Chapter 10 First, Last, and Always
Harbor View Towers “Jacks! I’m working for Jasper Jacks!” Courtney yelled.
“Candy boy,” Sonny stated turning away. She visibly relaxed when he took his scrutinizing gaze off of her. She let out a deep breath and nodded.
“When did you start working together?” he asked. She thought a couple of seconds before replying. “He didn’t know that I wasn’t your sister until recently…” she replied.
“How long?” he asked again, turning to face her.
“Around two months,” she replied. He nodded silently and pondered her words.
“Two months.” he stated. She nodded and looked away.
He nodded as he walked to the door. “Max,” he called and motioned the guard in. “Take her to one of the warehouses,” he instructed.
“Which one?” Max asked.
Courtney strained to listen to them but they were speaking so faintly that all she could hear was ‘the one off’ and nothing else. “Dammit,” she muttered. She started thinking of how she was going to ditch the guard.
“Courtney,” Sonny said. She jumped slightly surprised that he was standing so close. “Max is going to make sure you get home,”
He nodded to Max and the guard took hold of Courtney’s shoulder. “I can get to my place on my own,” she said.
“Max is taking you,” he said firmly. She rolled her eyes and nodded. “Fine,” she ground out.
He waited until the door was shut firmly behind her then picked up his phone.
“Yeah it’s Sonny,” he greeted.
“Come to the penthouse, and bring Ric,”
Brenda’s Cottage “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat again…” Brenda groaned. She was curled up in a tight ball on the couch and holding her stomach.
“What happens when you shove food in your face?” Johnny asked Francis with a smile.
The other guard looked at Brenda and chuckled then he heard Carly upstairs. “If you’re Brenda you whine about it to anyone who’ll listen. If you’re Carly…” he paused and grimaced when he heard her again. “If you’re Carly you go looking for more food in the kitchen,”
“Dammit Carly!” Brenda yelled. “I already told you, there’s nothing in there.”
All three watched the blonde bound out of the kitchen with a smile on her face. “You wanna bet?”
She held up a bag of cookies so they could see it then proceeded to rip open the bag.
“Does she ever stop?” Brenda asked Francis and Johnny.
Johnny considered the question then shook his head. Brenda looked over at Francis and waited for his reply.
“Well does she?” she asked again. Carly smiled as she bit into another cookie and rolled her eyes. “Go on you know you want to,” she said to Francis.
“Does Sonny ever wear jeans?” he answered with his own question. Brenda threw one of her arms over her face and groaned.
“Hey look there’s still some fries!” Carly exclaimed.
Elizabeth’s Studio Elizabeth still couldn’t believe that Johnny had walked out and left her such a tip. “What else did you expect?” she asked herself. All of Sonny’s guards did that and even though she knew they were just being kind she couldn’t help but feel like a charity case.
With a shake of her head she unlocked her door and stepped into the dark studio.
She was still getting used to how much it had changed. She’d finally saved enough money to buy the place instead of renting and the landlord had given her a great deal on the studio next door.
She’d knocked out the wall that separated the two studio’s, gotten rid of the other door and was in the process of decorating her now studio apartment. All her art supplies were in the original studio in the new addition was her apartment.
She smiled as she walked in. Her bed sat in the middle of the place. “My nice large bed,” she grinned.
The bathroom was off to the left and the kitchen separated from the rest of the room by a counter was the perfect size for her. Not that she used it much anyway. She could only make brownies.
“Well that’s not completely true,” she muttered absently. “I can make other things…”
She tried thinking of more things but finally gave up. After her long shift at Kelly’s she was beat so she took a quick shower then got into bed and hoped she’d fall asleep quickly.
“And like everything else in my life I don’t get my way,” she muttered an hour later. She’d tossed and turned and was uncomfortable and now she was on her second cup of hot chocolate.
Her mind drifted to him again. She’d been thinking of Jason all day. “I can’t do it,” she whispered. “I can’t stop what I feel,”
She needed to get in touch with Ric, she didn’t want to lead him on, let him think that she felt something other then friendship for him. Suddenly feeling very drowsy she made her way to the bathroom and brushed her teeth.
