Let Me In
Introduction
Elizabeth is 19 years old and is Sonny’s sister; they have the same parents, Mike and Adella. Sonny lives in his penthouse with Alexis, his wife, who is pregnant with their first child. Carly and Jason are friends and Michael is their biological son, but Carly is happily married to Jax. Jason is 26 and single, and he and Elizabeth are best friends.
*Additionally, Robin and Angel Ellis don’t exist and Sorel is not dead. Emily and Johnny are together and Jason met Elizabeth after dumping the table at Luke’s during Ned’s concert. For story purposes, Harborview Towers has four penthouses: Sonny’s, Elizabeth’s, Jason’s, and Carly and Jax’s, to keep Michael close to both parents. Also, Jax and Sonny get along and Sonny and Carly were never together. That’s everything that needs explanation.
There is underlying sexual tension between Jason and Elizabeth, but Elizabeth has harbored a dark secret for three years, preventing her from letting Jason get through the walls that she’s built to protect herself.
Between romance and the business of the mob that Jason, Sonny, and Elizabeth are involved heavily, there are ups and downs, love, loss, heartache, pain, and in the end, hopefully, a happily ever after…
Chapter 1
“I’m a dead man when they find out about us,” Johnny said, pulling away from Emily’s embrace. “I’m gonna be fitted for cement shoes.”
“That’s very funny,” Emily said. “But highly unlikely.”
“Jason’s gonna have a fit,” Johnny said, beginning to pace.
“Maybe, but Elizabeth’ll keep him in line,” Emily said. “She keeps all of you in line. Sometimes I wonder if Sonny and the business would survive without her.”
“Probably not,” Johnny said with a laugh.
“So, we tell them. Tonight,” Emily said.
“Tonight,” Johnny replied.
******
“Corinthos,” Elizabeth said, answering her cell phone.
“Sonny’s missing,” Francis said.
“No, no, he’s at the cemetery,” Elizabeth said. “He was visiting Lily’s grave, alone. It’s the anniversary of her death.”
“We followed him there and then took off,” Francis said. “We went back to get him and he was gone.”
“What do you mean gone? Maybe he wandered off or something,” Elizabeth said.
“Liz, I know this is hard to accept, but he’s gone,” Francis said. “We found his briefcase in front of Lily’s grave, empty. We have no idea where he is.”
“Maybe that’s a good thing,” Elizabeth said. “He’s probably still alive.”
“I hope you’re right,” Francis said.
“So do I, Francis. So do I,” Elizabeth said. “Who was with you?”
“Max,” Francis replied.
“Okay,” Elizabeth said. “I’m on my way back to Sonny’s penthouse now. Meet me there. I’ll call Jason. And if Alexis finds you before I do, don’t tell her anything. I don’t her working herself up; it might hurt her or the baby.”
“You’ve got it Liz. We’re heading back now,” Francis said.
“Please be alright Sonny,” Elizabeth said to herself, putting her cell phone away and hurrying to her car.
******
“What’s going on?” Jason said when he, Elizabeth, Johnny, Francis, and Max had gathered at Sonny’s penthouse.
“Sonny’s missing,” Elizabeth said.
“What do you mean Sonny’s missing?” Jason said.
“Missing, gone, not where he was last scene, disappeared,” Elizabeth said. “Can I make it any clearer? Sonny has vanished.”
Jason looked slightly hurt at the tone Elizabeth had taken and Elizabeth immediately regretted it.
“I’m sorry,” she said. “Sometimes words just come out of my mouth.”
Jason nodded and they returned their attention to the matter at hand.
“So here’s what’s going to happen,” Elizabeth said. “I’m going back to the cemetery to do recon. Jason, start checking with your sources; see if anyone’s heard anything. Max, Francis, you start looking into warehouses and abandoned buildings, anywhere he could be. Johnny, get Emily and you and she keep Alexis as calm as possible. Don’t give out any details. Any questions?”
“No,” they replied.
“Good,” Elizabeth said. “Get moving.”
******
Meanwhile…
“Mr. Corinthos, I hope your accommodations are pleasant,” a figure said.
“Kiss off,” Sonny said.
“Ah ah ah,” the figure said. “Not nice.”
“What do you want with me?” Sonny asked.
“Revenge,” the figure replied simply.
******
“This doesn’t look like Sorel’s handiwork,” Elizabeth said, walking around the cemetery. “He knows nothing about Lily’s death or her grave here. He wouldn’t have known to come here to attack Sonny while he was unarmed. There has to be someone else behind this.”
Little did Elizabeth know how right she was. Sorel was not responsible for Sonny’s disappearance, but an old enemy with a grudge, who wanted nothing more than Sonny to pay for past sins.
Chapter 2
Having found nothing at the cemetery, Elizabeth hoped Jason or Max and Francis had had more luck.
At her penthouse, Elizabeth sat on the couch staring back and forth between the door and the phone.
“Anything?” she asked, standing up when the door opened.
“Somebody old’s in town,” Jason said.
“What do you mean?” Elizabeth asked.
“An old enemy, looking for revenge,” Jason said. “No one knows anything more than that.”
“So that rules out Sorel, though I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing,” Elizabeth said.
******
“Who are you?” Sonny asked when the figure reemerged.
“You know I didn’t think you’d have such a hard remembering,” the figure said. “My father and my sister introduced us more than once.”
“Rivera,” Sonny said.
“Miguel Rivera,” he said. “I’ve waited years for this.”
“What do you want from me?” Sonny asked.
“I thought I’d pay you back for all the things you took from me, starting with your best friend and your precious baby sister. Then there’s your wife and unborn child,” Miguel said.
“No, please God no,” Sonny begged.
“Unfortunately they’re so heavily guarded that I’ll never get near them. You’ve trained your sister well. So I guess I’ll have to settle for killing you,” Miguel said.
******
“We found him,” Francis exclaimed, bursting through the door with Max.
“Who’s responsible?” Elizabeth asked.
“We don’t know,” Max said. “Guy looks familiar, but I can’t place him. Not much older than you Liz.”
“Alright, this obviously isn’t business, otherwise we would’ve gotten a call by now. So how do we play this,” Elizabeth asked.
“They’re in a warehouse off Bannister’s Wharf,” Francis said. “Main kid goes in and out and he’s got three covering him, but that’s it.”
“Okay, you three get his men, I’m going after the big shot. Try to keep this clean,” Elizabeth said. “Let’s go.”
******
“I recognize this place,” Elizabeth said. “It’s Rivera’s old holding warehouse.”
“You can get through that window, but be careful,” Francis said.
“You too,” Elizabeth said. “All of you.”
Francis, Max, and Jason went off in their directions as Elizabeth made her way through the window.
“Miguel,” Elizabeth said when she saw him. “I should’ve known.”
“Ah Lizzie, still trying to pretend you can fill a man’s shoes in this business,” Miguel said. “Your brother and I were just catching up.”
“Why are you doing this Miguel?” Elizabeth asked. “It’s been over for a long time.”
“Maybe for you,” Miguel said.
“It’s over for you too, you just haven’t realized it yet. Let it go Miguel,” Elizabeth said. “You can’t take us on and expect to win. You’ve got a snowball’s chance in hell for that to happen.”
“I think the odds are a little more on my side,” Miguel said, pulling a knife.
“I think you should put that down before you hurt yourself,” Elizabeth said.
“You can’t know what I’ve been through,” Miguel said.
“Put it down,” Elizabeth repeated forcefully.
“Make me,” Miguel taunted.
“I’m unarmed Miguel,” Elizabeth said. “It’ll stay that way if you put the knife down and just let Sonny go.”
“Never,” Miguel said.
“Miguel please,” Elizabeth pleaded.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Jason coming in behind Miguel gun drawn, and knew he’d shoot if he thought Elizabeth or Sonny were in danger.
Before she could do anything, Miguel charged at Elizabeth. Jason fired and Miguel faltered, but still followed through in plunging the knife through Elizabeth’s left shoulder.
Jason ran to her as Francis and Max worked to untie Sonny. Jason pulled Miguel’s limp body off Elizabeth and pried his fingers off the knife in Elizabeth’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry,” Elizabeth said softly.
“Don’t, don’t say that. Sonny’s safe and you’re gonna be fine. Miguel was your friend once, you were trying to protect him,” Jason said.
Overcome with pain, Elizabeth fought to keep her eyes open, but eventually gave in and let them close.
“We’ve got to get her out of here,” Jason said.
“Get a clean-up crew here and tell Doc we’re on the way,” Sonny said.
Chapter 3
“We’ve gotta move her. Can we pull the knife out?” Sonny asked.
“No, don’t,” Jason said. “For now, it’s stopping the flow of blood.”
“How is she?” Sonny asked.
“She’s out, but I don’t think it’s that bad,” Jason said.
“I can’t believe she did this for me,” Sonny said. “This is all my fault.”
“Don’t say that. This isn’t your fault. You would’ve done the same thing,” Jason said. “We’re all alive. That’s what matters.”
“Crew’s here Sonny. And Doc’s waiting for us,” Max said.
“Let’s go,” Sonny said.
Jason carefully lifted Elizabeth into his arms and carried her out to the car with Sonny, Francis, and Max ahead.
******
“What’ve you got?” Doc asked.
“It’s Bella. She took a knife to the shoulder. It’s still in there,” Sonny said.
“I’ll stay with her. You should go see Alexis,” Jason said.
“Alright, just call me with any news,” Sonny said.
“I will,” Jason said. “Francis, take Sonny back to the penthouse and then come back to get us.”
“Sure thing Jason,” Francis replied.
“Jason, Doc is asking for you,” Max said.
“What’s going on?” Jason asked, coming into the room where Doc had Elizabeth.
