Authors Note:
This story takes place after the accident (after the non-wedding of Lucky & Elizabeth)
A couple of changes to the story
Elizabeth remembered what happened while she was in the hospital. She wasn’t hurt as badly as they feared and mainly only had a concussion that made her memory fuzzy for a bit.
Lucky didn’t know what Nik & Gia were doing but he and Sarah had a “thing” for each other and were making with the smoochies, etc. They were talking about it one day at the hospital in Elizabeth’s room while they “thought” she was asleep and Elizabeth broke up with Lucky. They of course never all moved in together.
Elizabeth did tell the police and Gia received a fine for DUI and has to do several hours of community service and had her license suspended for 6months. Nik pleaded guilty to the charges of bribing a witness and trying to cover up for Gia. Alexis got him off with a fine and a suspended sentence.
Courtney is still MIA with AJ.
Lucky is still trying to get Elizabeth back.
Jason is not back in town “yet”

Chapter 1
Elizabeth had been out of the hospital about a week and she was feeling better then she had felt in a long time. Not physically because she was still a bit sore from the accident but mentally and emotionally she felt great. She had finally freed herself from Lucky. Of course Lucky did not take the break up well and still was trying to win her back. Saying she should give him another chance, permanent lock, blah, blah, blah. She was just sick of it, sick of everybody telling her that she belonged with Lucky. She sighed to herself after what happened today she was not only moving out of Kelly’s but it looked like she was also going to be quitting her job there as well. She sighed again thinking back to earlier in the day as she walked along the docks to her studio.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The bell on the door rang and Elizabeth looked up ready to meet the first customer. Her heart sank it was Lucky. He was probably here in his latest attempt to get her to take him back. After she broke up with him Lucky had used every opportunity to try to get her back. At least while she was in the hospital she could tell them she didn’t want visitors, but even then Lucky had tried and she had had to call someone to have him removed from her room. And then she had to put up with Sarah who every time she was at work tried to convince Elizabeth to take Lucky back. Which she couldn’t understand since Sarah and Lucky were sleeping together behind her back before she broke up with Lucky. You would think Sarah would be happy she and Lucky weren’t together. She was so sick of it and when it was suggested that they all move in together she almost puked she didn’t want to live that close to those two, but that was all before she had that startling revelation that Gia was the one that caused the accident. After Elizabeth told the police they all just kind of went off the idea of living together. She snickered to herself I wonder why
Lucky made his way up to the counter and sat down on one of the stools there. Elizabeth came over and set a glass of water on the counter and asked him what he wanted. He had started right in saying he wanted her back, blah, blah … she just tuned him out and started to walk away some other customers had walked in and set down. That had made Lucky angry and he started to raise his voice more then usual. She had never noticed before but since Lucky came back it seemed like he talked louder most of the time like he was trying not to yell. Anyway help had come from the most unexpected place when Detective Taggert came in to get a cup of coffee on the way to the station. He straight out told Lucky to leave her alone and let her work and Lucky had left in a huff. She had then thanked him and gave him his coffee on the house; he left a few minutes later. She knew then that she would need to move and after the breakfast rush was over Tammy gave her some time to move her things. Tammy understood her need to move after Elizabeth explained why she had broke things off with Lucky.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Elizabeth sighed to herself as she walked taking the last box to her studio with her things from Kelly’s. After what happened this afternoon over lunch she was seriously thinking of getting another job. She needed a job that would not put her close to Lucky or any of her old friends. I wish Emily were here she thought or … No; I can’t think of him, he is gone. I chased him away but still he would listen to me I would have someone to talk to that would not judge me or try to tell me what to do. He would… her thoughts abruptly stopped when she stumbled on the steps she was so lost in her thoughts she wasn’t paying attention to where she was going. She let go of the box to try to catch herself when a pair of strong hands grabbed her from behind.
Elizabeth stiffened for a moment and then jerked back and tried to elbow the person that grabbed her in the ribs. She didn’t like people grabbing her from behind it made her remember the night in the park. The person let go quickly but only after they made sure she wasn’t going to fall. She turned around quickly and gasped at whom she saw.
