Thank you Melinda for another gorgeous banner!! Hi everyone! So here's my other story. Again, if you read this at the GQ source, I rewrote it, so enjoy the new version. I'm always critical about my writing so I reread this and thought it was horrible and decided to rewrite. If you're new to it, Enjoy it! Chapter One Lunch at Port Charles High school was the best period of the day for almost all of its students. A chance to give your mind a break from the classes sounded wonderful. Plus you got to eat and talk. Georgie Jones, Dillon Quartermaine, Jesse Beaudry, and Brooke Lynn Ashton were sitting at a round table inside the large, but crowded, cafeteria enjoying the last fifteen minutes of their free time before heading back to classes. The topic of discussion for the four friends was movies. “I’m thinking a horror flick marathon Friday night,” Dillon suggested. He gave his childhood friend a high five who nodded in agreement. Jesse and Dillon met in the first grade when Jesse moved into Port Charles. He was the only child of his single mother. They weren’t wealthy like the Quartermaine’s but that didn’t matter to Dillon. Loyalty and enjoyment were more important in his life. “Sounds awesome,” Jesse exclaimed. Brooke shook her head and shot Dillon a stern look. “We watched Carrie two weeks ago; I am not up for a marathon of movies like that. I hate scary movies,” Jesse put his arm around Brooke and gave her a comforting squeeze. “Baby, I’ll protect you, I’m promise,” he chuckled. She swatted his chest. Jesse and Brooke had been dating for over a year, something rare in high school. They weren’t the most conventional couple, considering the bickered more often then they got along, but that’s what made their relationship last. “Georgie, back me up here,” Dillon asked. Dillon and Georgie were best friends. Everyone at PC High knew that. Their families knew that. So did their friends. They had been friends since they were little. It helped since their babysitters were best friends as well. Emily used to watch Brooke and Dillon and Elizabeth babysat Georgie. Play dates between three friends were frequent. And Jesse joined the mix soon after. What Georgie wasn’t aware of was Dillon’s apparent crush on his best friend. Georgie’s mind wasn’t on the conversation for the following day’s plans. Her mind wandered to back when the four friends were little. Back when life was much simpler. *FLASHBACK* It was a sunny day in June. School had just let out. Liz and Emily were sitting on the Scorpio’s patio in their backyard. Georgie ran out of her playhouse with Brooke behind her. Her pigtails bounced around as she skipped over towards Jesse and Dillon. “Dillon! Come play house with us!” Georgie said threw her toothless mouth. “I don’t want to play house! I’m sick of house! Let’s play soldiers!” Dillon replied back to her. “Yeah, we don’t want to play house!” Jesse said sticking his tongue out. “No! That’s no fun! We’re playing house!” Brooke stated. “Now, come to tea, Dillon,” Georgie added. Dillon rolled his eyes as he walked over to the little table with Jesse behind him. He grabbed the pretend cup of tea and grumbled under his breath. Emily and Elizabeth watched from the porch laughing. “Why can’t Lucky and Nikolas be like that? Always listening to their girls,” Emily said. Liz laughed at her remark. “Now I am the mommy and you are the daddy,” Brooke said to Jesse. “Can I be a secret agent who gets shot?” Jesse asked getting excited. “No,” Brooke said sternly. Jesse pouted. “Who am I?” Georgie asked. “You are the daughter,” Brooke said, “And Dillon is your boyfriend,” Dillon and Georgie looked at each other. “Eww!!” they both said in unison.*END FLASHBACK* “Earth to Georgie,” Brooke said and laughed. “Where was your head just now?” Jesse asked. “She was thinking about me in my bathing suit,” Dillon said and stretched showing off his apparent muscles. “I was just thinking about…nothing…I’ll be right back,” she quickly got up from the table and headed to the bathroom unaware that Brooke was behind her. She looked in the mirror at the fading bruise on the side of her arm. She pulled some makeup out of her purse and applied it to the black and blue mark. Even though it was winter, that didn’t mean short sleeve shirts were out of the picture. Brooke saw the bruise Georgie was trying to cover up and her eyes grew wide, “What the heck happened to you!?” “Nothing…I just ran into the door or something,” she mumbled and threw her compact back into her bag. Brooke stared at her friend, not satisfied with the excuse. “Did Garrett do that to you?” she folded her arms. Georgie sighed and nodded. “He grabbed my arm at the party last weekend a little too tightly. No one said dating a football player was easy,” she chuckled, “Sometimes he doesn’t know his own strength,” “Stop lying to me, Georgie. You told me that if he ever did that to you again, you were going to break up with him,” “I chickened out. Sue me,” she started to head out of the bathroom, avoiding Brooke. But she didn’t have any luck. “Georgie, I am just looking out for you. You deserve so much better than this. He is a lying, cheating, drunkard of a boyfriend. He doesn’t love you. He just wants to sleep with you to prove something to his teammates,” Brooke tried to explain for the hundredth time it seemed. Georgie turned around and faced Brooke, “You are one of my best friends, and I respect your opinions, but it is my life. My life! Ok?” The bell for the next period rang. Georgie was thankful for it meant she could go home. Being a senior with early leave was one of the awesome perks. “I know it’s your life, but I don’t want to see you get hurt anymore,” Brooke tried to intervene. Georgie sighed, her friend was right. She did deserve better, “I will talk to him tomorrow. Ok?” “Break up with him and it will be ok,” Brooke said stubbornly. She couldn’t help but hate that guy. “I will talk to him,” “Georgie, just be careful. Ok?” “I’ll be fine. Don’t worry,” she smiled and hugged Brooke.

Chapter Two
Georgie rolled out of bed to a quiet house. It wasn’t rare on a weekend for this. Mac always headed to the station early and her mom hadn’t been heard from in almost three years. She headed into the bathroom and into the shower. The hot water felt good against her stiff joints. Sleep had not come easy to her the night before. Her mind had been all over the place.
She stepped out after a few minutes and dried off. She changed into a long sleeve shirt and pair of jeans. She put her hair in a messy bun and walked down to make some breakfast. She popped two pieces of toast into the toaster and dialed the familiar cell phone number.
“Hello?” Dillon asked as he picked up his cell phone inside Kelly’s. He was sitting at a table eating breakfast with Emily.
“Hey, Dillon. It’s Georgie. Um… I was just calling to say that I might be late for movie night tonight. I have to talk to Garrett and I don’t know how long it is going to take,”
“Georgie, is everything ok?”
“Yeah, we just have to discuss some stuff,” Georgie said sighing.
“Georgie, you can always talk to me. You do know that right?”
“Of course Dillon. I have to go. My toast is burning. Adios,” Georgie said and hung up her phone.
Dillon placed his phone on the table and looked at Emily. “So what’s up with Georgie? Is everything ok?” she asked biting into her French toast.
Dillon took a sip of his coffee and began to explain everything to Emily. “Georgie has to talk to her jerk of a boyfriend and she might be late to our movie marathon. I hope she dumps his ungrateful ass,” he stabbed his pancakes and cut them into chunks.
“You really care about her don’t you?” Emily asked.
Dillon smiled at Emily. “Yeah, I do. Georgie has been my best friend since we were in diapers. I’ve always been her friend. I just really don’t want to see her get hurt by that guy,”
Emily smiled at how compassionate her cousin was. “Do you like her more than a friend?”