When she settled into bed and turned off the lights she made a mental note to call Ric in the morning. She smiled sleepily and burrowed her head further into her pillow.
“Jason…” she sighed.
Puerto Rico
A few hours later “Yeah I know,” Jason said warily into the phone. “But I’m done. Someone wrote down the wrong amount in one of the books and everything snowballed from there,”
His eyes were blurry from working with numbers and all he wanted to do was shower and go home.
He sighed heavily at Sonny’s words. “…No it’s fine. Sonny I went over every thing carefully. It was a mistake, it won’t happen again,” he assured.
“Sonny…I’m done here so I’m going back to Port Charles tonight,” he said.
“Yeah…that might be a good idea.” Sonny said.
Jason frowned when he heard that. “What’s going on? Is everyone okay?” he asked.
“I’ll tell you when you get back.” Sonny replied. “Listen…are you positive that everything’s taken care of?” Sonny asked.
“Yes I’m sure.” Jason replied. “I made sure of it.”
“Alright…I’ll see you when you get back then,” Sonny said.
“Later,” Jason said then hung up. A minute later he picked up the phone and asked that the jet me ready within the hour.
He bounded up the stairs to take a quick shower. With a small grin on his face he lathered up his body and thought of seeing her again. He knew what he had to do, only this time…this time it’d be different.
“This time she’ll come first,” he whispered. “First, Last, and Always,”

Chapter 11 - Changes
Harbor View Towers Early the next morning When Carly had gotten home the previous night she’d kissed Sonny then wordlessly made her way upstairs. She’d been aware of the puzzled look on his face…she’d seen it reflected in the mirror.
She felt him shift closer to her and smiled when he draped an arm over her. “You awake?” he asked softly.
She nodded and turned to face him. “What happened last night?” she asked softly.
He closed his eyes and shook his head.
“She said that she’s working with Jacks,”
Carly’s eyes widened and then she burst out laughing. Sonny couldn’t help but join in; her laugh always brought a smile to his face and a lightening to his heart. He wiped the tears that were now trailing down her cheeks and waited for her to compose herself.
“Well at least you know that she was lying,” she said shaking her head.
She, Brenda and a few of the guards were the only ones who knew that Jacks and Sonny had called a truce over three months ago. She smiled softly when she remembered the afternoon she and Brenda had informed their significant others to either call a truce or they’d really know what the word abstain meant.
The two men had readily agreed and formed an uncomfortable yet peaceful truce.
“So where is she? Not that I really care…” she muttered.
“Warehouse,” he replied simply as he ran his hands up and down her back.
He leaned down to kiss her but she pulled back. “I-I,” she muttered then jumped off the bed and ran into the bathroom.
She hadn’t said anything to him yet and she knew that he’d ask her what was going on as soon as she opened the door but she didn’t want him worrying about her.
“Carly, you okay?” he asked. She flushed the toilet and stood she brushed her teeth and then opened the door. On the other side stood Sonny, a concerned look on his face.
She smiled lightly at him and walked passed him to the bed. She didn’t lie down like he thought she would but instead she looked over her shoulder at him and motioned at him to walk closer.
“What do you see when you look at me?” she asked softly.
“The woman I love,” he replied. “A spitfire who keeps me on my toes,”
She turned and faced him and he was puzzled when she pulled her nightgown tighter around her body.
“What do you see now?” she asked.
His eyes roamed over her body and he sucked in a breath. When his eyes met hers she nodded. “Oh my God,” he whispered.
Her stomach that had once been flat was now slightly rounded, her breasts were heavier and her face was fuller. He’d been so caught up in himself that he hadn’t noticed the changes occurring to his wife.
“This isn’t from eating hamburgers you know,” she said smiling.
He sank to his knees and kissed her stomach then pulled back and looked up at her.
“You’ve been eating hamburgers?”
Elizabeth’s Studio She groaned when she heard the knock at her door. “Whoever it is has a death wish,” she mumbled as she stumbled out of bed.
She’d been in the middle of an incredible dream. Jason and she had gone for a ride…his motorcycle hadn’t been involved.
She yanked open the door and sighed. “Do you have any idea what time it is? You know some people consider this early and…“ she trailed off.