“Take it easy Miss Webber. Its only me, it looked like you were going to fall I didn’t want you to get hurt falling down the steps. Especially since you just got out of the hospital less then 10 days ago. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Elizabeth relaxed “That’s ok. Thanks for catching me I can just imagine what would have happened if I would have fallen. If anybody found out they would be hovering like a bunch of vultures fighting over who should take care of poor Elizabeth”
“You sure you are ok?” he said quirking an eyebrow at her wondering where that came from.
“Yeah, sorry bad day” she replied giving a sigh. She turned and went down the steps to pick up the box she had been carrying. It had tumbled down the steps to rest on the docks Thank goodness nothing was breakable she thought to herself.
Her rescuer followed her down the steps “It got worse? He didn’t come back did he?”
Elizabeth put the box down on the bench and turned back around “No, he didn’t come back, it was someone else but the same story. How I should give Lucky a second chance, blah, blah. Don’t these people understand that this was like his millionth chance?” she hadn’t really been looking at him until she asked that and realized they had no idea what she was talking about. She whirled around to grab her box with a muttered “sorry”
“No. That’s ok I don’t really know what you are talking about but I know what it cost you to tell the truth about the accident and I would listen if you needed to talk.”
Her eyes widened for a moment the box slipping out of her hands to rest back on the bench. She slowly turned around to stare at him in surprise she couldn’t believe he really said that after all her telling the truth could have landed his own sister in jail. It didn’t but still they were family.
For his part Taggert just smiled at her for a moment and then continued, “I know you lost some friends because of that I just hope that it wasn’t the reason you and Lucky Spencer broke up. And even through it did get my sister into some trouble I am glad you told the truth. I wouldn’t want to have an innocent person blamed for something they didn’t do even if it was Sonny Corinthos sister” his smile taking the bite out of his words.
Elizabeth blushed faintly “Thanks” she said quietly looking at her feet. Then she turned to pick the box up again but to her surprise he stepped up and took it from her.
“Where are you headed?”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that.” She said reaching for the box
He backed up “It’s ok, this way I can be sure you are not going to fall again. Then you don’t have to worry about those vultures you mentioned earlier,” he said giving her a small grin
Elizabeth smirked at him “Alright if you insist. I am going to my new place of residence”
“And where would that be?”
“My studio”
“Your studio? Are you sure? I mean –“ he stopped when he caught a glare from her and decided to finish by saying something else “Why are you moving?” as if he really had to ask after hearing the way Lucky spoke to her this morning. Thinking back to that morning when he stopped by to get a cup of coffee at Kelly’s. He had walked up to the counter to order a cup to go and heard Lucky speaking to Elizabeth. He didn’t understand it but the way Spencer spoke to her just rubbed him the wrong way this morning. And put him in a foul mood most of the day. Here this girl went to hell and back for this kid and this is how she got treated. No wonder she decided to break it off with Spencer. The only problem is the kid didn’t seem to get the hint.
“Oh come on you saw the main reason this morning” Elizabeth said walking in the direction of the studio.
“Yeah I guess I did.” He was quiet for a minute “He do that often?”
“Huh? – Oh you mean does he talk to me like that often?” she said glancing at him and he nodded “I never really noticed until lately. But now that I have had time to think about it Lucky has been treating me like that for a long time. I think that hit on the head I got actually knocked some sense into me.” She chuckled
He gave a small laugh and shook his head amazed that she could joke about the accident this woman was something else.
They walked in silence for the rest of the walk to the studio
“You don’t know of anybody that is hiring do you. I might be looking for a new job,” she asked turning to take the box from him after she opened her door.
“You quitting Kelly’s?” he asked surprised
“I think after this afternoon it would be a good idea”
“What happened?” he asked Elizabeth quirked an eyebrow at him. He decided to change the subject “You know if you are going to be living here full time you should at least get the door replaced. It would be safer.”
Elizabeth rolled her eyes taking the box from him “Not you too” turning to put it down.
“What?”