Dillon paused for a second and grinned. “I think I do,” he said quietly.
Emily smiled at Dillon, “I knew you two were perfect for each other! I’ve always been saying that to Elizabeth since you were little,”
Dillon laughed at his cousin and they continued their breakfast.
The moment she had been dreading finally arrived. The doorbell rang. That could only mean one person. She got up from her spot on the couch and slowly walked over, hoping nothing bad would happen. Why did Mac have to work overtime today?
She opened the door and Garrett sauntered in. She could smell the alcohol. He moved in for a kiss but she turned her cheek away. “What the hell was that babe?” he asked. His breath reeked of beer. Tailgating before the basketball game, she assumed is where he previously was.
“Garrett, we need to talk,”
“About what?” he hiccupped. He stumbled into the living room and plopped down on the couch.
Georgie sighed. This wasn’t going to be easy. “Since the beginning of our relationship, you have been taking advantage of me and pressuring me into things and not treating me with the respect I deserve. I don’t know why I didn’t see it sooner. My friends have been saying it for a while now and I realized that maybe…maybe…” she tried to muster up the courage to finish her statement, “Maybe…we need to break up,” she said quietly avoiding eye contact.
Garrett rose to his feet. His height towered Georgie by at least half a foot. “I think you should go,” she said softly. She began walking towards the door. The least she could do was be polite and show him out.
Garrett grabbed her arm and pulled her back into the living room. He grabbed her shoulders and squeezed them tightly. “You don’t have the right to break up with me, bitch. No one ever breaks up with me!” the anger in his eyes and the power in his grasp made Georgie’s entire body shake and grow in fear. She tried to pull away but his grip was too tight. She screamed for help but it didn’t do any good.
He raised his hand and slapped her across the face. The power of the slap landed her body on the floor. She tried to crawl towards the phone but he grabbed her foot and pulled her towards him. “Garrett stop!” she pleaded.
“No one breaks up with me!” he repeated. He ripped her top off, the buttons flying in different directions. He punched her face and kicked her stomach. She winced in pain. He reached for her jeans. She tried to kick him but it didn’t do any good.
She closed her eyes as tears rolled down her cheeks. The pain was unimaginable. She felt as if her body was about to split in two.
When Garrett finished he leaned close to ear and whispered something barely audible. “Don’t even think about telling someone. You’ll be sorry. Something far worse will happen,” he kissed her lips harshly and kicked her stomach.
She was too weak to say anything. She couldn’t move. Her naked, bruised and bloody body lay on the floor of her once safe living room. She passed out from the searing pain in a ball on the carpet.
Brooke began to get restless. It wasn’t like Georgie to be late to anything, especially for a movie night. She loved them.
Brooke walked over to the window of the den at the Quartermaine mansion to see if Georgie was out there. It was already dark. But again to her disappointment her friend was no where to be found. “I don’t like this. I don’t like this at all. Where the heck is Georgie? She would have been here by now,”
Dillon got up from the couch. Brooke pretty much read her mind. “Why don’t I swing by her house and her up? Maybe her car died or something?”
“I hope that’s all it is,” Brooke muttered. Dillon was hoping for the same thing.
Dillon pulled into the Scorpio’s driveway next to Georgie’s car. The lights were out in the house. He walked up to the front porch and peered through the large front window. There on the wood floor lay his best friend, damaged and battered; and crying. He knocked the door open with his might and ran right over to Georgie.
At the sound of footsteps Georgie hid her face from the sound. She was petrified that it was Garrett returning to do something far worse. She didn’t comprehend the comforting voice of her best friend.
Dillon reached a hand out to Georgie to try to touch her but she moved away. “Georgie… It’s me. It’s Dillon. It’s ok. I’m here. Don’t worry. You’re safe,” she slowly looked at him and he took that as a sign. He grabbed a blanket and wrapped her in the warm covering and held on to her protectively.
He couldn’t take it. He couldn’t take seeing Georgie this way; helpless and beaten. He brushed some of the blood marred hair out of her face to look at her beautiful brown eyes. She couldn’t look at him. She felt violated and dirty. “Georgie girl, can you tell me what happened?” his tone was comforting and quiet. .
It took her a moment for it to settle in. For her to be able to say the words that she was about to. Because once she said them, it would be reality; not just some nightmare. “Garrett… he… came… I tried to fight him off but he was too strong… he hurt me... he kicked and punched and… oh my god…he…he…” she began to choke and become upset. Dillon rocked her back and forth and rubbed her back soothingly.
“What did he do Georgie?”
She pulled apart for him for a moment to look him in the eyes.
“He raped me,” Georgie said through tears.

Chapter Three
It’s funny when you think you hear something, and you know it’s the truth, but you hope it’s not. You pray it’s not. You will with your whole soul it’s not. But you know it’s the truth.
That’s how Dillon felt.
The words “He raped me” played through his mind like a broken record.
Feelings of anger and hatred overcame Dillon and his once soft tone became loud and forceful. “I’m going to kill him!” he shouted. He picked up a pillow and threw it across the room.
Georgie cowered at the Dillon she was watching before her.
Dillon realized his actions a moment ago and suddenly regretted it. He pulled her into a tight hug again. “I’m so sorry, Georgie. I didn’t mean to scare you,” he kissed her forehead and tried to stop her body from shaking. She pulled the blanket around her self farther.
After a few minutes of silence, minus Georgie’s sobs, Dillon cleared the lump in his throat and spoke the words both of them were dreading, “Georgie, we have to get you to a hospital. You need to be checked out,”
She pulled away from him and tried to stand. But fell over. She sat on the floor staring forward, shaking more than ever. “No… no… no… you can’t tell anyone. You can’t! He’ll hurt me! He’ll kill me! Dillon, he’ll kill me! I can’t tell anyone! I can’t!” Georgie buried her face in his shoulder.
Dillon pulled Georgie’s face with his thumb so that she was eye level with him. He brushed back her hair again and gave her a reassuring face, “Georgie, he can’t hurt you. Mac will get him and he will be in jail for a long, long time. But we need to get you checked out by a doctor. Ok?”
Georgie’s eyes filled with new tears, “I can’t,”
“Yes you can. I promise I won’t leave you,”
She nodded. He pulled apart from her and reached for his phone. “I’m going to call an ambulance ok?”
She nodded again.
He dialed 9-1-1. “Hello, what is your emergency?” the operator asked.
“My best friend was just raped and badly beaten,” he said in fury. The alarm his voice was evident.
“Calm down, sir. I’m sending an ambulance right now,” the woman on the other line said.
Dillon took a deep breath, “Ok, thank you,” he hung up the phone.
Georgie whimpered in Dillon’s arms. He kissed the top of her head and held her close.
He didn’t know what to do. He wanted to hurt Garrett so badly. But that would be sinking down to his level of pain and force to get a point across. Dillon wasn’t going to let him self sink to that low.
The ambulance arrived and the paramedics stormed into the house along with police officers. One of them pulled Dillon away from Georgie as the paramedics loaded her on to the stretcher.
The officer began to question Dillon with information about the scene as another one began to talk to Georgie. She panicked when she realized Dillon wasn’t next to her.
“Dillon! Dillon!” she cried. He heard his name and ran out after her leaving the officer. Georgie was his priority. They could question him at the hospital.