“I didn’t mean to wake you,” he said taking in her appearance.
“Jason?” she whispered not believing that he was standing at her door.
She shook her head and muttered, “I must still be dreaming,”
He leaned against the doorframe and smiled slightly. “You were dreaming about me?”
“This must be a dream because you never tease anyone,” she mumbled. She was about to close the door but he placed his hand on the door to halt her.
“This isn’t dream,” he said. “But if it were we’d be doing a lot more then standing at the door.”
He stepped through the door and closed it behind him.
Her eyes widened and she shook her head trying to clear it. “You’re supposed to be in Puerto Rico,” she whispered.
“I was…and now I’m where I want to be,” he said firmly. She backed away from him and shook her head. “You probably shouldn’t be here,” she whispered.
“Why not?” he asked confused. “I told you before I left that things had changed.”
“But they never do,” she whispered. “You said you’d try before and look what happened,”
She let out a deep breath and held up her hand. “You know what…it’s way too early for this,”
He nodded in agreement then tilted her chin up. “But it’s never to early for this,” he said and then placed his lips over hers.

Chapter 12 This is Real
Elizabeth’s Studio “You’re supposed to be in Puerto Rico,” she whispered.
She automatically closed her eyes when his warm lips met hers. She was convinced that this wasn’t real. There was no way that it could be. Jason wasn’t this forward, he wasn’t this open.
But it felt real and so damn good. She finally pulled away when the need for oxygen became necessary.
“You can open your eyes,” he whispered in her ear. His breath tickled her skin and she opened her eyes. “Convinced that I’m real?” he asked stroking her bottom lip.
“I don’t know…I might need some more convincing,” she whispered. She looked at the clock on the table and saw that it was 8:00 am. “I have a couple of hours until I have to get to work…”
He smiled and scooped her into his arms. “A couple of hours won’t do,” he whispered.
“What will?” she asked breathlessly.
He slid her down his body and shrugged off his jacket. “A couple days sounds more like it,”
She pulled off her top and watched him pull his shirt over his head. “Okay…”
“Okay what?” he asked kissing her neck.
“You’re definitely real,” she whispered. “I’m convinced that this isn’t a dream,”
“You want me to stop?” he asked unclasping her bra. He pulled back and gazed into her eyes. She shook her head and fell back onto the bed pulling him on top of her.
“If you stop I’ll kill you myself,” she said.
“What about Ric?” he asked.
“Who’s Ric?” she whispered. “What about Courtney?”
“Courtney…never heard of her,” he said as he pulled her bottoms off. She started to push his jeans and boxer briefs down and was about to feel how real he was.
Just then they heard something start to ring. Groaning she pulled his cell phone out of the pocket of his jeans and handed it to him. He took it from her and looked into her eyes. Then he smiled and flung it across the room.
Harbor View Towers “He’s not answering,” Sonny said hanging up.
“He’s probably busy,” Carly said. “Besides we don’t have to tell him this very second,” she grinned.
“Yeah you’re right…” he conceded. She arched a brow and smiled. “Excuse me? What was that?”
“Did you just say that I’m right?” she asked. She looked around the room causing him to frown.
“What?” he asked.
“No witnesses and no tape recorder. No one is going to believe me,” she said. He broke into laughter and pulled her onto his lap.
“Yeah well they wouldn’t believe it if they heard it anyway,” he said. She rested her forehead to his and smiled. “Well this should come as nothing new to you but you’re right,”
“I could produce a signed document and no one would believe me.” she said.
“That’s right,” he grinned.
“I mean convincing people to believe that you said I’m right is like convincing Brenda that Courtney looks good in anything sleeveless…it’s just not going to happen.” she stated.
“She is a little built isn’t she,”
“A little? Sonny please…if you mean little like a linebacker then yeah okay she’s a little built,” she said rolling her eyes.
He placed his hand on her stomach and forgot about his non-sister the linebacker. “This is real…” he whispered.
Carly smiled and placed her hand over his and nodded. “Yeah this is real,”
Brenda’s Cottage She groaned when she heard ringing. “No…” she groaned. “Someone stop the noises,”
“Ah! Fine you win!” she exclaimed picking up the phone. “What?” she asked into it.