“She is unconscious, but on the off chance that she wakes up, I’m going to give her something to put her to sleep while I remove the knife and suture her up,” Doc said.
“Can I stay with her?” Jason asked.
“It could get bloody, but that’s your call,” Doc said.
“I want to stay,” Jason said.
Doc nodded, administered the sedative, and went to work on Elizabeth’s shoulder.
******
Forty minutes later, Doc had finished and Elizabeth was slowly coming to.
“Jason,” she managed hoarsely when her eyes focused on him.
“Hey,” Jason replied. “How are you feeling?”
“Thirsty,” Elizabeth said, coughing.
“I’ll get you some water,” Jason said. “Try not to move around too much.”
“I’ll be good, I promise,” Elizabeth said with a smile.
“I’m glad you’re up,” Doc said, coming in as Jason went out. “Let me take a look and make sure everything’s okay.”
Doc double-checked her sutures, her blood pressure, and heart rate and told her to get some rest and not move her arm too much.
He was fitting her for a sling when Jason came back with her water.
“How is she?” he asked.
“She’ll be fine,” Doc said. “Her arm will be a little sore, but in a few weeks she’ll be as good as new.”
“So she can go?” Jason asked.
“Yes,” Doc said.
Immediately, Elizabeth began to get out of bed.
“But,” Doc continued, making Elizabeth stop in her tracks. “Make sure she gets plenty of rest and doesn’t use that am. Her shoulder needs to heal fully to prevent further damage.”
“I’ll make sure she does all of that,” Jason said.
“Oh goody,” Elizabeth replied, rolling her eyes.
“Funny,” Jason said. “Let’s get you home.”
******
“Oh thank God you’re alright,” Alexis said when Jason carried Elizabeth through Sonny’s penthouse door, Elizabeth arguing with him the whole way.
“I took a knife to the shoulder Jase, my legs work just fine,” she said.
“Doc said not to over-exert yourself,” Jason said. “I’m going to make sure you do what he says.”
“Bella, how do you feel?” Sonny asked after hugging her gently.
“Like I’m being smothered. I’m fine, stop worrying,” Elizabeth replied.
“Alright, I’m sorry,” Sonny said. “It just scared me to see you like that.”
“Okay, but enough about me,” Elizabeth said. “Where are Johnny and Emily? I believe they have something to share with us.”
“Yeah um,” Johnny began. “Emily and I have kind of been seeing each other. For the past few months.”
“How many months exactly?” Jason asked, trying to keep his temper in check.
“A few,” Emily said.
“How many is a few?” Jason said, growing impatient.
“Eighteen,” Emily said.
Chapter 4
“Eighteen?” Jason exclaimed, his voice getting louder.
“Jason, calm down,” Elizabeth said, placing the hand of her uninjured arm on his shoulder. “You may be a little upset, but face it, you can’t do anything to Johnny. He’s on our side, and you need him, whether you admit it or not.”
“Always the voice of reason,” Jason said. “Alright, alright. I’ll back off, but I’m not happy. Not because you’re together, but because you didn’t say anything.”
“You’re right,” Emily said. “We should’ve told you. We’re sorry.”
“Thank you,” Jason said, hugging his little sister. “Elizabeth, I think we’ve had enough excitement for one day. Why don’t I take you across the hall to get settled.”
“Fine,” Elizabeth said. “But I’m walking there.”
Everyone but Jason and Elizabeth looked at each other and smiled as Jason put his hand on the small of her back and led her out of Sonny’s.
~~~~
“Does your shoulder hurt?” Jason asked.
“A little,” Elizabeth replied.
“Why don’t you take one of the pain pills Doc gave me for you?” Jason suggested.
“Thanks, but I don’t like the way they make me feel,” Elizabeth said. “Can I just have an aspirin instead?”
“Sure,” Jason said. “I’ll be right back.”
Jason came back moments later with two aspirin and a glass of water in hand. Elizabeth was sitting on her bed, moving awkwardly, trying to figure out how she’d get dressed.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said, taking the pills and the glass from him. She swallowed both and downed the glass of water.
“You okay?” he asked.
“I’m not used to not having the use of my arm,” Elizabeth admitted. “I can’t do anything. I can’t even change my clothes.”
“Let me give you a hand,” Jason said, taking a step towards her.
He reached out to unbutton the oversized shirt she’d put on at Doc’s, and Elizabeth’s face paled and she pushed him away.
“Don’t touch me,” she said coldly.
“Elizabeth, I, I’m sorry. I’ll just go get Emily to help you,” Jason said, clearly hurt and confused.
He backed out of the room and hurried across the hall to get Emily as Elizabeth continued to pale and her body began to tremble.
~~~~
Emily walked into Elizabeth’s room while Jason waited outside. A minute later, she walked out of Elizabeth’s room and looked at Jason.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with her,” Emily said.
“What do you mean?” Jason asked.
“Jason, she’s huddled in the corner of her room, pale and shaking,” Emily said.
“What?” Jason asked.
“See for yourself,” Emily said.
Jason nodded and walked back into Elizabeth’s room and found her as Emily said he would.
She was rocking back and forth and mumbling to herself, but Jason couldn’t make it out.
“Elizabeth,” he said gently. “Elizabeth, come on. Focus on me. Look at me. You need to snap out of this. Just look at me. Please, open your eyes for me.”
“Jason,” Elizabeth said softly, slowing come back from wherever she was.
“Are you alright?” Jason asked.
Elizabeth nodded slowly and stood, stepping away from Jason.
“Are you going to tell me what just happened?” Jason asked.
Elizabeth shook her head no and Jason nodded, not surprised by her response. Like him, Elizabeth rarely showed her feelings; which in the world they lived in, was a key to survival, but in the real world, made her lose herself in sometimes dark emotions.
“I’ll just let Emily back in and she’ll help you get ready for bed,” Jason said. “But, I’m coming back when she’s finished. You may not talk to me, but I’m not leaving your side tonight.”
Elizabeth nodded knowing that Jason had absolutely no intention of leaving be what had happened. Even if it took him forever, he would make her talk to him. And maybe he had a point; maybe it was time she talked.
Chapter 5
“Elizabeth, are you okay?” Emily asked as she helped her best friend get dressed for bed.
“Yeah,” Elizabeth said. “I’m sorry if I scared you.”
“It’s okay. I’m just glad you’re alright,” Emily said.
“Thanks for the help Em,” Elizabeth said. “I’m gonna need a hand for a couple of days.”
“Of course,” Emily said.
“Thanks,” Elizabeth said. “Can you tell Jason he can come back in now?”
“He’ll be right in,” Emily said.
~~~~
“Hey, I hope you don’t mind, but Michael wanted to say goodnight,” Jason said, coming back in the room with the 5-year-old redheaded boy trailing next to his father.
“That’s fine,” Elizabeth said. “Hi Michael.”
“Daddy says you have an ouchie,” Michael said.
“It’s just a little one. You don’t have to worry about me,” Elizabeth said.
“Can you and Daddy read me a story?” Michael asked sweetly, crawling onto the bed.
“Michael, it’s already past your bedtime and Elizabeth needs her rest too,” Jason said.
“Come on Jason, it’s just a bedtime story,” Elizabeth said.
“Please?” Michael and Elizabeth said together.
“Alright, alright,” Jason said.
“Daddy’s a softie,” Elizabeth said to Michael.
Michael smiled widely and Jason smiled back.
Michael snuggled between Jason and Elizabeth and Elizabeth began to read the story they’d been working on, Swiss Family Robinson.
A little while later, Michael’s even breathing meant he was sleeping. Jason shifted to pick him up, but Elizabeth touched his arm.
“Let him stay,” Elizabeth said. “You can stay too.”
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” Jason said.
“You won’t,” Elizabeth said.
“I did before,” Jason said.
“Not intentionally,” Elizabeth said.
“Are you going to tell me what happened before?” Jason asked.
“It’s not exactly a conversation we should have in front of Michael, sleeping or not,” Elizabeth said.
“It’s bad,” Jason said.
“You could say that,” Elizabeth said. “Look, I promise that I’ll tell you, but I’m really tired and it’s just gonna wear me out more. Can we talk about it tomorrow?”
“Alright, but you only have to tell me if you want to,” Jason said. “I don’t want to push you.”
“I know,” Elizabeth said.
~~~~
Early the next morning, Michael woke up to find his father and Elizabeth still sleeping, on either side of him, holding hands, resting on his belly.
He managed to wiggle his way out from under their hands and quietly walked down the stairs and slipped out the front door to find Johnny standing at his post in front of Sonny’s door.
“Michael, what are you doing out here by yourself?” Johnny asked.
“Daddy’s still sleeping. He and Lizbeth are in bed like Mommy and Uncle Jax. Is Lizbeth gonna be my mommy like Jax is my other daddy?” Michael asked.
Johnny tried to hide his smile from the little boy, but Michael noticed and gave him a toothy grin.
“Why don’t we leave your Daddy a note and get some breakfast from Uncle Sonny?” Johnny suggested.
“Okay,” he said happily.
~~~~
An hour or so later, Elizabeth awoke and her movement caused Jason to wake up as well.
“Where’s Michael?” Jason asked when he realized his son wasn’t in bed with them.
“Probably downstairs raiding the cookies he knows I have,” Elizabeth said.
“That sounds like my son,” Jason said with a smile, getting out of bed. “How’s your shoulder?”
“It’s sore. I think I’m gonna take some more aspirin,” Elizabeth said.
Elizabeth took two aspirin and drank a glass of water before walking with Jason downstairs, towards the kitchen.
When they got there, it was empty, but there was a note scribbled in crayon on the counter.
DADDY
I’M WITH UNCLE JOHNNY AT UNCLE SONNY’S.
