Prologue
Elizabeth is Alexis’s daughter. She knows this and so does Alexis, but because of the Cassadine family history, not many other people do.
Alexis is on trial, and Kristina is in Ned’s care, but because of his association with Faith, Alexis is beginning to reconsider that decision.
Courtney and Jason, and Jason and Sonny’s falling out never happened. Jason and Elizabeth didn’t break up after Sonny’s ‘death’; Jason told her the truth right after it happened. Their relationship is stronger than ever. And yes, Jason is one of the few people who know that Elizabeth is Alexis’s daughter.
The time is present day, and the courtroom is packed with people awaiting the judge’s ruling. Ned, who also knows about Elizabeth being Alexis’s daughter, is seated next to Cameron and has Edward on his right. Across from them are Skye and Jax. Two rows behind Jax and Skye are Alan and Monica, and next to them, behind Ned, Edward, and Cameron, were Gia and Zander. Nikolas was in the same row, but was seated a few feet away from Gia. In the corner, in the last row, one row behind Alan and Monica, were Jason and Elizabeth. While it would’ve seemed surprising to most that they were there, no one appeared to be the least bit curious as to why the couple had come.
After Dara finished her closing statement, the judge quieted the courtroom, ready to make her ruling regarding Alexis’s case.

Chapter 1
“I don’t need to deliberate. I’ve made my decision,” the judge said.
Alexis and Dara stood as the judge prepared to make her ruling.
“Alexis Davis, on the sole count of murder in the first degree, I find you not guilty by reason of temporary insanity and order you only to continue treatment under the care of Dr. Cameron Lewis,” the judge said.
A soft cheer was heard from those in the courtroom as Alexis breathed a sigh of relief. When the courtroom was silent again, the judge continued.
“However, you have demonstrated here today that your condition is dangerous to yourself and others,” the judge went on. “Therefore, I am awarding full, temporary custody of the minor child, Kristina Davis, to her father, Ned Ashton.”
As Alexis slowly sat, defeated, tears in her eyes, and the courtroom erupted, Dara touched Alexis’s shoulder in comfort briefly, before speaking almost immediately.
“Your Honor,” she began. “I have a motion prepared requesting that you award custody of the minor child, Kristina Davis, not to Ned Ashton, but to Alexis Davis’s older daughter, who is over the age of majority, Elizabeth Davis.”
As the courtroom once again erupted, Elizabeth, who was obviously in shock, looked at Jason, and then looked at her mother, who nodded at her.
“And what is the reason for this change in the custody agreement?” the judge asked.
“To be honest Your Honor, we were not totally upfront with you regarding Kristina Davis’s paternity,” Dara explained, handing the judge the motion.
~~~~
“What is going on?” Edward muttered to Ned.
“I don’t know,” Ned said.
~~~~
“Please explain Counselor,” the judge said.
Dara glanced at Alexis once more to make sure it was what she wanted and Alexis nodded.
“The truth is Your Honor, Ned Ashton is not Kristina Davis’s biological father,” Dara said.
The moment the words left Dara’s mouth, all hell broke loose in the courtroom.
Chapter 2
“Ned Ashton is not Kristina Davis’s biological father,” Dara said.
As the people in the courtroom erupted, the judge slammed her gavel down loudly.
“Order. I will have order in my courtroom,” the judge said.
“What the hell is going on Ned?” Edward asked through the commotion.
“I don’t know,” Ned said.
“Counselor, I have a DNA report here, listing Ned Ashton as the infant’s father,” the judge said.
“Your Honor, may we call a recess and discuss this more privately, in your chambers?” Dara asked.
“Alright. This court is in recess until 9 AM tomorrow. Counselors, I want to see you in my chambers,” the judge said. “And for right now, the infant, Kristina Davis, will be in the temporary care of Elizabeth Davis. An officer will escort Miss. Davis to pick up the baby from Mr. Ashton’s residence in one hour.”
As the courtroom emptied, Elizabeth remained seated, with Jason by her side, still in shock over what had just taken place.
As she prepared to stand, to leave the courtroom, Edward stopped her.
“I don’t know how you and Alexis finagled this, but you are not taking this child from the Quartermaines,” Edward said.
“Back off old man,” Jason said coldly.
“This doesn’t concern you,” Edward shot back. “Mind your business.”
“You’re harassing my girlfriend; I’m making it my business,” Jason said.
