Chapter 11
"Georgie that was a great house. It was big and roomy. It had a lot of windows. It's perfect." Dillon said walking into Kelly's with Georgie following him.
"Dillon, we only need three bedrooms, not five." Georgie said laughing. They both sat down at a table.
"I said you could have the master bedroom." Dillon said.
Georgie laughed. "I'm gonna be completely honest here okay?"
"All right." Dillon sighed.
"The house is beautiful. It really is. But it's just too big for us. You know? We're gonna be a family of three and I want a small cozy home so we can be together." Georgie said reaching over the table and taking Dillon's hand.
"You consider us a family?" Dillon grinned.
"Yeah well, what else would we be?" Georgie said looking away and then looking back. Dillon smiled.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
"Dillon this is perfect." Georgie said putting her hands together. "It's one floor, it's got three bedrooms. Oh my God I love it." Georgie said happily.
"Well if you're happy with it then so am I." Dillon said.
"Dillon if you don't like it we can look somewhere else. I mean we can even get the big house if you want-"
"Georgie. I like this place. It's nice." Dillon said putting his arm around Georgie. Georgie hugged him tightly.
"I can't wait until this baby is born." She said quietly.
"Me either." Dillon said holding her close. Georgie let go of him suddenly. She put her hand on her stomach. "Are-are you okay?" Dillon asked her.
"I don't know I feel like the baby's coming out or something." Georgie said.
"Does it hurt? Should I call the doctor?" Dillon asked her.
Georgie didn't say anything. She sat down on the floor.
"Okay, just breathe." Dillon said kneeling down next to her. Georgie breathed in and out.
"It's okay Dillon." She said between her breaths.
"What do you mean it's okay? Your like going into labor!" Dillon said.
"It stopped." Georgie said.
"It stopped? Just like that it stopped?"
"Yeah I've read about this. They're called the Braxton-Hix Contractions or something. It's fine, it happens to everyone." Georgie said slowly getting up. Dillon stood up next to her.
"Are you sure? I think we should go to the doctor G, just in case."
"No Dillon, don't worry about it. I'm fine. Let's just go back to my apartment okay?" Georgie said.
"All right." Dillon took Georgie's hand and let her out of the apartment.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Dillon sipped his beer at Jakes. He watched the football game on the small TV. Someone tapped him on the shoulder. Dillon turned around to see Sage standing behind him. She sat down next to him without saying anything.
"Hows it going?" She asked him.
"Okay." Dillon said taking another sip of his beer.
"How was LA?" She asked him.
"Good."
"Dillon why are you acting like this? We can't even be friends now? I haven't seen you in like 5 months. I missed you." She said.
Dillon didn't say anything. He stared straight infront of him.
"I know you still love me. And I know you still wanna be with me. Dillon I know you better than anyone else. We have spent most of our lives together. You can't just give up on it now."
"You're right about one thing Sage, I do care about you. But my loyalty lies with Georgie now. I have spent most of my life with her too. And she's my best friend." Dillon said still looking straight ahead.
"That doesn't mean that we can't be together."
"Sage, she's carrying my child."
"What?"
"She's pregnant. And I'm the father. Besides I don't wanna be with you anymore. I don't trust you."
"Dillon, we can make it work. Please just give me another chance."
"How many chances am I gonna give you? We have been through this so many times Sage and I am sick, I am so sick of it. I'm done with you."
Sage wiped the tears from her face. "When did you guys sleep together?"
"That doesn't matter. None of that matters. What happened, happened. And now I only have room for two people in my life and that is Georgie and my unborn child."
"Did I hurt you so much that you can't even look at me?" Sage asked him.
Dillon turned a little to face her. "You can go now." He said coldly and turning back.
Tears streamed down Sage's face. She wiped them with her hand. She leaned over to Dillon and kissed him on the cheek. "Good luck Dillon." She got up and walked away.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Dillon knocked on Georgie's apartmen door. "Georgie." He called out knocking again. He took out his keys and found Georgie's apartment key in there. He opened her door slowly just in case she was sleeping. He walked into her apartment. Dillon saw Georgie collapsed on the floor.
"Georgie!" Dillon yelled. He ran over to her and kneeled down next to her. She was laying motionless on the ground. "Georgie wake up! Georgie!" Dillon said over and over again. He got up and grabbed the phone. "Yeah uh hi my friend is collapsed on the floor. I-I just came in and found her like that. She's pregnant. Please come quick." Dillon hung up and throw the phone on the sofa. He ran back to Georgie and took her into his lap. "It's gonna be okay." He said moving her hair from her face.

Chapter 12
Dillon sat by Georgie's side in the small hospital room. All the events that took place that night went by too fast. Dillon couldn't even believe that it was still happening. Dillon took Georgie's hand who was unconscious.
"We're gonna get through this." Dillon whispered. "I promise."
Georgie's eyes moved around. She opened her eyes slowly. She looked around until she found Dillon.
"Hey you." Dillon said. He sat up straight.
"Hi." She answered back in a whisper.
"How you feeling?" Dillon asked her.
"Not too good." Georgie said smiling.
"I'm sorry." Dillon said.
"It's okay. You didn't do anything." She said slowly. "As long as the baby is okay."
"The baby is going to be fine." Dillon assured her.
"Do you know anything yet?" She asked him.
"The doctor hasn't come back with the test results yet." Dillon said. He kissed her the back of her hand softly. "I don't know what I would do if anything happened to you."
Georgie gave him a warm smile. "I'm not going anywhere."
"Good." Dillon said kissing her hand again. Doctor Meadows walked into the room.
"How are you feeling Ms. Jones?" She asked Georgie.
"Soar. What's going on?" Georgie asked.
"I'm going to speak with Dillon outside first. We'll be right back." Dr. Meadows said going back outside. Dillon slowly let go of Georgie's hand.
"Everything is going to be okay." He said to her assuringly. He went outside the room to meet Dr. Meadows.
"The test results came back." Dr. Meadows started. "It doesn't look too good."
"Why? What do you mean it doesn't look too good?"
"Georgie is at high risk of losing her baby right now. Her cervix started to open already and the baby was pushing its way out. She's only entered her 18th week of the pregnancy and it is way too early for the baby to be born." Dillon started to look worried. "But along with this Georgie has been bleeding and has already lost a lot of blood which may have caused her to pass out."
"So what now?" Dillon asked worriedly.
"Right now we can-" Dr. Meadows was cut off by Georgie's scream. Both Dillon and Dr. Meadows ran into the room. Georgie was sitting up in the bed holding her stomach. Dr. Meadows went to check her blood pressure which was rising rapidly.
"It hurts!" She cried. Dillon grabbed her hand. "No, no something's wrong. Something's wrong with the baby." Georgie panicked. "Dillon...Dillon.." Georgie said dizzy. She laid back and closed her eyes.
"Georgie!" Dillon yelled. Dr. Meadows called in the nurses.
"Mr. Quartermaine, can you please leave the room?" Dr. Meadows asked him.
"What's wrong with her? I'm not leaving her!" Dillon cried. The nurses came into the room. "Dr. Meadows, what's going on?" Dillon said louder.
"Nurse please take the young gentleman outside." Dr. Meadows said as she put on her face mask. Two nurses grabbed Dillon and tried to push him out the room.
"No, please just tell me what's happening?" Dillon yelled. The nurses managed to get him out of the room.
"Please try to calm him down." One of the nurses said to Brook Lynn who was now standing behind Dillon. She grabbed ahold of Dillon as the nurses went back in. Brook Lynn pushed Dillon against the wall.
"Get a hold of yourself Dillon! You have to be strong for Georgie. Whatever happens you have to be strong." She said to him. Dillon rested his head against the wall and started crying. Brook Lynn hugged him tightly. "It's going to be okay."
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Dillon sat in the waiting room with Brook Lynn. His eyes felt dry like he couldn't cry anymore. He didn't even know what happened yet he knew that something went wrong.
"I promised her that everything was going to be okay." Dillon said quietly looking straight ahead of him.
"Everything is going to be okay Dillon. You don't know what happened."
"She looked so helpless when I found her in her apartment." Dillon started. "I called 911 and when I hung up she woke up. She was so confused. She didn't even know why she passed out."
"Why did she pass out?" Brook Lynn asked.
"She was bleeding and lost a lot of blood. The doctor said that she's at high risk of losing the baby."
"Dillon, she's not going to lose the baby. She's so strong. She's gonna fight this." Brook Lynn said getting choked up. Dillon ran a hand through his hair and sighed.
"@#%$ this hospital." Dillon said standing up.
"Dillon.."
"I mean why don't they tell us what the hell is going? We've been sitting here for almost an hour and I still don't know what is wrong with Georgie. I mean can't they even just update us a little?" Dillon yelled.
"Dillon I'm sure they're doing the best they can." Brook Lynn said also standing up. She walked over to Dillon and placed her hand on his shoulder. Dillon hugged her. Maxie walked into the waiting room.
"What's going on?" She said her voice shaky. Brook Lynn let go of Dillon and went over to Maxie.
"We don't know anything for sure right now-" Brook Lynn started.
"Just tell me what's happening." Maxie said.
"The doctor said that Georgie's cervix was opening already and that the baby was starting to push out. She's lost a lot of blood too and the doctor said that she was at high risk of losing the baby." Brook Lynn said. Maxie sat down.
"Oh my poor baby sister. She hasn't done anything to deserve this." She said burying her face in her hands. Brook Lynn sat down next to Maxie. She put her arm around her.
