This wasn’t how her life was supposed to be, she’d just graduated from highschool, she’d been accepted to three colleges, two with full scholarships, she had it all in her grasps. Her parents couldn’t even stop her from going to art school now, she didn’t need their money, or help, and then she had to go and ....she was an idiot. She was in over her head. She was pregnant, a one night stand with a stranger, she could barely remember his name, and she was pregnant. And now, she didn’t know what to do. She ha it all one minute, and the next it was all crashing down around her. She knew there was an easy out, she couldn’t do it though, she made it halfway to the clinic before breaking down in tears and having to call her best friend to pick her up. She was eighteen years old, a high school graduate, and she was about to become a mother. She sighed as she ran a hand over her swollen abdomen. Two more hours and she’d be off. Luckily she’d found a job after her parents threw her out. Waitressing wasn’t her dream but, it payed well enough. She’d been doing it since she was fifteen anyways to earn extra money while in school. She thanked god everyday she’d had saved much of that money. Her small nest egg and the money she’d made since then would barley be enough, but she’d survive. The owner of the small diner had taken pity on her when he hired her but, was pleasantly surprised when she turned out to be more than capable of handling the job. She never complained, customers loved her, she was an excellent employee.
She’d considered giving the baby up for adoption at first, after she decided to have it. But, the first ultrasound changed that, she couldn’t. She made her decision, and now, she just had to make it two more hours until she could collapse into bed in her small studio apartment and sleep. The baby’s father, Mr wonderful as she liked to refer to him, turns out he was engaged and none to happy to have her contact him. He didn’t want anything to do with her or the baby, and that was fine, she didn’t feel guilty, she given him the choice.
“Hey, need a ride home?” A familiar voice asked.
“Have I told you lately I love you.” She asked smiling.
“Nope, but how could you not?” he grinned. “I mean look at me.”
“Your terrible.” She said gently swatting his arm.
“Hey.” He said smiling. “ I fixed your AC.”
“You’re a life saver.” She thanked him. “So, when do you leave?”
“Tomorrow, class starts Thursday.” He replied. “I wish you’d change your mind.”
“No, your not going to put your life on hold for me.” She declared. “You’re my best friend Zander, and I don’t know what I’d have done these past few months without you but, just because I got knocked up and can’t go to school, doesn’t mean I’m gonna let you ruin your life to help me out. It isn’t your fault.”
“If I hadn’t talked you into coming with me, and going to that party.” Zander began.
“Not your fault.” Liz cut him off.
Five years later:
The diner had been sold, she couldn’t help but be happy for the couple who’d become like a second family to her. They we’re finally getting to live their dream and retire to Florida. But, she was still out of a job. They’d been good to her over the past five years and she knew a lot of their hesitation over the sale was about her.
She finally decided to give into Zander’s pleading and make the move. Port Charles seemed like just as good a place to raise her son as any. She had a Job lined up at the local Diner Kelly’s and She found an apartment she could afford. The schools were good, and it would be easier to make the move now before Justin started Kindergarten.
“How far is Port Charles?” Just asked.
“Pretty far kiddo.” Liz smiled pointing it out on the map before them. “We’re here in Colorado and it’s all the way over here in New York. But we’ve been there before, remember last year when we went to see Uncle Zander graduate?”
“Yeah.” Justin said pensively. “Will I like it there?”
“I think so, your going to start school this fall, and make all new friends.” She said trying to get him excited.
“What if they don’t like me?” He asked.
“They will, you’ll see, it’ll be fun.” She promised.
“Hey little man.” Zander said the car door flew open and he rushed to meet him. “You look like hell.”
“So would you after six hours in a car.” Liz said with a glare.
“You wanted to drive all the way from Colorado, I would have flown.” Zander replied.
“We got to stay at hotel with a pool last night.” Justin said excitedly.
“Wow, that sounds cool.” Zander grinned.
“You must be Emily.” Liz said when it was clear Zander was to distracted to make introductions.
“It’s great to finally meet you.” Emily replied shaking her hand.
Two hours later they were moved in and Emily and Liz sat sipping ice tea as Zander and Justin wrestled in the living room.
“Zander talked about you two nonstop, I feel like I already know you.” Emily said smiling.
“I know what you mean.” Liz said happy that the initial meeting hadn’t been awkward. She and Emily had hit it off right away and she was glad for another friend, Zander was great but, she missed having a girlfriend.
“Can I ask you a question.” Emily began unsurely. “I mean after everything Zander’s told me, I kinda been wondering....”
“Zander and I never dated, and will never have the desire to do so.” Liz replied. “No offense but, the though sort of repulses me.”
“That’s nice to know.” Emily grinned. “But that wasn’t what I was getting at.”
“Oh then what?” Liz asked.
“It’s about Justin’s father.” Emily began unsurely.
“He’s not an issue.” Liz said a little harshly.
“I’m sorry, it’s none of my business.” Emily said quickly.
“No, it’s not your fault. I mean it’s only natural you ask. I’m not mad.” Liz said waiving off her apology. “I just really don’t like to talk about him. He was a one night stand.”
“Does, does he know about Justin?” Emily asked.
“I told him, and let’s just say, he’s an ass.” Liz sighed. “I was looking at colleges, you know the whole visit them see what there like deal, and Zander and I went to this party, I had to much to drink, and well you can imagine what happened next. When I found out I was pregnant, I contacted him...he was pissed at first, demanding to know how I could be sure it was his. Called me a liar. But, unfortunately for him, he’s the only man I’d ever been with. I was sure.”
“Men.” Emily huffed.
“Your telling me. Then he freaked out. Turned out he was engaged. Offered me a lot of money to make it all go away if you know what I mean.” Liz replied.
“He didn’t.” Emily said outraged. “What did you do?”
“Slapped him and told him not to worry about it. He wouldn’t ever see me or the baby again.” Liz replied. “And he was ok with it. Though, I think part of him was always nervous I’d pop out of the woodwork one day, ruin his perfect little life, demand child support or something.”
“You should.” Emily said furiously.
“Yeah except that would mean exposing Justin to his spoiled rich kid ass of a dad. Part of me is scared to, if I went after his father for child support he’d try and take him from me. How could I fight him, I’m a waitress, and he’s probably finished school by now, married the fiancee and has the picture perfect life. Just because he has money doesn’t mean he deserves Justin. Money can’t make you happy no matter what the rich, we live in a fantasy world were money solves everything, stuck up people think. ” Liz sighed. “Sorry.”
“It’s ok, yeah my family has money, but, I’m not like that. I was adopted by them when I was Fifteen.” Emily explained. “I grew up in the real world.”
