doesn’t include Helena or any other insane family members won’t.”
His large hand came down on her shoulder. The pressuring weight, subduing her instantly. “I control my mother and Stephen and Alexis will face their own fate soon enough. So, think on it. You finally have my son all to yourself without any interference. Just as long as you help me get Elizabeth back.”
With that, he started to leave throwing a few sentences over his shoulder. “If you decide not to do this, I might be forced not only to take my son away from you, but perhaps I’ll strangle you. Yes, choking the life from you seems appropriate considering your interference into my affairs.”
With that, he disappeared into the night, leaving Gia shaking and for the first time absolutely terrified.

Chapter 28
The nights air swept through the curtains into Elizabeth’s bedroom. A shadow of some kind climbed in quietly from the tree outside. Not a sound, not even a creak of boards and he shifted towards the bed. Looming over the sleeping angel, watching her dream, a contented smile on her face. His breath mere inches from her, smelling the irresistible scent only she created. He tried to kiss her soft waiting lips.
Elizabeth’s eyes popped open screaming! Cut off by a hand.
The man spoke near her ear. “Settle down Elizabeth. It’s me.”
Finally letting her go, she shoved him away wincing at the force used. “Lucky!”
Seeing for himself the agony in her eyes, “Your hurt! What happened? Was it Jason?”
Hit from behind, falling to the ground, a gun suddenly pointed at the back of his head, Jason held Lucky still.
“Wait! Jason… It’s only Lucky.” Surprised and worried Grams may hear them.
Putting the safety back on, twisting his knee a little harder into his back while he gave his deadly warning, “Don’t you ever come in this window again.”
Slowly picking his aching body off the floor Lucky turned towards Jason. “You can protect me from Elizabeth, but you sure can’t keep her safe from anyone else! Come on now. Look at her Jason. She’s been shot hasn’t she? You let her get shot. After how many times did you warn me to keep her safe? How many times...“
“Lucky shut up! Don’t pretend to be all high and mighty. You didn’t risk your life coming half way across the world to get me and you certainly don’t get a vote in who I trust with MY LIFE!”
The words rang inside his ears. That’s all he heard when they broke up. Waving his arms out like some parading fool, “Fine. Trust the mob and forget that my family convinced Jason to get you.”
Elizabeth’s eyes narrowed in disbelieve.
“That’s right. Jason had to be convinced to get you. My mother is the one who did it, swearing up and down he was the ONLY one who could. Like my father and I couldn’t pull it off.” Rolling his eyes up and down Jason's stone wall.
Shaking her head. “You’re lying. You're just jealous of Jason and your lying.”
Acting as innocent as can be, dropping out to the trees again. “Ask him Elizabeth. Ask the man you put so much faith in.”
With that, he hopped over and out, leaving Elizabeth staring at Jason in puzzlement.
************************
“Come on old man we don’t have much further.” Luke rolled his eyes as the old man putted slowly towards Luke’s apartment.
“Why aren’t we going to your house Spencer?’
Turning around rather annoyed. “You know next time you decide to “watch us” remember to watch the people too. My wife and I aren’t quite together yet.”
“Yet! So as I said why aren’t we staying at your house.”
**************************
Stephen and Alexis actually met in front of Windermere on the docks. The night air refreshing enough, but chilling to know Stavros and Helena roamed on the waters beyond.
“So what do you think?” Alexis asked her brother.
“Think about what?”
Smiling a bit. “Is Stavros irratating Helena or the other way around. I particularly think Stavros isn’t happy with Helena right now with the –“
“I understand Alexis. Standing here and staring out towards the yacht doesn’t help our predicament.”
“I was hoping you’d see it my way. My next distraction may have a lot to do with water. Slimy as it is.” Staring at her feet the slime of algae attached to the surface.
“I’ve had news. Luke may have found someone to verify our claim. He told Mr. Corinthos and I to expect them soon.”
“Well that’s a interesting stroke of luck. Not to meant too convenient.” Alexis wouldn’t trust Helena not to have tampered with anything to do with this Legacy problem.