“Edward, that’s enough,” Monica said.
“I’m finished,” Edward said. “But this is not over.”
“I don’t believe you’re in any position to be…” Jason began.
“Jason, let’s just go,” Elizabeth said, cutting him off. “We have to pick up Kristina.”
“You’re not taking that child anywhere,” Edward said.
“You heard the judge Father,” Alan said. “It’s only temporary. It’ll be cleared up in the morning.”
“Miss. Davis, I’m here to escort you to pick up your sister,” the officer said.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said.
She slipped her hand in Jason’s and they walked out with the officer.
~~~~
After stopping at Harborview to drop off the motorcycle, pick up a car, and borrow Michael’s old car seat for Kristina, they arrived at the gatehouse. Not surprisingly, Ned was already waiting, and Edward was with him.
“You’re not taking Kristina out of here,” Edward said when Ned answered the door.
“Sir, I have my orders, and if you do not comply I will place your under arrest,” the officer said.
“Do you know who I am young man?” Edward asked.
“Even Quartermaines can get arrested,” the officer said.
“Well, I never,” Edward scoffed.
“The baby, now,” the officer said.
“I’ll get her,” Ned said.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said.
Ned nodded and went inside to retrieve Kristina. He brought Kristina to the front door and handed her to Elizabeth.
“Do you have a car seat yet?” Ned asked.
“Yes, we have Michael’s old infant carrier and car seat,” Elizabeth replied.
“Take care of her,” Ned said.
“I will, I promise,” Elizabeth replied.
Ned watched as Elizabeth and Jason turned to leave, carrying Kristina to the SUV. He shook his head knowing that after the judge’s decision tomorrow, he’d never see Kristina again.
Chapter 3
“Take care of her,” Ned said.
“I will, I promise,” Elizabeth replied.
Ned watched as Elizabeth and Jason turned to leave, carrying Kristina to the SUV. He shook his head knowing that after the judge’s decision tomorrow, he’d never see Kristina again.
~~~~
“Now what?” Jason asked.
“We need to stop at my mother’s and get the clothes and things that she had. Then we need to stop at Wyndam’s and get baby furniture,” Elizabeth said.
“What about Michael’s old baby furniture?” Jason asked.
“Sonny and Carly are setting it up in the new nursery for the baby, remember?” Elizabeth said.
“Right,” Jason said.
“Besides, Kristina is a girl. And I was thinking we could set up a room in the penthouse for her so that she’ll have a place to sleep when she visits, when my mom gets better,” Elizabeth said.
“And we can get a head start on shopping for our own family,” Jason said, not even realizing that the words had left his mouth.
“Jason,” Elizabeth said, her voice barely a whisper.
“I’m sorry, I…I know I’m getting way ahead of myself, I just…I can’t stop thinking about you and I having a baby of our own,” Jason said.
“I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately too,” Elizabeth said. “Jason, I…I think we should sit down and have a serious talk about this later.”
“I do too,” Jason said. “Just…just know that I love you.”
Elizabeth smiled and leaned over in her seat to brush her lips against his, Jason having stopped at a red light, then sat up again, glancing back at Kristina.
~~~~
Ten minutes later, Jason pulled the SUV into Wyndam’s parking lot and Elizabeth got out and lifted Kristina from her car seat. Jason slung the diaper bag over his shoulder and wrapped his arm around Elizabeth’s waist, seeing that she held Kristina securely against her with both arms.
“So what exactly do we need?” Jason asked as they walked through the store towards the baby department.
“Let’s see,” Elizabeth said. “She needs a crib to sleep in, a dresser for her clothes, and a changing table.”
“That seems simple enough,” Jason said.
No sooner than Jason had said the words did they reach the baby department and Jason watched as Elizabeth admired everything, realizing that this task had suddenly become far from the simple task he’d originally thought.
Smiling, Jason watched as Elizabeth went from item to item, talked animatedly to Kristina, and he thought to himself how perfect it was going to be when they started their own family.
~~~~
Almost an hour had passed and Jason and Elizabeth had just about finished up in Wyndam’s. They’d purchased a white washed crib and a matching dresser and changing table, the most adorable infant girl’s bedding set, according to Elizabeth, and some new outfits that Elizabeth couldn’t resist buying for her baby sister. They were just about on their way out; when a rocking chair that perfectly matched the rest of the furniture came into view.