“I just don’t know what to say to Justin. He’s never really asked but, I know it’s coming and one day I’ll have to tell him the truth.” Liz sighed. “How do you tell someone their dad didn’t want them? I mean someday’s I wish I’d never met the ass but then I look at Justin and can’t regret it.”
“He seems like a great kid.” Emily grinned.
“He is and I’m not going to let anyone hurt him. Least of all Mr wonderful.” Liz replied.
“Mr wonderful?” Emily asked confused.
“That’s what I call him. He seemed like he was at first. But, I learned not to be so naive. I guess that’s one thing I have to thank him for, that and Justin. I don’t want or need anything else from Jason Quartermain.” Liz explained as Emily spit out the Ice tea she’d been sipping.
“Excuse me?” Emily said Coughing. “Jason Quartermain?”
“Justin’s Father.” Liz said unsurely. “Do you...do you know him?”
“Sort of.” Emily said shocked. “Didn’t Zander ever mention my last name.”
“No.” Liz began confused. “I guess not. Wait I think he said Bowen, or something like that.”
“Sort of.” Emily said unsurely. “That was my Last name before....”
“Before what?” Liz demanded.
“Before the Quartermain’s Adopted me.” Emily admitted as they both tried to process what had just happened.
“Mommy?” Justin called walking in with Zander behind him.

Elizabeth paled her eyes darting from Justin to Emily terrified. Emily looked him over in a new light. She felt stupid for not realizing it sooner. The short dirty blonde locks that had just a hint of a wave flowing through them, which is why they kept it in the short spiky style that only served to make him look more like his father. He had Jason’s nose, his high cheekbones, his eyes at first glance resembled his mothers. He was lucky enough to inherit her wide-eyed stare and full lashes, which may have made him seem feminine if not balanced so well by the masculine facial lines he’d inherited from his father.
“Mom Are you ok?” Justin asked concerned. Elizabeth opened her mouth to respond but, nothing came out. Justin eyes darted from her to the other woman in the room, the one he believed to be the cause of his mothers sudden duress. Emily drank in his stare. It just wasn’t the color, the icy blue, that had her so captivated, but the way he looked at her, how hadn’t she seen it before, the way he carried himself even at five, with such confidence, so relaxed yet alert, the piercing icy stare she knew it all to well. The glare that held so much meaning behind it, the one her brother used against those stupid enough to harm the people he loved.
“Em what is it?” Zander asked worriedly.
“Jason.” Emily murmured coming out of her shock. “I can’t believe I didn’t see it.”
“Justin.” Elizabeth said drawing the boy protectively to her side as she found her voice. “Go play in your room.” He nodded obediently trotting off sending Emily one last warning glare.
“What’s going on?” Zander demanded.
“Get out.” Elizabeth demanded standing.
“Woah, hold on, what happened?” Zander asked.
“I have to pack.” Liz said frantically grabbing the boxes that they’d just finished unpacking.
“Pack? Where are you going, you just got here.” Zander said stunned as he tried to make sense of what was going on.
“You can’t just leave.” Emily said.
“I told you to go.” Liz glared. “Get out of my house.”
“You don’t understand.” Emily began. “My brother.”
“No, you don’t get it.” Liz cut her off. “He’s your brother, so you have to tell him, but I don’t have to be here when you do. I wont let that bastard near my son.”
“It’s his son too.” Emily declared angerly. “He has a right to know.”
“He knows, and now I’m going to keep my word and disappear.” Liz replied.
“Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on?” Zander demanded.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Liz asked furiously.
“He didn’t tell me either.” Emily said just as mad at the man.
“Tell you what?” Zander asked confused.
“That your new girlfriend was a Quartermain.” Liz replied.
“Why should that matter?” Zander asked.
“Because, so is her son.” Emily replied.
“The hell he is.” Liz said spinning around. “And he never will be.”
“What?” Zander asked.
“Justin’s father is Jason.” Emily replied. “Didn’t you know?”
“Jason, your brother Jason?” Zander said stunned. “I didn’t, You never.” He said turning to Liz. “Oh god.” He finished sinking into the nearest chair. “The ivy league ass hole is Jason.”
“One in the same apparently.” Liz sneered. “Small world. Now, if you don’t mind, I have to go.”
“If he had any idea.” Emily said shaking her head. “He’s never going to believe me. How do I even begin to tell him this.”
“You don’t.” Liz demanded. “I told you he knows, he made his choice.”
“But, he doesn’t, you don’t understand.” Emily tried to explain. “He’s not the same person.”
“I don’t care if he’s superman, he’s not getting within five feet of my son.” Liz declared. “And for that matter neither are you.”
“You can’t do this.” Emily began. “Please let me explain.”
“GET OUT!” Liz screamed.
“Liz I think you should hear her out.” Zander began.
“Your on her side?” Liz asked in disbelief.
“You don’t have all the facts.” Zander began.
“I have enough.” Liz cut him off. “You can get the hell out too.”
“Ow.” Emily said stumbling back. “What the hell.” She looked down at her feet where a matchbox car lay.
“Leave my mom alone.” Justin said glaring. “She said to go.”
“I’m bleeding.” Emily said staring at her hand in disbelief.
“Justin come here.” Liz demanded as he hurried to her side. She placed a hand protectively on his shoulder as she faced the pair.
“Ok, we’re leaving.” Zander sighed.
“What!?” Emily asked as he pulled her along behind him. “What are you doing?” Emily asked as she wrenched her arm from his grasp once outside the apartment building.
“Look, She was furious, she wasn’t going to listen to us and we were scaring Justin.” Zander sighed.
“Scaring him, I think I need stitches.” Emily said rolling her eyes.
“Liz doesn’t know about Jason’s accident, she has no idea about any of it. We need to let her calm down and we’ll explain it to her.”
“And in the mean time she’ll run off with Jason’s son.” Emily said furiously.
“Jason’s not exactly blameless in this.” Zander countered. “You have no idea what he put her through.”
“That’s not his fault.” Emily replied.
“Isn’t it.” Zander shrugged. “We need to let this blow over before we make it worse than it already is.”
“Like hell, if you wont stop her, I will.” Emily declared.
“Emily please.” Zander began.
“No, she’s not going to keep Jason from his son.” Emily said walking away determinedly.

Ok, I know your Hating Emily and I planned it this way, you’ll understand soon. But, don’t worry she will be redeemed in later chapters.
“What do you mean she left?” Emily demanded.
“She got in a cab and took off.” Zander replied. “She wouldn’t listen to me. Does he know?”
“I just got here.” She said as she stepped into the lobby nodding to the doorman.
“She’s just scared, she’ll come around.” Zander reassured her. “Maybe we should wait to tell him.”