"Maxie, everything's going to be okay." Brook Lynn said comforting her. Dillon left the waiting room. He walked by Georgie's room to see if the doctors and nurses were still in there. And they were. He looked through the window to see if he could see Georgie but he couldn't. He saw nurses and doctors hovering around her giving her no space. He walked away from the hospital room and towards the chapel. He walked into the chapel and saw Sage sitting there. She turned to see him and quickly wiped the tears from her face.
"Dillon...what are you doing here?" Sage asked him.
Dillon hesitated. He walked toward her and sat down next to her. "Georgie is in the hospital. She might lose the baby." He said to her not looking directly at her.
"I'm so sorry to hear that." Sage said. "I hope everything turns out okay." She said placing her hand on top of his.
"What are you doing here?" He asked her.
"Uncle Lorenzo has been shot. They don't know if he's going to live." Sage said tears spilling down her face. Dillon turned to face her.
"I'm sorry." Dillon said. He put his arm around Sage and she leaned to rest her head on his shoulder.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Doctor Meadows came out of the Georgie's room. Dillon was waiting right outside with Brook Lynn and Maxie. Dillon walked over to the doctor.
"What-what happened?" Dillon asked her worried.
"I'm sorry Dillon." Dr. Meadows started.
"Sorry? Sorry for what?" Dillon asked even more worried. Brook Lynn and Maxie rushed to his side.
"We lost the baby." Dr. Meadows said quietly.
"You what? You lost the baby?" Dillon backed away from Dr. Meadows not believing what she just said. He leaned against the wall in complete shock. Brook Lynn covered her mouth from crying out loud. Maxie went over to Brook Lynn and hugged her tightly, both of them crying.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Dillon rested his against the bed in which Georgie lay in. He held her hand tightly praying that she would sleep a little longer so he wouldn't have to tell her the horrible news. He didn't know what to say or do. But he knew that he would have to be strong for Georgie. Dillon closed his eyes for a minute and imagined all that could have happened if the baby had lived. The new apartment, new furniture, new toys, new memories.
Georgie squeezed Dillon's hand. He looked up to see her opening her eyes. She looked at him and smiled.
"Hi." She whispered.
"Hey." He said kissing her hand softly. "How you feeling?"
Georgie didn't say anything for a second. "Empty." Georgie said all of a sudden. "Dillon what happened?"
Dillon sat up straight. "Georgie something-"
"Dillon where's my baby?" She said trying to sit up straight. "Where's my baby? What happened?" She said louder.
"Georgie calm down. I'm telling you what happened." Dillon started. Georgie managed to sit up straight. She looked scared and afraid of what Dillon was about to tell her.
"Georgie you...you miscarried." Dillon said straight out. "We lost the baby."
"No, no your lying." She cried, tears bursting out of her eyes. "Your lying." She yelled. Dillon sat on the bed with her.
"I'm not lying Georgie. There were some complications..." Dillon said.
"No, no my baby." She screamed. Dillon grabbed her pulled her towards him. Georgie burried her face in his arms. "My baby.." She cried over and over again.

Chapter 13
Georgie stood on the bridge staring out into the ocean, lost in her own world. She felt lost and empty. She felt like the whole world had been taken away from her. She couldn't cry anymore. All her tears had already come out. She felt like she had no more emotion left in her. She knew she couldn't go on like this forever but she felt that, that's how it would be. That she would never be able to feel again. She had never lost anything that she cherished so much. And this was a precious life. Her cell phone vibrated once again in her purse but she refused to look at it. She was oblivious to her surroundings. Georgie put her hand on her stomach where her baby had once been. She smiled to herself; it almost felt like the baby was still there.
She stood like that for a few minutes until someone interrupted her thoughts. She heard someone take a deep breath behind her. She dropped her hand from her stomach and turned around to see her best friend standing there. "Hey," she said quietly. Dillon walked over to her and stood next to her.
"I'm sorry," she started.
"No hey, I understand." Dillon said. He looked over at her soft face. "I was just worried that's all. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want to bother you. The nurse came and told me that I could go home and I just wanted to go by myself." Georgie said. She pushed a strand of her curly hair behind her ear.
"But G, you wouldn't have been bothering me. I wanted to bring you home."
"I know but I just didn't think you'd really care anymore after all that's happened."
"Not care about you?"
"Yeah I guess." She said looking away. "Besides I needed some time alone anyway."
"Yeah but what do you mean I wouldn't care about you anymore?" Dillon asked confused.
"I know you were only staying with me for the baby Dillon. You know, moving in to the new apartment. It was all for the baby and you said that yourself."
"Yeah and along with that I also said that I care about you. Georgie you're my best friend and I would never just leave you like this. How-how can you even think that?" Dillon said upset.
Georgie turned to face him. "I'm so sorry." She said, liquid emotion filling her eyes. "I'm so sorry." Her voice becoming shaky.
"No, Georgie-"
"This is all my fault. The baby's gone because of me." Georgie said crying. She slid to the ground leaning against the wall of the bridge and burried her face in her hands. Dillon kneeled down next to her.
"Georgie this is not your fault. It happens to a lot of people. You didn't do anything to purposely hurt the baby." Dillon said placing his hand on her shoulder. "This isn't your fault."
Georgie moved her hands. "I just wish that this never happened." She said crying softly. "I want my baby back." Tears spilled down her face.
Dillon took her in his arms. Georgie rested her head against his shoulder and cried. She thought she wouldn't be able to cry anymore but everything came rushing back to her. "I know. I'm sorry it had to happen this way." He brushed her hair with his hand softly and kissed her forehead. He rested his head against her head. He felt so helpless. He wanted to say something to her, do something for her but he didn't know what. After all, he was dealing with the loss of the baby himself. He wanted to blame someone, something, but there was no one to blame. He wanted to find excuses for why this had to happen to him and Georgie but there were none. And most of all he just wanted to make it all better for Georgie. He wasn't even thinking about how he was feeling. All he wanted to do was help her. Make her feel happy again. Although it had only been two days since the miscarriage, he knew that this would go on for awhile.
Dillon wiped the tears from her face. A couple of minutes had gone by and they both didn't realize that were still holding on to each other for dear life. Georgie finally let go of him. She wiped the wetness from her face.
"I'm sorry." She said quickly feeling a little embarassed.
"No look, I'm here for you all right? I wanna help you through this." Dillon said stroking her face softly.
"God, I've been so selfish." Georgie said noticing the tears in Dillon's eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"I'm not the only one who lost a baby Dillon." She said. She put her hand on top of his. "I didn't even ask you, how you're doing."
"Georgie, it was your baby. You have every right to be upset."
"It was yours too." Georgie said. Dillon looked into her eyes and swallowed back his tears. He looked away for a second. One tear fell down his face.
"You know even though I didn't know about this baby for a long time, I still did want it. I think I loved it too." He said quietly. Georgie wiped the tear from his face.
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
"Georgie, I still want to move into that apartment." He said.
"Yeah you do that. It's a nice place." She said.
"But I want to move in it with you." He said slowly. Georgie looked at him confused.
"But why?"
"Because you're my best friend G. And I hate living alone, you know that. I think it would be really fun living together. I mean you can still pay your half of the rent and I'll pay mine."
Georgie smiled. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah I'm sure. Look G, I know you don't like the apartment you have right now. It's so small and you hate living there. And plus in this, we'll both have our own bedrooms and our own bathrooms."
"Okay." She said.
"Yes!" Dillon said hugging her tightly. "This is gonna be great G. I'm telling you." Dillon said standing up. Georgie stood up. Dillon put his arm around Georgie's shoulders and they both walked off the bridge.
~**~**~**~**~**~One Week Later~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Mac and Felicia made their way through the halls of Georgie's apartment building. They both hoped that she was home so that they could talk to her. They knew that if that they called her she would have never let them come over. Felicia brushed her hair back and slowly knocked on Georgie's door. Mac and Felicia waited for a minute before the door flew open with Dillon standing in the doorway.
Dillon looked away for a second upset at what he saw before him. "What can I do for you guys?" He asked rudely.
"You can let us see our daughter." Mac spat right back at him. Felicia smiled politely at Dillon trying to ignore her husband's rudeness. She saw Georgie come to the door from behind Dillon. She didn't look too happy to see them either.
"What do you want?" Georgie asked quietly.
"Look honey, we're really sorry about what happened." Felicia started. Dillon rolled his eyes. "I know we-"
"Mom," Georgie cut her off, "I really don't want to hear this." She stated. "You guys are a week late. And I know you honestly don't even care because if you did, you would have supported me being pregnant from the beginning."
"Georgie we're really sorry." Mac said cutting in.
"I can't listen to this." Dillon said angrily. "I can't hear you apologize to Georgie when you don't mean it. You shut her out of your life because she was carrying an innocent child. And then-then you come a week later after she miscarries. You're own daughter for God's sake?" Dillon said yelling.
"Dillon, it's okay." Georgie started.
"No it's not okay Georgie. How can you forgive them?" Dillon turned to face Mac and Felicia again. "It's not even like she's a young teenage girl or anything. She's a responsible adult and if she didn't want this child she would have done something about it. She didn't need you guys telling her to get rid of it."
"We didn't tell her Dil-"
"Oh come on Felicia. You were telling her to have an abortion. Georgie told me everything."
"I think it'd be best if you guys left now." Georgie said, tears brimming her eyes. "Please."