MICHAEL
In Johnny’s smaller, neater handwriting there was a p.s. at the bottom.
P.S. You might want to talk to him about your relationship with Elizabeth. –Johnny
“We should probably collect him from Sonny before we talk,” Elizabeth said.
“Yeah,” Jason said.
Chapter 6
“Hi Daddy,” Michael said, running into his father’s arms when Jason and Elizabeth walked through Sonny’s door.
“Good morning Michael,” Jason said.
“Did you two have a nice night?” Sonny asked with a sly smile.
“Cover his ears,” Elizabeth said to Jason, looking at Michael.
Jason nodded and put his hands over Michael’s ears.
“Yeah Sonny, I took a knife to the shoulder last night and Jason and I spent all night having sex with Michael in the room,” Elizabeth said.
“Okay, point taken,” Sonny said as Jason took his hands away from Michael’s ears.
“Are we playing a game?” Michael asked.
“No sweetie, I just had to say something bad to Sonny,” Elizabeth said, tickling his belly.
Michael giggled and everyone in the room smiled.
“Seriously though, how is your shoulder?” Sonny asked.
“It’s okay,” Elizabeth replied. “I took some aspirin twenty minutes ago. It’s still sore though.”
“Well that’s because you’re taking aspirin and not those painkillers Doc prescribed. The painkillers are stronger,” Sonny said.
“I don’t like the way they make me feel,” Elizabeth said.
“Fine,” Sonny said.
“Are Carly and Jax back from their vacation yet?” Jason asked.
“Not as far as we’ve heard,” Sonny said. “They were gonna call from the airport so I could send a car to get them and they haven’t yet.”
“Michael, you, Elizabeth, and I have to talk,” Jason said. “Did you eat breakfast already?”
“Yes,” Michael said, nodding his head enthusiastically.
“Jason,” Elizabeth said, touching his arm. “I think you and I should talk first.”
Jason turned to Elizabeth and she looked at him to get her point across. He nodded and turned back to Michael.
“Elizabeth and I need to go next door and talk for a little while,” Jason said. “Sonny, would you mind if he stayed here a little while longer?”
“Not at all,” Sonny said. “Maybe we’ll go to the park, or get an ice cream sundae from Kelly’s.”
“Thanks man,” Jason said. “Michael, you be a good boy for your Uncle Sonny and Uncle Johnny and Elizabeth and I will be by to talk to pick you up later.”
“’Kay Daddy,” Michael said.
He hugged Jason and Jason and Elizabeth went back across the hall.
~~~~
Elizabeth fell onto the couch when she and Jason had returned to her penthouse. She glanced to her right and watched Jason close and lock the door, something he never did. He would be certain that they had no further interruptions.
“You know this seemed a lot easier when I wasn’t exactly right about to tell you,” Elizabeth said with a strained laugh.
“What do you mean?” Jason asked, sitting beside her.
“Take last night; I knew I was going to tell you, but I had until this morning. And then this morning, when Michael was next door, we went to get him and I didn’t have to tell you,” Elizabeth said. “But right now, it’s just you and me and there’s no way I’m getting out of telling you.”
“You know I’d never force you. I told you last night that if you didn’t want to tell me, you didn’t have to,” Jason said.
“Just because you said it, doesn’t mean you mean it,” Elizabeth said. “I know you Jason. You want to know what’s got me wound up like this.”
“You’re right, I do. But if it makes you uncomfortable…” Jason said.
“Jason, it’s okay,” Elizabeth said. “The truth is I should have told you a long time ago. If anything, I definitely should have told you six months ago, the night that we…”
Flashback
“I’m just glad that headache has been dealt with,” Elizabeth said as she and Jason walked into their suite at the casino they owned jointly with Sonny.
“Carlos had been a problem for far too long,” Jason said in agreement.
“So what now?” Elizabeth asked.
“Dinner?” Jason asked.
“Sounds good,” Elizabeth said. “I need a shower though.”
“I think that’s a good idea. I’ll take one when you’re finished,” Jason said.
“I’ll meet you in the lobby in half an hour,” Elizabeth said before disappearing into the bathroom.
~~~~
After dinner that night…
“I can’t remember the last time I’ve had this much fun,” Elizabeth said as they returned to the room two hours later.
“Me neither,” Jason said.
“Well I’m actually tired between dinner and taking out Carlos earlier, so I’m gonna get some sleep,” Elizabeth said.
“I’m glad you had a good time tonight,” Jason said when they stopped in front of her bedroom door.
“I did Jason, thank you,” Elizabeth said.
“You’re welcome,” Jason replied.
“Good night,” Elizabeth said, kissing his cheek.
“Good night,” Jason replied, touching his cheek as Elizabeth stepped into her bedroom.
“Elizabeth,” Jason called after her.
Elizabeth turned around and searched Jason’s face with curiosity.
Jason took one step and was in front of her. He looked at her for a moment, lifting his hand to caress her cheek before lowering his head to kiss her.
She whimpered in protest at first, but quickly relaxed against him as his mouth slanted expertly over hers.
Their kiss never broke as Jason wrapped an arm around her waist and backed her into her bedroom.
She sighed as the hand at the curved over her hip slipped under her top and caressed her bare skin. Jason used her response to tease her mouth open further with his tongue. As his tongue stroked hers, Elizabeth’s knees hit the bed and she fell back to the mattress, bringing Jason with her.
Their kiss deepened further, though Elizabeth’s actions were hesitant, and Jason’s hand, still under the top of her two-piece dress, slowly moved upward and caressed the underside of her breast. His movements became bolder and he covered her breast through her bra and ran his thumb across her nipple.
He tore his mouth from hers and trailed kisses across her jaw line, to her neck, to the sensitive spot behind her ear.
“Jason,” Elizabeth said as he kissed her again.
“I want you honey,” he drawled before taking her mouth again.
“Jason,” Elizabeth said, putting her hands on his chest. Jason nuzzled her neck again, catching her earlobe in his teeth.
“Jason stop,” Elizabeth said forcefully, pushing him away.
Startled and confused, Jason moved away from Elizabeth and turned to her as she readjusted her shirt and looked away from him.
A second later, she hopped off the bed and raced into the bathroom, making it just in time, dropping to her knees and heaving into the toilet.
End flashback
“I should’ve told you that night,” Elizabeth said. “It wasn’t fair of me to push you away without an explanation.”
“It’s okay,” Jason said, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“Jason, I know you’re thinking that maybe I pushed you away because I was uncomfortable or we were moving too fast or whatever, but it goes a lot deeper than that,” Elizabeth said. “And I have to tell you now, or I’ll lose my nerve.”
Chapter 7
“And I have to tell you now, or I’ll lose my nerve,” Elizabeth said.
“You look kind of pale all of a sudden. Do you need some air or something?” Jason asked.
“Yeah, it does kind of feel like the walls are closing in around me,” Elizabeth said.
“Let’s go out on the balcony for a few minutes,” Jason said.
Elizabeth nodded and Jason wrapped his arm around her waist and led her outside, turning on the stereo on his way out.
“Do you want to dance?” Jason asked hesitantly.
“I’d like that,” Elizabeth said, letting Jason wrap his arms around her as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
I've been watching you and all you do For quite some time Knowing all the ins and outs of you I should've know what was on your mind But all the world is spinning round and round Inside my head tonight I will fall into the darkness And I fear I will never see the light The light
So let me in All that I wanted from you Was something you'd never do So let me in Oh please tonight Don't let this end Tonight I'll fall
Through no light the darkness seems to be So very strong How does one alone against the world Find the strength to carry on What happened to the way we used to love It seemed as though life had just begun But now that love has come and gone to fade away Like the setting sun ‘Cause you won't let me in
All that I wanted from you Was something you'd never do So let me in Oh please tonight Don't let this end Tonight ‘Cause I'm starting to fall So let me in
It was all that I wanted from you It was something you never knew To let me in But not tonight For this is the end Tonight I fall
“Feeling better?” Jason asked, still holding her, but pulling back to look at her face.
“A little,” Elizabeth said. “Jason, this can’t wait anymore. It’s getting too hard to block from my memory because all I’ve done is think about it for two days.”
“Okay,” Jason said. “I’m here for you. I’ll listen. I just want to help you.”
“Do you remember three years ago? It was about a year or so after Michael was born and Carly was in Ferncliffe for shooting Tony after he’d kidnapped Michael,” Elizabeth said.
“Yeah, that was around the time you were kidnapped by…does this have anything to do with the kidnapping?” Jason asked.
“Pretty much,” Elizabeth replied. “I was 16. Moreno’s men grabbed me because they thought they could get to Sonny through me. Moreno just wanted me as leverage; he never intended to hurt me or have me hurt.”
“I don’t like where this is going,” Jason said.
“Sorel had other ideas,” Elizabeth said. “Jason, I tried to stop him, I swear I did, but I couldn’t fight him.”
“Did he hurt you?” Jason asked.
“I didn’t want him to. I begged him to stop. But he just kept tearing at my clothes and when I tried to push him away, he hit me. I was so scared Jason,” Elizabeth said, crying. “I said no, I swear I did. I didn’t want him to Jason, but he wouldn’t stop.”
“He raped you. That son of a bitch raped you,” Jason said angrily. “I’m gonna kill him for what he did to you.”
“Jason no,” Elizabeth said. “Jason you can’t do that.”
“Why the hell not?” Jason asked. “How could Sonny even let that sick @#%$ live after what he did to you?”
Elizabeth said something softly, but Jason couldn’t make it out.
“What?” he asked gently, trying to keep his anger in check.
“Sonny doesn’t know. No one else does,” Elizabeth said. “You’re the only one I’ve ever told.”
“How could you keep a secret like that?” Jason asked.