“No, he’s lost five years already, he doesn’t deserve to lose another second.” Emily replied. “Wether she’s ready or not.”
“Em.” Zander groaned.
“No, I get that she’s your friend but, I have to do this.” Emily said hanging up as she stepped into the elevator.
The doors dinged open and she found herself unable to stand out. All the furious determination that had built on the way over left as she wondered just what was she going to say. How do you deliver news like this? How would Jason react?
“Excuse me.” A brisk voice began. “Miss Quartermain.” Francis said his tone much softer when he discovered the elevators occupant. “Is everything ok?”
“I’m not sure.” Emily sighed. “Is he home?”
“Yeah.” The guard nodded as she stepped past him. “You may want to wait a minute.” She looked at him curiously as the penthouse door flew open.
“That’s enough Carly.” Jason demanded. “You have to stop this, you made your choices.”
“How can you turn your back on me, on your son.” Carly shrieked.
“He’s AJ’s son.” Jason replied calmly but Emily knew how much it hurt to utter the comment. “Emily.” Jason greeted as Carly spun around surprised.
“What are you doing here?” Carly demanded.
“I came to see my Brother.” Emily said stressing the word. “You know the one your not married to.”
“You better mind your own business.” Carly threatened as Jason forced her onto the elevator.
“Be grateful you don’t have to live with her.” Emily said as Jason sighed pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Do you need something?” Jason asked. “Now’s not really a good time.”
“I...I need to talk to you.” Emily replied unsurely.
“Can it wait?” Jason asked.
“It’s important.” She replied.
“Are you ok? Is it Grandmother?” Jason began worriedly.
“No, I’m fine, she’s fine.” Emily reassured him as she followed him into his pent house.
“What’s up?” Jason asked taking a seat on the edge of his desk.
“I need you to promise you’ll hear me out.” Emily began nervously wringing her hands.
“Ok.” Jason nodded.
“I guess I should start at the beginning.” Emily said after a few minutes of trying to figure out just what to say. “About six years ago, when you...I mean Jason Quartermain was at med school, something happened. He did something.” “Emily.” Jason sighed. “I don’t care what he did.”
“You will, and you promised.” Emily insisted.
“Fine.” He sighed waiting expectantly.
“He, you, had a one night stand with a girl.” Emily continued.
“Guess he wasn’t as perfect as everyone though.” Jason smirked. “I was under the impression he was engaged.”
“He was.” Emily sighed. “Well, remember when I told you Zander’s friend was moving here?” He nodded. “You’ll never believe it, I mean I can barely believe it and I saw it with my own eyes.”
“Em.” Jason groaned at her rambling.
“It turns out, She, Elizabeth, she was that girl.” Emily blurted.
“So...wait what do you mean saw it with your own eyes?” Jason asked confused.
“Eww, not that.” Emily shuddered. “But thanks for the mental picture. I don’t know how to say this... do you remember What else I told you about Elizabeth?”
“Um, she’s Zander’s oldest friend, you were kind of worried there was something between them. Is that it? Did he do something?” Jason asked furiously.
“No, think harder.” Emily said nervously.
“She....I don’t know Emily, just tell me.” Jason sighed. “Wait, she has a kid.”
“She does, A son.” Emily nodded waiting for him to connect the dots. “Justin, he just turned Five.” She watched the realization flash across his face.
“Are you saying that..is he...” Jason said unable to articulate what he wanted to ask.
“I’m saying that Justin was fathered by Jason Quartermain during that one night stand. Whatever you feel about your former life, what Jason Q was or did, He’s your son.” Emily replied. She watched a the information soaked in. Jason sat there stunned then suddenly jumped from his perch grabbing her shoulders.
“Who else knows?” He demanded.
“What, just Zander.” Emily replied confused.
“Are you sure?” Jason demanded.
“Yes, Just me, Zander and well Elizabeth of course.” Emily replied.
“Where are they?” Jason asked.
“That’s just it, we don’t exactly know.” She admitted.

“Liz please answer, or call me back.” Zander begged. “I know your pissed, and I’m sorry. If I had any idea.....just please call and let me know your ok at least. You don’t have to tell me where you are. I just need to know your ok.”
Harborview Towers:
“Let me get this strait, Jason had a one night stand, when he was still Jason Q and almost six years later the woman, who happens to be the best friend of your boyfriend moves here with their son.” Brenda said stunned after Emily told the tale yet again.
“Pretty much.” Emily sighed.
“I don’t know why your all so shocked, with everything that goes on in this town, this is just a normal day.” Sonny quipped. “What do you want to do?” he asked Jason.
“What should I do, I mean She, Elizabeth, whoever this woman is has made it more than clear she wants nothing to do with me but, if anyone found out....” Jason trailed off.
“The kid could be in serious danger.” Sonny sighed. “We’ll put Francis on it, there’s nowhere on earth she can go that he couldn’t find her, especially since she’s probably not covering her tracks well.”
“And then what?” Jason asked. “Storm in there with an army of armed guards, that’ll win her over.”
“Well we can’t do nothing, the secrets out, we have to find them before someone else does.” Sonny replied. “It’s your call man.”
“I know, send Francis, but noone approaches them unless their in danger or until I decide what I’m going to do.” Jason replied walking out of the penthouse.
“He’s..He’s mad at me isn’t he?” Emily asked confused.
“No.” Brenda reassured her. “It’s just a lot to take in.”
“Yes he is.” Sonny said shaking his head at the women.
“Sonny.” Brenda said shocked.
“Well think about it from his position. This Woman, Elizabeth, She was just trying to protect her son from a father she thought would hurt him. She asked you to keep her secret and you told anyways. Decided you knew what was best for her son.” Sonny explained. “You did to her what Robin did to Jason.”
“Jason’s his father he deserved to know the truth.” Emily declared.
“Did AJ?” Sonny asked.
“It isn’t the same, Jason’s not AJ.” Brenda began.
“But you didn’t even give her a chance. She still doesn’t know about Jason’s accident. Maybe she would have come around if you gave her a chance.” Sonny replied. “But, you forced her hand and now, we all have to deal with the fall out again, except this time Jason gets to be on the other side.”
“Oh god, what did I do?” Emily said horrified.
“Your heart was in the right place, we just have to hope it all works out.” Sonny replied.
“Morgan.” Jason said answering his phone.
“I found her.” Francis replied.
“Noone makes a move without my order, unless there’s trouble.” Jason ordered.
“Got it, I wont let them out of my sight.” Francis promised ending the call.
“Hey.” Johnny greeted as he walked over to the other guard. “Any movement?”
“Nope, they haven’t left the room all day.” Francis replied stretching his tired muscles.