Mac turned around and walked away. Felicia gave Georgie a sympathetic look and followed Mac out of the building.
Georgie shut the door quietly. She looked over at Dillon who was obviously very pissed.
"Look I'm sorry I blew up like that." Dillon said. He walked over to the sofa and sat down.
"It's okay Dillon. They needed to hear it." Georgie sat down besides him.
"I just I don't understand. I mean, how-how can you just let them walk all over you like that? They're you're freaking parents, how can they tell you to get rid of your baby. How heartless can they be." Dillon said upset. Georgie put her hand his shoulder.
"I'm not gonna forgive them Dillon." She chuckled. "The thing is I don't even understand why they would say that to me." She dropped her hand from his shoulder and gave a humorless laugh. "You know if it was Maxie who was pregnant, they would have been overjoyed. Even if she wasn't married." Georgie just shook her head and smiled. "Whatever, it's all over now and their's no point in thinking about it now." Georgie said staring out in front of her. Dillon put his arm around her and pulled her close.
"I know you're hurting G. But I'm here with you and we're gonna get through this together okay?" Dillon said reassuring her. Georgie looked into his eyes and nodded. She rested her head on his shoulder.
"Thank you." She whispered.

Chapter 14
Jake Bloom set a box full of clothes down in the bedroom that had five other brown cardboard boxes and Georgie's bedroom set. Maxie came behind him and set another box down.
"I didn't realize that Georgie had so many clothes." She commented. "I guess it's because she was pregnant. Poor girl, all those clothes just went to a waste." She said. Jake pulled Maxie close to him.
"I can't wait until the day we can finally start a family." He said to her. He kissed her forehead lightly.
"Why do we have to wait?" She grinned mischievously. She wrapped her arms around his waist.
"We don't." He said smiling. He leaned down to her and planted a soft kiss on her lips.
"All right guys, this is my bedroom and if you want to get it on then go home." Georgie said barging into her new bedroom. She placed another box down.
"Okay we're leaving." Jake said letting Maxie go.
"But thank you very much for helping Dillon and I out today." Georgie said cheerfully. They walked out of the bedroom and into the living room. Dillon and Brook Lynn were sitting on the new couch.
"This is comfortable." Brook Lynn said nodding her head.
"I told you." Dillon said. "I'm always right."
Maxie laughed. "All right, we're gonna head out." She said standing next to her husband. Dillon got up from the couch.
"Thanks guys for helping out." Dillon said to them. Georgie and Dillon walked Maxie and Jake to the door.
"Thanks guys. Bye!" Georgie said. Maxie and Jesse walked out of the new apartment closing the door behind them. Dillon and Georgie plopped down on the sofa next to Brook Lynn.
"Oh I'm so tired." Dillon complained. He put his head back against the sofa. "Thanks for helping Brook." Dillon said putting his arm around her.
"Yeah thanks Brook." Georgie said facing her.
"You're very welcome." She said giving them a big smile. "You guys are my best friends." She started, "it's not like I had a way out of it." She said laughing.
"Oh you're horrible." Georgie said laughing.
"Well I'm gonna go and let you two enjoy your new apartment." Brook said getting up.
"No please stay!" Georgie said practically begging.
"Yeah stay. We ordered some pizza." Dillon said.
"You guys know I'm on a diet. I can't eat pizza." Brook said rolling her eyes.
"Oh yeah I forgot. You need to go back to down to being 90 pounds." Dillon said getting up.
"Shut up Dillon." Brook said hitting him playfully in the arm. She started walking toward the door and Georgie got up and followed her.
"Thanks again Brook. I'll see ya later." She said.
"Yup, bye. Bye Dillon." Brook said peeking over Georgie's shoulder. Dillon just smiled and walked into the kitchen.
The pizza guy showed up behind Brook Lynn. Georgie paid him and took the pizza to the kitchen where Dillon was. She placed the pizza on the table in front of Dillon.
"Oh I'm starving." Dillon said opening the pizza box. Georgie gave him a paper plate and sat across from him.
"I really don't want to unpack." Georgie whined as she took a bite of her pizza.
"Yeah me either." Dillon chewed on his pizza. "Mmm, I have an idea. Why don't we just set up the TV and kick back with a couple of beers and play video games all night." Dillon said smiling.
"Ooh that sounds fun." Georgie said laughing. "Okay how about we unpack for about two hours and then play video games all night?"
"All right sounds good." Dillon said stuffing pizza in his mouth.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Georgie sat on the floor in front of an unopened box. She couldn't decide whether to open it or not. She swallowed hard, tracing her fingers over the opening of the box. She started to tear open the tape then stopped. She stared at the box for a few minutes still unsure of what to do. Tears started brimming her eyes because she knew what was coming if she opened it.
Dillon was about to pass by Georgie’s bedroom but ended up stopping in her doorway. He saw her sitting in front of an unopened box. In an instant he understood what was going on. He didn't know if he should go in and comfort her or let her do this on her own. He watched her for a couple minutes just sitting there. He couldn't take it anymore and went inside.
Dillon came and sat down next to Georgie. "We can do this together." He said to her. He put his hand on top of hers. Georgie turned to face him. A tear slipped down her cheek.
"No you know what, don't worry about it. Um there's no point in opening this box because I was gonna give it away to the Salvation Army or something anyway." Georgie said. She pulled her hand out from under his and stood up. She wiped her tears away.
"Maybe it'll help." Dillon said looking up at her. Georgie looked down at him. She could see that he was only trying to help and if something did happen, she knew that he would be there to comfort her...like always.
She sat back down next to Dillon. She put her hand on the box ready to open it. She slowly pulled the tape off and opened the flaps. Dillon looked down at all the soft colored blankets and stuffed animals. He looked away. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea." Dillon said standing up. He closed his eyes to try to stop the tears from streaming but it didn't help. Georgie slowly took out some of the blankets.
"Obviously I didn't know if it was going to be a girl or a boy. I just went crazy and bought all these different colors just in case." Georgie smiled through her tears. Dillon peered over at her. He shoved his hands in his pockets and watched Georgie. "To be honest though, I secretly wanted a boy. I mean I know most women always want to have a baby girl, but I really wanted a baby boy. He probably would have looked just like you." She said holding a small teddy bear.
"And if it was girl, she would have been just as beautiful as you are." Dillon said quietly. Georgie smiled to herself. She put the stuff back in the box. “I’m sorry. I made you open the box and then I backed out myself.” Dillon said walking towards her.
“It’s okay Dillon. I understand." She closed the box. "I'll just drop this off tomorrow."
"No hey, I'll drop it off." Dillon suggested. "I have to go to work tomorrow anyway."
"I have to go to work too Dillon. And besides, I'm the one who went on a spree and bought all this stuff." She chuckled. She picked up the box and put it in the corner.
"Well uh it looks like you got everything unpacked." Dillon said looking around the room. He finally took his hands out of his pocket. It was a bad habit of his. If he ever felt upset or nervous he would always stick his hands in his pocket. Georgie always made fun of him for it.
Georgie plopped down on her newly made bed. "Yeah I'm pretty much done. I don't like the setting but I guess I can change it later." She said. "What about you? Are you done?"
"Uhh yeah." Dillon laughed. "I'll get it done."
Georgie laughed. She got up and walked over to him. "So are you still up for some beer and video games?" She said nudging him.
"Hmm...are you sure you wanna lose all night?" Dillon said grinning at her.
"You might want to take that comment back." She said walking past him out of her bedroom. Dillon switched the light off in her bedroom and followed her. He put his hands on her shoulders while she lead the way.
"We'll see about that." He whispered into her ear.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Dillon took a sip of his beer. He put the can back down on the coffee table. Even though he should have been paying attention to the hockey game that him and Georgie were playing he couldn't help but get lost in his world. Just an hour ago him and Georgie were crying about the loss of their baby and now they were both half drunk playing a video game. He loved everything thing about his relationship with Georgie. He loved how one second he could grieve with her and the other he could laugh with her. Although they had just been through something really tragic, he felt like the happiest man in the world. He knew that moving in with Georgie was probably the best thing that ever happened to him.
"Oohhh!" Georgie yelled. "Who scored again!" Georgie said rubbing it in his face.
"All right, it's only a point difference. I can still beat you." Dillon said.
"We'll see." Georgie said taking a big gulp of her beer.
"You don't wanna drink too much G." Dillon chuckled. "You might lose." He said nudging her with his shoulder. Georgie shoved him back.
"I won't lose. I drink beer like a man so I'm all good." She grinned. She took another big gulp and faced Dillon.
"All right I have an idea." Dillon said picking up his beer. "Let's see who can finish this first." He smiled mischievously.
"But what if you've already drank more than me?" She asked innocently. Dillon handed her his beer can and Georgie weighed the two cans in the palm of her hands. She gave him his can back.
"All right." She said. "Ready...1,2,3!" Both Dillon and Georgie chugged down their beers. Without stopping to take a breath, they drank it all the way through. Dillon finished first and slammed his can against the coffee table.
"Done." He smiled. Georgie finished seconds after him.
"It's definitely a tie." She whined.
"Nope." Dillon said facing the TV screen again.
"Dillon."
"G."
"Come on."
"You lost fair and square. You're just too girly to drink like a man."
"Nooo." She cried.
"Yesss." Dillon imitated her. Georgie smacked his arm.
"What was that for?"
"For making fun of me." She said angrily.