“Oh, Jason’s it’s perfect,” Elizabeth said.
“Go ahead, sit down,” Jason said.
Elizabeth handed Kristina to Jason and sat in the chair, then motioned for Jason to place the baby back in her arms.
“It’ll be perfect for late night feedings and just to sit and hold her, to rock her to sleep,” Elizabeth said.
“Do you want it?” Jason asked.
“Could we, please?” Elizabeth asked.
“Anything you want,” Jason said.
Elizabeth smiled and stood, kissing Jason, before they went back over to the register.
Five minutes later, the rocking chair was added on to their list of items that Jason had already arranged to be delivered later that afternoon, and they were heading back to the SUV.
~~~~
It was nine o’clock when Elizabeth had settled Kristina back into her crib after her first nighttime feeding.
“This is something I’m going to have to get used to,” Elizabeth said as she walked back down the stairs, an empty bottle and the baby monitor in hand.
“What’s that?” Jason asked as Elizabeth sat on the couch next to him.
“These nighttime feedings,” Elizabeth said.
“You won’t have to do this by yourself,” Jason said. “I want to help. So how about this? We can rotate off; you take one and I take one.”
“Sounds good,” Elizabeth said, resting her head in his lap and curling up comfortably on the couch.
“So, now would be a good time to have that talk,” Jason said, not sure exactly how to broach the subject.
“I guess so,” Elizabeth said as Jason stroked her hair.
“I want to have a family with you,” Jason began.
Chapter 4
Jason was sitting on the couch while Elizabeth was upstairs putting Kristina down for the night, when he thought back to what had come up between them earlier.
Flashback…
“I was thinking we could set up a room in the penthouse for her so that she’ll have a place to sleep when she visits, when my mom gets better,” Elizabeth said.
“And we can get a head start on shopping for our own family,” Jason said, not even realizing that the words had left his mouth.
“Jason,” Elizabeth said, her voice barely a whisper.
“I’m sorry, I…I know I’m getting way ahead of myself, I just…I can’t stop thinking about you and I having a baby of our own,” Jason said.
“I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately too,” Elizabeth said. “Jason, I…I think we should sit down and have a serious talk about this later.”
“I do too,” Jason said. “Just…just know that I love you.”
End flashback
Jason glanced at that clock when he heard Elizabeth coming back down the stairs, and saw that it was just after nine.
“This is something I’m going to have to get used to,” Elizabeth said as she walked back down the stairs, an empty bottle and the baby monitor in hand.
“What’s that?” Jason asked as Elizabeth sat on the couch next to him.
“These nighttime feedings,” Elizabeth said.
“I guess so,” Elizabeth said as Jason stroked her hair.
“I want to have a family with you,” Jason began.
“Jason,” Elizabeth said, sitting up.
“I know it’s sudden. I know we haven’t talked about it, but ever since Ned put Kristina in your arms this morning…probably even before that, when I first saw you with her at your mom’s,” Jason said.
“Jason, are you sure you’re ready for something like that?” Elizabeth asked.
“I’ve wanted it since I lost Michael,” Jason said.
“Jason, I do want a family with you,” Elizabeth said. “But there’s other things I want first.”
“If I can, I’ll give you whatever you want,” Jason said.
“Well, I want my mom to get better so she can have Kristina back,” Elizabeth said. “And I want to be married before I have a baby.”
Jason nodded as Elizabeth spoke and she shifted onto her knees, taking his hands in hers.
“But what I do know, is that I want to marry you and I want to have a family with you,” Elizabeth said. “I love you Jason; I always will.”
“I love you too,” Jason said, leaning over to kiss her.
Elizabeth opened her mouth to him and the kiss deepened, but was soon interrupted by Kristina’s cry coming over the baby monitor.
“She’s been a little fussy,” Elizabeth said. “I think she’s a little afraid of her new surroundings.”
“I’ll come up with you,” Jason said.
~~~~
“Kristina,” Elizabeth said, lifting her sister out of the crib. “What’s the matter?”
Elizabeth sat in the rocking chair, holding Kristina and rubbing her back soothingly, slowly rocking the chair back and forth.
Kristina was still fussing, but suddenly let out a small burp and had stopped fussing.
“Must have been gas,” Jason said, letting out a small laugh as Elizabeth stood.