“And here I thought that you were raised to be polite,” she heard.
“Oh shut up Carly. We both know you never thought of anything polite concerning me,” Brenda said. She looked at the alarm clock next to her and groaned. “Why are you calling me so early?” she asked.
“You want some cheese with that whine?” Carly asked.
“Ha ha Carly. Did you stay up all night coming up with these? Now what do you want?” she asked.
“Did stamina guy tell you about Skipper?” Carly asked. “That’s why you’re tired right? The wonder from down under kept you up all night,”
Brenda grinned and leaned back onto the bed. “Nope…you’re wrong about that my naturally brunette friend. I kept him up all night,”
“Oh God…I didn’t need to know that. I shouldn’t have made that last comment. I’m going to have to shower after we hang up,” Carly groaned.
“In all seriousness Carly. What’s going on?” the former model asked.
“Well sit down if you’re not already,” Carly said. “I already am now spit it out,” Brenda insisted.
“Johnny called me earlier Jason’s at Elizabeth’s studio,” Carly said. Brenda shot up from her position and screamed.
“Dammit Brenda! I need this eardrum!” Carly exclaimed.
“How long has he been there?” Brenda asked.
“Well…according to Johnny long enough for there to be a lot of noise coming through the door,” Carly replied.
“Hey I bet that’s not the only thing that’s coming.” Brenda laughed. “Was Johnny listening at the door or something? Gees that’s pretty gross. I mean I knew he needed to get laid but to listen at someone’s door is a little much.”
She heard Sonny laughing at the other end and she felt her eyes widen. “Carly…” she said with a calmness she didn’t feel. “Did you put me on speaker phone?” she asked.
“Yeah she did Barrett and I’m going to get you for that remark about my sex life,” Johnny said.

Chapter 13 I love you, I’ll kill you
Elizabeth’s Studio “I can’t believe you just did that,” she whispered.
“It’s been a long time coming,” he said. He couldn’t believe that he was lying on top of Elizabeth-a very warm, curvy and naked Elizabeth.
“Jason?” she whispered questioningly. “You’re staring…”
“I know,” he whispered. “You are so beautiful,”
“I’ve been waiting for this for a long time and I want to remember this moment for the rest of my life. I never thought it would happen and now that it is…I want to revel in it,” he replied softly. “The look in your eyes, the way your skin feels against mine, the way it feels sliding into you, I want to remember all of it,”
“You can’t remember it if you never do it,” she said coyly. He kissed her then pouring four years of pent up emotions into the kiss. No other kiss they’d shared could compare to the one they were experiencing at that moment. This kiss was filled with hope and love not betrayal and angst.
She trembled when she felt his hands sliding slowly down her body. She wanted to remember each touch, wanted to remember the way his calloused hands stroked her, they way he almost reverently cupped her breasts.
“Jason…” she groaned, arching into his palms. “You’re so beautiful Elizabeth…so perfect,” he whispered. “I love your body,”
“Yours isn’t bad either…” she sighed. “I’d say it’s just about perfect…”
“Just about?” he smiled. “I’m going to have to improve that,”
“Go ahead and try…I don’t mind,” she panted, when she felt his slide down her body.
“Oh God…” she moaned, feeling the tip of his tongue on one of her nipples. He stroked and squeezed one softly while he licked and nibbled on the other. She almost had an orgasm when he started sucking on them.
She stopped him when she felt him slide further down her body. He kissed her just below her naval then slid up and claimed her lips. He rolled their bodies so that she was on top of him then leaned back and watched her.
“I’ve wanted this for so long,” she confessed. “So have I,” he smiled. She kissed his neck and chest savoring the sight and taste of his perfect body. She reached behind her and cupped his straining length. He couldn’t help himself and thrust into her hand. She could barely wrap her hand around him...he was so big. “Elizabeth…” he groaned when she started stroking. He almost lost control when she squeezed him softly.
“I want you,” she whispered in his ear. “Now,”
He rolled so that she was beneath him and he situated himself between her legs his erection pulsing and alive between her heat. “Please Jason…I can’t wait any longer,” she gasped.