"I didn't make fun of you." Dillon laughed. "I was just imitating you. I mean you sound so funny right now. I love it when you're drunk."
"You better start running Dillon." Georgie said glaring at him.
"Why?" He asked her still laughing.
"Cuz I'm about to beat you up." She said getting up. Dillon shot up too.
"I didn't do anything." Dillon said not being able to stop laughing.
"That's it Dillon." Georgie said mad. Dillon jumped on the sofa and jumped off to the other side. He ran into the kitchen and Georgie chased after him. Dillon ran out of the kitchen and into Georgie's bedroom. "Get out of my bedroom Dillon!" She yelled. Dillon jumped on to Georgie's bed. Luckily he wasn't wearing his shoes. Georgie jumped on the bed too and pushed him down. Dillon fell flat against the bed and Georgie sat on top of him and punched him in the stomach.
"Ohh," Dillon groaned.
"I may not drink like a man but I can certainly punch like one." She said.
"All right whatever. It's not like I deserved it though. I'll get you back for this." Dillon said still in pain.
"What, you're gonna punch a girl?" Georgie said holding his arms down.
"You're not a girl." Dillon grinned.
"You want another one?"
"No, no okay. You're a girl. A pretty girl. Now get off of me." He said shifting to get out from under her.
"Hmm...I think you like it." Georgie said smiling.
"G, I'm stronger than you. Don't make me use it against you."
"You wouldn't." Georgie said peering her eyes at him.
"Oh yeah." Dillon used his strength to push her hands off of his arm. He tried to sit up and pushed her over on the bed. He sat up straight and said to her, "Don't judge my strength girly. You know I would use it against you." Dillon said laying back down next to her.
"Whatever." Georgie said. She moved closer to him. "You know as much as I hate you Dillon, I still love you." She said smiling.
"I see. So just now when you were trying to kill me, it was all out of love?" Dillon smiled.
Georgie laughed. "Shut up. I wasn't trying to kill you." She said.
"Come here." Dillon said lifting his arm. Georgie moved even closer and rested her head against Dillon's chest.
"I love you too Georgie. I always will." Dillon said resting his head against Georgie's. He kissed her forehead lightly. Georgie closed her eyes and snuggled against him. At that moment, all these feelings came rushing back to Dillon. The same feelings that he had a few months ago about Georgie. When he thought he was falling her but didn't actually think so because he was still upset about Sage. He didn't know what to think of it. He knew that nothing more could ever happen between him and Georgie other than friendship. It had always been that way and to him it seemed like it always would be. He didn't want lose Georgie as a friend even if it meant that he couldn't share his true feelings.
He looked down at Georgie who was fast asleep. She had one arm wrapped around his waist and her head was resting against his chest. Dillon closed his eyes and tried to enjoy the moment.

Chapter 15
Georgie lie awake in her bed staring up at the ceiling. She started work again that day and she was incredibly tired yet she couldn't seem to fall asleep. She looked over at the alarm clock on her side table. It read 12:30. She sighed and thought about what she could do to make herself go to sleep. She had to go to work again the next morning even though Ned insisted that she take it easy. But Georgie refused. She really wanted to get back on her feet (even though being a secretary, there wasn't a lot of foot action). She looked over at the clock again. This time it read 12:32.
Georgie wondered if Dillon was still awake. When she got home he was still up and they had both went to bed around the same time. But then again that was about two hours ago. "Dillon!" She screamed giving it a shot.
"What!?" Dillon screamed back from his room. Georgie smiled to herself. She sat up in her bed.
"You still awake?" She yelled across the apartment.
"Well I wouldn't be yelling if I was asleep." Dillon yelled back.
"I can't sleep." Georgie screamed again.
"You wanna come over here so we don't have to yell across the damn apartment?" Dillon yelled once again. Georgie smiled again and got off her bed. She slid her feet into her slippers and ran down the hallway to Dillon's bedroom. She stood in his doorway as he looked up at her. "What did you say?" He asked her calmly.
"I said I can't sleep." Georgie frowned.
"Why not?" Dillon asked getting up.
"I don't know. I mean I'm really tired but I just can't fall asleep. I've been lying around in bed for like an hour." She said still standing in the doorway.
Dillon laughed to himself. "Come here." He said motioning his head towards the bed. Georgie smiled and walked over to his bed. She took her slippers off and jumped in next to him. Dillon laid back down and Georgie laid down next to him.
"So why are you still awake?" Georgie asked him.
"I don't know. I was just thinking about stuff. I didn't even realize it was this late already." Dillon said.
"So what were you thinking about?" Georgie pushed.
"Stuff...that I'm not going to tell you." Dillon smirked. Georgie smiled but didn't say anything. "So how was your first day back?" Dillon asked her.
"Good. Ned's not giving me a lot of work to do even though I'm telling him to. It's not like I have to run around the office or anything you know? But he keeps telling me to stay home and take a longer break." Georgie said turning to face Dillon.
"Do you want to take a longer break?" Dillon said turning his head towards her.
"Nope. I'd rather be working then sitting at home doing nothing. I mean there's no point in just lying around all day and being useless. I'd rather be working." Georgie said.
"Dude, if I could take a break, I sooo would." Dillon said smiling.
"Well that's the difference between me and you." Georgie said. "Now help me fall asleep." She said pulling the covers up to her chin.
"Don't be stealing all of the blanket now." Dillon said pulling the blanket.
"What kind of gentleman are you?" Georgie said jokingly.
"I'm not." Dillon said moving closer to her. Georgie closed her eyes. Dillon wondered to himself how she felt about him. He knew that she started loving him in that way before she became pregnant and before he left for California. But he wondered if she still felt that way. He knew he hurt by leaving so suddenly but he was so confused at the time about his feelings for her. But now he knew for sure that it wasn't him being upset about Sage. He knew that his feelings were real.

Dillon walked into Kelly's and straight up to the counter. Mike was pouring coffee into one of the white cups. "Hey Mike. Could I get some of that too?" Dillon asked sitting down on one of the stools.
"Sure thing kid." Mike said putting down the cup and picking up another. Mike poured the black coffee into the cup and handed it to Dillon. Dillon put some cream and sugar in it and began to mix it. Dillon felt someone come and sit down next to him but didn't bother to look up. He lifted his cup to start drinking but was interrupted.
"Hey Dillon." Sage said looking at him. Dillon put his cup back down and looked over at Sage. She took her jacket off and put it in her lap.
"Hey, how are you? Haven't seen you in like weeks..." Dillon said taking a sip of his coffee.
"Yeah I've been at home mostly. Uncle Lorenzo needs all the help he can get. I'm just thankful that he's still alive." Sage said with a smile.
"I'm glad to hear that." Dillon said nodding.
"Um hey listen. I heard about Georgie." Sage started. Dillon looked away and took another sip of his coffee. "Dillon I'm really sorry about what happened." Sage looked at him with concern. Even after all that happened she still felt for him and she could sense his pain. "If there's anything I can do..." She said placing her and on his arm.
"No it's okay. Thank you." Dillon said finally getting the courage to look at her again. "It's just been really hard you know. I mean especially for Georgie. She's just heartbroken and I don't know what to do to help her. I mean it's been about two weeks but she's still really shaken up. So am I."
"It'll take some time. Just take it easy."
"Yeah that's what I keep telling myself. But I think I'm gonna get over it faster than Georgie is. I can tell she's really hurt and upset. She's trying to hide it from me so I don't worry about her." Dillon chuckled. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "I just wish it never happened. I mean why us? What did we do to deserve this?" Dillon said shaking his head.
Sage rubbed his arm. "I really wish I could say something to make you feel better." Sage said.
"Nah. It's okay. What needed to be said has already been said by everyone. Thanks...for listening." Dillon said putting his hand on top of hers.
"Dillon I know I shouldn't bring this up but-but I'm really sorry about everything. Your baby...us..." Sage said drifting off. Dillon moved his hand from on top of hers.
"I know." Dillon said looking away. Sage felt like a whole ton had been lifted off her shoulders.
"Are you serious?"
"I know you're sorry Sage. I still can't forgive you for what you did but...but I don't want to lose you as a friend." Dillon said looking up at her again.
"I don't deserve to be forgiven Dillon. Just you talking to me is perfect. Thank you." Sage said sincerely.
Dillon just nodded his head. "Well I gotta get to work. I'm kinda running late." Dillon said getting up. Sage got up too and put her blazer on. Dillon reached over and hugged her tightly. Sage wrapped her arms around Dillon's neck and closed her eyes letting the emotions sink in.
~**~**~**~**~
Georgie walked from the parking lot to Kelly's. She had an hour before she had to get to work and thought she should grab something to eat. She wore black dress shirt with gray pants and black heels. She ran a hand through her straight hair. She felt like dressing up today...like a secretary. Since her miscarriage she was dressing down like she used to before. She was wearing old t-shirts and jeans. Ned didn't show that he minded but she knew he did. She thought she would surprise him and the office today.
She finally reached Kelly's and was about to open the door when she stopped dead in her tracks. She looked through the window only to see her best friend in the arms of his ex-lover. Dillon's face was burried in Sage's neck and he had his arm wrapped around her so tightly that it was almost like they were together again.

Chapter 16
Georgie watched through the door as Dillon slowly slipped his hands away from Sage's hips. Dillon turned around to ask Mike for another cup of coffee while Sage made her way to the entrance of Kelly's. Georgie stayed outside and sat down at one of the round tables. She ran a hand through her straight hair and sighed heavily. Sage walked through the doors and noticed Georgie sitting there. She debated whether she should say hi or not. The nice of part of Sage won.