“I agree. We’ll sit back and watch this man carefully. Who knows if Helena paid him off already.”
“You mean threatened him with is live and murdered his family don’t you?” Alexis playful sarcasm actually made Stephen smile.
“I love you too Stephan.”
The smile from his sister gave him strength. Why didn’t he see that before? In the coming days he’d need it and \ Alexis seemed to notice. They were in this together.

Chapter 29
Elizabeth just stared at Jason for one moment before doubling over in pain. “Jason.”
He already was pulling her up into his arms. “I’m here.”
Laying her back down, letting him sit beside her on the bed. “What took you so long.”
He smiled. “I was talking to Sonny.”
“Already a friend comes first. I hope this isn’t a habit.” The teasing smile marred by the strain on her chest. “It hurts Jason.”
Gently checking the wound, his hands grazing just above her creamy white breasts. The electrical jolt nearly taking away all pain and leaving something else. “Jason?”
When their eyes met, he noticed her darken. His blood quickened wondering if he just touched her again…
A small gasp past her lips, when his finger lightly pinched her nipple. The pleasures of just watching her unfold before him. “Elizabeth, does you chest still hurt?” Almost forgetting what he meant to do.
Her hand roamed his cheek. “I-I can’t think. You’re touching me.”
The words slipped out of her mouth like molten honey, asking him to take her. Unable to resist he kissed her. Not just a tender chastised kiss. No, this one Jason attacked, and Elizabeth opened fully, her arms wrapped around his neck, arching closer.
Pulling away carefully, letting Elizabeth focus just a moment, the confusion of why he stopped tainted her features in disappointment.
Raking his hands through is hair Jason decides to stand away from her a few feet or else he might end up forgetting what he had to say, and what he wanted to do. “When Lucky said those things. I know it hurt you. Don’t hide it and don’t put on a face for me Elizabeth. I don’t want that between us. That’s not who we are to each other.”
Elizabeth frowned. She wanted to forget it. Pretend that it didn’t exist. Jason was doing exactly what she told him to, making her face things. Finally doing that. Finally, looking up in the eyes of a man who may never have saved her? No, it’s not who Jason was. “I didn’t believe him.”
“Didn’t you?”
Coming to terms with the truth. “Even if he was telling some of the truth. I know you came after me. I know that we are here together and starting over. I trust you Jason. Whatever happened before was my fault. I chose to be with Lucky instead of you, making the biggest mistake of my life. If you hesitated to rescue me. I wouldn’t blame you and I don’t.”
“So you do think there is a possibility that I didn’t want to come for you?”
Sitting up on the edge of the bed, winging her legs back and fourth, her face took on a serious light. “Did you? I think you did. I think that you might have given Luke and Lucky a hard time, but you would have come after me anyway. I know that because you love me.”
The biggest smile Elizabeth ever saw spread across his face. He bridged the distance between them holding her face within his hands. “ I was angry at Luke for loosing you to the Cassadines. You’re right though. No matter what I would have come for you, because I do love you.”
Elizabeth smiled, biting her lip. “Jason?
“Yes.”
“Please kiss me.”
That smile came back and Jason did. He kissed her just as hungrily as before. The passion between them intensified every crackling second.
THUD< THUD< THUD<
“Elizabeth dear. Are you all right? I woke up to someone shouting, but than it was quite. Now I hear voices.”
Elizabeth giggled while Jason shook his head in frustration.
“This always happens to us doesn’t it.” She whispered to him before answering Grams. “I’m coming Grams.
Jason treaded over to the window as if he was being punished. “Just tell her Elizabeth.”
He wasn’t some teenager sneaky up to her window. Mrs. Hardy had to know he was back in Elizabeth’s life.
“Yea. Tell her you’re with me in my room carrying a gun?” Indicating to the piece at the bedside.
“Elizabeth?”
“I’m coming Grams, remember I’m a little slow.” Facing Jason one last time. “I’ll tell her, just go for right now.”