“Ok, Max will relive me at in the morning, then your on again.” Johnny replied. “Hang on.” Johnny said as Francis was about to leave. “Someone’s here.”
“Boss.” Johnny said quietly.
“What is it?” Jason asked.
“You said to report any movement, well they have a visitor.” Johnny replied.
“Who?” Jason demanded.
“Smith.” Johnny replied. “Just arrived looks like she was expecting him.”
“Ok, let me know if anything else happens.” Jason said about to hang up.
“Hang on.” Johnny said suddenly. “She’s leaving.”
“With Smith?” Jason asked.
“No, alone, the kid must still be inside with him.” Johnny replied. “Francis is still here, do you want him to tail her?”
“Yeah, but keep out of sight.” Jason replied hanging up.
“What now?” Jason asked gruffly as the phone rang the second he hung up.
“Jason?” A voice asked nervously.
“Who is this?” He demanded.
“Elizabeth, Elizabeth Webber, I think we need to talk.” She replied tentatively.
“Ok.” He said unsurely sitting down on the soft leather couch.
“I’d rather not do this over the phone, can you meet me somewhere?” She asked unsurely.
“Where?” He asked.
“Um, I’m actually at a bar, my phone died I needed to use a payphone.” She rambled. “I don’t hang out at bars or anything I just..”
“Where is it?” He asked cutting her off.
“It’s called Jakes, it’s.” She began.
“I know where it is, I’ll be there in five minutes.” He replied hanging up.

“What’s a pretty little thing like you doing sitting all alone?” A drunken voice asked.
“I’m waiting for someone.” She replied dismissing him.
“Well how about I keep you company till they get here?” He asked.
“No thank you.” she replied hoping he’d take the hint.
Then the door flew open. She watched as He walked into the dimly lit bar. The name may be different but that was him, Jason Quartermain, she’d know him anywhere. She fought the urge to run out the back door as he quietly conversed with the bartender before turning his icy blue gaze to her. She was glad she was sitting because his gaze still made her go weak in the knees, damn him she thought after all this time she’d hoped he wouldn’t affect her but, he did.
“Come on princess, let’s dance.” The drunk said roughly grabbing her arm.
“Let me go.” She demanded.
“Come on don’t be a tease.” He laughed pulling her from her seat.
She was beautiful. Her porcelain skin glowed even in the dimly lit bar. He couldn’t make his feet work as he stared. It was like someone punched him in the gut when their eyes met. Then they’re gaze was broken by some drunk hassling her. When he grabbed his arm Jason saw red in tow seconds he’d made his way over.
“She said no.” Jason said menacingly. The man instantly let her arm go.
“Sorry..I...I didn’t know she was with you.” He stammered hurrying away.
“I had it under control.” Elizabeth said glaring at Jason.
“If you say so.” Jason shrugged.
“I didn’t ask for your help.” She replied coldly.
“If you want to get pawed by some drunk that’s your business, but I thought you wanted to talk.” Jason replied annoyed.
“You’ve got a lot of nerve.” Elizabeth said with a dry laugh.
“You wanted to talk?” Jason reminded her.
“Not exactly, I want answers.” She said coldly. “I was reading the morning paper and surprise, surprise look who was staring back at me from the front page.” She said tossing the paper on the table. “Local Crime lord Sonny Corithos and his right hand man Jason Morgan beat the Charges again.” She read. “Now it may have been a few years but, I’d know this man anywhere so, either he had a twin or, Jason Morgan and Jason Quartermain are one in the same. Seeing as how you came to meet me I’m going to go with the later.”
“You could say that.” Jason replied cryptically.
“I want to know what the hell is going on and What you want with my son.” She demanded. “Because I gave every opportunity to be part of his life and you wanted nothing to do with him, with us, so why now?”
“I didn’t even know he existed until yesterday.” Jason replied.
“That’s a load of crap.” She began furiously standing up.
“No, it’s not.” he said grabbing her arm before she could leave. “Please.” he said letting her go at her glare. “Just hear me out.”
“You’ve got five minutes.” She replied sitting back down.
“About Five years ago, I had an accident. I don’t remember what happened, but apparently, I got in the car with my brother to stop him from driving drunk, he crashed I went head first into a tree and was in a coma for about six months, when I woke up, I didn’t remember anything, not even my own name.” Jason hurried to explain.
“Really?” She asked skeptically.
“It’s the truth, you can ask anyone. Hell I’ll show you my medical records if you want.” He replied.
“So, how did you end up Jason Morgan?” She asked.
“It’s going to take more than five minutes.” he replied.
“I’ve got some time.” She said curiously.
“Zander where are you?” Emily asked.
“Um, I promised not to say.” Zander said regretfully.
“She called you?” Emily asked surprised.
“Yeah, I’m baby sitting.” Zander replied.
“Baby sitting? Where is she?” Emily asked confused.
“Look she’s still pissed at me, so all I know is she asked for Jason’s number and said she’d be home later.” Zander replied.
“That could be a good thing.” Emily said hopefully.
“I’m not sure.” Zander sighed.
“I know I messed up.” Emily began. “I’m sorry I did this to her and you. I know she’s your best friend I should have never put you in the middle of all this. I shouldn’t have put myself in the middle of it.”
“You where trying to do the right thing.” Zander replied.
“Yeah well, right for who?” Emily sighed. “Jason’s mad at me too.”
“Why?” Zander asked confused.
“Well, as Sonny pointed out I pretty much did to Liz what Robin did to Jason and Carly.” Emily explained. “I’m just hoping everything will work out.”
“Me too.” Zander replied.
“I know she probably will never want to speak to me again and I don’t blame her.” Emily began. “But can you tell her I’m sorry.”
“I will.” Zander replied. “I’ll call you later.”
“Bye.” Emily said hanging up.
“So you really don’t remember any of it?” Elizabeth asked.
“No.” Jason replied.
“I’m sorry.” She began.
“I’m not.” He shrugged.
“But it must have been hard, you had to create a new life from scratch.” She said sympathetically.
“So, your ok, with all this.” Jason asked surprised.
“It’s not like I really have a choice do I?” She asked. “I mean would I have preferred to be sitting here with Dr Quartermain. Not really. Though I do feel a little bad that I spent the last few years hoping you developed some painful, incurable disease. This isn’t exactly how I pictured my life when I was younger but, I’ve learned over the years to roll with the punches, take things as they come, if you will.”
“Where do we go from here?” Jason asked.
“You still haven’t answered my question.” She replied.
“Huh?” he asked confused.
“What do you want with Justin?” She asked defensively.
“If, when people find out he’s my son, he’ll be in danger.” Jason sighed.