He jumped into the back of the ambulance and took Georgie’s hand in his. “Georgie, Georgie, shh… it’s ok. I’m right here,”
Brooke was now pacing across the floor while Jesse played Solitaire.
Brooke Lynn Ashton hated waiting. She worried when she had to wait. “Jesse, I’m getting worried. Why aren’t they back yet?” Brooke asked.
Jesse sighed. Trying to distract him self with a game of cards was not working. “I don’t know. Try Dillon’s cell phone,”
Brooke dialed the number but got his voice mail. She hung up the phone and shook her head. “I don’t like that. I’m going to Georgie’s to see what’s taking so long,”
Jesse grabbed his keys. “I’ll drive,”
Elizabeth Spencer’s night shift at General Hospital had only just started when the silence in her head was interrupted by the loud voice of one of the paramedics “Rape victim,” Liz closed her eyes and said a silent prayer for the girl. The stretcher raced past her. Before she turned to head into the trauma room she spotted Emily’s cousin, and friend, Dillon standing outside the swinging doors looking like a wreck. “Dillon? Dillon!” she shouted, running towards the teen, “What’s wrong? What are you doing here?”
Dillon took a deep breath, he looked like he was about to cry. Liz hadn’t seen Dillon cry since he was seven and skinned his knee falling off his bike. “Georgie…was…raped by her son of a bitch ex boyfriend. And they won’t let me in there with her! I promised her I wouldn’t leave her! They won’t let me in the exam room with her! Liz I can’t do that to her!” he swallowed back tears that were forming in his eyes.
Liz’s eyes resembled Dillon’s but she kept her emotions in tact, “I’ll go in with her. Stay out here. I’ll be back as soon as I can. Don’t worry. She knows she can trust you,” Liz ran through the double doors.
Dillon watched Liz leave and ran his fingers through his hair.
The car ride was a short one. Georgie only lived ten minutes away. They sat in silence letting their imaginations get the best of them. They found the house taped off with yellow caution tape and swarmed with investigators. “What the…” Brooke said. She stepped out and tried to walk over to the door. A police officer stopped the two of them. “Who are you?” the officer asked.
“My best friend lives here. What the hell happened?” Brooke asked.
“I’m sorry, mam, but I cannot give out details,”
Brooke began to get fiery. “What do you mean you ‘cannot give out details’? Something might have happened to my best friend and you can’t tell me? Well too damn bad because I want to know what the hell happened to Georgie! Where the hell is Georgie?!”
Jesse put his arm on Brooke Lynn’s shoulders to try and calm her down, “Officer, could you please tell us if Georgie is inside or where she is at least?” he was hopeful the man could answer that question.
“She has been taken to General Hospital. That’s all I can say,” Brooke gasped. Tears welled in her eyes.
“Thank you very much,” he said and helped Brooke to his car. She sat in the passenger seat. “I’m calling Dillon again,”
She dialed the number and waited for a response.
“Hello?” Dillon answered.
“Hey, where are you?”
Dillon took a deep breath. “I’m in the emergency room,” “Wait… what? Dillon details please! What is going on?” Brooke questioned.
“Can you meet me there? I really don’t want to explain it over the phone,” Dillon looked at Georgie and he could see she was petrified.
Brooke hung up the phone and looked at Jesse her face was white as a ghost.
“Brooke what is going on?” he asked.
“Something is wrong. Something is very wrong,”
“Dillon Albert Quartermaine! What the hell is wrong with you?! Hanging up on me like that?!” Brooke screamed as she ran through the sliding doors. She walked up to Dillon and hit him in the arm. He looked up at her with such emotion in his eyes that she began to shake. “What happened? What did that bastard do to Georgie?!” Brooke cried. Jesse wrapped his arms around her from behind and held her close to his chest.
Dillon shook his head. “He raped her. That…that…scum…raped Georgie,” he spoke without looking Brooke in the eyes. “How does a man do that to someone?”
Jesse paused for a moment and shook his head, “I don’t know,” was all he mumbled.
Liz walked out through the doors and over to the three teens, “How is she?” Dillon asked in a hurry.
“She wants to see you, Dillon,” she said. Brooke gave him a hug, “Take care of her,” she whispered in his ear and kissed her cheek. She wiped some tears away and Jesse pulled her into a hug.
Dillon followed Liz through the doors that once separated him from Georgie and down the hall. He looked through the observation window at his best friend laying on top of the table, in absolute fear. Tear streaks stained her face. Liz patted his shoulder and Dillon stepped in the door. He was quiet, as to try not to startle her, but his efforts fail. She jumped at the slight sound of the door creek and whipped her head around. The look on her face seemed to be etched into his mind. The look of pure fear and helplessness, Georgie was not a helpless person. She never had been.
He rushed over to her bed and scooped her into his arms, careful not to touch her various bruises. “I’m so sorry; I didn’t mean to leave you. But they wouldn’t let me with you. I’m so sorry, Georgie girl. I am,”
Georgie’s tears soaked his button down shirt. “Dillon, it was so embarrassing in there,”
He kissed her forehead, “I know, I know. I’m sorry this happened,”
One of the officers from the Port Charles Police Department walked through the door to Georgie’s room. Dillon recognized him as the man who had questioned him earlier. “Hi, Georgie, I’m Officer Todd Lewis. I just want to ask you some questions about what happened tonight,” his voice was calm. A half smile crossed his face.
“Where’s my dad?” Georgie sniffled. Dillon sat down in the chair next to her bed and held on to her hand. He rubbed his thumb over her knuckles to reassure that everything was going to be ok.
“Commissioner Scorpio is at the crime scene and will be coming shortly. He sent me to talk to you,” he pulled out a pad of paper and looked to Georgie to begin.
“First of all, can you identify your attacker?”
Georgie looked at Dillon who kissed her hand. She nodded slowly and looked down into her lap. “My ex-boyfriend Garrett Mitchell,” she mumbled.
The police man nodded and wrote that down, “Ok, could you tell me what happened?”
Georgie shook her head no and new tears poured out of her bloodshot eyes. Dillon stood up and sat next to her. “Georgie you can do this,” he whispered in her ear and kissed her cheek. She began to cry even more but nodded, nonetheless. “Garrett came over to my house…he was drunk…maybe high…he kicked me and punched me and…” she paused and became more upset.
“What happened next?”
Georgie paused. She couldn’t bring her self to say it again. She didn’t want to relive it all over again. “Please don’t make me,”
“Georgie, we need to hear what happened so we can arrest the son of a bitch,”
“But I can’t,” she sobbed. Dillon hugged her close and rocked her back and forth, “You can do this,” he whispered again.
“Garrett pulled me into the living room. He slapped my face. I hit my elbow on the floor. He climbed on top of me. He ripped my shirt. He pulled my hair. He took my pants off and he…”she stopped and sobbed.
“He what?” the officer asked.
“He raped me,” she choked out.
“Do you remember anything else?”
“I don’t know,” she muttered.
The officer sighed, “Georgie, I need to know what you remember. The more you do, the better a case your lawyer can build around him,”
“I can’t remember anything else,” she cried. Dillon hugged her close. He kissed her hair and rubbed her back. “I think you need to go,”
“But I need to question her some more to make sure we don’t miss anything,” the officer retorted.