“I don’t know,” Elizabeth said. “I just thought I was doing the right thing.”
“Sonny needs to know about this,” Jason said.
“No,” Elizabeth said strongly. “Jason, you know how he gets. If he goes out to do something for revenge, he’ll get too emotionally involved and something will go wrong.”
“But Sorel needs to pay for what he did to you,” Jason said.
“I know. Believe me, I know better than anyone,” Elizabeth said. “I haven’t forgotten what he did to me. He’ll get what he deserves in time.”
Chapter 8
Later on…
“You should still tell Sonny,” Jason said.
“Why?” Elizabeth asked.
“I don’t know how you kept that secret for three years,” Jason said. “I’d rather him know now rather than having it slip out later.”
“Alright,” Elizabeth said, starting to stand. “But, I want you with me when I tell him.”
“Before we go, there is one more thing I want to talk about,” Jason said, reaching for her hand to sit her back on the couch.
“What?” Elizabeth asked.
“Us,” Jason said. “I know you know that I feel something more for you than friendship. Hell, even my 5-year-old son sees it. I know now why things ended so abruptly for us in Puerto Rico. But what I want to know now is if you want to try again and see where it leads.”
“I’d like that,” Elizabeth said with a smile.
Jason smiled back and softly brushed his lips across hers, not wanting to push her too fast. Elizabeth moved closer to Jason, sitting on his lap, deepening the kiss.
“Oh, you’re busy,” Johnny said, opening the door causing Jason and Elizabeth to move apart. “Sorry.”
“It’s alright,” Elizabeth said. “Are Sonny and Michael back?”
“Yeah,” Johnny said.
“Good,” Jason said. “Tell Sonny to head over to my place and we’ll be right there.”
~~~~
“Why are we playing musical penthouses?” Sonny asked when Jason and Elizabeth walked through the door of Jason’s penthouse.
“Michael needs a nap,” Jason said.
“Daddy,” Michael whined.
“Michael,” Jason said. “Just for an hour, okay buddy?”
“Alright,” Michael said, shrugging his shoulders.
He hugged Sonny and Jason and kissed Elizabeth’s cheek before going upstairs to his bedroom.
“You seemed pretty quick to get him out of here. What’s going on?” Sonny asked.
“Jason and I talked earlier, and I have to tell you something,” Elizabeth said.
“I have a feeling that I’m not going to like this,” Sonny said.
“You might wanna sit down,” Elizabeth said.
“No, I’m definitely not going to like this,” Sonny said, sitting down. “Man, if you got her pregnant, I’m going to kick your…”
“Whoa, whoa, Sonny chill,” Elizabeth said, keeping Sonny away from Jason. “I’m not pregnant.”
“That’s good,” Sonny said.
“I wish it was that simple,” Elizabeth said.
“Okay, now you’ve got me a little worried,” Sonny said.
“Sonny please!” Elizabeth exclaimed. “This is already difficult, you’re not making it any easier.”
“Sorry,” Sonny said.
“Jason, I need you,” Elizabeth said.
Jason nodded and sat on the arm of the easy chair Elizabeth was sitting in, taking her hand.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said, as Jason squeezed her hand reassuringly. “It’s about Sorel.”
“Did he approach you?” Sonny asked. “Did he hurt you? Threaten you?”
“Not in the past few weeks. Sonny, this is about something that happened a long while ago,” Elizabeth said.
“I don’t understand,” Sonny said.
“Sonny, when I was kidnapped three years ago, Sorel raped me,” Elizabeth said slowly.
“What? That bastard did what? That pig forced himself on you and you waited three years to tell me?” Sonny exclaimed.
“Sonny, Sonny, calm down! You’re upsetting her.” Jason said, kneeling in front of Elizabeth and holding her as she cried.
“Oh Bella, I’m so sorry,” Sonny said, dropping to his knees and trying to get through to her. “I didn’t mean to get you worked up.”
“It’s alright. It’s alright,” Elizabeth said, pulling out of Jason’s embrace and brushing her tears away. “I just knew this was going to happen if I told you. I didn’t want you to be so angry that you did something crazy and got Taggert harassing you again.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Sonny asked.
“That’s why,” Elizabeth said. “I know how you get.”
“And Jason?” Sonny asked. “Why tell him?”
“That’s the other thing I needed to tell you,” Elizabeth said. “Jason and I are together. He had a right to know.”
“I’m your brother. I had a right to know,” Sonny said, struggling to keep calm.
“I’m not sleeping with you,” Elizabeth shot back.
Jason blushed and Sonny glared at him.
“Okay, okay, I’m not sleeping with Jason. Yet,” Elizabeth said.
Sonny shook his head and Elizabeth laughed.
“Now the question is…” Sonny said when it got quiet again. “What are we going to do about this?”
Chapter 9
“Now the question is…” Sonny said when it got quiet again. “What are we going to do about this?”
“We aren’t going to do anything,” Elizabeth said. “This is my fight, not yours.”
“Elizabeth, I know you want to take care of this yourself, but…” Sonny said.
“Sonny, look, this is about me,” Elizabeth said. “What Sorel did to me, only affected me.”
“No, it effects all of us,” Sonny said.
“You may feel angry and whatever, but he did this to me,” Elizabeth said. “And I want to be the one to give him what he deserves.”
“Elizabeth,” Jason said. “You can’t do this by yourself.”
“I can, and I will,” Elizabeth said. “Jason, we’ve started something good here. Don’t make this be a reason to end it so quickly.”
“I just, I don’t want to see anything happen to you,” Jason said.
“I’ll be careful. I’m always careful,” Elizabeth said.
“Can I get up from my nap now Daddy?” Michael asked, standing at the stop of the stairs.
“Sure,” Jason said. “You know, while we’re having serious discussions, maybe it’s time you and I had that one with Michael, Elizabeth.”
“Sounds like a good idea,” Elizabeth said. “Sonny, we’ll see you later.”
“Sure Bella,” Sonny said, kissing her forehead.
Sitting on the couch as Michael came down the stairs, Elizabeth winced.
“Shouldn’t your arm still be in that sling?” Jason asked, giving Michael his cup of juice.
“Probably,” Elizabeth said.
“Then why isn’t it?” Jason asked.
“It’s too constricting, I don’t like it,” Elizabeth said.
“Does it hurt?” Michael asked, sitting on the couch near her.
“A little,” Elizabeth said. “Jason, could you get me some aspirin?”
“Sure honey,” Jason said. “You know if you’re gonna take it, you might want to eat some food.”
“You’re probably right,” Elizabeth said, getting off the couch. “You take such good care of me.”
Jason smiled as she backed him into the hall, out of Michael’s view, and wrapped her good arm around his neck, leaning up to kiss him.
“Mm,” Jason groaned, wrapping one arm around her waist and burying the other hand in her chocolate curls.
“So,” Elizabeth said, pulling away. “What’s for lunch?”
Jason shook his head, smiling, and took Elizabeth’s hand as they walked back into the living room.
“Michael,” Jason said. “What do you want for lunch?”
“Peanut butter and jelly,” Michael said.
“How about a little variation on PB&J?” Elizabeth suggested.
“Sure,” Michael said, shrugging his shoulders.
“Okay,” Elizabeth said. “Jason can give me a hand, because I only have one right now, and you can read us a story.”
“Okay,” Michael said, grabbing a book and sitting on a stool in the kitchen.
“What are we making?” Jason asked.
“You’ll see,” Elizabeth said. “Get out the bread and the peanut butter. I just need some Fluff.”
“I don’t keep that stuff here,” Jason said.
“No, I do,” Elizabeth said with a laugh, reaching behind the coffee in the cabinet by the refrigerator.
Jason shook his head as Elizabeth dropped the container of Marshmallow Fluff in front of him, and took a knife from the drawer.
“Okay, how many sandwiches?” Jason asked, opening the bread.
“One for Michael, two for me, and however many for you,” Elizabeth replied, as Jason started taking bread out of the bag.
Together, Jason and Elizabeth made sandwiches, while Michael read to them from Jason’s book on Africa.
“What kind of sandwiches are these?” Michael asked when Elizabeth put a plate in front of him while Jason poured them all glasses of milk.
“Peanut butter and fluff,” Elizabeth said. “The first thing I learned to make, and not from Sonny.”
“It’s good,” Michael said, taking a big bite, his mouth full of peanut butter and fluff.
“Michael,” Jason said.
“Sorry,” Michael said, once he had swallowed.
“So, now seems like a good time to have that talk,” Jason said.
“Oh yeah,” Elizabeth said.
“Elizabeth’s gonna be my other mommy?” Michael asked happily.
Chapter 10
“So, now seems like a good time to have that talk,” Jason said.
“Oh yeah,” Elizabeth said.
“Elizabeth’s gonna be my other mommy?” Michael asked happily.
“Michael, honey, Carly is your mommy,” Elizabeth said.
“But Daddy and Jax are my daddies,” Michael said.
“Yes, but mommy and Jax are married,” Jason said, trying to figure out how to explain this to his son.
“Michael, do you call Jax daddy?” Elizabeth asked.
“No,” Michael said. “And I won’t call you mommy. But you and Daddy are like Mommy and Jax. And you read me stories and make me sandwiches, and tuck me in.”
“Well I think that if that’s how you want to think of me, there’s no harm in that,” Elizabeth said.
Michael smiled and hugged Elizabeth before going back to his sandwich.
“That was easy,” Jason said.
“You were just making it too difficult,” Elizabeth said, kissing his cheek and putting her plate in the sink.
******
Two days later…
“So what’s our next move on Sorel’s organization?” Jason asked.
“Carlos seems to have forgotten who he works for,” Sonny said. “I’d like you to remind him. And once you have, we’ll make a move against Sorel.”