"Hey Georgie." Sage said standing next to the table.
Georgie looked up and gave a fake smile. "Hey."
"Uh I'm really sorry about your loss. If there's anything I could do..." Sage said genuinely.
"Thanks Sage. But I'm doing okay." Georgie said standing up. Dillon barged through the doors of Kelly's, coffee in one hand and a jacket in the other and saw them both standing there. He stopped where he was and looked a little suprised.
"Hey Georgie." He said quickly looking back and forth between Sage and Georgie. "Is everything okay?" He said slowly.
"Yeah I was just leaving." Georgie said grabbing her purse off the table.
"Wait, can we talk for a second?" Dillon asked her.
"Umm I'm really running late Dillon. I'll talk to you later okay?" Georgie said putting her coat on.
"Georgie what's wrong?" Dillon asked concerned about her.
"Nothing. I gotta go." Georgie said rushing off.
Dillon shrugged, unsure of what just happened. "Did you say something to her?" He asked Sage.
"No, I was saying sorry to her about the loss of her baby." Sage said.
"That was weird." Dillon said upset. "Anyways I gotta go. I'll talk to you later." Dillon said starting to leave.
"Dillon." Sage called out to him. Dillon turned around. "You wanna go out for lunch later?" She asked him.
Dillon looked around and then back at her. "I forgave you Sage. But that doesn't mean I'm ready to start dating you again." He said. He gave a sympathetic smile and walked away.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
It was almost one o'clock in the afternoon and Kelly's hadn't been more busier. Georgie walked in trying to aviod the rush. She was lucky enough to find a table. Penny, the waitress, came up to her.
"Hey, would you like something?" She asked sweetly.
"Yeah just a house salad with ranch dressing. Thanks." Georgie replied. Penny left to get her order. Georgie sighed to herself. She didn't feel like going back to work. Ned said he would go easy on her but he was doing the complete opposite. She had so many papers to file. Her head was spinning and couldn't help but take a break.
Penny came back with Georgie's salad. "Thank you." Georgie said to her. She picked up her fork and poked some lettuce. She ate slowly so she wouldn't have to go back to ELQ too soon.
Georgie was almost done with her salad when she looked up to see Sage walk in. Sage saw Georgie and came over to her.
"Mind if I sit down?" Sage asked her. Georgie sighed and then agreed.
"Sure." She said. "What's up?"
"I was just wondering why you ran off like that this morning? That wasn't fair to Dillon." Sage said.
"I'm gonna see Dillon tonight anyway Sage. We live together." Georgie said wondering why Sage cared.
"But why'd you do that?" Sage said prying into Georgie's business.
"Because I was running late Sage. And like I said before, I'm gonna see him at home anyway." Georgie said a little annoyed.
"Was it because I was there?" Sage asked.
Georgie looked up and glared at Sage. "Maybe it was Sage. Why do you care so much?"
"Because I saw the hurt look in Dillon's eyes when you walked away from him, that's why." Sage said rudely.
"You don't know anything about the way Dillon hurts Sage. And I would never do anything to deliberately hurt him." Georgie spat back at her.
Sage sat back against the chair and crossed her arms against her chest. "What is with you Georgie? He gave up his whole life to live with you and take care of you. You can't even spare him two minutes?" Sage said pushing Georgie.
"You have no right to talk about my personal life with Dillon. Especially after what you did to him. You don't deserve him or his forgiveness."
"Face it Georgie. Dillon and I are going to get back together and you're just jealous."
Georgie smirked. "You know for a second, this morning I actually thought you had some sympathy in you. But I was wrong. This is all just a game to you. Dillon is hurting right now because he also lost a child and you're using it to your advantage. You're sick." Georgie got up from her chair, grabbed her purse and coat and walked out of Kelly's.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Dillon sat on the couch of his living room reading a client's financial statement. It was suprising to him sometimes how people spent their money. Dillon was the best accountant in his firm. Many clients were referred to him and he would end being stuck with an overloading amount of work. He set the papers down for a minute to take a breath of air. He rested his head against the back of the sofa and closed his eyes for second. His phone started ringing. Dillon cursed under his breath and reached over the coffee table to get to his phone. It was Sage's number. Dillon debated whether he should answer it or not.
"Hey Sage." He sighed.
"Hey. I called your work phone but you didn't pick up." She stated.
"That's because I'm home. I came back early. I didn't feel like sitting in the office." Dillon told her.
"Oh okay. Can I just talk to you for like five minutes? Unless your busy..." Sage asked. Dillon looked at his watch. He could spare five minutes.
"What's up?"
"I ran into Georgie again today at Kelly's." She started.
"Did something happen?" He asked a little worried.
"No we just got into an arguement."
"About what?"
"I don't know what's wrong with her today Dillon. I mean I was only being nice saying sorry to her and asking if she needed anything from me. But she completely turned on me and accused me of faking it." Sage said sounding upset. "I know she's grieving for her baby but I was only trying to be nice."
"I-I know. Listen, I'll talk to her when she gets home tonight all right?" Dillon said to her.
"Dillon I didn't want to start anything but I thought I should tell you. She was just being so rude and I didn't even do anything. Why is she taking her anger out on me?"
"I'm sorry. Look I'll talk to her okay?"
"Okay thanks." Sage said. "I gotta go."
"Alright, bye." Dillon said hanging up. Dillon sighed heavily. He knew Sage and Georgie never got along but it wasn't right of Georgie to be rude like that to Sage when she was only offering her condolences.
Dillon picked up the papers again trying to go over them but he couldn't. He mind was elsewhere. He couldn't understand why Georgie would go off like that on Sage. Dillon heard the apartment door open and he turned to see Georgie walk in.
"Hey." She said closing the door behind her. Dillon didn't respond to her. He didn't know why, but he was really mad at her. She placed her coat and briefcase on the kitchen table. She went over to the refrigerator and got out a bottle of water and gulped it down. She didn't realize how thirsty she had been.
"I had to get out of there. Ned was just piling up so much work on me today. I told him I needed to get home." Georgie said taking another sip of her water.
Dillon got up from where he was sitting and went over to the kitchen. "Can we talk?" He asked not making eye contact with her.
"What's wrong?" Georgie could tell by the tone of his voice that something was going on.
"It's about Sage..." Dillon started. Georgie looked at him confused. "She called me earlier. Did you see her today?" Dillon asked finally looking at her. Georgie could tell Dillon was angry and knew not to get in his way when he was angry...but it didn't look like she had a way out this time. Even though she didn't feel she did anything wrong.
"Yeah I was having lunch today at Kelly's and she came and sat down with me. She was-"
"Georgie." Dillon cut her off. "Sage told me what happened. Why would you go off on her like that?" Dillon asked angrily.
"Because she was telling me-" Georgie started but then was cut off by Dillon again.
"Sage was only offering you her condolences."
"Okay...but then she-"
"I don't wanna hear it Georgie. I know you and Sage don't along but you have no right to accuse her of pretending. I know Sage better than anyone else and she can be really genuine when she wants."
Georgie couldn't believe what she was hearing. She stared at Dillon in disbelief. "I don't understand Dillon, why would she-"
"Just-you know what. Forget it." Dillon said cutting her off yet again. He grabbed his jacket from the closet and headed towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Georgie asked him.
"I don't know. But I can't be around you right now." Dillon said. He opened the door and and slammed it behind him.
Georgie slid down to the kitchen floor unsure of what just happened. Her eyes became misty and slowly filled up with liquid. She couldn't figure out why he was so mad at her when she hadn't done anything wrong. Dillon and her had gotten into fights before but not like this. She couldn't believe after all that Sage had done to him, he still believed every word that she said.
~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~
Dillon didn't know how he ended up there...but he did. He impatiently waited outside of Sage's apartment. His apartment. He stared at the door for a few minutes deciding if he should leave or knock on the door. Before he could even make up his mind the door flew upon and there stood a very suprised Sage.
"Dillon!" Sage yelped. "Oh God you scared me." She said putting her hand on her chest.
"Sorry I didn't mean to." Dillon said scratching the back of his head.
"What are you doing here?" She asked him.
"Uh I don't really know. I just happened to end up here and I was actually not gonna come in but-are you going somewhere?" Dillon asked her.
"No, no come in." Sage said moving our of the way. Dillon walked into his old apartment. Everything was the way he had left it. Sage hadn't moved anything around.
Sage set her purse down on the kitchen table. She went into the living room where Dillon was. "Is everything okay Dillon?"
"I talked to Georgie." Dillon started.
"Look Dillon, I-"
"I walked out on her." Dillon said. "I yelled at her and I told her she was wrong for what she did and I left." Dillon said looking at her. He moved closer to her. "Maybe I was a little harsh on her but what she did was wrong and I'm sorry. She had no right to accuse you of anything. I know I'm making it out to be a big deal but you didn't do anything wrong." Dillon rambled on.
"It's okay. Thank you for defending me." Sage said relieved. "But you could have just called me or something. You didn't have to come all the way here."