“You can leave now, Lewis,” Mac said, standing in the doorway. He stared the young officer down until he left the room.
Mac rushed over to Georgie and hugged her close. “It’s going to be ok. We’re going to catch the son of a bitch,” he whispered.
“Don’t let him hurt me,” she choked out.
Mac held Georgie at arms length. His heart broke at the sadness and pain in her eyes, “Georgie, I will make sure he never comes near you again. I promise you. You’ll always be safe,” he held her close. He remembered the last time he held her like that. She was twelve and Felicia had left. That was the last time Georgie had seen her mother. Five years ago. “I have to head back to the station so I can be there when they arrest Garrett,”
“Dad, I want to go home,” she murmured after a moment.
Mac kissed Georgie’s hair and sighed, “Georgie, you’re going to have to stay the night. The doctors want to keep you for observation,”
She shook her head and pulled away from Mac, “No. No! No! I will not stay here over night!”
Dillon rubbed her hand and she pulled it away, “Mac, I just want to leave. I hate hospitals. Everyone is watching me. I just want to get out of here. Please, Mac. Please. I don’t want to be here alone tonight,” she sobbed.
“Georgie,” Dillon spoke up, “I’ll stay with you. I promise. I won’t leave. And I’ll call Mac all night. I’ll keep you safe, Georgie girl. If it’s ok with Mac,”
Dillon turned and faced the older man. He gave him a small smile and nod of confirmation. “I think that’s a wonderful idea. What about you, Georgie?
“Just don’t leave me,” she whimpered.
“I’ll never leave you. I’ll always be here. I promise,”

Chapter Four
Dillon walked off the elevator onto the third floor to General Hospital. In his hands were a stack of movies and yellow roses. They were Georgie’s favorite.
He headed down the hall towards Georgie’s room. He looked through and saw an empty, perfectly made hospital bed. He walked through the doors and expected to see Georgie’s coat but nothing.
He raced down to the nurses’ station. The worst was running through his mind. He saw Bobbie at the desk and rushed over to her, “Where did she go? Is she ok? Did something happen?”
Liz gave him a comforting smile, “She’s getting some tests done. She should be back with Bobbie soon,”
Dillon sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, “I’m supposed to take her home and I thought something had happened,”
Liz and Dillon went over to the waiting area and sat down. “I’m going to prep you on how Georgie is going to be. She’s going to get upset, scared and probably lash out at you. You just need to be patient and be there to listen,”
Dillon nodded, “I know all this. I promise I won’t let anything happen to her,”
Liz smiled, “It’s a rollercoaster of emotions. She’ll panic a lot. She won’t want to be left alone. She’ll scare more easily. But just promise me that you, and Brooke and Jesse will look out for her. She’s going to need her friends for support. I’ve been in her place, before,” Liz finished quietly.
Dillon looked at his friend confused. Liz understood and spoke up, “When I was fifteen, I was walking home in the park and I was raped,”
Dillon’s eyes widened, “Liz I am so sorry. I had no idea,”
She patted the top of his hand, “I’m over it now. I don’t even think about it anymore. I just know what she’s going through. Tell Georgie that if she ever needs anyone to talk to, I’m here,”
The elevator doors opened and Georgie and Bobbie came out. Dillon headed right over to her wheel chair and knelt in front of it. “How are you doing? Are you ok?” he looked to her eyes.
“I want to go home,” she sniffled.
Bobbie looked at her niece and her heart grew heavy. “I know sweetie. Your tests are done and you and Dillon can head home,”
Dillon walked over to the side of his car and opened the door. He grabbed her tiny hand and slowly helped her out. She walked next to her up the front stairs to the door. He reached into the planter for the extra house key and opened the door.
Georgie slowly stepped inside. There was yellow tape across her living room. The memories flooded back immediately. She turned around and Dillon pulled her into a close hug.
“I can’t stay in here,” her breath staggered from the tears.
“Ok. I know where we can go,” he said quietly as they walked out the door.
“I don’t want to see anyone,” she mumbled.
“I have just the place,”
Dillon helped Georgie up the stairs to the guest bathroom and handed her a towel. “Are you going to be alright?” he asked.
She nodded and closed the door. She changed out of her sweat pants and tee shirt and slowly stepped into the shower. The hot water hit her bruised and beaten body quickly. She grabbed a wash cloth and soap began to rub at her skin. Her arms began to turn red as she scrubbed them almost raw. She moved her hands to her stomach. She brushed over a bruise and collapsed in the pain that surged up her spine. She gasped in pain and dropped her bottle of soap.
That was enough noise for Dillon who was waiting in the bedroom adjoined with the bathroom. He opened the door just enough to poke his head through, “Georgie, are you ok?”
His answer was the sounds of sobs from behind the shower curtain. He walked slowly into the steam filled bathroom and gently pulled back the shower curtain.
“Georgie…” he said quietly. She looked up at him. Her eyes were red from crying. Her skin matched the color. He quickly bent down to her when he saw her raw arm. “What happened?”
“I’m dirty…And no matter how hard I scrub…I can’t seem to feel clean…”she cried and continued to scrub. Dillon looked at her for a moment. She was so powerless and weak. It broke his heart to see her like this. He reached out to touch her. He took the tip of his thumb and tilted her head up so he could see her blood shot eyes; her big beautiful brown eyes.
He slowly helped her stand and wrapped her in the soft towel. She leaned against his body resting her head on his shoulder. Her tiny frame shook in sobs. He put his arms under her legs and carried her over to the bed. He handed her a spare robe from the closet.
She refused to make eye contact with him, staring at a spot on the floor. He knelt down in front of her and put a piece of wet hair behind her ear. Her eyes shifted to the wall. The doorbell rang and Georgie jumped. She quickly calmed her self down and Dillon kissed her temple.
“Georgie, I think Emily is at the door with some extra clothes for you,”
“I don’t want to see anyone,” she said quickly.
Dillon nodded, “Ok, I’ll be right back then,”
He descended down the stairs and returned a few minutes later, “Ok, I have a pair of sweatpants and shirt for you,”
Georgie gave him a small smile in appreciation and took the clothes from his hands, “Thank you,” she murmured.
Dillon walked out of the room to give her some privacy and closed the door behind her.
She came out of the room a couple minutes later, moving slowly as she was still in a lot of pain. Dillon sat on the stairs waiting for her. “Are you ok?” he said quickly, standing up.
She nodded.
“Do you want something to drink or eat?”
She shook her head and sniffled. “I just want to lie down and watch a movie. But there aren’t any in there,” she mumbled.
Dillon smiled, “Well then, you are in luck because you happen to be best friends with a movie buff. What are you in the mood for?”
“Something happy,” she replied simply.
“I have just the thing,” he said and he quickly moved down the stairs.
When Dillon returned he found Georgie, curled into a ball on the bed, sleeping soundly. He tucked her under the covers and kissed her forehead.
He settled in the overstuffed chair near the bed with a blanket and pressed play.
*Dream Sequence*
*END DREAM SEQUENCE*
“No,” she moaned, “No, Get away from me. Help! Garrett stop!” she screamed loudly.
Dillon woke up quickly and moved to Georgie’s side. He lightly shook her shoulder, “Georgie girl, wake up,” he said softly. She’s eyes opened wide. She was in a cold sweat. She jumped at the sight of Dillon sitting near her.