“Done. How should we handle Carlos?” Jason asked.
“You and Elizabeth always work well together. I trust your judgment,” Sonny said.
“We’ll tell you when it’s done,” Jason said.
~~~~
“We have to go after Carlos,” Jason told Elizabeth later that day.
“Where is he?” Elizabeth asked.
“Benny tracked him back to Puerto Rico,” Jason replied.
“Oo, that little weasel,” Elizabeth said. “I swear, he has caused so much trouble, I’m gonna…”
“Easy, easy,” Jason said, putting his hands on her arms. “We’ll take care of it.”
“I know; he just pisses me off,” Elizabeth said.
“Carly and Jax will be back in a few hours. When they get back, we’ll make sure Michael is with them, and then we’ll leave,” Jason said.
“Mm, you and me in Puerto Rico,” Elizabeth said, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Elizabeth, this is a business trip,” Jason said.
“It doesn’t have to be all business,” she drawled, brushing her lips against his.
“Elizabeth,” he groaned, before pulling her against him and deepening the kiss, thrusting his tongue past her lips.
“Whoops,” Johnny said, seeing them when he opened the door. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Elizabeth said.
“Miss. Quartermaine to see you,” Johnny said.
“Hey Em,” Elizabeth said.
“Are you ready to go?” Emily asked.
“Lunch, right. I almost forgot,” Elizabeth said.
“If you’re busy we can…” Emily said.
“No, no,” Elizabeth said. “It’s actually perfect. Jason and I have to leave for business tonight; and this is a good time for us to get together before we go.”
“Okay then,” Emily said.
“We won’t be too long,” Elizabeth said, kissing Jason.
“Take your time,” Jason said.
“Bye Jase,” Emily said.
~~~~
“So, are you and my brother together?” Emily asked.
“We are,” Elizabeth said, smiling.
“That’s so great. You two make an adorable couple,” Emily said.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said.
“So, is this business dangerous?” Emily asked.
“Don’t worry about Jason and I,” Elizabeth said.
“Just be careful,” Emily said.
“We always are,” Elizabeth said.
“I know,” Emily replied.
Emily let it go, but still had an uneasy feeling that things wouldn’t go as smoothly as they had in the past.

Chapter 11
Late in the evening, Puerto Rico…
Jason and Elizabeth had just finished dinner downstairs in the restaurant and returned to their suite to discuss their game plan for dealing with Carlos.
“So does Carlos know we’re here?” Elizabeth asked.
“He’s probably figured it out,” Jason said.
“So what are we going to do?” Elizabeth asked.
“He’s got a meeting with one of Sorel’s contacts in the casino. If we break it up and take care of Sorel’s contact then we can have a chat with Carlos and remind him who’s in charge,” Jason said.
“Sounds like that’ll work fine,” Elizabeth said.
“Good,” Jason replied.
“So what time will all this go down?” Elizabeth asked.
“Meeting’s at 2, so hopefully we’ll be done before dinner,” Jason said.
“At least in time for dessert,” Elizabeth said.
Jason groaned as Elizabeth wrapped her arms around his neck and moved closely against him.
“Damn woman, what are you trying to do to me?” Jason groaned again.
“Just testing your will power,” she replied, her lips caressing his neck.
“I don’t have any when it comes to you,” Jason said, gently pulling her away from his neck so he could kiss her lips.
His mouth gently brushed hers, then teased her mouth open with his tongue. She moaned when his tongue explored her mouth then stroked hers.
The fire between them fueled, their tongues battled for control, but Elizabeth, devastated by his kiss, felt weak in the knees and gave into him, his arms wrapping around her waist tightly to keep her on her feet.
“Jason,” she breathed, when they broke for air. “Jason, I can’t wait anymore. I don’t want to wait until tomorrow. Make love to me, tonight, please.”
“Elizabeth,” he groaned, tightening his arms around her and backing her into the bedroom, kicking the door closed with his foot.
The door closing, Jason pushed Elizabeth against it. Elizabeth moaned as Jason’s lips made a path from her lips to her jaw line to her neck, and gasped when she felt his hardness pressed against her belly.
“Elizabeth, I don’t…” Jason said, pulling away suddenly, breathless. “I don’t have any protection.”
“Well you certainly know how to kill the mood,” Elizabeth said with a small laugh and sitting on the bed.
“I’m sorry,” Jason said, letting out a frustrated sigh, kneeling in front of her.
“It’s okay,” she replied with a smile, leaning down to brush her lips across his, her hair falling to brush his face.
“Elizabeth,” Jason groaned. “We can’t.”
“It’s safe Jason, I’m on the pill,” Elizabeth said.
“But we need…” Jason tried again.
“No,” Elizabeth said defiantly. “I don’t want anything between us Jason. No condoms; just you and me.”
Jason groaned at the thought of being inside her with nothing between them and knew that he couldn’t wait any longer to make love to her.
“I need you Elizabeth,” Jason said, his voice catching. “I need you now.”
“Yes,” Elizabeth replied, her voice breathy, her desire for Jason taking over.
Jason stood and pulled Elizabeth to him, taking her mouth again. Their kiss broke as Elizabeth fought to pull Jason’s tee shirt over his head. Their clothes being shed, one article at a time, Jason lifted Elizabeth into his arms and placed her on the bed after pulling the comforter and sheets down. He slid into bed beside her and pulled the sheet over them, their naked bodies making contact, stoking the fire between them, passion exploding.
Only a few moments passed before Jason had moved on top of her, parting her legs with his knee. His lips caressing her neck, Jason’s hand slid up her thigh, grazing her center. His body tightened when he felt her ready for him already, and Elizabeth begged for him to touch her. His thumb stroked the bead between her legs as he slid one, then two fingers inside her.
His lips met hers again and he thrust his tongue into her mouth, their tongues keeping the same rhythm as his fingers inside her. When he felt her getting close, he pulled his fingers from her and she moaned in disappointment. He knew it was cruel when she was so close to her orgasm, but he only wanted her to come once, with him inside her, coming with her.
“Jason,” Elizabeth said in disappointment.
“Sh,” Jason said softly, brushing his lips against hers lightly.
Jason moved between her legs and Elizabeth instinctively parted them further. Jason moved up slowly and entered her gently.
“Jason,” Elizabeth moaned.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” Jason said, stopping before her was all the way inside her.
“You won’t,” Elizabeth said. “Please Jason, make love to me.”
Jason smiled and kissed her nose making her giggle and then he slid deep inside her, causing them both to moan in pleasure. They quickly found their rhythm, though their pace was slow at first, but soon were moving faster closer to the edge.
“Jason,” Elizabeth said, her cries becoming louder as she was closer to coming. “Jason, Jason, Jason.”
“Elizabeth,” Jason cried when he came with her.
~~~~
“That was incredible,” Elizabeth said, laying in Jason’s arms a short time later.
“So incredible,” Jason said. “I love you Elizabeth.”
“I love you too,” Elizabeth said, smiling widely, happy that she could finally tell Jason the depth of her feelings for him.
“I love you so much Elizabeth,” Jason said again, kissing the top of her head as she drifted to sleep.
Chapter 12
The next morning, Jason and Elizabeth’s hotel suite, the bedroom…
“Morning,” Elizabeth said sleepily when she woke up to find Jason staring at her.
“Good morning,” Jason said, brushing his lips across hers.
He ran his tongue across her bottom lip, but she refused to open to him.
“Elizabeth,” he groaned in defeat.
“Not until we brush our teeth,” Elizabeth said. “Morning breath.”
“Alright, alright,” Jason said, slipping out of bed and pulling his boxers on.
Elizabeth smiled as she pulled Jason’s discarded tee shirt over her head and followed him into the bathroom.
~~~~
1:30 PM, downstairs in the casino…
“So, now what?” Elizabeth asked as she and Jason stepped off the elevator onto the casino floor.
“We’ve got half an hour,” Jason said. “Want to gamble?”
“Taking Sonny’s money? I can’t think of anything I’d like better,” Elizabeth said with a smile.
Jason shook his head and laughed as they approached a black jack table.
~~~~
Five minutes to 2:00 PM…
“You ready?” Jason asked.
“Let’s do this,” Elizabeth said, standing outside the door where Carlos had just disappeared behind to wait for Sorel’s man.
“That’s the guy,” Jason said, pointing out the well-dressed man in an expensive suit walking towards the back room where Carlos was.
“How do you want to handle this?” Elizabeth asked.
“We bust in and break up the meeting,” Jason said.
“Oh, wonderful plan Rambo; shoot first and when everybody’s dead we can ask what’s going on,” Elizabeth said, rolling her eyes.
“I’m going to get you for that crack later,” Jason said.
“Mm, I hope you do,” Elizabeth said.
“Let’s go,” Jason said, drawing his gun.
“Alright,” Elizabeth said, drawing hers. “Just don’t shoot everyone before we get some answers.”
“I won’t,” Jason said.
~~~~
“You can’t honestly expect to just get away with crossing Corinthos,” one of Carlos’ men, still hoping to remain loyal to Sonny.
“Corinthos is blind,” Carlos said.
“You jump to conclusions way too quickly,” Elizabeth said as she and Jason came through the door.
“Miss. Corinthos,” Carlos said, eyes wide.
“I think you need to stop talking,” Elizabeth said, cocking her gun. “Jason, clear the room and watch to door.”
“You’re going to take orders from that little bitch?” Carlos taunted Jason.
“Shut up,” Jason said, grabbing his arm and pushing him roughly into a chair, tying him to it, while Elizabeth made sure that Carlos’ assistant was still loyal to Sonny, which she’d been fairly sure he was.
Sorel’s man saw the two guns trained on him and knew not to make a move. When Carlos was restrained, Jason turned to Sorel’s man and did the same.