"I don't know how I ended up here Sage. I was just out driving and somehow I was standing outside your apartment. Our apartment." Dillon said. He looked her in the eye and moved closer. They were standing only a few inches apart. Dillon wanted to say something but he didn't know what. He didn't why he was there or what he wanted. He just did what his mind was telling him too. He pushed a few strands of hair back behind Sage's ear. Sage nudged her face against Dillon's hand. Dillon was so close to her he could feel her light breathing. He inched his mouth towards her and slowly collided with her lips. He kissed her softly letting his lips brush over hers. He put both his hands on her neck and started kissing her more passionately. She kissed him back with more intensity. Sage pushed Dillon's jacket off. She put her hands on his waist and pulled him closer. Dillon and Sage moved towards the bedroom still kissing each other. Dillon pulled off Sage's shirt, merely removing his lips from hers. Sage pulled open the buttons on his shirt and pushed the shirt off. She lyed back down on the bed and Dillon fell on top of her. Sage reached over to the lamp and turned the light off.

Chapter 17
Dillon rummaged his hands through Sage’s hair wildly. He kissed her passionately slipping his tongue every now and then. All the while it hadn’t occurred to him until that very instant…what the hell was he doing? Dillon suddenly stopped kissing Sage. He crawled off of her and stood up. Sage looked at him surprised. She sat up on the bed and gave him curious looks. Dillon ran both hands through his hair.
“I’m sorry…” He started. “I can’t-I can’t do this.” He said picking up his shirt from the floor. He picked up Sage’s as well and threw it in her lap.
“Why, what’s wrong?” Sage said holding her shirt up to her bare chest.
“I’m sorry. I know I started this but I can’t finish it. Sage it’s wrong in every way possible. I promised myself I wouldn’t come back to you. I just can’t keep getting hurt by you.” Dillon put his shirt on and slowly buttoned it up.
Sage put her shirt down on the bed and stood up in front of Dillon. “You still love me. I know you do.” She told him. “Why do you keep fighting it?”
“Because I know what’s going to happen in the end Sage. Yes I love you. And I probably will for a long time. But I don’t want to be with you anymore.” Dillon said moving away from her. He walked out into the living room.
“Then why did you come here? Why did you start this?” Sage asked him following him.
“I don’t know. I thought this is what I wanted but it’s not. Look I’m really sorry. But I can’t do this anymore.” Dillon put his jacket on and walked towards the door.
“Don’t go Dillon.” Sage said to him. “Please.” She said tears brimming her eyes.
“You made a mistake Sage. And you can’t take it back. And I’m not willing to forgive you. I’m sorry.” Dillon opened the door slowly and walked out closing it behind him.
Sage wiped the tears from her eyes. She wasn’t done messing with Georgie or Dillon yet.
~*~
Georgie sat at her kitchen table drinking coffee. She still didn’t know what had just happened between her and Dillon. She clearly recalled Sage being the one who was “rude” to her. But maybe Dillon thought otherwise. And how did he find out anyways? She for sure hadn’t told him. Georgie took a long sip of her coffee. She needed her best friend right now. Someone she could talk to about anything. Someone she could run to even if it was a mere problem. Dillon had always been that someone but ever since she had the one night stand with him things had changed. She had promised herself to never fall in love with him but she had. After she became pregnant and Dillon left she stopped thinking about him and those feelings went away. But slowly they were returning and there was nothing she could do to stop them. The front door opened interrupting her thoughts. She looked over to see Dillon walk in.
Dillon closed the door and made his way to the kitchen. He sat down in front of her and swallowed hard. He didn’t know where to start. “I’m just coming from Sage’s.” He said. Georgie looked up at him. “I almost slept with her tonight Georgie.”
Georgie shook her head and looked away from him.
Dillon rubbed his face and then looked at her. “I’m sorry for going off on you like that. It was not my place. But what you said to Sage wasn’t right.”
“What I said to Sage? You have no idea what I said to her. And you have no idea what she said to me.” Georgie said angry and crying at the same time. Tears ran down her face one at a time. “How did you find out anyway?”
“She called me. She told me that you didn’t actually think she meant anything she was saying. She was only being nice Georgie.” Dillon said leaning in towards her. Georgie glared at him and shook her head. She stood up suddenly and turned her back to him.
“Dillon you weren’t there. You don’t know what happened.” She turned back around to face him. “You wanna know what she said to me? Huh? You want to know exactly what she said to me?”
“Georgie-“
“No let me tell you.” Georgie said angrily and her voice shaky from crying. “She was telling me that I hurt you by not staying to listen to what you had to say this morning. So I told her that she doesn’t know anything about the way you hurt.” Georgie wiped the tears from her face. “I told her that I would never do anything to deliberately hurt you. And then she started telling me that you gave up your whole life to be with me and to take care of me. And then she said that you and her were going to get back together and that I was just jealous. So I told her that I actually thought she felt bad for me. That she actually might have some sympathy in her but I was wrong. I told her that she was only using my loss to get back with you.” Georgie stared at Dillon for a second and nodded. “So yeah. I did accuse her of faking it Dillon. But guess what? I don’t regret it.” Georgie walked away from him and into the living room. She paced around trying to calm herself down. Dillon came in seconds later.
“I’m sorry this had to happen.” He started. “I didn’t know-“
“Oh come on Dillon!” She yelled at him. “How could you? How could you take her word over mine? Your best friend! Me, remember? Georgie!” She paused for a moment, “After everything she has done to you, you still believe her?”
“Georgie I’m sorry.”
“Well sorry is not gonna cut it Dillon.”
“Then what do you want me to say?” Dillon yelled at her.
“Nothing. You know what nothing.” Georgie said shaking her head. She walked towards the door and opened. She walked out slamming it behind her.
~*~
Georgie walked through the elevator doors of General Hospital. She went and sat down on one of the maroon sofas. She rested her head back and prayed that either Maxie or Bobbie would show up.
“Miss Jones, hi.” Georgie heard Dr. Meadows call out. She looked up at her and gave her a warm smile.
“Hi Dr. Meadows. How are you?” She asked standing up.
“I’m doing just fine. What about you?” Dr. Meadows asked her.
“I’m doing…okay.” Georgie said. “Um I was wondering if you have my test results yet. I meant to ask like a week ago but I was just busy.” Georgie said to her.
“Yes I do. Why don’t we go into my office.” Dr. Meadows said to her.
“Sure.” Georgie said smiling. She followed Dr. Meadows into her office. They both took a seat and adjusted themselves. Dr. Meadows took out a manila folder with papers in it even though she didn’t need it. She opened it up and then looked at Georgie.
“So…?” Georgie asked her. “Will I be able to have children again?”
Dr. Meadows looked down and then back up at Georgie again. “I’m sorry Georgie.”

Chapter 17
Georgie slowly woke up from her deep sleep. She was in a room above Kelly’s. She came there the previous night and Mike was nice enough to let her stay on such a short notice. She had gone back to the apartment to get her clothes and lucky her, Dillon was already asleep.
She got out of the bed lazily and made her way to the bathroom. She ripped her pajamas off and turned the hot water on in the shower. She jumped in and stood there for five minutes with her eyes closed. Everything is such a mess, she thought to herself. When will my life be normal again??
Georgie finally got out of the shower an hour later. She was already late to work but didn’t care too much. Ned would probably be upset with her but she was in a horrible mood already and could careless what anyone was thinking. Standing in nothing but a towel she looked at herself in the mirror. She finally lost the bump from her stomach. As soon as she lost the baby she began working out here and there. She was glad she had her flat stomach again but secretly she still wished her tummy was a little bigger.
She turned around and picked up her duffel bag from the ground and placed it on the bed. She opened it up and rummaged through it to find something to wear. She didn’t know what she dumped in it last night. She didn’t want to stay in the apartment too long…what if Dillon had woken up?
She pulled out a black, ruffled, knee-length skirt. She found a black tank top to go with it. She knew it was cold outside but she felt like wearing a skirt. Almost all the other girls at ELQ wore skirts except for her. Georgie hated wearing skirts before but now she felt more like a girl. She brushed her hair out and left it down straight. She put on her heeled boots that she had worn the day before and made her way downstairs to get some breakfast.
It wasn’t that busy at Kelly’s that morning. She greeted Mike who was behind the counter with a big smile. “Good morning!” She said cheerfully. Even though she wasn’t in that great of a mood, Mike deserved a nice greeting.
“Good morning to you too. Can I get ya something?” Mike asked leaning over the counter.
“Umm how about a plain bagel with some coffee?” Georgie asked him.
“Comin’ right up.” Mike said smiling. He walked away from the counter and to the kitchen in the back. Georgie turned around to see if anyone she knew was there but she had no such luck. She looked towards the entrance when the door opened and in came Diego.
“Damn it’s cold outside.” He muttered to himself. He took his coat off and hung it up on the rack. He saw Georgie and smiled at her coming towards her. “Hey you! Haven’t seen you in the longest time.” Georgie got up and gave him a tight hug. He wrapped his arms around her small waist.
“It’s good to see you again Diego.” She said finally letting ago. She sat back down.
“How you been?” He said sitting down next to her. Georgie gave him a warm smile.
“I’m doing all right. How about you?”
“I’m doing great. I just got a promotion. You are now looking at the new vice president of PNC.” Diego said pointing at himself.
“Wow! That’s awesome news! Aw I’m so happy for you!” Georgie said happily.
“Yup. The new vice president at the Port Charles PNC bank. I’m really excited. Today’s my first day.” Diego said.
“That’s great. I’m really happy for you.” Georgie said. Mike came back out from the kitchen with Georgie’s bagel.