“Oh, Dillon,” she said with a sob. He wrapped his arms tightly around her and rocked her back and forth. “Georgie, you’re going to be ok. You’re safe now,”
Georgie shook her head, “No, no, no, I’m not! I’m not safe! Dillon, think about it!” she cried, “What if he doesn’t go to jail? What if they don’t find him guilty? What am I going to do?” she began to hyperventilate.
“Georgie, I promise that won’t happen. I won’t allow it,”
“How can you promise something like that?”
“Well, I can’t but—,”
“That’s right, you can’t. You can’t promise me anything like that,” she seethed.
“But, Georgie, I didn’t mean anything by it. I was just trying to help and—,”
Georgie looked away and tears filled her eyes. “Just go away, Dillon, please,”
Dillon slowly nodded his head and walked out of the room.
Georgie crawled into a ball on the bed and began to cry.
Dillon cracked the door and peered in on her. He saw the helpless woman that was his best friend. He closed the door quietly behind him and for the first time in a very long time, Dillon began to cry.

Chapter Five
Brooke and Jesse walked down the hallway at Port Charles High School towards Dillon’s locker. “How’s she doing?” Brooke asked quietly.
Dillon threw some textbooks into his locker and shrugged. “Not too well. She doesn’t talk much. She stays in the guest room at the gatehouse. She doesn’t sleep much and when she does, she wakes up screaming. She doesn’t want to see anyone. Not even Mac,” he explained somberly.
“How’s Mac taking it?” Jesse asked.
Dillon swallowed. “He’s trying to keep busy with Garrett’s case. He wants that son of a bitch put away for as long as possible. I talk to him every night and fill him in one how she is doing. But I know it’s eating him up inside not seeing her,” he started walking down the hall towards the pay phones. “I’ll see you down at the cafeteria in a minute. I’m going to give her a call,” he said and placed a couple quarters in the slot.
Brooke and Jesse nodded and walked away from him. “I hate this,” Brooke muttered. “I hate not being able to see my best friend,”
“She needs space,” Jesse added.
“I know. I just want to know how to help her,”
Jesse kissed her temple, “I love you,”
Dillon listened to the rings through the phone. He knew she was near the phone. He placed the phone next to her bed just in case something happened. He sighed when he got the answering machine. “Hi, Georgie girl,” he said almost cheerfully. “I know you can hear me. So why don’t you pick up the phone ok?” he paused for a moment thinking she might listen. He sighed and continued, “Ok, well, I hope your doctor’s appointment went well. I’ll see you when I get home. Bye Georgie girl,” he hung up the phone and thought for a moment.
He placed another quarter in the phone and dialed the hospital. He waited for someone to pick up, “Hello Port Charles General Hospital,”
“Bobbie?” Dillon questioned.
“No, it’s Liz. Is this Dillon?” she asked.
Dillon sighed, “Yeah, hi Liz. I was just wondering if Bobbie had come in with Georgie today. She was supposed to pick her up. Georgie said she called her,”
Liz looked around the nurses’ station for some charts. “Dillon, Georgie isn’t scheduled in for today. And I think Bobbie is in the city for the day,”
Dillon ran his fingers through his hair, “Ok,” he said quietly. He knew he should have called Bobbie himself. “Liz, can you do me an extremely big favor?” he asked, hoping she would be ok with his question.
“Of course, what do you need?”
“I need you to go to the gate house and check on Georgie for me please? I have a meeting after school and I need someone to check on her. Could you do that for me please?” he asked.
“I’ll look after her, don’t worry. But I have Lillie with me. Hopefully Georgie won’t mind,” Liz said.
“I think that will maybe cheer her up a little,” he paused once he heard the bell ring, “I have to go to Physics. I’ll talk to you later Liz. Tell Georgie I’ll try to be home ASAP. Thanks again,” he hung up the phone and ran down the hall.
Liz hung up her phone and sighed. Emily walked over to her best friend, with her usual cheerful smile, “Morning, Liz,”
“Hi Em,” Liz replied.
“What’s up? Are you ok?”
Liz nodded, “Yeah, Dillon asked me to go and talk to Georgie and check up on her. It just pains me to know that she has to go through what I went through. Emily, we baby-sat those kids. It seems like only yesterday they were babies. And now…” she drifted her thoughts off.
“Let me take Lillie for the night,” Emily interrupted. “Let Nikolas and I watch her tonight, ok?”
Liz gave her a grateful smile, “Thank you,”
Liz walked up to the Quartermaine gatehouse. She knocked a few times, but received no answer. She put the key in the door that she had received from Emily and slowly turned the knob. “Georgie, honey, are you here?” Liz said calmly.
Georgie sat up slowly on the sofa, “What are you doing here?” she said quickly.
Liz gave her a smile, “Dillon called me. He said you didn’t go to your doctor’s appointment today. He just wanted me to check on you,” she walked into the living room. “Are you ok? Do you feel alright?”
“How do you think I feel?” Georgie seethed. “I was raped,”
“I know,” Liz said calmly.
“Do you? Do you know how it feels to be violated like that? Do you know how it feels to be dirty? To feel as if you will never be clean again? Do you wake up at night because you can feel his hands roaming over your body? Because the last time I checked, you don’t,”
“I do,”
“What?” Georgie whispered.
“When I was fifteen, I was raped. I went to the park one night instead of attending a school dance. And I was attacked. He pulled me into the bushes,” she explained.
Georgie whimpered. “Did you know him?”
Liz shook her head, “No,” she murmured.
“Did they catch him? Is he in jail?”
“He’s in jail,” Liz began, “but not for my rape. I did it all wrong. I didn’t report it until it was too late. I washed away the evidence that night in the shower. But he is in jail for another crime,”
Georgie’s tears poured down her cheeks, “What if they don’t find him guilty?”
“Oh, sweetie, they will. You did everything right. I promise, he’ll never hurt you again,” she hugged the teen and rocked her back and forth.
“People keep telling me that,” she mumbled.
“I know, I can’t promise you anything, but if he doesn’t go to jail and he gets within shouting distance of you, you have to realize there are about six guys he’ll have to go through plus countless more,”
Georgie paused for a moment, “Do you think its worse when you know the person rather than him being a total stranger?”
Liz shrugged, “Maybe,”
“It’s just…I trusted him. I might have even loved him. And he betrayed me. He took the most important thing from me,” she cried, “Are you past it?”
“Yeah, I barely even think about it now. Things will get better. I can promise you that. But you can’t shut people out, ok?”
Georgie dabbed her eyes, “I know I have to. It’s just hard. Do you think I want people seeing me like this? I’m dirty. And I hate it,”
“It will go away. Georgie, you are a strong, beautiful young woman with so much potential,” Liz said, “I have watched you grow up over the years. You are going to be able to get past this?”
“Are you sure?” Georgie asked.
Dillon walked through the door of the penthouse. “Georgie girl, it’s just me. I stopped by Kelly’s and got you a hot fudge sundae,” he shouted.
He found her in the living room, curled up in a ball under a blanket. “Hi Georgie girl,” he knelt down in front of her and brushed her hair back. “How was your day?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, Dillon,” she whispered.
“What?”