She put Kristina back in her crib and the infant quickly fell back to sleep.
“Okay, so since we were interrupted before, how about we go in the bedroom for a little while and make up for that,” Jason said, wrapping his arms around her waist and nuzzling her neck.
“You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” Elizabeth said.
“I’d love that,” Jason said, lifting her into his arms and carrying her to their bedroom.

Chapter 5
Jason put Elizabeth down on the bed and kissed her. The kiss seemed to go on and on. One of them would pull away for a moment to breathe and then capture the other’s lips again. Elizabeth moaned when she felt Jason run his tongue along her bottom lip, pleading for entry into her mouth. Moaning, her mouth fell open and she moaned again when she felt his tongue slide inside to explore her mouth and caress her tongue.
“Make love to me Jason,” Elizabeth said when they’d pulled away long enough for her to speak.
“I am honey,” Jason said. “I am going to make love to every part of you.”
“Jason,” Elizabeth moaned as he pulled the tee shirt of his that she was wearing to bed over her head.
He pulled his own shirt off then laid her back against the bed, caressing her naked torso as he trailed kisses down her neck.
~~~~
The rest of their clothes shed, Elizabeth’s nails scored Jason’s back as he took her breast in his mouth, his teeth grazing her nipple, as his hand massaged her other breast. Releasing her breast, Jason wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer as he took her mouth again.
“Tell me what you want honey,” Jason said. “Tell me how you want me to touch you.”
“Touch me here Jason,” Elizabeth said, guiding his hand down her smooth, flat stomach through the curls that led to her center.
She moaned when he touched her, pinching the bead between her legs before stroking it with his thumb as he slid one finger inside her, then a second, and a third.
“Oh God Jason, I’m so close. I’m gonna come,” Elizabeth cried, her hips matching the thrusting of his fingers.
“Oh honey, I want to make you come, but I want to be inside you,” Jason said, pulling his fingers out and moving between her legs, parting them with his knee.
“I want you inside me so much Jason,” Elizabeth moaned when she felt the head of his penis at her center. “Please Jason, come inside me.”
As she pleaded with him to enter her, Jason thrust upwards into her and they both moaned.
“Oh God Jason, that feels…” Elizabeth said as he began to move slowly inside her.
“Elizabeth,” Jason said, picking up the speed of his thrusts until they both came, crying each other’s names.
~~~~
Later on, when Elizabeth had awoken in Jason’s arms after they’d made love, she looked up at him, to see that he was watching her.
“Have you slept?” she asked, brushing her lips across his chin.
“I like watching you,” Jason began. “And I was thinking.”
“Thinking about what?” Elizabeth asked.
“We didn’t used anything,” Jason said.
“We didn’t, did we?” Elizabeth said with a small smile. “I thought it felt different.”
“Are you okay with that?” Jason asked hesitantly.
“Yeah,” Elizabeth said. “Yeah, I am.”
“And if you do happen to get pregnant from this one time?” Jason asked.
“I love you Jason. And I know you’d take care of me, and our baby,” Elizabeth said. “I already said I want to have a family with you. If it’s meant to happen now, then it will. If not, it’ll happen when it’s meant to.”
“That sounds perfect,” Jason said, kissing her.
“I love you,” Elizabeth said.
“I love you too,” Jason said, kissing her.
Jason had moved over her, wanting to make love to her again, but Kristina had other ideas, and began to fuss on the monitor.
“I should…” Elizabeth said, as Jason moved off her.
“Yeah,” Jason said with a sigh of frustration, laying on his back and watching Elizabeth cover her naked body to go check on Kristina.
Elizabeth turned back and smiled, blowing him a kiss.
“Oh man,” Jason said as Elizabeth sauntered out of the room.
Chapter 6
Jason had moved over her, wanting to make love to her again, but Kristina had other ideas, and began to fuss on the monitor.

~~~~
The next day…
“Good morning,” Jason said, looking up from his paper when he saw Elizabeth, Kristina in her arms, coming into the kitchen.
“Morning. Anything good for breakfast?” Elizabeth asked, handing Kristina to Jason so she could fix her niece’s bottle.
“Coffee,” Jason said.
“Gee, thanks,” Elizabeth said, as she poured the ready-to-pour Similac into one of Kristina’s bottles.
“I can make you something,” Jason offered.