“Well it seems we can’t put the lid on that can of worms, so what do we do?” Elizabeth asked.
“That’s up to you.” Jason began. “He’ll need a guard, and security. So will you.”
“What do I have to with anything?” She asked.
“You’re his mother.” Jason replied.
“Really, I hadn’t noticed.” She said rolling her eyes.
“Where your living isn’t safe, I’ll set you up with a better place.” He began.
“Hold it.” She cut him off. “I may not have a penthouse apartment, but where I live is just fine.”
“I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with it but, I can afford to get you a better place, in a safer part of town. Or anywhere you want to go.” Jason replied.
“Really?” She asked raising a brow at him. “Just like that? I say I want to move to Italy, and you’ll set me up.”
“If that’s what you want.” Jason replied.
“This was a mistake.” She said standing up. “You haven’t changed. I wouldn’t take your money six years ago, and I don’t want it now. I’m such an idiot. You want us to move fine, I’ll be gone by the end of the week. I’m a fool, I talked myself into this, even after all you did. Everyone kept saying I didn’t understand, you were different. So I swallowed my pride and came and I let you do it to me again. I can’t believe I actually thought....”
“Thought what?” Jason asked confused.
“I thought you actually wanted to be a part of your son’s life.” Elizabeth said tearfully as she rushed out of the bar.

“Shit.” Jason cursed as he moved to chase after her unsure of what he’d actually done. “Elizabeth.” He called running into the parking lot relived when he spotted her.
“Stop, just stay away.” She said. He could hear the tears in her voice.
“Elizabeth please.” He began. She shivered hating how much she enjoyed the sound of her name on his lips.
“No, I promised myself I’d never let you see me cry especially not because of you. So please leave me with what little dignity I have left.” She begged.
“Not until you tell me what I did.” Jason replied.
“What you did?” She asked furiously spinning around. “You..you pretended to be sweet, kind, god you where charming. You charmed the pants right off me, literally. I was a virgin you know, before we...” She trailed off blushing slightly. She knew this isn’t what he meant when he asked what he did but, she’d been carrying this around with her for six years. “I didn’t even want to go to Sanford, I was only checking it out to appease my parents. They were so happy when I got the full scholarship, for the first time in my life they didn’t look at me as a mistake. Zander went with me and while I took the tour he chased the coeds.” She said with a soft smile. “I was on my way to find him, when I met you. I was lost, you offered to help me out. You were so nice, good looking, smart, and I couldn’t for the life of me think of why you were talking to me. By the time we found Zander, you invited us to a party that night at your frat. I didn’t want to go, that’s a lie, I did, I was just to chicken but, Zander talked me into it. We both had a lot to drink and...You can guess what happened next. When I got home the realization hit me. I slept with a man and I didn’t even know his last name. But, I decided just to forget it, I moved forward with my plans, got into Art School with a full ride, it was going so well, too well, that’s when the other shoe dropped, so to speak. I found out I was pregnant, a week before my graduation.” She laughed bitterly. “It’s was supposed to be a week of fun, partying, but, I spent most of it leaning over the toilet. Everyone thought it was nerves, and I let them. I wayed out my options, I realized I couldn’t have an abortion. I was going to but, I just couldn’t. But, I couldn’t see myself raising a child either so, I planned to put it up for adoption. Zander was the first person I told and the only one who stood by me. When I told my parents, they threw me out.”
“I’m sorry.” Jason began.
“I knew I had to do it.” She continued ignoring him. “Even if I wasn’t keeping it, I had to tell you. You had a right to know. I was going to call but, I couldn’t do it over the phone, I owed you that much, to do it in person. I bought a plane ticket, Zander wanted to come, but I had to do it myself. The day before I had my first ultra sound. And for the first time, I couldn’t see myself letting that little life inside of me go. I fell in love. But, I still had to tell you. When I showed up...”
“I was an ass, Emily told me.” Jason sighed.
“Not at first.” Liz said quietly. “I knocked on the door of the frat house, I asked for Jason and prayed you were the only one. The guy who answered the door let me in and Bellowed. ‘Quartermain you got company.’ it’s funny that’s how I learned your last name. I asked if we could go somewhere and talk, you were so nice about it. We went to this little coffee shop. And then you apologized. You told me you’d been fighting with your fiancee, that you felt horrible that you pulled me into it. God, I almost felt sorry for you. I was tempted to say nothing and another part of me wanted to tell you so badly just to ruin your perfect little life. I was so mad at myself, I let you use me. I figured I didn’t owe you anything. You used me, lied to me, not that I was completely blameless but, I’d just finish my drink and disappear from your life. Then I felt the baby move, and I knew it wasn’t about me, or you. I owed my child. And for the same reason I came here tonight, I told you.” No matter how I felt about you, the baby deserved it’s father. I’d given up my right to judge when I got into your bed. You called me a liar, a whore. But you knew that wasn’t true. Then you accused me of doing it on purpose. We started screaming at each other, they kicked us out of the coffee house. I was hailing a cab out side calling you every dirty name I could think of when you grabbed my arm stopping me.”
“Wait, I’m sorry.” Jason said. As she spun around glaring. “Please don’t leave we need to figure this out. I never expected.” “It’s not like I did either.” Liz spat.
“I know, look what do you want from me?” He asked.
“What do you want.” Liz countered.
“I can give you money, just name your price.” Jason replied.
“Money for what?” She asked.
“To take care of it.” He replied.
“Take care of it.” She repeated. “Somehow I don’t think you mean buying diapers.”
“You know what I mean.” Jason replied.
“Theirs not enough money in the world.” She began furiously.
“Everyone has their price, name it.” He countered.
“You son of a bitch.” She slapped him. “I’m keeping my baby, and don’t worry you’ll never hear from either of us again.”
“Good, because if you show up again in a few years looking to clean me out with child support or what ever bull shit you’ll try you’ll regret it.” He threatened.
“Oh really, maybe I’ll just start right now, call your fiancee.” She said wanting to hurt him as badly as he hurt her.
“Try it.” He said menacingly grabbing her arm. “Because she’ll be pissed but, she’ll get over it. You fuck with me and you’ll never see that baby.”
“You couldn’t stop me.” She challenged.
“Look at it from my perspective sweetheart. What do you have to offer granted you where a nice little screw but, other than that, nothing. I on the other hand will be married, financially stable and much more fit to take care of a child than a little slut who sleeps with men she barely knows.”
“You...I...You can’t.” She said willing herself not to break down.
“I can and I will, you remember that.” He said walking away.
She waited till he rounded the corner before breaking down into sobs.
“Elizabeth.” Jason said tentatively as she finished. “I’m so sorry, I can’t even begin to.”