“I know you sent Liz over to check on me. Why couldn’t you listen to me when I said I didn’t want to see anyone?”
“Because, I thought talking to her would do you some good, that’s why,” Dillon explained.
“You still shouldn’t have done that,” she snapped.
“I’m sorry,” he said quietly.
“She wants me to go to a rape victim meeting with her at the hospital, on Thursday!” she screamed.
“I think that would be good,”
“I can’t,” she cried. Her body shook with tears.
“You can, Georgie, you can. You are the strongest person I have ever met,”
He sat down next to her and pulled her into a hug. “I can’t,” she whispered.

Chapter Six
Georgie headed through the front doors to Port Charles High School. It had been two weeks. Brooke walked with her slowly to her locker. Jesse met them both there. “Good morning ladies,” he said with a smile. He gave Brooke a quick kiss and handed Georgie a cup of coffee. “Thank you,” she said quietly.
The bruises were almost gone on her face. Her ribs were healing slowly. She needed to go back, she kept telling herself. Being at the gatehouse was driving her insane. She picked a Friday to come back. One day to try it out and then the weekend.
She opened the door and quickly threw her books inside. She reached down to pick up a fallen binder and drew a quick breath when she was hit with sharp pain.
Brooke and Jesse and quickly ran over to her to help. Brooke grabbed the binder and Jesse reached down to help Georgie stand back up, “Are you ok?”
She nodded silently, “I’m fine,” she closed her locker and walked slowly towards her first period class. “Where’s Dillon this morning?” Jesse asked.
“He had a dentist appointment,” Brooke answered. “He’ll be back after second period,”
People in the halls stared at the three teens. Some whispered and pointed. Others snickered. Georgie looked down to avoid the comments. Brooke put her arm around Georgie’s shoulders. “It’s going to be ok,” she whispered.
They reached the classroom door and Brooke said goodbye to Jesse. She turned to Georgie and gave her a light hug. “I’ll see after this period. We’ll walk to math together, ok?”
Georgie nodded and gave her a small smile. “I’ll see you then,”
Georgie and Jesse walked into English class, Georgie’s favorite. She sat down in her normal spot, next to Jesse in the second row. She pulled out her books and set them on her desk.
“Miss Jones, welcome back. We really have missed you around here,” the teacher smiled. “Now, let’s open to page two hundred,”
Three girls sat behind Georgie and rolled their eyes at the teacher’s comment, “I can’t believe she put Garrett in jail,” one of them said.
“I bet he didn’t even rape her. She just liked it rough,” the other laughed.
Tears began to well up in Georgie’s eyes. She kept looking down, trying not to look weak.
“Will you just shut the hell up?” Jesse shouted. Georgie wiped her eyes and quickly ran out of the classroom.
“Will someone please explain to me what is going on?” the teacher demanded.
Georgie sat in a chair in the nurses’ office. “Are you sure you want to go home? We’re barely into first period. Why don’t you try going back in a little while,” the nurse offered.
Georgie wiped her eyes and shook her head, “Please, just call my dad,”
Mac showed up shortly and helped Georgie into the car. “Do you want to talk?”
“I can’t do this Mac!” she cried, “I can’t go back in there. I couldn’t even make it through one period without someone commenting on what happened. They were saying that Garrett didn’t rape me. That I made it up,”
He pulled her into a hug, “Oh, Georgie. It will all work out. We’ll just have to take baby steps,” he smiled.
Mac pulled up in front of his home and parked the car in the drive way.
“I just have to grab some papers from inside and then let’s head to Kelly’s for milkshakes,” Mac said. Georgie nodded and stared at the house in front of her. “I’ll be right back.
He walked up the brick path and through the front door. Georgie took a deep breath and slowly got out. She walked up the same path Mac did and turned the door knob.
The memories hit her and she began to shake. Mac walked behind her and put his arms lightly on her shoulder. She tensed up at the touch, but quickly calmed down when she realized it was him. “What’s wrong?” Mac asked.
“I can’t do this. I can’t be here,” she sobbed.
“Hey, it’s ok,” he pulled her into a hug, “I got what I needed. Let’s head to the gatehouse,”
Dillon met Brooke and Jesse outside of a classroom after second period. He needed to check on Georgie to see how she was doing. When he didn’t see her with them, he began to panic. “Where is she?” he asked quickly.
“She went home. Three girls were giving talking about her in class first period. I yelled at them and she bolted out of the room. Mr. Williams sent them to talk to Mrs. Jefferson,” Jesse explained.
Dillon nodded, “Ok, I’m going to try and call her,” he walked away from the couple and our the double doors to the patio. He grabbed his cell phone and called Georgie.
“Hello?”
“Mac?”
“Yes, hi Dillon, Georgie’s taking a nap right now. Did you need anything?” Mac explained.
“I was just checking on her. How’s she doing?”
Mac sighed, “She’s doing alright. I need you to do me a favor,”
“Anything,” Dillon said.
“Alright, after school, could you and Jesse and Brooke come over to my house and help me pack up Georgie’s room? She’s not moving back in. She just can’t be here. I don’t blame her. She might be at the gatehouse for a little longer until I find another place,” Mac said.
“Mac, Georgie can stay as long as she likes. She can move in with me, as long as that is ok with you, of course. Monica let me stay there to avoid my family,” he chuckled slightly.
“Are you sure?” he asked.
“I love having the company. And I want to make sure she is ok. I promise to keep her away from the Quartermaine’s as much as possible,”
“Thank you, so much,” Mac said.
“I’d do anything for her,” Dillon replied.
“I know,”
“Georgie,” Dillon shouted when he got home.
“Hey,” she said quietly walking out of the kitchen.
“I have a surprise for you,” he said with a big smile on his face.
“What’s that?”
“We’re going to Kelly’s and I’m going to have Mike make us the biggest sundae ever,”
She smiled and muttered a quiet, “Ok, but Dillon seriously, I look awful,”
“You look beautiful,”
“Liar,” Georgie chuckled quietly.
The two walked through the diner to a booth in the corner. There was a group of kids sitting behind them.
“I can’t wait for the semi formal tomorrow!” one girl said.
Dillon and Georgie both chuckled. “Do you remember our semi formal freshman year?” Dillon asked.
“How could I forget?”
*FLASHBACK*
Dillon was waiting at the staircase dressed in his suit waiting for Georgie and Brooke.
They were going to the semi-formal at Port Charles High school as friends.
Brooke walked down the stairs first. She was in a red halter dress with a lily in her hair. It was parted on the side and straightened. The lily was tucked securely behind her ear. Brooke was always one to wear flowers in her hair.
Next came Georgie. She was in a navy blue strapless dress. It was simple but elegant.
Dillon looked at her and was in awe. She was beautiful.
Her hair was pinned up in soft curls. She smiled and walked down the rest of the stairs.
She did a little twirl and laughed. She and Brooke did some crazy model poses as her dad took pictures.
Brooke linked arms with Jesse and Georgie with Dillon and they walked out of the house. *END FLASHBACK*
“You and I danced the night away. And you kept stepping on my toes,” Georgie giggled.
“Yeah sorry about that. I should have warned you. I am a horrible dancer,” Dillon answered.
“It’s ok, Dillon. I just went home and soaked my feet in a hot water bath,” Dillon and Georgie both laughed.