“You sound just like somebody else” she said annoyed turning back to face him
“Sorry, its just this isn’t the best area of town and –“ he started
“Yeah, yeah I know I have already been told. But I can’t stay at Kelly’s anymore”
“Well, why don’t you move in with me?” he said and Elizabeth’s eyes widened for a moment and then he realized what he said and quickly back pedaled “I – I mean why don’t you move into the Brownstone there is an extra room still there. I am sure Bobbie would let you stay there”
“I don’t think that would be a good idea”
“Why not?”
“Well for one reason Lucky could still get in there to talk to me and the second is after what I told Bobbie today I don’t think she will want to talk to me let alone give me a place to stay” he looked at her confused. “You asked me about what happened to today why don’t you sit down and I will tell you” Elizabeth said inviting him into the studio.
He looked at her oddly for a moment and then nodded taking a step through the doorway noticing all the boxes setting around the room. He walked over to the only chair in the room besides the couch. The couch was currently covered with more of her stuff and there was on room to sit down on it.
Elizabeth closed the door and went over and sat on the coffee table turning to face him. For some reason she felt like she could tell him and he would actually listen to her. So she proceeded to tell him about her day and about Bobbie ambushing her about Lucky.
“So I told her that somebody with as many last names as she had should be the last person giving anybody advice about love.” She finished
He jus sat there for a moment looking at her and then started to chuckle
“It’s not funny. Bobbie has always been nice to me and then I say something like that”
“Sorry, I was just trying to imagine the look on her face when you said that to her.”
Elizabeth just stared at him for a moment and then the corner of her mouth started to twitch as she remembered the look on Bobbie’s face she tried to stop it but a bark of laughter escaped her.
He just smiled at her “Sorry, well what about your Grandmother. I am sure she would love to have you stay with her.”
Elizabeth looked at him getting annoyed again and stood up “I can’t, Sarah is staying with her”
“Doesn’t she have room?”
“No, that is not the problem. Lucky cheated on me with Sarah” she told him.
He just looked back at her stunned. Elizabeth continued to speak but he was lost in his thoughts. He couldn’t believe it here this girl practically turned herself inside out for Spencer and he is cheating on her with her own sister. What kind of people are they to do something like that. Then he realized she had just asked him something “What?”
“I said how would you feel if the person you were dating decided the cheat on you with your sister?”
He gave her a perplexing look and rubbed the back of his neck “Well –” looking down at the floor for a moment and then he heard a snicker. He looked up to see Elizabeth trying not to laugh but at seeing his face she burst out laughing causing him to laugh as well.
“I can not believe I just asked you that” she said when she got her breath back.
“That’s ok” he said still shaking from laughter and then he stood up “I better go I wanted to see if I could catch Gia before she went home” walking toward the door “Listen, if you are sure about living here could you at least think about some sort self defense”
“What do you mean?” She asked him “I don’t like weapons very much”
“It doesn’t have to be a weapon. You would learn some sort of martial arts there are lots classes for that”
“I did after--- after the park. But they didn’t really teach much. I was going to take another class but after Lucky came back things got sort of sidetracked.”
“What you did on the docks was that part of what they taught you?”
“Yeah” he just looked down giving a small shake of his head “That bad huh?”
“Well, it could be better” looking back up “If you are still interested stop by the station one day this week. A lot of us know where you can get a good class. Some of the officers even give them or would be willing to teach you. Most of them don’t charge anything or if they do its not too much.”
“Thanks, I just might do that Detective Taggart” Elizabeth said giving him a bright smile “You better go if you want to catch Gia”
“Right” opening the door “Bye, Miss Webber”
“It’s Elizabeth” she said before he shut the door
He stopped turning back “Only if you call me Marcus” smiling at her
“Of course” she said she told him
He smiled again and shut the door leaving Elizabeth standing in the middle of her studio wondering what just happened and why all of a sudden she was getting along so well with Marcus Taggert.

Chapter 2
It had been 2 weeks since Elizabeth moved out of Kelly’s she was still working there but things were strained. Bobbie was still singing Lucky’s praises and had tried on more than one occasion to convince Elizabeth to give him another chance. Elizabeth was actively looking for another job she didn’t want to let them dictate her life. Bobbie had started first thing when Elizabeth got to work today, which put her in a totally bad mood. This unfortunately affected her work and she must have earned the lowest amount of tips since she first started working at Kelly’s. She had finally told Bobbie to shut up but it was too late her day was ruined. The only good thing about her day was that she closed and by that time everyone else had gone home.