He smiled as he opened her legs wider then touched his fingers lightly against her wanting to make sure she was ready for his entrance. Her arousal coated his fingers and two fingers slid in easily. She started rocking her hips against his hand but he stilled her with his other hand.
“Not yet,” he whispered.
“If not now when?” she groaned. Her eyes widened when he added a third finger. “Oh my…” she gasped. He slid his fingers out and finally he slid slowly into her. They moaned in pleasure. He was bigger then she was accustomed to but she sure wasn’t complaining. He slid halfway into her and smiled when she protested. “Jason please! I need all of you inside me!” she gasped. He rocked his body forward and slid his entire length into her hot core. “Are you okay?” he asked softly. “I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
She shook her head and smiled. “Don’t stop,” she whispered. “You feel so good…” she moaned. She pulled him closer to herself and wrapped her legs around him then lifted her hips each time he thrust into her.
“I love you,” he whispered.
“I love you too,” she whispered staring deep into his eyes. “Show me how much,” he commanded softly.
“Just try and stop me,” she whispered.
Brenda’s Cottage She stared at the note in her hands in complete shock. She’d come downstairs after Carly called and had seen it. He didn’t even have the decency to tell her in person that he was going out of town. They’d spent the entire night together yet he’d chosen to leave her a measly one-sentence note.
“Ass,” she muttered. She picked up a framed photograph from the coffee table and hurled it at the door.
“What the hell!” Johnny exclaimed ducking. “Gees Barrett! At least give a little warning…”
“Try knocking!” she snapped. “What the hell are you doing here anyway?” she asked, pushing her hair out of her face. “Do you always walk into someone’s house without knocking?”
He considered her question for a moment then smiled. “Well…yeah,” he replied. She started laughing and soon they were both cracking up. “I guess etiquette classes aren’t required in your line of work,” she said.
“It depends I guess…but since I spend most of my time around Carly those classes wouldn’t do me any good,” he said. “I guess not,” she smiled.
“I mean really…what am I supposed to say? ‘Please miss don’t slap Carly, she didn’t mean to call you a cheap slut,”
She started laughing again after she calmed down she took one of his hands in her. “Thank you Johnny…I needed that,”
“Are you alright?” he asked, stroking his thumb over her fingers. “What happened?”
“Jax went out of town and didn’t have the nerve to say goodbye to me in person. He did however leave me a stupid note,” she replied. “He made me feel so cheap,” she whispered.
“You’re not cheap Barrett…you’re far from it,”
“Thank you,” she whispered. “But Jax sure as hell doesn’t think so…not anymore anyway.” She smiled sadly and threaded her fingers through his. “I think my relationship with Jax has run its course,”
“Too bad…” Johnny smiled.
Harbor View Towers After she’d gotten off the phone with Brenda she’d gone back upstairs and had fallen asleep. Sonny had woken her up to tell her he was going to the warehouse and he’d be back in a couple of hours she remembered that he’d kissed her and she remembered his laugh as he’d walked out of the room.
Two hours later she was awake and hungry. She hopped out of bed and walked into the huge closet. She pulled some shoeboxes out and pushed against the wall. She grinned when she saw the bag of chips and a packet of skittles. She pulled them out and made sure that the panel was securely in place before she headed into the bedroom again. She ripped into the bags and downed the contents in a matter of minutes. She vaguely heard the door open downstairs and she hurried to get rid of the bags before Sonny came upstairs.
“Sonny?” she called, heading down. “Sonny?” she called again. Frowning she pulled the door open. “That’s weird…” she muttered. “Where the hell is Max?” she wondered.
That’s when she felt it. She’d felt that pressure before, numerous times in fact, she was married to a mob boss after all. “Move and I’ll blow your brains out,”
“C-Courtney?” she stuttered.
“You didn’t think you’d gotten rid of me yet, did you?” Courtney whispered into her ear.

Chapter 14 Elizabeth’s Studio Jason reached out for Elizabeth and frowned when he discovered that she wasn’t lying next to him.
“Elizabeth,” he called out sleepily.
He sat up and swung his legs over the side of the bed. A second later he heard the door open in the next room.