“Here you are.” He said placing it in front of her. “I’ll be right back with your coffee.” Mike said. “Hey Diego, you want anything?”
“Just a coffee. Thanks.” Diego said. Mike smiled and turned to get them their coffee.
“Hey I heard about…you know.” Diego said looking at Georgie. She looked up at him. He looked genuinely sorry; he didn’t have to say anything. “I’m really sorry.” He said anyway.
“Yeah me too.” She whispered.
“How you holding up?”
“All right. It gets better everyday. But I just feel like a part of me is missing now.” Georgie said playing with her bagel.
“How’s Dillon doing?” Diego asked her.
Georgie shrugged. “He doesn’t like to talk about it much but I know he’s hurting too even he didn’t know about long.”
“Wait what do you mean he didn’t know about it long?” Diego asked confused.
Georgie smirked. “Dillon and I had a one night stand Diego. I think I failed to mention that to you when I told you that I was pregnant. And he only knew about it for a month and then I miscarried. I can’t believe it’s almost been a month.” She said looking over at him.
“Damn.” Diego said looking away.
“What?” Georgie asked him.
“The night when Dillon came back for LA, I saw him at Jake’s. And I told him congratulations and that I didn’t even know you guys were together. He did look confused but I just walked away. Sorry.” Diego said laughing it off.
“Well it’s all over now so it doesn’t matter. I highly doubt Dillon and I will ever be together.” Georgie said upset.
“What do you mean?” Diego said shifting his body to face her.
She shook her head. “Dillon is so hung up over Sage. It’s ridiculous. I know she’s your cousin and all but I can’t stand her.” Georgie said angrily. “She’s just so ugh.”
“Hey I understand. I can’t stand her sometimes either and I know you and her have some stuff going on. Look whatever it is going on between you and Dillon, I hope it turns okay.” Diego said.
“Thanks.” Georgie said smiling. “I gotta get going. I’m already late to work.” Georgie said standing up. “So much for eating this bagel.” She laughed.
Diego laughed too. He got up and called out to Mike, “Thanks for the coffee Mike!” He turned to Georgie. “It was nice catching up with you. If you ever need someone to talk to, you know I’m here.” He said putting his hand on her shoulder. Georgie hugged him again quickly and whispered, “Thanks.” She pulled back and let him go. Diego grabbed his coffee and his jacket and left Kelly’s.
“He’s a great guy.” She said.
“Diego? He’s a wonderful young man.” Mike said surprising Georgie. She smiled at him.
“We used to be really good friends in high school. Sometimes Dillon would get so jealous.” She laughed. “Thanks for the coffee Mike.” She said picking it up off the counter.
“You’re welcome.” Mike said. Georgie went back upstairs to her room. She placed her coffee on the side table. She stood there for a few minutes thinking to herself. All morning she was feeling sorry for herself and she wanted to stop but couldn’t. She hated the way her life was going right now. Everything was screwed up and there wasn’t a damn thing she could do about it.
She sighed heavily and turned around. To her surprise she saw Dillon standing in the doorway. She jumped a little when she saw. “Dillon.” She said very surprised.
“Hi.” He said rubbing the back of his head.
“You’re nervous…” She said.
“What? How do you know?” Dillon said giving an awkward smile.
“Because whenever you’re nervous you rub the back of your head and sometimes you even smile…weirdly like you’re doing right now.” Georgie said. Dillon dropped his hand quickly.
“Well I guess I am kind of nervous right now.” Dillon said. “Look I just want to talk with you. Can you hear me out? Please?” Dillon asked.
“I’m running late Dillon. I have to get to work…”
“I called Ned this morning.”
“For what?” Georgie asked confused.
“To see if you were there…and he said no. So that’s why I came here.”
“Was he mad?”
“No.”
“How did you know I was here?”
“Lucky guess.”
“Can we talk later?”
“No.” Dillon paused, “Georgie stop pushing this back. You can’t keep avoiding me.”
Georgie looked at him and he looked like he was really sorry. Dillon moved closer to her. “Can you please just listen to me?”
“Okay.” Georgie said sitting on the bed. “Shoot.” Dillon leaned down on his knees in front of her.
“Look, I am truly, truly sorry for everything that I said to you. I’m sorry that I believed Sage over you and I’m sorry I didn’t even get a chance to let you talk. I’m sorry for having such a big temper problem.” He put his hands on the side of her. “Georgie, you’re my best friend and I hate it when we fight and I especially hate it when it’s my fault.”
“It’s always you’re fault Dillon.” Georgie said finally looking at him.
“I know. But this was really big. G, I’m really, really, really sorry. Please forgive me.”
“Are you over Sage?” Georgie asked. “Because if you’re going to go back to her Dillon then I don’t know if I can be friends with you still. And I know that’s not nice of me but obviously I see a different side of her and I just don’t want to have anything to do with her.” Georgie said looking at him in the eye.
“I’m done with her.” Dillon said.
“That’s what you said last time.”
“Georgie I’m not gonna get back together with her. I didn’t get back together with her. I was about to sleep with her but that was because I wasn’t thinking straight and I was just…I don’t know what was wrong with me. And I stopped. I stopped…that has to count for something right?”
“Dillon you have gone back to her so many times. What makes this any different?”
“Because this time she hurt you.” Dillon started looking up at Georgie. Georgie looked in his eyes and it looked like someone had ripped his heart out. “And I can’t forgive her for that.” He finished.

Chapter 19
Georgie stared at Dillon trying to take in the words that were coming out of his mouth. He took her hands in his and put them in her lap.
“I care about you so much Georgie. I would never intentionally hurt you.” Dillon said caressing his thumb on her hand. Georgie looked down trying to think of something to say. But the only thing that was crossing her mind was to tell him how she was really feeling about him.
“Georgie,” Dillon started. Georgie looked at him in the eye. “I care about you so much more than just a friend. I don’t know why. I don’t know when it started. Maybe since the first time we slept together or-or maybe when I left. The whole time when I was in LA, the only thing I could think about you.”
Georgie was left speechless. He had stolen the words that she wanted to say. “Dillon I-“
“Wait, let me finish.” He said. He moved up to the bed and sat down next to her still holding her hands. “I know right before we slept together I practically said the same thing. And you probably don’t even believe a single word that’s coming out of my mouth right now. I really care about you. I can’t explain it but it’s just this feeling that’s there and it keeps growing and it’s all about you. Even then I cared about you Georgie. I didn’t want to believe it and I kept denying it. But I can’t anymore.” He touched her cheek softly and caressed it.
“Wow,” was all Georgie managed to say.
“I know I don’t even make sense right now. I know I said I still loved Sage and that I probably would for a long time. But there’s something that I came to realize. I care about you more than I love Sage. There’s no word…no word for how I feel about you.” Dillon said moving closer to Georgie. Georgie raised her hand and touched his face. She leaned in towards him brushing his lips with her thumb. Dillon looked at her lips moving in closer until they were only a breath apart. He finally touched her lips with his softly kissing her. She kissed him back putting her other hand on his face. Dillon’s tongue flicked her lips tasting her strawberry flavored lip gloss. Georgie pulled away slowly not moving her hand from his face. “Will you come home with me?” Dillon whispered, his breath still hot, the taste of her lips still lingering in his mouth. He looked up into eyes that were staring back at him. He pushed a strand of her hair back behind her ear. Georgie simply nodded at him. Dillon pulled her into another short kiss and hugged her tightly burying his face into her neck.
~*~
Georgie and Dillon both ended up not going to work that day. They went back to their apartment and relaxed for the rest of the day with each other. It was almost eleven at night. Dillon and Georgie sat on their couch with the TV turned on. Dillon’s arm was around her shoulders and she was leaning into him resting her head on his chest right under his head.
“I don’t wanna go to work tomorrow.” Georgie murmured.
Dillon chuckled. “You didn’t go today either.”
“I know but I’m just so bored with it. It’s the same work every day.”
“Well you are a secretary.” Dillon said laughing.
“True. Well at least the pay’s good right?”
“That’s all that matters.” Dillon said kissing Georgie’s head. Georgie smiled to herself. There was no where else she would rather be right now but she knew she had to get up if she wanted to wake up the next morning. She moved Dillon’s arm from her shoulders and Dillon gave her an upset look. “Where are you going?” He said in a tone that made her want to kiss him all over.
Georgie gave him a big smile and leaned over to kiss him on the lips. “To bed,” she whispered. “You wanna walk me?” She said motioning her head towards the hallway. Dillon smiled at her and got up from the couch. Georgie stood up and held his hand. Dillon turned off the TV with the remote and dropped it on the sofa. Georgie and Dillon made their way to her bedroom and stopped in front of her door. Georgie leaned in again to kiss him lightly. “Good night,” she whispered.
Dillon kissed her again and whispered, “Good night,” back to her. He let her hand go and started walking towards his room. Georgie watched for a couple of seconds before calling out to him.
“Dillon.” She said. Dillon turned around to look at her. “Will you stay with me until I fall asleep?” Dillon grinned widely at her and walked back to her. She grabbed his hand and led him into her room and toward the bed. She pulled the covers back and got into her bed, Dillon following her. Dillon rested against the headboard and Georgie lied down against him. He brushed his fingers up and down her bare arm.
“Can I ask you something?” Dillon asked resting his head against Georgie’s. “Or actually I wanna tell you something.” Dillon chuckled.
“What?” Georgie grinned. Dillon shifted himself so he could face Georgie. She looked up at him. “What is it?”