Elizabeth sighed when she saw her building and stepped up her pace a bit she just wanted this day to be over. She stomped up the stairs to her door with her key in hand. Opening the door she turned closing the door and flipping on the lights and locked the door.
“It’s about time you got here,” a male voice said
Elizabeth whirled around her eyes wide “What are you doing here?”
“I came to talk to you,” he said
“I don’t want to talk to you. Get out” she said opening the door glaring at Lucky
“Come on Elizabeth. What is your problem? Why are you making this so difficult?” he whined
Elizabeth rubbed her hand across her forehead “Look Lucky I am not the one being difficult. You are the one that can’t let go. Why can’t you just get over it? I don’t want to be with you. You don’t even love me so why are you doing this?” she said tiredly
“Elizabeth if you would just take me back I know I can love you we just have to get back to where we were.” Lucky said walking over to her.
“You don’t get it do you Lucky? I don’t want to go back or get anything back. I don’t want to be with you and yes it may be partly because you don’t love me but it is also because I don’t love you.” She said angrily
“You don’t mean that” he said tears in his eyes “We could be good together just give me a chance I can recreate the past we could remember all the good times” he pleaded
“No” she said firmly and then she gasped as a dark look passed over Lucky’s face
CRACK!!!
Elizabeth stood there holding her cheek staring at Lucky
“You ungrateful bitch!! I made you!! I pulled you out of those bushes after Baker had his fun. I put the pieces of your broken pathetic life together and made you!!” he raged
“GET OUT!!!!” she screamed at him
He stood his ground staring at her with hard eyes.
She reached over grabbing her cordless phone “Get out or I am calling 911 and having you arrested” she stated her eyes narrowing
Lucky snorted and turned to leave
“Oh and Lucky?” he paused at the door waiting for her to continue “There will be no free pass for this” she said coldly. He looked back and for a second she thought he was not going to leave but he just shook his head and left.
Elizabeth sighed and sagged against her table for a moment then rushed over to the door slamming it shut and locking it. Then she remembered Lucky still had a key and swore thinking she should have gotten it back from him. She shoved her table up against the door then flopped down on the couch. Her cheek started to throb so she got up and went to her small frig and pulled out a can of soda to hold against it since she didn’t have any ice. She didn’t know what to do she would have never believed Lucky to get violent. She did know one thing she would not be his punching bag and she would be quitting Kelly’s tomorrow even though she didn’t have another job. She started to shake and tears started running down her face. Elizabeth picked up her phone dialing a number. Please pick up. she thought as it rang.
”Hello” a deep voice answered
“Hello” her voice cracked
”Elizabeth? What’s wrong? Are you ok?” a concerned voice came from the other end
“No, I know its late b-but can you come over here? I-I don’t know what to do.” She asked
”I’ll be right over. they answered
“Ok, thanks” she said hanging up
20 mins later
Knock Knock
“Elizabeth?” he waited and then saw the shade move as she checked to see who it was. He heard a scraping sound of something being moved before she flipped the lock and opened the door. She had her head down as she stepped back to let him in to the studio. He walked past her and waited while she closed the door.
“What’s wrong?” he asked and then hissed through his teeth when she looked up at him. “What happened!? Who did this?” he asked stepping over to her.