“No, I’m just kidding, I have a box of Pop tarts in the cabinet,” Elizabeth said, closing the lid on the bottle.
“Sonny would die if he saw you eating that,” Jason said.
“Oh please, don’t think I haven’t caught you munching on them in the wee hours of the morning after putting Kristina down after her midnight feedings,” Elizabeth said.
“I’m just saying…” Jason said.
“I know, I know,” Elizabeth said, kissing him. “I’m just kidding.”
“I’ll feed her,” Jason said, taking the bottle from her hand. “You eat.”
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said, kissing him again.
“What time are you visiting your mother today?” Jason asked.
“In a few hours,” Elizabeth said. “Are you sure you don’t mind bringing Kristina to the warehouse with you? I mean, you know I’d bring her with me, but…”
“I know,” Jason said, knowing that Alexis wasn’t allowed to be around Kristina for another few months. “It’s no problem. I’m just doing paperwork today, and you know Johnny, Francis, Max, and all the other guards love her.”
“I know,” Elizabeth said. “You know, I’m starting to worry about those guys for when we have our own kids. How spoiled will they be?”
“Between us, your mom, Sonny and Carly, and the rest of the guards?” Jason said. “Too spoiled. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“I figured as much,” Elizabeth said, juggling the hot Pop tart as it popped out of the toaster, and then dropping it on a plate.
“Baby, you’re going to burn yourself; be careful,” Jason said.
“I’m okay,” Elizabeth said, picking up the plate and carrying it over to the table, sitting next to Jason.
“Let me see,” Jason said, taking her hand in his.
He frowned at the red burn he saw there, and lifted her hand to his lips, kissing the injury before letting her hand go.
“I love you,” Elizabeth said, leaning over to kiss him, as Kristina gurgled, the bottle having fallen from her mouth.
“I love you,” Jason said as he lifted the bottle again so Kristina could drink more formula.
They finished their morning in a comfortable silence, Jason feeding Kristina while reading the paper, as Elizabeth finished her breakfast.
“I should get in the shower,” Jason said, handing Kristina to Elizabeth as they both stood.
“Mm,” Elizabeth said, kissing him. “You know, I could put her in her playpen and we could bring the monitor into the bathroom and shower together.”
“As tempting as that sounds…” Jason said, kissing her deeply, still being careful not to squish Kristina, who was in Elizabeth’s arms. “I need to get to the warehouse.”
“I know, I know,” Elizabeth said. “But later, after Kristina goes to bed…you’re all mine.”
“Oh man,” Jason said, kissing her once more before walking away.
~~~~
A short time later, Jason was dressed for work in his normal jeans and a tee shirt, playing with Kristina while Elizabeth finished getting dressed after her own shower.
When Elizabeth had finished, she came down the stairs and stopped at the bottom, not loud enough for Jason to turn and see her. Without him knowing, she stood and watched for a few moments as Jason lay on the floor with Kristina, playing with her toys with her, not seeming to have a care in the world.
At that moment, Elizabeth knew what a wonderful father Jason would be to their children, and she touched her flat stomach, wondering when they would have the opportunity to be parents.
“Hey,” Jason said, breaking her out of her thoughts.
“Oh, sorry,” Elizabeth said.
“What were you thinking about?” Jason asked as Elizabeth walked over and sat on the floor beside him, picking up a rattle that Kristina immediately reached for.
“Oh, oh, nothing,” Elizabeth said.
“Elizabeth,” Jason said.
“Okay, I’ll tell you this,” Elizabeth said. “It’s nothing bad. I was just thinking.”
“I’ll let it go for now,” Jason said. “But if there’s something bothering you, you know you can tell me.”
“There’s nothing bothering me. It was a good thought, I promise,” Elizabeth said, kissing him as she picked Kristina up and stood.
“Where are you going?” Jason asked.
“I need to get her dressed,” Elizabeth said.
“Do you want me to bring her to the warehouse with me, or do you want to bring her by before you see your mom?” Jason asked.
“Well, I still have to get her dressed and get some things together for her for later,” Elizabeth said.
“What’s later?” Jason asked.
“Oh, I can’t believe you forgot,” Elizabeth said. “We’re having dinner with Lila tonight.”
“Oh, that’s right,” Jason said.
“And don’t worry, it’s just Lila,” Elizabeth promised.