He was pulling his boxers on when she walked in. “Don’t get dressed on my account,” she commented.
“I woke up and missed you,” he said coming up behind her and wrapping his arms around her. “Where’d you go?” he asked huskily.
“To Kelly’s,” she replied. “I don’t have any coffee here so I went to get you some,”
“You didn’t have to do that,” he protested.
“I know…but I wanted to,” she said with a shrug. “Besides I haven’t gone grocery shopping yet and I wanted some breakfast,”
“The truth comes out,” he teased. “You didn’t really go out for me but for yourself,”
She turned within his arms and smiled up at him. “Did I just break your heart?” she asked.
“Yeah baby…you’ve wounded me deeply,” he sighed.
She started laughing and playfully smacked his arm. “You’re such a nut,” she grinned.
“Yeah but you love me anyway,” he stated.
“True,” she conceded. “Very true,”
“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered.
“You’re just saying that because you want your coffee,” she said.
“True,” he said.
“Hey!” she exclaimed.
Kelly’s “You know I’m glad you decided to have lunch with me,” Brenda said between bites.
“So am I…” Johnny said in wonderment. “I’ve never seen anyone wolf down a hamburger as fast as you do,”
“Excuse me?” Brenda asked arching an eyebrow. “I do not wolf down anything I just eat fast,”
“What’s the difference?” he asked.
“There’s a difference,” she stammered.
“Uh huh…” he grinned. “Which would be?”
“Oh shut up,” she said.
“Is today like your day off?” she asked. “Does Sonny give you a day off? How does one go about becoming a mob enforcer?”
“You’re too much Barrett,” he said shaking his head.
“Do you have a 401K?” she asked.
“Okay it’s your turn to shut up,” he said laughing.
“If we both shut up how are we going to decide who pays the bill?” she asked.
“Oh gees,” he chuckled. “You’re crazy, you know that right?”
“Yeah well I might be crazy but you know what….you’re out with me so that doesn’t say too much about you now does it,” she stated.
“Are you going to eat that pickle?” she asked.
He grinned then and knew he had her. “No…I’m not. You can eat my pickle,” he grinned.
She leveled her gaze to his and smiled. “You wish Johnny boy,”
“You have no idea,” he thought as he watched her take a bite.
Harbor View Towers “Move and I’ll blow your brains out,”
“C-Courtney?” she stuttered.
“You didn’t think you’d gotten rid of me yet, did you?” Courtney whispered into her ear.
“Courtney there’s no way you’re going to get away with this,” Carly tried to reason.
“Says who?” Courtney asked. “Max is dead blondie…blondie, listen to me I made a funny. You’re about as blonde as Bobbie is a redhead, anyway don’t think he’ll be helping you anytime soon,”
“Leave my mother out of this,” Carly warned. “Oh God…Max,” she thought.
“Who cares about that slut anyway?” Courtney asked.
“You’re never going to get away with this,” Carly warned again.
“Oh really? Well it looks to me like I already have,” Courtney grinned. “You know I was planning on kidnapping you and killing you somewhere else but I’ve changed my mind. I’ll just do it here. That way when Sonny opens the door he’ll see you’re dead body and then he’ll know that he’s not safe anywhere,”
“And Michael?” Carly asked.
“What about him?” Courtney asked.
“You’d let him see what you’ve done? What you’re planning to do?” Carly asked.
“Sure,” Courtney shrugged. “You think I give a rats ass about him? she asked laughing. “I can’t stand him Carly. Your son is so fucking annoying! Uncle Jason this, Uncle Jason that, Aunt Courtney do this, comes help me with this,” she mocked. “The kid is about as useful as you are, which isn’t much,”
“But don’t worry about him,” she said coldly. “As soon as I get the chance I’ll kill him too,”
“It’s not like anyone will miss him all that much I’m sure I’m not the only one that can’t stand him,” she commented.
Neither woman noticed the door opening slowly. Carly afraid for her life could only stare at the gun Courtney was aiming at her, Courtney for what was maybe the second time in her life was actually concentrating on something.
She took a deep breath and raised her eyes to Courtney’s. “Goodbye,” she whispered. Then the shot rang out.