Elizabeth gave a small gasp and he stopped “Sorry” he said
“No, it is not you it is me sometimes I can’t help it” she said looking down “I didn’t know who else to call. I know we have only talked a few times and stuff but I just thought you would know what I should do.” She said as a way of an apology
“Hey, its ok. Just tell me what happened and who did this.” He said
Elizabeth took a deep breath “He scared me tonight Marcus. He was waiting in the dark when I got home. He said he just wanted to talk to me. When I told him to leave and refused to talk to him he got angry and hit me. I had to threaten to call the police so he would leave.” She said walking over to sit on the couch
“Who?” he asked sitting on the arm of the couch
“Lucky. I mean I know he is upset about the break up but I never thought he would do this. He hit me and called me names. He really scared me tonight I wasn’t sure what he was going to do. After he left I was sitting here and I was just so confused I didn’t know who else to call. I thought maybe you could help me. I know if I press charges they won’t stick because it is just he word against mine. I just--- what happened to the Lucky that used to sleep on my floor to make sure I didn’t get scared at night?” she finished chewing on her bottom lip
Marcus rubbed the back of his neck “How did he get in?” pretty much knowing the answer already
“Lucky has a key” Elizabeth said softly “I didn’t think to get it back from him when I broke it off and tonight I was to surprised by his actions that I didn’t even remember to ask for it back until after he left.”
Marcus nodded getting up to walk around a bit “Well first you need to get new locks”
“Yeah I know I would prefer a new door but I can’t really afford that especially with me quitting Kelly’s in the morning.”
“You sure you want to do that? Did you find a new job?” he asked
“Yes I am sure I am not going to be around him anymore. Plus then I don’t have to put up with the rest of his family trying to get me to take him back. I have a bit saved I will be ok until I find something. So what do you think I should do? Any suggestions?” she said
“Well the way I see it you have a few options. One you could do nothing just get new locks and let it go. Two you could press charges but as you said it is your word against his. Three you could come down with me to the PD and we could at least file a complaint against him so the PD will be aware. This way if he keeps bothering you we can consider it stalking and we can arrest him or get a restraining order against him.” He said while walking around the room
“Wow is that it?” she asked grinning
Marcus stopped walking around rubbed the back of his neck again. He seemed to be struggling with something and then he gave a small nod to himself “You could probably talk to Corinthos. After you helped his sister he would most likely help you with this.” He said quietly
Elizabeth’s jaw dropped open Marcus Taggert was suggesting that she go to Sonny for help. She closed her mouth and took a deep breath “um-“ she paused not knowing what to say “I bet that hurt.” She finished giving him a small grin
“You have no idea,” he mumbled under his breath sitting down on the couch
Elizabeth gave a small giggle at the look on his face “No, I don’t think I will ask Sonny for help. This has nothing to do with Sonny or his coffee business so it is probably best to leave him out of it.”
Marcus gave a snort at her reference to coffee business “Ok, so that leaves the first three options”
“Well the first option is out I already told Lucky when he left that he doesn’t get a free pass. And I don’t think pressing charges will work so I guess we are left with option 3 of filing a complaint so it is on record.”
“Well then let’s go,” he said getting up
“What now?” she asked surprised
“Yes, best to do this right way that way you don’t forget any details”
Elizabeth sighed, “I guess” chewing her lip getting up grabbing her purse “I never thought he would do something like this. I suppose it was really him that attacked Jason and not then other way around.” She mumbled but Marcus heard her
He looked at he sharply “He attacked Morgan?” he asked incredulous
Elizabeth nodded absently “Yeah at the time I thought it was Jason but now that I think about it and after what he did I believe Lucky was the one that attacked him. Jason told me at the time it was Lucky but I didn’t believe him but I do kind of wonder now.”
Marcus just shook his head thinking about how stupid Lucky was to attack Morgan. “Elizabeth would your landlord let you get a new door.” He asked
She thought for a moment “Well I suppose I know in the lease it says I can make some upgrades to the place as long as it doesn’t cause any type of hazard. The building is zoned as residential. I think he pays someone so that he passes inspection though because I don’t believe everything is up to code but I can’t afford anything else right now so I am not complaining. So to answer your question yeah I could get a new door but I know I would have to pay for it myself and I don’t have that money right now so it doesn’t matter.”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ At the PCPD
Elizabeth and Marcus walked into the squad room it was pretty quiet but considering it was so late Marcus wasn’t really surprised
“Det Taggert? What are you doing here so late?” someone asked from across the room
He looked around spotting the owner of the voice “I am bringing someone in to file a complaint.”
“Really?” they said walking over seeing the young woman that walked in with Marcus. “Miss Webber?” they asked
Elizabeth looked at them “Det Garcia?” smiling “I thought you left PC for the big city? I didn’t know you were back.”