“Whatever you want.” Still grumbling at the situation, grabbing the gun and lowering himself outside with one fluent movement.
Elizabeth giggled before answering the door. “Grams?”
Searching the room beyond her before questions actually formed. “Was Lucky here again?”
The dreaded words still came to haunt her. The old Lucky used to come through that window, sleeping at her bedside, but now everything changed and Jason made the memories in this room a little more charged.
“Grams. I think it’s time I tell you the whole story.”
Mrs. Hardy knew her granddaughter at least partially and this could not be good. “Oh dear.”

Chapter 30 (NC-17)
“Grams, do you even have a clue what’s going on?” Elizabeth started to explain, but Audrey seemed to just shut down.
“I know you were kidnapped, but you're home now. That’s all that matters.”
“You don’t want to know how or why? Come on. There is a hole in my chest and you just want to move on? I can’t do that Grams.”
Facing her Granddaughter realizing that no matter how much she wanted to except this little incident. Elizabeth wanted to face it. “Alright. Fine tell me, but if it involves that Morgan fellow-“
“You do know!”
“Chloe explained that Jason brought you back with Stephan Cassadine. I refused to acknowledge anything else.”
“You refuse to acknowledge Jason is back in my life. That’s what you won’t believe.” Irritation and a little resentment that Gram still will not budge on this subject.
“Elizabeth, he’s a dangerous man.” Pleading with her.
“No, he’s the man who protects me time and time again. He’s the one who listens and understands the good and the bad in me. He loves me and he proves that repeatedly by rescuing me from that accursed island when no one else even attempted. He is the one I can count on. So, get used to us Grams. Jason’s not going anywhere”
Elizabeth watched the parental retort coming and cut it off at the knees. “You know what happened last time I chose Jason. You know I’ll move away with out informing you of anything in my life. Personally I don’t want it to go that far, but Jason comes first.”
Piercing her lips together Mrs. Hardy swallowed her distaste for now. “Fine, Jason is in you life, I just don't want him around here.” With that, she climbed up of the bed towards the door. “You know I’m just worried about you?”
Elizabeth softened. “I know, but you have to face this. It’s a long time coming.”
Retreating to the bed. “Why couldn’t it be Lucky?”
Raising one eyebrow, the firmness of her jaw indicating instant displeasure at Spencer’s name. “Gram, Lucky has never been the same since that fire. I had to face that the hard way. First love is sweet. I will always remember times like our church and our night at Windom’s, but that’s all it is…memories. I feel nothing for the man he’s become. Don’t shove him in my face again.” The last said so forceful it set the point home to Audrey.
Nodding and realizing this was a losing battle, she said her goodnight and left.
Elizabeth flopped back on the bed forgetting her wound. Doubling over a moment, cursing he own stupidity, she tried to sit up and lessen the pain.
“Well, at least you’re fighting.” She told herself. Now for the rest of the world.
************************************************
Jumping down, Jason came face to face with one of his own men.
“Lucky Spencer is still snooping around.”
“Make sure he doesn’t come near Elizabeth again. No, wait. I’ll make that point myself.”
Moving past the guard, rounding the corner, Jason decided it was about time Lucky knew exactly where his chances stood with Elizabeth.
He sat a few feet from Audrey’s front door, moping like some sap.
“What are you doing here?”
Staring up at the man who continually destroyed his life. “Sitting. What’s it look like Jason?”
“I told you to stay away from Elizabeth.”
“What? Is she mad at you now? Does she know her knight isn’t what he seems? I think I’ll stay awhile for comfort purposes."
How Lucky could be so brainless, by trying to walk past him and uttering another garbage remark, he didn’t know. Jason’s arm snaked out grabbing his shirt and yanking him towards him. “It’s over. “
The menace in his voice actually penetrating that last brain cell in Lucky’s head. This was Morgan the Mob Enforcer, not Jason. Fear, something a Spencer never seemed to feel creeped up like a vice around his neck.
In a last ditch effort, he shove himself away. “Do you honestly believe that you can hurt me and Elizabeth won’t care?”