“I lived in fear that you’d go through with your threat, that’s why when Emily told me you where her brother, I lost it.” Liz explained.
“I’d never do that, I swear to you.” Jason vowed. “I new I treated you badly but, I had no idea...” She trailed of sadly.
“Well techincally it wasn’t you.” Liz said wiping away her tears.
“But still.” Jason began. “That’s why I didn’t ask to see him, I didn’t want to assume I could be part of his life.” He explained. “God there’s nothing I want more than to know him. Ever since Emily told me, I haven’t been able to think of anything else. I tried to picture him, what he was like, if he’d like me. But can’t you see, I don’t deserve him, you have every right to keep him from me.”
“Like I said, this isn’t about us, This is about Justin and what he needs, what he deserves.” Liz replied. “I’m not going to let you walk in his life only to disappear later. You need to make a decision Jason, because this isn’t a game, do you want to be a father?”

“More than anything.” Jason admitted.
“Ok, now we just need to figure out away to make this work.” Liz replied with a small smile. “I need to talk to Justin, he doesn’t know anything about you. I used to fear the day he’d ask me where his daddy was.” She explained. “And I need to make something perfectly clear.”
“What?” Jason asked confused.
“We’re not friends, hell I still barely know you six years later and I still so angry with wether that’s fair or not. I can’t help it. This is going to be confusing enough for Justin and I’d never forgive myself if I drove away his only chance to have a real father so, as long as your not hurting him, I’ll be nice. But, don’t mistake it for anything more, if it wasn’t for Justin, I’d never speak to you again. You got a second chance here, don’t mess it up.” She replied icily.
“I wont.” Jason said determinedly. “When..when can I see him?”
“Tomorrow afternoon.” Liz replied. “I can talk to him in the morning and meet you at the park, around noon. Unless your to busy?” Damn Jason mentally cursed he had a job to do for Sonny tomorrow but, somehow he knew this was a teat. She was offering him a chance, one he wasn’t sure he could reschedule.
“I’ll be there.” Jason promised. He just wasn’t sure how.
“So, how’d it go?” Zander asked as Liz crept into the motel room.
“Ok, I think.” Liz replied. “Justin asleep?”
“Yeah.” Zander replied. “So, are you still mad at me?”
“I can’t really be, you’re the only friend I have.” Liz sighed. “So I guess your forgiven, for now.”
“Emily asked me to tell you she’s sorry.” Zander began unsurely. “She’d tell you herself but, I think she’s a little afraid of you.”
“I was a little crazy.” Liz said with a small smile.
“A little, remember that nature special we watched in high school, the one with the mother bear protecting her cub.” Zander smirked.
“I wasn’t that bad.” Liz said smacking him lightly.
“You’d have scared the bear.” Zander teased.
“Oh shut up.” Liz glared before breaking into laughter. She glanced at Zander her expression turning serious. “I have to talk to Justin tomorrow, about Jason.”
“Really?” Zander asked. “Your going to do it?”
“Well otherwise it may be awkward when they meet in the afternoon.” Liz replied.
“Wow, everything’s changing so fast.” Zander replied.
“I know, now I just have to figure out what to say.” Liz sighed.
“Do you want me to stay?” Zander asked.
“No, but could you..never mind it’s silly.” Liz sighed.
“It’s not silly, I’ll be there.” Zander replied knowingly.
“Thanks, meet me at my apartment at eleven thirty. We’re meeting Jason around noon.” Liz replied gratefully. “I just don’t trust myself around him.”
“He’s not the same person.” Zander replied. Though he had to keep telling myself that to, or else he would end up doing something stupid like trying to beet him up, and even through his hot headed temper Zander knew that was a bad idea.
“Then Why does he still have so much power over me?” Liz asked.
“What’s up?” Sonny asked opening the penthouse door and ushering Jason in.
“I can’t meet Roscoe tomorrow, Johnny’s gonna do it.” Jason replied.
“Why not.” Sonny demanded. “This is important, I need you on this.”
“I just can’t, I have something I need to do.” Jason sighed.
“What’s so important?” Sonny demanded.
“Elizabeth called me.” Jason explained. “She asked me to meet her tonight, we talked.”
“Good, but what does that have to do with tomorrow?” Sonny asked.
“She’s giving me a shot.” Jason replied. “Letting me be a part of my son’s life. I’m going to meet him tomorrow at noon, so I wont have time to make the meeting.”
“Can’t you rearrange the time.” Sonny sighed. “I wouldn’t ask but this is major.”
“Damn it Sonny I know.” Jason replied frustrated. “She hates me. And truth be told, I don’t blame her. She’s giving me a shot and if I don’t measure up, I’ll never get the chance to know my son.”
“So this is how it’s going to be, she says jump and you say how high?” Sonny asked. “Because in the end you’ll never win, never measure up.”
“I have to do this.” Jason sighed.
“Of course you do.” Brenda said walking down the stairs as she tied her robe. “Don’t mind my ass of a husband, he’s just a little jealous that your taking orders from someone else.”
“Brenda.” Sonny began.
“No, don’t you Brenda me.” She glared. “Jason deserves this, he’s been nothing but loyal to you and Johnny can handle whatever job you have him on or Jason wouldn’t have asked him, you know it.”
“I know, your right.” Sonny admitted reluctantly. “I’m sorry man.”
“Thanks.” Jason replied.
“So, are you excited?” Brenda asked smiling.
“I’m terrified.” Jason admitted. “What if he hates me too?”
“Why would he hate you?” Sonny asked confused.
“I don’t know.” Jason sighed. “Elizabeth hates me.”
“Your just nervous, don’t worry it’ll work out.” Brenda grinned.
“I hope so.” Jason replied.

She knew Justin was confused. She’d packed them up and brought them back to the apartment early that morning. But just as when they’d left in a rush, he didn’t question her. He was a very smart kid and she knew he was aware something was going on.
“Justin honey, can you come here?” She called sitting down on the thrift store sofa she’d bought with her first paycheck. She’d been through a lot with this couch, it served as her bed through most of her pregnancy before she’d saved up enough for a real one. It was old and worn but, for some reason she just couldn’t let it go. She waited as he turned off the tv hopping up next to her.
“Am I in trouble?” He asked.
“No sweetie, of course not.” She smiled. “I just need to talk to you.”
“I don’t know Em.” Jason sighed. “I mean what do I do, just walk up and say Hi, I’m your Dad?” “Don’t over think it. Just let it happen.” Emily said with a grin. “It’s kind of nice to see you nervous for a change.”
“I’m glad it makes you happy.” Jason said rolling his eyes.
“Oh, calm down, he’ll love you, how could he not?” Emily insisted.