“Now what?” Jason asked.
“Now we ask questions and they give us answers,” Elizabeth said.
“What about this one?” Jason asked, motioning to Carlos’ man.
“He’s clean,” Elizabeth said. “He’ll be free to go back to working for Sonny as soon as this is all over.”
“Alright,” Jason said.
“So Carlos, what exactly was your plan?” Elizabeth asked. “And did you honestly think you could get away with it?”
“Corinthos is too weak to control his territory. You and Morgan are doing all the work, physical, brainwork, whatever. You two are the only reason is business still runs,” Carlos said.
“You know you talk a lot of @#%$ for someone with a gun to your head,” Elizabeth said. “Are you going to tell me something useful?”
“Are you going to kill me?” Carlos asked.
“Yes,” Elizabeth said knowingly.
“Then why should I tell you @#%$?” Carlos spat.
“Because what you tell me will weight heavily on how I kill you,” Elizabeth said as Jason smirked.
Chapter 13
“So Carlos, what exactly was your plan?” Elizabeth asked. “And did you honestly think you could get away with it?”
“Corinthos is too weak to control his territory. You and Morgan are doing all the work, physical, brainwork, whatever. You two are the only reason is business still runs,” Carlos said.

“Are you going to kill me?” Carlos asked.
“Yes,” Elizabeth said knowingly.
“Then why should I tell you @#%$?” Carlos spat.
“Because what you tell me will weight heavily on how I kill you,” Elizabeth said as Jason smirked.
Knowing what the Corinthos girl was capable of, Carlos was beginning to be overcome by his fear and actually wet his pants.
“Poor bladder control, I hate that,” Elizabeth said shaking her head. “So…what do you have for me?”
She glanced at Jason, who smirked, satisfied, and then turned back to Carlos.
“I’m waiting,” Elizabeth said, cocking her gun, still held at Carlos’s temple.
“Alright, alright,” Carlos said. “Just please…don’t kill me.”
“I can’t promise that,” Elizabeth said, uncocking her gun and tucking it in her jeans again. “But just remember this; I am judge, jury, and executioner, so state your case and make it good.”
“So what made you think you could take over Sonny’s territory?” Elizabeth asked.
“Corinthos has gone soft since he got married and his wife got pregnant,” Carlos said, explaining his reasoning. “He’d do anything to protect his wife and kid.”
“Wouldn’t you?” Elizabeth asked. “So what was your plan? Team up with Sorel and take Sonny down? You had to know Jason and I would never let that happen.”
“I had a pretty good idea that you’d try; I never realized how strong you are. I guess I underestimated you,” Carlos said.
“Yeah, it’s a safe bet to say you did,” Elizabeth said. “So did you have an exact plan mapped out?”
“Sorel did, but he never told me,” Carlos said. “To be honest, I had my suspicions that he was using me for information’s purposes; there’s a pretty good chance that I could’ve ended up dead at the end of it.”
“So why get involved with him in the first place?” Jason asked, finally speaking up.
“I don’t know,” Carlos replied.
“Carlos, you really are dumber than I thought,” Elizabeth said, shaking her head.
“Look, I made a mistake, I know that. But it won’t happen again,” Carlos insisted.
“You know, for some reason, I actually believe you,” Elizabeth said. “So here’s what I’m going to do. You will remain here, in Puerto Rico, keeping tabs on Sonny’s territory here, but you will be closely monitored, and you make no decisions without consulting Sonny, Jason, or myself. And remember what I said about judge, jury, and executioner, because next time I have to come down here to clean up your mess, there will be an execution. Do we understand each other?”
“Perfectly, Miss. Corinthos,” Carlos said.
“Good,” Elizabeth said, untying him. “Your assistant who had no problems remembering who signs his paychecks will be reporting to me directly. One wrong move and I’ll hear about it before you even have a chance to make it.”
“We won’t have any problems,” Carlos said.
“That’s what I like to hear,” Elizabeth said. “Don’t make me have to come back down here. Jason, let’s go.”
~~~~
When Jason and Elizabeth had vacated the room, Jason turned to her.
“Are you sure about this?” Jason asked. “You’re still leaving Carlos with a lot of power.”
“He’s on a short leash, he doesn’t have far to stray,” Elizabeth assured him.
“Okay then,” Jason said, knowing he could trust her judgment. “So, what now?”
“I wanted to get home as soon as possible, so we just have to get the jet fueled and we can head back to Port Charles,” Elizabeth said. “Besides, I know you have a surprise for Michael, don’t you?”
“How did you know about that?” Jason asked.
“I have my ways,” Elizabeth said suggestively, wrapping her arms around his neck and brushing her lips against his.
“So, do you think you might want to join us?” Jason asked.
“Well, since you asked so nicely,” Elizabeth said. “Are you sure Michael won’t mind?”
“He asked you to be like another mother to him, didn’t he?” Jason asked.
“Yes,” Elizabeth said.
“He’ll love it if you come along,” Jason insisted.
“And Carly has no problems with this?” Elizabeth asked.
“You ask way too many questions,” Jason said, before kissing her to silence her.
Several hours later, the plane touched down in Port Charles and Jason and Elizabeth took the waiting limo to Harborview Towers.
When they got back, they immediately checked in with Sonny, who was pleased with the outcome. When they finished, they returned to Elizabeth’s penthouse.
“Your stuff’s been all packed up,” Jason said, looking around at the stacks of boxing in the living room.
“Well, I figured since I was moving in with you, I’d clear out my penthouse for someone else,” Elizabeth said.
“For who?” Jason asked.
“Emily,” Elizabeth replied. “And Johnny.”
“Oh no. No way. They are not moving in together,” Jason said.
“Jason, Emily is an adult and she and Johnny are in love,” Elizabeth said.
“But I…” Jason said.
“I’ll make you a deal,” Elizabeth said. “You let that move in together without a hassle, and I promise, I’ll keep you too occupied to even notice that they’re there.”
“Mm, I like that,” Jason said, pulling her into his arms to kiss her.
Getting caught up in the kiss, Jason started walking Elizabeth towards the couch, but she pulled away, needing to breathe.
“Jason,” she said breathlessly. “We have to pick up Michael.”
“I know, but I…” Jason said.
“We’ll have plenty of time while we’re away,” Elizabeth said.
“But Michael will be…” Jason said.
“We have a suite Jason,” Elizabeth said. “It’s no different than him sleeping at your penthouse in his bedroom and us making love in ours.”
“Okay, I get your point,” Jason said. “I just…I wanted you.”
“You always do,” Elizabeth said, brushing her lips against hers and slapping his butt as she headed for the door.
~~~~
“Lizbeth,” Michael said excitedly, running towards her as Jason came in the door behind her.
“Hi Michael,” Elizabeth said, picking the redheaded boy up.
“Did you two have a good trip?” Carly asked.
“It was fine,” Jason said, kissing Carly’s cheek.
“So Michael, your Daddy and I have a surprise for you,” Elizabeth said.
“What kind of surprise?” Michael asked.
“It’s the kind of surprise where you pack some things in a suitcase and you take a plane to a special place,” Elizabeth explained.
“And you and Daddy will be there too?” Michael asked.
“Yes, Elizabeth and I are coming with you,” Jason replied. “Now, your mom already packed your suitcase, so it’s time to go.”
“Are we gonna take Sonny’s big car to Sonny’s big plane?” Michael asked.
“Yes, the limo is waiting outside,” Jason said.
“Where are we taking it?” Michael asked.
“We’re taking it to the airport and we’re taking Sonny’s plane on a vacation,” Elizabeth said.
“Where are we going?” Michael asked, jumping up and down, no longer able to contain his excitement.
“You’ll see when we get there,” Jason replied.
“Jason, that’s not nice,” Elizabeth said, slapping his arm playfully. “Now Michael, I’m not going to tell you, but I’ll give you a hint.”
“What is it? What is it?” Michael asked, taking the wrapped package from Elizabeth.
“Open it,” Elizabeth said with a smile.
Michael tore at the wrapping paper until it was all gone, revealing a stuffed toy.
Wide-eyed and excited, Michael said, “Are we going to Mickey’s house?”
“Yes Michael, we’re going to Mickey’s house,” Elizabeth replied as the little boy hugged him, then his father. “Now, go look in your room and make sure your mom didn’t forget anything and then we have to get going.”
“Okay,” Michael said before running up the stairs.
“Thank you for doing this for him,” Carly said. “I know he’ll have a good time.”
“He’ll have a great time,” Elizabeth said. “And we’re going to spoil him rotten.”
“I’m ready,” Michael said, dragging his pillow and his new Mickey Mouse stuffed animal down the stairs behind him.
“Kiss your mother good-bye,” Jason said.
Michael did and then reclaimed his pillow and Mickey Mouse while Jason picked up both of Michael’s small suitcases.
“We’ll talk to you soon,” Jason said as he walked out the door, Michael and Elizabeth in front of him.
“Have a great trip,” Carly said.

Several hours later…
Sonny’s plane arrived and landed at Orlando International Airport and Jason, Elizabeth and Michael took a short limo ride to their hotel.
Jason got them checked in and they got settled in their suite at the Contemporary Resort.
“So where do you want to go first Michael?” Elizabeth asked.
“Magic Kingdom,” Michael replied.
“Okay,” Elizabeth said. “Then let’s get going.”

Fifteen minutes later, Jason, Michael and Elizabeth got off the monorail in the Magic Kingdom.
“Wow,” Michael said, when he stepped onto Main Street and looked around.
“You like it?” Jason asked.
“Thank you Daddy,” Michael said, hugging his father, then Elizabeth.
“So where do we start?” Elizabeth asked.
“Michael?” Jason said.
“Pirates,” Michael exclaimed excitedly.