“I’m glad you’re laughing Georgie,” Dillon said
“Me too, it feels good to laugh,” she replied
Dillon opened the front door to the gatehouse. All the lights were turned off.
Georgie walked in first with Dillon behind her.
“Surprise!”
Emily, Nikolas, Liz, Lucky, Lillie, Brooke, Jesse, and Mac were standing in the living room.
“Happy House warming!” Emily said hugging her cousin and Georgie.
“Dillon, what is this?” Georgie asked quickly.
“Well my friend, if you’ll allow it, I’d like you to move in with me here. Brooke and Jesse packed up all your stuff after school. It’s up in your room now,” Dillon explained.
“I’d love to be your roommate,” Georgie said and gave Dillon a hug.
“Well, Georgie, I’m not trying to change your vote but, after living with Dillon for many years at the Quartermaine mansion, I have some advice for you,”
Georgie giggled. “Ok…”
Emily pulled out a list of things written down. Everyone laughed at her. “Ok, first off, Dillon is not a morning person, he doesn’t talk until he has his coffee, he will probably steal your hair products when he is out, he will drive you nuts about movies, he sings in the shower, he has insomnia, you will hear him with his TV on at all hours of the night and he will drink almost all of the milk until a tiny bit is left and then put it back in the fridge so when you go to get some milk there is barely any left,”
Georgie was laughing hard at Emily’s suggestions. “You’re make living with him sound so appealing,”
“Yeah, thanks cous, I appreciate the wonderful description,” Dillon said sarcastically.
“No problem, Spike,” Dillon hated Emily’s nickname for him.
Georgie pulled back the covers of her bed and sat down. She looked around the room. “Hi roomie,” Dillon said sitting down next to her.
“Are you sure about this?” Georgie asked. “I mean you must be crazy to have a basket case like me live with you permanently,”
“You’re not a basket case, Georgie,” Dillon said. “You’ve been through a lot. I give you a lot of credit. You’re doing really well,”
Georgie shook her head, “I couldn’t even make it through a whole day of school. I couldn’t even make it through a period at school,”
“It’ll just take some time. We’ll take it slow. It’s all good,” Dillon said. He pulled her into a hug and kissed her forehead.
“Dillon,” she said quietly, “Will you just lay here tonight until I fall asleep?”
“Of course,” he said.
“I don’t know what I would do without you,”
“I don’t know what I would do without you too, Georgie girl,”

Chapter Seven
“I don’t want to go to the game,” Georgie mumbled under her breath. The Friday night basketball game had been tradition for the four friends to attend, along with most of the school population.
“I think it’ll be good for you to go, Georgie,” Brooke said, as the two of them got ready in Georgie’s bedroom.
“Sure,” Georgie murmured and rolled her eyes.
Brooke chuckled. “Let’s go, best friend!” Brooke took Georgie’s hand and led her down the stairs where the guys were waiting for them.
Dillon handed Georgie her coat and Georgie gave him a grateful smile. He put his arm around her shoulder and gave it a tiny squeeze. “Come on, it’ll be fun!”
“Famous last words,” Georgie said.
The four friends walked up the cement stairs outside towards the entrance to the Port Charles High School gymnasium. Jesse and Brooke walked hand-in-hand ahead of Georgie and Dillon talking about some inside joke. Georgie was happy her friends were so in love with each other. But she hated them for dragging her to the game.
Georgie had now been back at school for three weeks and things were starting to get back to normal. She wasn’t still keen on the idea of going out in public. School was just starting to get tolerable. That didn’t mean going out in public would be easy.
“Ok, let’s get this over with,”
“Cheer up, Georgie. You have been cooped up too long. The games are always fun. I think this will be good for you,” Dillon said with a grin. Georgie rolled her eyes and nodded. “Fine,”
Dillon laughed and the two of them walked in and found their seats next to Brooke and Jesse in the bleachers.
“Welcome to tonight’s game against the Central Vikings!” the announcer shouted into the microphone. The crowd began to cheer loudly as players were announced.
Georgie and Dillon applauded in their seats and munched on some popcorn. Georgie sighed and looked around. No one was staring at her, yet.
Maybe this could be tolerable.
“I told you this wouldn’t be so bad,” Brooke smiled.
“It hasn’t even started yet,” Georgie mentioned.
“How about after the game we all go out for root beer floats and pizza at Kelly’s,” Jesse suggested. “Because I don’t know about you, but a good root beer float can fix anything,”
Dillon nodded in agreement, “Sounds like a good idea. What do you girls think?”
“Works for me,”
“Me too,” Georgie added.
The game progressed quickly with Port Charles High School being up by seven at the end of the first half.
“Why Miss Georgie Jones, is that a smile I see on your face?” Jesse asked with a wink.
“Why I think it is,” Brooke agreed.
Georgie laughed and put her hands up in defense, “Ok, you caught me,” she smiled.
“I’m glad to see we were right,” Brooke gloated.
“Just don’t let it go to your head,” Georgie teased.
“I think it’s a little late for that,” Jesse laughed which earned him a playful smack from Brooke.
Dillon sat down next to Georgie handing the three of them each a water bottle. “What did I miss?”
“Just a smiling Georgie,” Brooke said and Georgie blushed at the comment.
“Good for you, Georgie girl. I like seeing a smile on your face,”
“It’s a good feeling,” she said.
“Welcome back to tonight’s match. Port Charles High School is leading by five going into the second half. It’s been a close game so far which is to be expected with start player Garrett Mitchell out for the rest of the season. PC High normally would have dominated this season but with Mitchell out, it leaves room for other schools to get a chance at the title,” the announcer said.
Georgie’s face began to turn pale and the room began to spin. She couldn’t escape hearing about him.
It was impossible.
It seemed as if a million pairs of eyes were staring at her. “I need some air…I need to get out of here…” she quickly grabbed her coat and headed up the bleachers out the doors towards the cold March air.
Dillon followed her quickly and met her outside on the cement stairs. She was pacing back and forth running her fingers through her dirty blonde hair.
“You ok, Georgie girl?” Dillon asked quietly.
Georgie whirled around not surprised to see Dillon. She was relieved. He pulled her into a hug and his hand began to rub her back. “Just forget about that. He’s not here. He can’t hurt you,” he whispered in her ear.
“I know,” she mumbled. She looked around. “I feel so stupid for letting that get to me. God I’m such a loser. Do you realize your best friend is a complete dork?” she chuckled.
Dillon pulled away from her, “Georgie, you are allowed to be upset by this,”
“I don’t want to be though. I want to try and forget about the rape and Garrett Mitchell. I want to just start over, like it never happened,” she said. “Yeah, that’s what I want to do,” she added trying to convince herself.
Dillon sighed. “You’re so brave Georgie,”
Georgie laughed sarcastically, “I’m brave? You think I’m brave?”