His eyes narrowed to slits and his knuckles cracking one by one. Jason sent the message loud and clear. “I told you. It’s over.”
For the first time in his life, Lucky truly believed. Not because of Elizabeth, or his family, but because the man in front of him wasn’t leaving room for anything else. It's over became a whole new meaning.
***************************************************************
The next morning, Elizabeth rolled up out of bed a bit groggy, the ache of her chest dull. Sitting, trying to wake up, she focused a bit, landing on the man sleeping in the corner. A smile creeped across her face. Quietly approaching the chair across the room, she wondered if he truly slept there all night.
Her fingers grazed his face, the soft stubble of hair, exciting her. Daring a bit more, she slid her fingers downward, spanning his chest, beneath his jacket.
Standing so close, her breath warming his ear, “Jason, it’s time to wake up.”
The instant she spoke, Jason pulled her into his lap. The squeal of surprise cut off by his mouth covering hers. Exploring not only by taste, but by feel, sliding his hands beneath her flannel pajamas.
Elizabeth moaned as he cupped her butt pulling her closer to his body.
She could feel his hardness against her, that exhilarating feeling making her brazen. Her hand unbuttoned his jeans.
In response, Jason kissed her even deeper, stealing away her senses and leaving only what her heart and body could feel. Pulling off the nightshirt, her auburn locks cascaded down, covering part of her chest. Gently sweeping them away, the feel of silkiness comparable only to her creamy satin skin. Plumping one nipple with his fingertips Jason sucked it into his mouth. The tantalizing sensation, undoing her. His hands kneaded her back, pulling her into him as the torture continued with the other. Elizabeth slipped off his jacket, working on his shirt by sliding her own fingers beneath. The rocklike muscle rippled at her touch, encouraging so much more.
After his tender assault, Jason kissed her again, only to lift her up toward the bed. Both shrugging off the rest of their clothing, Elizabeth laid before him.
For the first time, he drank of her. Every fantasy he imagined never came close to the reality he faced. Her body gleamed with every touch and awoke a deep response. Leaning down into her, his knee cradled between her lucious thighs. Rubbing her core, dripping with pearl-like heat.
Elizabeth watched the man she loved file out of his clothes, stunned at the true male she faced. Not only was his skin kissed by the sun, but the tone of his body, the glow outlining each sexy muscle left her aquiver with pure want. His large @#%$ rubbing against her thigh melted the pool completely at her center.
This wasn't a game teenagers played, this was unadulterated sex, Her hands grazed the length of his membrane, hearing a groan of pleasure.
Going further Jason eased one finger into her center, making her arch and scream in estasy, The building heat near unbearable before pulled it away. Searching for his wallet, he pulled out the condom, slipping it on. Unable to wait much longer she kissed him, falling back trusting him to catch her. Plunging deep inside she screamed his name. The tight, smoldering heat from before mere flames compared to her molten core. His own gasp of pleasure immeasurable. Moving in a rhythm as old as time, the mounting need grew. Elizabeth arched with forfillment, the explosion more than heaven transformed just for them. Jason held off letting her seize the entire moment, straining to keep his back. Rocking once more, his own release spiraled upward, becoming lost inside a realm higher then eternal bliss.
Panting and lingering inside her for one more moment. Their eyes met. The smiles of intoxicating pleasure and loving auras surrounding. Rolling to the side, pulling Elizabeth close against his chest, Jason lingered in the complete contentment he never experienced before. She savored the same, knowing this wasn’t a one-time fling, but a lasting addiction for the rest of her life.
“You weren’t asleep.” Her words giggled.
“Nope.” Trying to keep from grinning.
Knocking him playfully in the chest, he finally chuckled.
“How far would you have let me go?”
“Obliviously not long at all. I wanted you to much.” The darkening of his eyes suggested more.
The arch of her eyebrows coincided with her thoughts, “Again? Really?”
His mouth claimed hers once more and they started the intoxicating dance again, this timer slow, and extremely tender. One word always falling short of what magnitude they truly shared…LOVE