“Okay, Pirates of the Caribbean it is,” Elizabeth said, glancing at a park map to see where the ride was located.
~~~~
“That was so cool,” Michael said when they got off the ride. “What can we do now?”
“Whatever you want,” Jason said.
“Space Mountain!” Michael said.
They walked to Tomorrowland and joined they fairly short line at Space Mountain.
“Hey cool, it’s in the dark,” Michael said.
“Is he big enough for this?” Jason asked.
“Yes,” Elizabeth said. “He’s big enough for all the rides here.”
“Okay,” Jason said.
The line moved along and ten minutes later, Jason, Elizabeth and Michael were getting into a rocket ship roller coaster car.
“Ready Michael?” Elizabeth asked right before they took off.
“Yeah!” Michael said excitedly.
Their car took off and for three minutes they sped along the track, in the dark.
When they pulled back into the station, they climbed out and made their way to the exit.
“I want to go again,” Michael said.
“Later, definitely,” Elizabeth said. “But why don’t we try some other things first? We just got here.”
“I’m hot,” Michael complained as they walked through the park.
“Do you want to take a rest and cool off a bit?” Elizabeth asked.
“Can we do Splash Mountain?” Michael asked.
“Sure,” Elizabeth said, before turning to Jason. “You don’t mind getting wet, do you?”
“Whatever Michael wants,” Jason said.
“Come on, let’s go,” Michael said, taking both their hands and leading them in the direction of Splash Mountain.
~~~~
When they got off Splash Mountain, they were all slightly damp, but not too much so. Getting off the ride, they took the walk around and up to the bridge.
“Oh wait, can we watch that boat coming down?” Michael asked, stopping in the middle of the bridge.
“Sure Michael,” Jason said.
“Cool,” Michael said, as the boat was about to go down.
“Here it comes,” Elizabeth said.
They watched as the boat dropped and then a large wave of water rose and moved in their direction.
When the water had fallen, Jason and Elizabeth looked at each other, and then at Michael. They were now all soaking wet.
“Well that was interesting,” Jason said.
“Again, again; let’s do it again,” Michael said.
Before they could answer him, another boat dropped and they were hit with another wave of water.
“That is so cool,” Michael said.
“Oh yeah, so cool,” Jason said, rolling his eyes as he rang out his sopping wet tee shirt and checked to make sure his cell phone still worked.

Chapter 16
“Well that was interesting,” Jason said as the boat continued back to the station and he looked around at the soaked people on the bridge.
“Again, again; let’s do it again,” Michael said.
Before they could answer him, another boat dropped and they were hit with another wave of water.

Later that night, after Michael had gone to bed, exhausted from running around the Magic Kingdom all day.
“He’s sound asleep,” Jason said.
“Well, its way past his bedtime,” Elizabeth said. “But he had fun. Have you dried off sufficiently yet?”
“I’ve been dry for a while now,” Jason said.
“Well, tomorrow is water park day, so don’t plan on staying too dry,” Elizabeth said.
“Water park day? You in a bathing suit? Hmm, I think I can handle that,” Jason said, leaning over her, pinning her to the couch and nuzzling her neck.
“Jase…Jason, Michael’s in the bedroom only…” Elizabeth said.
“We’ll take it into the bedroom then,” Jason said.
“Jason, are you…” Elizabeth said.
“We’ll be quiet,” Jason said, lifting her up and carrying her into the bedroom, closing the door behind him.
Kissing her, Jason placed Elizabeth on the bed and went to his bag for protection.
“Damn it!” Jason said, then remembering to keep his voice down.
“Jason, what’s wrong?” Elizabeth asked.
“I didn’t bring condoms,” Jason said, turning back to look at Elizabeth.
“It’s alright, it’s safe,” Elizabeth said.
“Elizabeth, I want to, but we…” Jason said.
“No, no, baby I’m on pill,” Elizabeth said. “I love it when we make love without a condom.”
“Elizabeth,” Jason groaned, moving over her.
“I want you,” she said.
Jason’s mouth slanted over hers and he kissed her deeply, his tongue slipping past her lips as he laid her back against the pillows.
“I want you Jason,” Elizabeth said when they broke for air.
“What do you want? Tell me what you want,” Jason asked.
“Touch me,” Elizabeth said.
He pulled her panties down her legs and slid his hand up her smooth legs, treading closer to her center. He slipped two fingers into her and Elizabeth bucked against him. His other hand cupped her breast through the material of the tee shirt of Jason’s she’d put on for bed, as he dragged his thumb across her nipple, hardening it before moving to her other breast as his fingers kept a rhythm inside her.
“Jason, I’m so close,” Elizabeth said, her voice soft and breathy.
“Let go,” Jason coaxed her gently. “Just let go for me baby.”
“Jason,” she moaned as she went over the edge.
“I need to be inside you,” Jason said, pulling the tee shirt over Elizabeth’s head.
“I want you; I want you inside me,” Elizabeth said, pushing his boxer briefs off his hips so Jason could kick them off with his feet.
Kissing her, Jason moved over her, positioning himself at her opening.
“I love you,” Elizabeth said, when she felt his tip at her center.
“I love you,” Jason replied as he slid into her.
He stilled for a moment and they relished in the feeling of being connected so intimately before Jason began to move inside her. He thrust deeper and faster until they were both close, and they came together, kissing to silence their cries.
Jason kissed Elizabeth’s forehead as he gathered her into his arms. They lay in each other’s arms for a little while before dressing, knowing that Michael would be bounding into the room at the crack of dawn the next morning.
~~~~
Sure enough, at just after six-thirty the next morning, Michael came bounding into the room, and jumped on the bed, successfully waking Elizabeth, causing Jason, who was already awake, to laugh.
“Good morning,” Michael said. “Water park time.”
“Michael, it’s not even seven o’clock yet,” Elizabeth said.
“The sun’s out,” Michael said.
“Okay, how about this?” Elizabeth said. “The park opens at nine. Why don’t we all take showers, put our bathing suits and things on, have a nice breakfast at the restaurant downstairs, and by then, we’ll be ready to go to Blizzard Beach.”
“Let’s get started on that then,” Jason said. “Elizabeth, do you want to go first?”
“Sure,” Elizabeth said.
“Daddy, can we watch cartoons while we wait?” Michael asked.
“Whatever you want,” Jason said, looking at Elizabeth as she disappeared into the bathroom.
Jason and Elizabeth returned to Port Charles with Michael a week later. Things seemed to be quiet, though the Corinthos penthouse was crazy since Alexis was due in a week and a half.
“Sonny, relax,” Elizabeth said. “You’re making yourself crazy, and you’re making Alexis crazy. Everything is ready for when the baby comes, so stop worrying.”
“I know, I know,” Sonny said.
“Look, all you need to think about is Alexis and the baby,” Elizabeth said. “Jason and I will start dealing with Sorel.”
“Bella, you have to promise me you’ll be careful,” Sonny said.
“I can take care of myself,” Elizabeth said. “I’ll be fine.”
“Alright,” Sonny said. “But the minute…”
“Sonny, we’ll handle it,” Jason said, coming into the room.
“I know you will,” Sonny said.
“Sonny,” Alexis said, slowly making her way down the stairs.
“Alexis, what’s wrong?” Elizabeth said, seeing her sister-in-law’s pain-stricken face.
“I’m…having…contractions,” Alexis said, her hand on her very pregnant belly as she gritting her teeth.
“Oh my God, okay, okay, she’s in labor. Stay calm,” Sonny said, beginning to ramble to himself.
“Sonny, she’s fine,” Elizabeth said. “Just tell Johnny to go get the car. Jason, run upstairs and get the bag Alexis packed. Alexis, we’re gonna walk slowly to the elevator.”
“Oka…oh, oh, damn it, contraction,” Alexis said.
“You’re doing fine, just breathe sweetie,” Elizabeth said, squeezing her hand.
“Get this kid out of me,” Alexis said.
“We’re gonna get you to GH. Just keep breathing,” Elizabeth said.
“I’ve got the bag,” Jason said, running back down the stairs.
“Are you coming with us?” Elizabeth asked Jason.
“Yeah, Michael’s in school. And Carly’s going to pick him up later,” Jason said.
“Johnny’s getting the car,” Sonny said.
“And we’re walking to the elevator,” Elizabeth said.
“Damn it, Sonny, you are sleeping on the couch for the rest of our marriage! You are never touching me again! I hate you for doing this to me!” Alexis yelled.
“Ignore her,” Elizabeth told Sonny. “She doesn’t mean any of it.”
“Oh yes I do. You think you’re so smart, you have the kid,” Alexis said as they got on the elevator.
~~~~
Ten minutes later, General Hospital’s Emergency Room entrance…
“How far apart was this contraction from the last one?” Elizabeth asked Jason, who was glancing at his watch.
“Four and a half minutes,” Jason said.
“Okay, I think it’s pretty close. Can you walk inside?” Elizabeth asked.
“A little, I think,” Alexis said. “Oh, oh, wait. I…I have to…I have to push.”
“No, no, you can’t push yet,” Elizabeth said.
“I have to. The baby’s coming; I can feel it,” Alexis said.
“Alexis, I need you to sit back for a minute,” Elizabeth said. “Jason, turn your head that way.”
Jason nodded and did as Elizabeth asked, while Elizabeth was checking to see if Alexis was feeling what she thought.
“Oh @#%$,” Elizabeth said. “I see a head. God damn it, I see a @#%$ head! Alexis, you know I love you, but I can’t deliver my niece or nephew. Jason, go get a stretcher and a doctor and tell them to hurry!”
Jason ran out of the limo and inside as Sonny began followed.