“Yeah the big city wasn’t my deal so when an opening came up back here I moved back. I have only been back a couple of weeks. They got me working the graveyard shift for now.” Smiling at her
“Well that must suck” she smirked at him
“Not really the place I moved into is a fixer upper. This way I can do my work during the day and not keep the people next door awake all night running my power tools.” Giving a small chuckle “so you are here to file a complaint. I hope it is against your ever gave you that nasty bruise.”
Elizabeth’s hand shot up to her cheek her eyes widened. “Is it really that bad? I didn’t even look at it?”
“Why don’t you go check in the washroom? Then meet me over at Det Garcia’s desk” Marcus suggested
Elizabeth nodded and retreated to the washroom to look in the mirror. Tears formed in her eyes as she took in the dark blue bruise on her left cheek. She didn’t think Lucky had slapped her that hard. “I guess the cold soda didn’t help it much,” she mumbled as she exited the washroom her head down. She continued to Det Garcia’s desk and sat in the chair her head still down.
“Elizabeth?” Det Garcia asked seeing bowed head “Look you don’t have anything to be ashamed of. Keep that head held high just like you did when you first walked in here. Don’t let this person win.”
Elizabeth raised her head and gave him a small smile “You are right I am not the victim I am nobody’s victim” she stated firmly
Det Garcia gave her a nod “Ok so lets get this report filled out… um name E-l” he punched at the keys filling in the blanks. “Alright now tell me what happened”
Elizabeth proceeded to explain everything that happened. Garcia couldn’t believe at first that Lucky Spencer would do something like this but after Elizabeth elaborated a bit more he couldn’t deny it.
After they finished everything Elizabeth and Marcus were getting ready to leave when Marcus paused “Hey Andy you don’t know anybody that has a door that Elizabeth could get cheap? She is having her locks changed but would like a new door without a window that has a good lock”
Andy gave a small grin “As a matter of fact I just replaced the door at my place. The old door is still pretty new it just doesn’t go with my ‘renovations’. It has a nice dead bolt, a peephole and a big lock that you can lock once you are inside. I was going to put it in storage or sell it. I would give it to you Miss Webber.”
“On no I would want to pay you for it.”
“It is ok Miss Webber you don’t have to.” Elizabeth went to object again “It is ok to accept help once in awhile Miss Webber”
Elizabeth looked down for a moment thinking hard. “I tell you what I will take the door but I don’t have a way of installing it. If you could come over and install it I will pay you for that.”
Andy started to protest when he saw the look on her face “OK, I tell you what you were going to get new locks right?” she nodded “you pay me what you would have paid for the new locks and we will call it even.”
Elizabeth smiled holding out her hand “It’s a deal. When can you install my door Det Garcia?”
Shaking her hand “I get off tomorrow at 7am. So I should be able to be at your place about 8-8:30. Unless we have a big crime wave during the night.”
Elizabeth wrinkled her nose for a minute thinking about how early that was but she nodded her head “Ok Det Garcia I will see you then. I will warn I am sometimes cranky in the morning.”
“I am off tomorrow so I can stop by and give you a hand.” He held up his hand when Elizabeth started to object “I have done a bit of carpenter work so we can get it done faster. Plus I want to check out the rest of your studio Elizabeth make sure everything is secure.”
Elizabeth glared at him but didn’t say anything. She looked back to Andy “Well I guess I will see you in the morning Det Garcia.” Holding her hand out
Andy took her hand “Are you staying at your studio tonight?”
“Yeah and before you say anything I will shove my table up against the door he won’t be able to get in trust me.”
Andy sighed “Ok in the morning” letting go of her hand
Elizabeth gave him a smile and left the PD with Marcus.
Marcus took her back to her studio and made sure she locked her door and he heard her shove the table against the door. He then went out to his car and waited he wasn’t going to give Spencer a chance to bother Elizabeth again tonight. He snoozed a bit and also made a few rounds by and in Elizabeth’s building. Morning soon came and he met Andy at his truck to help carry the tools and door upstairs to Elizabeth’s studio.