Dillon nodded, “Yeah I do,”
“Are you on drugs, Dillon Quartermaine? It took my three best friends to practically drag me out of the house tonight on a Friday night to go to a basketball game. Something a month ago, I wouldn’t have missed. And tonight the announcer talked about Garrett Mitchell and I freaked out. That’s not bravery Dillon, that’s being a chicken,”
“You, are so brave, Georgie. And don’t ever think otherwise. You have come so far in this past month. I’m so proud of you. We all are. You come to school with your head held high,”
“Dillon, I left school two weeks ago after ten minutes,”
“That’s ok, Georgie,” he smiled, “but what I’m getting at is, you come to school and don’t let comments bother you. You had one rough day your first day back, but that Monday, you didn’t let those girls bother you. That’s bravery right there. And you go to the rape counseling meetings with Liz at the hospital. That’s brave. And you came to the game tonight. Georgie, you are just reeking of bravery,” Dillon said with a sly smile.
Georgie laughed and rolled her eyes, “You…are…so dorky,” she giggled.
“But you love me,” he winked.
“Someone’s gotta,”
Jesse and Brooke walked through the doors and down the stairs to their two friends. “So the game’s like really boring now. We’re up by like a million. So how about we head to Kelly’s early?” Jesse asked.
“Sounds good to me,” Dillon said.
“Me too,” added Georgie.

Chapter Eight
“Brooke, thank you for coming with me,” Georgie said, through a mist of tears. Brooke took Georgie’s hand and squeezed it in a reassuring gesture. “It’s going to be ok, Georgie. Everything will be alright,”
The girls sat on an exam table at a local clinic at the edge of town. “How can this be ok? I can’t be pregnant,” Georgie sniffled.
“You don’t even know if you’re pregnant yet. It could be just nerves or something,” Brooke tried to tell her best friend.
Georgie shook her head, “Brooke, I’m late,” she said simply. Before Brooke could respond the doctor walked into the room carrying a folder.
“Miss Jones, your tests show that you are indeed pregnant,” Georgie gasped and the tears began to flow more freely from her eyes. Brooke hugged her best friend tightly. Georgie didn’t listen to what the doctor had to say.
The words rang through her head like a bad song on the radio.
She somehow ended up in the passenger seat of Brooke’s car with her head in her hands. “This can’t be true,” she mumbled over and over again. Brooke rubbed Georgie’s back and soothing circles. “Why don’t we go home?” she whispered quietly.
Georgie picked up her head and nodded.
Georgie and Brooke walked through the front door to the gatehouse. Georgie hugged Brooke and whispered a “thank you” in her ear.
“Are you sure you’re going to be ok?” she asked quietly.
Georgie nodded. Brooke walked out the front door and Georgie waved a small goodbye.
“Georgie is that you?” Dillon shouted from upstairs.
“It’s me,” she mumbled and wandered into the living room.
“Oh thank God, I was worried where you were. And neither you nor Brooke was picking up their cell phone and –,” Dillon quickly descended down the stairs and found Georgie on the couch staring at nothing in particular. “Georgie girl, are you ok?” she asked.
She paused for a moment and then shook her head. “No,”
“What’s wrong?” he asked soothingly.
Georgie took a deep breath, trying to keep the tears in her eyes from spilling over any more. “I don’t know how to say this. I only found out like an hour ago…it just keeps running through my mind at like a million miles an hour and I don’t know what to do…it hasn’t sunk in yet…I’m scared and overwhelmed and possibly happy and—,”
“Georgie, I’m sorry, but I’m confused, what are you saying?” Dillon interjected.
“I’m pregnant,” she choked out.
Dillon stared at her for a moment. A moment too long, he realized as Georgie burst into sudden tears. Dillon quickly blinked and pulled Georgie into a tight hug and rocked her back and forth. “It’s ok, everything is ok,” he said calmly.
After a few minutes Georgie pulled away and dried her tears with her sweatshirt sleeve. Dillon looked at her “Do you want to talk about it?”
She nodded but the words she wanted to say couldn’t seem to find her lips. “Have you thought about any options?” Dillon asked. “I mean Georgie; you don’t have to keep this baby. How far along are you?”
“Seven weeks,” Georgie shook her head back and forth quickly. “I can’t get rid of it. I can’t do that,”
Dillon nodded, “Ok, well then you’ve made one decision. There’s always adoption, Georgie. If you think that’s best for you. Don’t let anyone else effect your decision,”
Georgie brushed away new tears, “I don’t think I want adoption. I think I want to keep the baby,” she mumbled, “I mean, this child was created under horrible circumstances and I want it to know that I love it no matter what. And I will always love it. And it is my something good out of this bad event,”
Dillon nodded and kissed Georgie’s hair, “You are amazing,” he murmured.
“But how am I going to do this?” she asked after a moment. She pulled away from Dillon and began pacing. “I mean, where am I going to get the money? And what about school? Where am I going to live? Does PCU accept single parents? I’m only 18! How am I going to do this?!” She sat down next to Dillon and placed her head in her lap.
She lifted her head and stared at Dillon with wide eyes. “What about Garrett. I mean my trial isn’t for another six weeks. I’ll be showing by then. What’s going to happen with him? Does he have any rights to this child? I don’t want him any where near my baby,” she began to cry again. Dillon wrapped his arms around her and she rested her head against his chest.
“We’ll have to check with Alexis about Garrett’s rights. But don’t worry. I’ll make sure he never comes near you or this baby. Ever,”
“Thank you, Dillon. I don’t know what I would do without you,” she murmured through tears.
He rubbed her shoulder, “Georgie,” Dillon said quietly, “If you want, you and the baby could stay here with me. Or we could find a place closer to campus. I mean money isn’t a problem for me. I’ll take care of you and the baby. I promise. If you want to that is,”
Georgie looked up at him confused, “Are you serious? You would want to take care of a hormonal pregnant woman for seven and half more months and a child? Are you insane?”
“Georgie, I’m as serious as a heart attack. If you’re willing to let me help you, I’d being more than willing. You’re my best friend. I would do anything for you,” he said staring into her chocolate brown eyes.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
He kissed her hair and rocked her back and forth.
“Hi dad,” Georgie said. She sat on a park bench on the blustery March morning. She hadn’t slept too well the previous night and woke up to a wave of nausea. She couldn’t wait until the morning sickness crap was over.
“Hi honey,” he smiled and hugged her. “How are you doing today?” he asked. He sat down next to her.
“I’m ok,” she said quietly. “Actually dad, I have something to tell you,” she took a deep breath. “I went to the doctor’s yesterday with Brooke and they found something,”
Mac’s eyes widened. “Are you alright?”
“I think so. I’m just a little shocked,” she said.
“Georgie, honey, what did they find?”
She took a deep breath and sighed. “I’m pregnant,” she said simply.
Mac blinked for a moment and then he pulled her into another hug, “Oh Georgie, honey, I’m so sorry,”
Tears began to form in Georgie’s eyes again. “Have you decided anything?” Mac asked after a minute.
“Yeah,” she said quietly. “Do you think I’m crazy for wanting this baby?” she pulled away from Mac to see his expression. “I don’t think you’re crazy,” he said.
“I’ve talked to Dillon and he said the baby and I can live with him. He said he’ll help out as much as possible. And he said that we have to talk to Alexis about Garrett’s parental rights, but he doesn’t think he has any because I don’t want my child anywhere near him,” Georgie explained. “And I still plan on going to school and I don’t quite know about babysitters yet, but maybe I’ll take a year off or something. I don’t know yet,” she sighed and waited to see what Mac had to say.
“You are so amazing,” he said, “And so brave. I am so proud of you. I support you one hundred percent,”
“Thank you,” she said through new tears.