“Oh no,” Elizabeth said. “You’re staying right here, and you’re going to hold Alexis’s hand. I don’t care if she breaks every bone on there. If I’m delivering your kid, you’re going to suffer through it.”
“But I…” Sonny said.
“Don’t move,” Alexis said, tightening the grip she had on Sonny’s hand.
“Okay, now Alexis, I see the head, I need you to push,” Elizabeth said.
“I got Bobbie,” Jason said, running back over. “Someone’s getting a doctor.”
“Bobbie, the head is out,” Elizabeth said. “We can’t move her now.”
“Okay, you’re doing fine Elizabeth. I’m going to walk you through it. I’m right here with you every step of the way, okay?” Bobbie said. “Alexis, I want you to breathe for a minute and then you’re going to push again, okay?”
Alexis nodded and Elizabeth smiled, trying to reassure her that she could do this.
“Okay, you’re going to push now,” Bobbie said. “Elizabeth, you’re doing fine, just guide the shoulders out.”
“Bobbie, it’s not stopping. This baby is on its way out,” Elizabeth said.
“You’re right. He or she is definitely in a hurry,” Bobbie said. “Just watch the feet. Good, good. One more. And that’s it.”
A baby’s cry pierced the air and Alexis felt tears in her eyes.
“It’s a girl,” Elizabeth said, as the doctor ran out to the parking lot.
“Oh, she’s beautiful,” Alexis said.
The newborn Corinthos daughter was wrapped in a clean blanket as Alexis was carefully moved to a stretcher. Her daughter was placed in her arms and they moved quickly to get her the baby upstairs.
“Thank you,” Sonny said, hugging his sister before rushing off behind his wife and daughter.
“You did a great job Elizabeth,” Bobbie said. “Why don’t you come inside and get cleaned up?”
“Thanks,” Elizabeth said.
“I can’t believe you did that,” Jason said as they walked inside.
“You could’ve done it if you had to,” Elizabeth said.
“I love you,” Jason said.
“I love you too,” Elizabeth said, leaning over to brush his lips against hers, but not wanting to get his clothes bloody.
“Here, you can put these on after you wash up,” Bobbie said, handing her a fresh pair of scrubs.
“I’ll be back in a minute,” Elizabeth said. “As soon as I’m dressed we can go upstairs to see Alexis and the baby.”
“I’ll be waiting,” Jason said, as Elizabeth headed into the doctor’s lounge to get washed up and changed.

~~~~
Fifteen minutes later, Elizabeth came out of lounge dressed in a pair of scrubs.
“Bobbie just came by. Alexis and Sonny are in a room now, so we can go see them and the baby,” Jason told her.
“Good,” Elizabeth said, taking his hand. “Let’s go.”
When they got upstairs, they knocked on the door and heard Sonny calling them inside.
“Hey,” Elizabeth said. “How’s everyone feeling?”
“Tired, mostly,” Alexis replied.
“She’s beautiful,” Elizabeth said.
“We named her after you Bella,” Sonny said. “After all, you are responsible for bringing her into the world.”
“Well, I wasn’t entirely responsible,” Elizabeth said. “But thank you. What is her name?”
“Isabella Kristine Adella Corinthos,” Alexis said, the name rolling perfectly off her tongue.
“Well, that’s certainly a mouthful,” Elizabeth said. “But it’s beautiful.”
“Would you like to hold her?” Sonny asked.
“Please,” Elizabeth replied.
Sonny took Isabella from Alexis and carefully placed her in Elizabeth’s arms.
“She’s so tiny,” Elizabeth said, looking at Sonny and Alexis.
“She’s perfect,” Alexis replied.
“Hello there, Bella. That’s what your daddy calls me too, but it suits you very well,” Elizabeth said, talking to her niece softly. “So Isabella, you’ve been born into a wonderful family, full of people who will love you and protect you.”
As Elizabeth spoke, Jason found himself watching her intently, thinking about what it would be like to see Elizabeth holding their child.
“I know what you’re thinking,” Sonny said, catching the look on his best friend’s face. “And forget it.”
“Sonny, what are you talking about?” Elizabeth asked, placing Isabella back in Alexis’s arms.
“Jason knows, that’s the important thing,” Sonny said.
“Okay then,” Elizabeth said, rolling her eyes. “Well, we should get going; give you two some time with Isabella.”
“Okay,” Alexis said. “Thank you Elizabeth, for everything.”
“You’re welcome,” Elizabeth said, taking Jason’s hand. “And congratulations, she’s beautiful.”
“Thank you,” Sonny said, as Elizabeth and Jason walked out the door.
~~~~
On the way home, in the limo…
“So, are you planning on telling me what Sonny was yelling at you for?” Elizabeth asked.
“He wasn’t yelling,” Jason said.
“But you apparently were thinking something that didn’t make it happy? Would you like to share what that thought was?” Elizabeth asked.
“It was nothing,” Jason said.
“Okay, well since you’re being tight-lipped, I’ll let it go,” Elizabeth said.
“Baby, I’m not hiding anything, it’s just…well I don’t know where the thought came from, and I’d feel awkward sharing it with you,” Jason said.
“Jason, it’s alright, I understand,” Elizabeth said.
“You know what? This is stupid. I can tell you anything,” Jason said.
“Yes, you can,” Elizabeth said.
“When you were holding Isabella, I was thinking about what it would be like if you were holding our child,” Jason said, causing Elizabeth’s eyes to widen in surprise.
Chapter 19
“When you were holding Isabella, I was thinking about what it would be like if you were holding our child,” Jason said, causing Elizabeth’s eyes to widen in surprise.
“Jason,” she said softly.
“Now, I don’t mean right now,” Jason said. “I’m selfish. I want you to myself a while longer. I just mean that one day I want to have a family with you.”
“I want that too,” Elizabeth said. “I definitely want that too.”
Jason smiled and they rode back to the penthouse the rest of the way in silence, both thinking about their future together.
Little did they know that Sorel had other plans for the Corinthos-Morgan families.
~~~~
Three months later…
After spending most of the afternoon doing paperwork at the warehouse, Elizabeth headed to Michael’s school to pick him up, as Jason was at a meeting and Carly and Jax were out of town.
“Hi Lizabeth,” Michael said, as he walked towards her, his guard Marco following closely behind.
“Did you have a good day?” Elizabeth asked him.
“Yeah, and I don’t even have any homework,” Michael replied excitedly.
They were about two feet from the car when Elizabeth heard a groan and saw Marco fall to the ground. Before she could react, two other men grabbed her and another grabbed Michael.
~~~~
“Well I must say, you didn’t put up the fight I thought you would,” a voice said.
“Sorel, you’ve got me; you don’t need Michael,” Elizabeth said.
“You’re right. I don’t need Michael. That was a mistake on my men’s part,” Sorel said.
“So let Michael go,” Elizabeth said.
“I plan to. And you’re going to return him,” Sorel said.
“Now that’s just stupid,” Elizabeth said.
“Not exactly,” Sorel said, pulling her up. “You’ll be wearing this.”
Elizabeth did not openly react, not wanting to give Sorel the satisfaction of seeing her fear, but when she saw the bomb strapped to a vest, she knew that not only were she and Michael in danger, but everyone at Harborview Towers the moment she walked in, would be in danger as well.
“Get a move on now,” Sorel said, watching Elizabeth slowly put the vest on. “And remember, I’ll hear everything. One wrong move and … BOOM!”
Elizabeth eyes darkened at the sick smile on Sorel’s face, but then she remembered Michael.
“Where’s Michael?” she asked. “I want to see him. Now.”
“Lizabeth!” Michael said, running towards her when the door opened.
“No, no,” she said, holding him back from hugging her. “Just hold my hand; I’m taking you home.”
“Zip up,” Sorel said, tossing her her jacket. “It’s gonna be cold.”
Elizabeth pulled the jacket on and zipped it closed, covering the vest, and then took Michael’s hand.
~~~~
“We’ve still heard nothing,” Jason said. “Damn it, where are they?”
“Marco, did you see anything?” Sonny asked.
“I was hit from behind, but I saw two other guys grab Michael and Elizabeth,” Marco replied.
“Did you recognize them?” Sonny asked.
“They work for Sorel,” Marco replied.
“That son of a bitch!” Jason yelled.
“We’ll get them back Jason,” Sonny said.
“We have to,” Jason said, looking at Sonny, his voice lowering. “You know what he did to her.”
“I know,” Sonny said. “We’ll get them back.”
~~~~
“Lizabeth, are we going home?” Michael asked, as they rode the elevator to the penthouse floor.
“You are,” Elizabeth replied.
The elevator doors opened and Elizabeth and Michael stepped out.
“Jesus, where have you been?” Johnny asked.
Elizabeth said nothing, but put a finger to her lips and pointed to the microphone attached to her jacket.
Johnny went in first, hoping to warn Sonny and Jason to watch what they said. Once he had, he opened the door to let them in.
“Michael, are you alright?” Jason asked, picking up his son.
“Bella,” Sonny said.
“I’m fine,” Elizabeth said, holding him back.
“What’s wrong?” Jason asked, putting Michael down.
“I have to go,” Elizabeth said.
“You can’t go back there,” Jason said.
Elizabeth pointed to Michael and then to upstairs and Sonny had Marco take him out of the room.
Once he was gone, she put a finger to her lips and unzipped her coat.
“I’m sorry,” she mouthed silently.
She turned to leave, zipping up her coat again, and Jason and Sonny stood frozen, unable to stop her from returning to Sorel.
“I have to go,” she said.
Sonny reached for the pad on his desk and quickly wrote ‘be careful’.
Elizabeth nodded and then turned to Jason.
“I love you,” she mouthed.
“I love you too,” he mouthed back.
She blew him a kiss and quickly turned to exit the penthouse, rezipping her coat as she left.