She opened the door sparing an easy glance at the Body guard beside it before letting Zander in. She hadn’t been thrilled when she met Francis outside her motel room and the man informed her he’d wouldn’t be leaving their side. Jason had mentioned guards but, they we’re going to have to discuss this arrangement.
“You guys ready?” Zander asked.
“No.” Liz sighed. “But we should get going.”
“How’d Justin react?’ He asked.
“He seemed to take it all ok, I asked if he wanted to meet Jason, he said yes.” She replied. “I think he’s still taking it all in you know.”
“It’s a big change.” Zander nodded.
“I know, first the move and now this.” She sighed. “But, he’s tough, he’ll be ok.”
“Jason’s not going to hurt him.” Zander said reassuringly.
“He’d better not.” Liz replied.
“He’s late.” Liz said from her place on the bench carefully watching Justin on the jungle gym.
“It’s still early.” Zander said glancing at his watch.
“He has five minutes.” Liz said grabbing his arm and checking the time. “What if he doesn’t show up?” She asked suddenly. “What will I tell Justin?” “Calm down, that’s not going to happen.” Zander said slightly amused.
“How can you be so sure?” She demanded.
“He’s here.” Zander nodded behind her.
“Elizabeth.” Jason greeted unsurely.
“You came.” She replied.
“I said I would.” Jason shrugged.
“I know.” she replied. The stood there just staring each waiting for the other to make the first move, the park bench like a buffer between them.
“Well, I’ll just be...somewhere else.” Zander excused himself. “Ok then.” He said shaking his head as the two paid him no attention as he walked away giving them privacy while at the same time staying close enough in case Liz needed him.
“Where’s Justin?” Jason asked breaking the spell.
“On the jungle gym.” Liz replied turning around her eyes landing on him as he waved to her from the top of the slide. She smiled waving him over.
“Did you see how fast I went down?” Justin asked excitedly running over to her.
“I saw honey.” She smiled kneeling down to his level. “There’s someone here who wants to meet you.” she said as Jason moved around the bench cautiously kneeling down beside them. “This is Jason, your Daddy.” Jason waited as he studied him carefully his small hand tentatively reaching out and touching his forehead.
“Does it hurt?” Justin asked confusing him.
“Does what hurt?” Jason asked.
“Your head, Mommy said you hit your head, that’s why you didn’t remember us.” He replied. Jason looked to Liz who shrugged giving him a look that said ’what was I supposed to say’.
“No, it doesn’t hurt.” Jason replied. “It was a long time ago, I’m better now.”
“Mark’s Dad takes him to baseball games.” Justin began.
“Mark was his friend in Colorado.” Liz explained.
“You like Baseball?” Jason asked.
“Uh huh.” Justin nodded happily. “Mommy says I can play little league this year, cause now I’m five. Do you like Baseball?”
“I don’t really know much about it.” Jason admitted seeing his disappointed look. “But, you can teach me.”
“Ok.” Justin said happily.
“And maybe if your mom says it’s ok we can go to a game sometime.” Jason offered.
“We’ll see.” Liz smiled as Justin turned his pleading look to her.
“Did you bring my ball mom?” Justin asked.
“It’s in the bag.” She said as he began rummaging pulling it out. “I can throw real far, wanna see?”
“Sure.” Jason smiled.
“Wait.” Liz said before he could toss it. “Remember the rules. You need to go over there, away from the other kids, you don’t want to hit anyone.”
“Sorry mom.” Justin replied. “Come on we can play catch.” He said grabbing Jason’s hand and dragging him away.
“Am I a horrible person for secretly wishing he flaked and didn’t show up?” Liz sighed as Zander walked over.
“You have your reasons for not trusting him.” Zander shrugged.
“It’s not that, I just...” She tried to explain. “I wanted a reason, an excuse to keep him out of my life.”
“You were protecting your son, noone can blame you for that.” Zander replied.
“Maybe, but maybe I was really protecting myself.” Liz sighed.

“Can we play again tomorrow?” Just in asked hopefully.
“You start camp tomorrow sweetie.” Liz reminded him.
“Aw mom.” Justin groaned.
“Don’t worry, We’ll see each other real soon, I promise.” Jason said kneeling down in front of him.
“Ok daddy.” Justin said throwing him arms around him. Jason instinctively wrapped his arms around the small boy stunned. “Next time I can bring my bat, and we can play for real.” Jason nodded not trusting his voice.
“Why don’t you go help Uncle Zander find his car.” Liz smiled down at him. “You know how he always forgets where he parked it.”
“One time.” Zander said glaring. “And you never let me live it down.”
“Nope.” Liz laughed.
“Come on little man, I’ll let you drive.” Zander teased as he took his hand leading him away.
“We’re going to have work out some sort of schedule or something but, for now I don’t want to have this disrupt his whole life.” Liz explained once they were alone. “Plus I think it’s important for him to make some friends before school starts.”
“I understand.” Jason replied finally finding his voice. “When can I see him again?”
“How about this weekend.” Liz replied. “He starts little league, you could take him to practice and then spend the afternoon together, if you want.”
“Ok, what time should I pick him up?” Jason replied without hesitation.
“Practice starts at ten thirty.” Liz replied.
“I’ll be there at ten.” Jason nodded.
“I guess I’ll see you then.” Liz replied turning around and walking away.
Harborview Towers:
“So how’d it go?” Brenda asked excitedly.
“He called me Daddy.” Jason said still taking it all in. “Then he hugged me.”
“Felt good didn’t it.” Sonny asked smiling as he remembered the first time Stone called him dad.
“Yeah, it did.” Jason replied smiling.
“See, he loved you, I was right.” Emily grinned.
“How was Elizabeth?” Brenda asked.
“Polite.” Jason sighed. “She hates me but, she said she’d be civil for Justin, and she was.”
“I just can’t picture you being with her.” Emily said thinking aloud. “Sorry that’s not what I meant, I mean she wasn’t Jason Q’s type.”
“She was a one night stand Em, with en the requirements are pretty much a warm body.” Brenda replied.
“I know but still, I mean Jason Q went for the busty blondes, you know the type ones without real names. With the exception of Keesha I was surprised many of them could walk and talk at the same time. Manipulative, sluty you know what I mean, saw Jason as their meal ticket and he was more than willing to use them right back.” Emily explained.
“Sound like Carly to me.” Sonny replied. “Sorry.” he added at Jason’s glare.
“But, that’s just it, I could totally see Jason Q getting involved with Carly, or a girl like her.” Emily replied.
“Kind of, but Carly may even be a little to much for Jason Q.” Brenda grinned thinking about her once friend.
“But Elizabeth, I could totally see her as someone you’d go for now.” Emily explained.