Dillon looked straight into her eyes. “I love you.” He paused to see Georgie’s reaction which was a surprise. “I love you but it’s not just as a friend anymore. It’s more than that.”
Georgie turned around to face him completely and leaned over to kiss him. She crashed her lips against his hard leaving Dillon completely surprised. She put her hands on his neck and kissed him harder. Dillon kissed her back with the same amount of passion wrapping his arms around her waist. Georgie laid down pulling Dillon on top of her while still kissing him. Dillon let his tongue flow into her mouth freely finally colliding with hers. They both fully knew what the next step was. Dillon pulled away slowly. “Georgie,” he said out of breath. “Are you sure you wanna do this? No regrets?”
“No regrets,” Georgie whispered. She grabbed his head and pulled him back to her kissing him. Dillon let his hands wander up her shirt massaging her soft skin. With every touch, Georgie’s heart fluttered. He eventually pulled the shirt off of her body. Georgie did the same taking Dillon’s shirt off quickly. Dillon planted wet kisses down Georgie’s neck and back up to her lips. Georgie tangled her fingers in Dillon’s hair and let her body rise to move against him. Dillon managed to take both his and Georgie’s pants off. Now there were no barriers between them. Dillon slipped inside of her slowly and cautiously making sure to not hurt her. Georgie whimpered lightly, quietly letting Dillon’s name escape her mouth. He kissed down her jaw line lightly and moved in her almost in a pattern that went along with the beats of their hearts.
~*~
Dillon woke up slowly from his deep sleep. He was hoping that whatever had happened last night hadn’t been a dream. He looked over to his left and saw Georgie sleeping peacefully. Relieved, Dillon smiled to himself and pulled her closer to him. Last night was the best thing that had ever happened to him. Of course, he thought that the first he slept with her but this time they were still together in bed the morning after and that was a good sign. Everything about the previous had been perfect for him and he hoped the same for Georgie. There was only one thing that went wrong and he cursed himself for being so forgetful.
Georgie shifted next to him, her eyes slowly starting to open. Dillon watched her wake up from her peaceful sleep. When her eyes were finally wide open he said, “Good morning.”
Georgie looked up at him and gave him a warm smile. “Morning,” she yawned. She snuggled in closer to Dillon wrapping one around his waist.
“You sleep okay?” He asked her kissing her forehead.
“I slept very well. And you?” She said letting her fingers make circles on his chest.
“Same.” He said kissing her head again.
“Dillon?”
“Yeah?”
“I love you too.”
Dillon smiled to himself and then leaned down and planted a kiss on her lips.
“I need to tell you something.” Dillon said brushing his lips with hers.
“Mm?”
He moved away from her. “Georgie last night, we didn’t use any protection…” Dillon said cautiously.
Georgie’s hand stopped tracing circles on his chest. “Don’t worry about it.” She said quietly.
“What? What do you mean?”
Georgie sat up straight. She pulled up the blanket just enough to cover her breasts. She sighed heavily before talking, “Dillon, there’s something you need to know.” Dillon sat up straight too with a worried look on his face.
“Georgie what is it?”
Georgie looked away for a second trying to control the tears that were about to form in her eyes. She looked back at him, “I can’t have anymore babies.”

Chapter 20
Georgie tapped her fingers lightly on her desk. She had been waiting for Ned for over twenty minutes now. She hated waiting. She stood up and smoothed out her long brown skirt. She fixed her black dress shirt and pushed her hair behind her ears. She paced around her small office, waiting and waiting. Finally Ned walked through her door with a big smile on his face. Georgie stood there with her hands on her hips.
“Hi.” Ned said still smiling.
“Ned! I’ve been waiting for almost a half an hour.” Georgie said. “You know I hate waiting.”
“Georgie, I wait every day to see if you’re actually gonna show up for work.” Ned said taking a seat at her desk. Georgie rolled her eyes at him.
“Well you said you had something really important to talk about and I’m really nervous and scared here.”
“All right listen. You know I’m an easy-going guy and I love you. I’ve watched you grow into such a beautiful young woman and-“
“Ned! I don’t need you to tell me my whole life story! Can you just cut to the chase and tell me what’s really going on!?” Georgie exclaimed.
“All right, okay. Even though I am CEO of this company, it’s still Edward’s. He found out that you are showing up late to work almost every day. And I know you just suffered a tragic loss but you said that you were ready to come back to work and he and I expect you to show up on time and get the work done. Georgie you are the secretary of a CEO. You’re expected to be here every day and to get the job done. Do you see where I’m going with this?” Ned said waving his arms in front of him.
“Yes.” Georgie said quietly.
“Look, you know I don’t have a problem with you showing up late. I mean I know you get the work done or at least try to. But Edward likes his employees to be…perfect I guess.” Ned said standing up.
“I’ll try my best.” Georgie said giving him a weak smile.
“Thank you.” Ned said heading towards the door. “I’ll talk to you later.” He said walking out the door and closing it behind him. Georgie went back to her desk and sat down and rested her head on her desk. She sighed heavily; her morning wasn’t going too well. She practically ran out of the apartment when she broke the bad news to Dillon.
“I hate my life.” She muttered to herself. Her office phone started ringing and she debated whether she should pick it up or not. But she knew if she didn’t, she wouldn’t be “doing her job.” She reached over and picked up the phone and held it to her ear.
“Georgie Jones, How can I help you?” She said tiredly.
“You can join me for dinner tonight…” Dillon said happily on the phone.
Georgie smiled to herself. “Is there anything else I can do to help along with that?” She said flirtatiously.
“Hmm, I’ll get back to you on that.” Dillon said.
Georgie laughed. “I’m gonna be home late tonight. I have a lot to catch up on here and Ned just came in basically telling me that I’ll be fired if I don’t start showing up on time and blah blah blah. How about a rain check?”
Dillon laughed. “I’ll hold you too that.”
“Okay…Dillon?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry about this morning. I shouldn’t have left like that.” She said sounding sorry.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll be waiting for you tonight.” Dillon said.
“And I’ll be waiting to see you.” She said flirtatiously again. She smiled to herself again and hung up the phone. Maybe she didn’t hate her life that much.
~**~
Georgie struggled to find her keys through her purse as she walked through the halls of her apartment building. She hated carrying a purse but ever since she started wearing skirts and business suits for her work she didn’t have a choice. If it was up to her she would be wearing some ripped jeans and a t-shirt right now with her keys stuffed in her pocket. But of course life didn’t work that way for Georgie.
She finally found them and made it to her apartment. She shoved the key into the keyhole and turned it to unlock the door. Before she could open it, the door opened slightly with Dillon’s head peeking out.
Georgie gave him a confused look. “What are you doing?” Georgie said tilting her head to the side.
“Can you stay out here for like two minutes?” Dillon said through small opening.
“Why?” Georgie said confused.
“Just-please? Two minutes okay?” Dillon closing the door before letting Georgie answer.
“Ookay.” Georgie said leaning against the wall opposite their apartment door. She looked at her watch that read 9 o’clock. She hated coming home late from work because by the time she was home, she was starving and she hated being hungry. Five minutes later the door flew open with Dillon standing there. “You said two minutes.” Georgie said upset.
“Sorry.” Dillon said coming out and taking her hands. “But you’ll like this. I promise.” He said bringing her hands up to his face and kissing them.” He pulled her towards their apartment and inside. He took her purse and her coat from her and placed them on the small table next to the door. Georgie looked around the apartment which had lit candles everywhere. All the lights were turned off and on the kitchen table, there was dinner for two.
“Dillon…” She said turning around to face him. He had a big smile on his face.
“I told you would like it. Come on sit down.” He said taking her over to the table. He pulled out the chair for her and she sat down.
“You didn’t have to do this.” She said as Dillon took his seat across from her.
“I wanted too. Now eat cause I know you’re starving.” He said smiling.
“Did you cook this?” Georgie asked as she took some chicken into her mouth.
“Sure I did.” Dillon said as he stuffed food into his mouth.
“No you didn’t.” Georgie laughed seeing right through him. Dillon laughed.
A little while later, they both finally finished their dinner. Dillon got up from his seat and went over to Georgie. “Dance with me.” He said holding out his hand to her. Georgie took his hand and stood up.
Softly, like a whisper Hold me in your arms Everything fades but you and me
Georgie and Dillon moved to this living room. He wrapped his arms around her waist as she rested her head against his shoulder.
And you know I'd cross the stars for your love And I think you would go that far But there's no where else I'd rather be right now than where you are
Dillon rested his against Georgie and kissed her head softly. They swayed slowly not saying anything to each other and just enjoying the moment.
Moonlight in between us Quiet, lingering I'm lost in your eyes, but I am safe.
Georgie looked up at Dillon and pulled his head down to hers. She kissed him softly on his lips. He kissed her back lightly. Georgie let go of him and lied down on the sofa.
And you know I'd cross the stars for your love And I think you would go that far But there's no where else I'd rather be right now than where you are
Dillon took his shirt off and lied down on top of Georgie. He kissed her slowly. His hands wandered up and down her arm. He kissed her neck and down towards her breasts. He kissed back up and found her lips again, kissing her gently. Georgie tangled her fingers in his hair.
Ever so gently, pull me in close So I can hear you whispering my name
Dillon went inside of her slowly. He made love to her gently like she was a fragile decoration piece.
And you know I'd cross the stars for your love And I think you would go that far But there's no where else I'd rather be right now than where you are.