“Really.” Brenda smirked.
“Before you two even start, just don’t” Jason sighed. “It’s going to be hard enough without your scheming and besides your forgetting, she hates me.” “She hates Jason Q.” Emily corrected. “But, we’ll be good, promise.”
“I fell bad about last night.” Sonny apologized again. “If there’s anything I can do to help out, if you need time off, just let me know.”
“Actually there is something.” Jason began unsurely.
“Whatever you need.” Sonny replied.
“Can you tell me about Baseball?” Jason asked.
“Baseball” Sonny asked confused. “Sure, what do you want to know?”
“Everything.” Jason replied. “Just in loves it.”
“What do you know?” Sonny asked.
“You hit a ball with a bat and run around bases.” Jason shrugged.
“Ok then, I guess we’ll start at the beginning.” Sonny said shaking his head.
Kelly’s:
“Welcome to Kelly’s my names Liz, what can I get you?” Liz said turning to meet her newest customers.
“Just coffee to go.” Sonny replied flashing his dimples.
“Coming right up.” Liz replied.
“Keep the change.” Sonny said handing her a hundred dollar bill.
“I couldn’t.” Liz insisted. He seemed familiar, she just couldn’t place him.
“I insist.” Sonny grinned refusing to take his change. “Is there something wrong?” he asked as she continued to study him.
“Your Sonny Corinthos.” She said realizing where she recognized him from.
“Yes.” he replied unsurely.
“Well, you can keep your Change Mr Corinthos.” She said firmly setting it down on the counter.
“I didn’t mean to offend you.” Sonny began.
“Save it.” she cut him off, “I already told Jason I didn’t want or need his money, and I don’t want your either.” She spat stalking back into the kitchen.
Harborview towers:
“Hey, everything ok?” Brenda asked as Sonny walked into the penthouse.
“I think I may have messed things up.” Sonny said a little confused.
“How?” Brenda asked.
“I met Elizabeth.” Sonny replied.
“Really? What was she like?” Brenda asked excitedly. “Wait what did you do?”
“Nothing, well I didn’t think it was anything.” Sonny sighed. “I just ordered a coffee to go, I didn’t even know she was Jason’s Elizabeth, I mean she introduced herself as Liz, I didn’t make the connection but, I gave her a hundred and told her to keep the change.”
“Sounds like normal Sonny over tipping.” Brenda shrugged. ‘What’s the big deal.”
“Well, she recognized me from somewhere and thought I was trying to give her money or Jason wanted me to give her money, or something like that.” Sonny tried to explain. “And let me tell you, she was not happy about it.”
“Did you explain it to her?” Brenda asked.
“She didn’t give me a chance.” Sonny sighed.

“I’m going to go find Jason.” Sonny sighed.
“You do that.” Brenda said half paying attention as she picked up the phone dialing.
“What are you up to?” Sonny asked worriedly.
“Me?” Brenda asked innocently. “Nothing.”
“Sure.” Sonny sighed.
“Weren’t you going out?” Brenda asked pointedly.
“Yeah, fine, I’m going.” Sonny sighed.
“Hey Em.” Brenda said after Sonny left. “Get your butt over here, I have a great idea.”
“It’s not your fault.” Jason sighed. “I mean how could you have known.”
“I still hate that I made things harder.” Sonny replied.
“No matter what I don’t think things will ever be easy between Elizabeth and me.” Jason replied. “She hates me for what I did and to be honest I hate myself too.”
“It wasn’t you, eventually she’ll have to see that.” Sonny assured him.
“The only thing she’ll ever see when she looks at me is the man who offered her money to kill our child. The man who threatened to take the child away from her if she ever contacted him again.” Jason spat.
“I had no idea.” Sonny said stunned.
“It’s a miracle she let me anywhere near Justin.” Jason sighed. “I just hope she’ll let me explain.”
“Rough Day?” Emily asked cautiously.
“I’ve survived worse.” Liz shrugged indifferently.
“I know Zander already probably told you but, I’m sorry about what I did.” Emily began. “And as for Sonny, he tips everyone that much, ask the other waitresses, he had no idea who you were.”
“Really?” Liz asked skeptically.
“I swear.” Emily nodded. “And I know we got off on the wrong foot and, I understand if you never want to speak to me again but I would really like to explain myself.”
“He’s your brother, your loyalty lies with him, I understand.” Liz shrugged.
“It’s not just that.” Emily replied. “Jason’s been....well sort of lost since he lost Michael. He was becoming like the person they say he is, cold, detached, I....I guess I sort of thought this could fix things. It was stupid of me, I mean I had no right and he was furious with me.”
“Who’s Michael?” Liz asked confused.
“He’s..He was Jason’s son.” Emily began unsurely.
“He died?” Liz asked stunned.
“No.” Emily replied quickly. “I’m not explaining this very well, I probably shouldn’t have said anything. I mean here I go poking my nose into other peoples business again, when will I learn. Basically Michael was a friend of his, and I use the term friend loosely, son. She asked him to pretend to be the father and he did, she took off soon after he was born and Jason raised him for over a year. Then she came back and the truth came out. She took Michael and married his father.”
“Why do I have a feeling it’s much more complicated than that?” Liz asked.
“Because it is, But you should really talk to Jason about this.” Emily explained.
“Maybe I will.” Liz replied noncommital.
“I hope someday you’ll forgive me.” Emily sighed. “I’d like us to be friends.”
“I need to get back to work.” Liz replied. “I’ll see you around.”
“Yeah.” Emily smiled, it was a start.
“Jason.” Elizabeth said surprised to find him outside her door.
“Hey, I was wondering.” Jason began. “Dad.” Justin said excitedly running into his arms.
“Hey buddy, I need to talk to your mom for a minute.” Jason explained.
“Oh.” Justin said disappointedly.
“Go finish your dinner and maybe he can stay for desert.” Liz offered.
“Will you?” Justin asked hopefully.
“I’d like that.” Jason said smiling. “About today.” He said standing as Justin ran into the kitchen.
“I over reacted, I’m sorry.” She cut him off. “Emily stopped by and explained.”
“She did.” Jason said surprised.
“This isn’t easy, for either of us.” She sighed. “Come on, I hope you like chocolate cake.”
“Thank you.” Jason said gratefully.
“It’s just cake.” She shrugged.
“No, for letting me a part of his life, for not slamming the door in my face.” He explained.
“I’m nit doing it for you.” She replied.
“Here, sit by me dad.” Justin grinned as they walked into the kitchen. “Can you stay for movie night? Were watching the new Pokemon movie.”
“What’s a Pokemon?” Jason asked confused.
“Now your in for it.” Liz smirked.