“Okay, well then, I’m going to head to the warehouse now. Why don’t we meet at Kelly’s for lunch and then when you go to your mom’s, I’ll bring her to the warehouse.”
“And then I’ll meet you there when I’m done and we can go to the Quartermaine’s together,” Elizabeth said.
“I’ll see you at lunch then,” Jason said, kissing her. “You too kiddo.”
Kristina gurgled as Jason spoke and he kissed her chubby cheek before heading out the penthouse door.
Before Elizabeth could turn to go upstairs, the door opened again.
Jason reentered the living room in a flash and pulled Elizabeth to him, kissing her deeply.
“I love you,” he said.
“I love you too,” Elizabeth said.
As he disappeared again, Elizabeth smiled to herself; thinking about good Jason was to her.

Chapter 7
“I’ll see you at lunch,” Jason said, kissing her cheek.
As he disappeared again, Elizabeth smiled to herself; thinking about how good Jason was to her.
~~~~
At the warehouse, Jason was having a very hard time concentrating on the coffee invoices in front of him.
“Man, I’m never going to get through these,” Jason said, staring at the pile.
Glancing at his watch, Jason knew that he didn’t have to leave to meet Elizabeth for lunch for another two hours.
“I have to get some work done,” Jason said, forcing himself to focus on the task in front of him, hoping time would pass quicker.
But finally, those two hours passed and Jason grabbed his jacket and the keys to the SUV with Kristina’s car seat, knowing that Elizabeth would have Johnny drive her to Kelly’s.
~~~~
He had gotten a table when he arrived and was only waiting for about five minutes when he saw Elizabeth walk in, Kristina in her arms, and Johnny a few feet behind her, holding the door and the diaper bag.
“Hi honey,” Elizabeth said, walking over to the table and kissing him.
“How was your morning?” Jason asked, taking the diaper bag from Johnny.
“Not too bad,” Elizabeth said. “Although I don’t think she liked the vegetables from last night’s dinner. She had a really dirty diaper. She actually needs a bath later, but she’s clean for now.”
“You think she’s allergic?” Jason asked.
“No. I, uh…I called Monica to ask that already. She said that’s not an allergic reaction. Some vegetables just make babies, well…you know,” Elizabeth said, not wanting to explain in too much detail.
“Oh, Elizabeth, she’s adorable,” Penny said, coming over to the table.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said.
“I heard about what happened. I’m sorry about your mom,” Penny said.
“Thanks,” Elizabeth said.
“Do you know what you want?” Penny asked.
“I’ll have the chicken caesar wrap with an iced tea,” Elizabeth said.
“Number two and a black coffee,” Jason said.
“Ah, the Jason Morgan special,” Penny said. “You know, you’re still the only one who orders that.”
“And he probably always will be,” Elizabeth said, laughing.
“I’ll be right back with your order,” Penny said, smiling.
“Thanks Penny,” Elizabeth replied.
As Penny walked away, Kristina began to cry.
“Bottle, diaper, or nap?” Jason asked.
“Well, she was sleeping when I put her in the car and she only woke up a few minutes ago, so it’s not a nap cry. But I haven’t changed her yet, so probably diaper,” Elizabeth said. “I’ll go change in her car.”
“Johnny,” Jason said. “Go with her please.”
Johnny nodded and took the diaper bag from Jason, walking out with Elizabeth and a now crying Kristina.
~~~~
When Elizabeth returned five minutes later, with a much happier Kristina, Penny was just putting their food on the table.
“All better?” Jason asked.
“Mm hmm,” Elizabeth said, taking a seat and putting Kristina back in her carrier.
When they’d finished eating, they walked out to the car together and Elizabeth put Kristina in her carrier, which was back in the base.
After closing the car door, Elizabeth turned to Jason, who wrapped his arms around her and kissed her, while Johnny turned around to give them some privacy.
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay with her?” Elizabeth asked. “I don’t want to keep you from getting work done.”
“We’ll be fine. Have a nice visit with your mother,” Jason said.
“I will,” Elizabeth replied. “I’ll be by the warehouse in a few hours.”
“I love you,” Jason said, kissing her once more.
“I love you too,” Elizabeth replied.
~~~~
“Hi Mom,” Elizabeth said when Alexis answered her door.
“Hi honey,” Alexis said. “How is she?”
“She’s fine Mom,” Elizabeth replied, hugging her mother. “How are you?”
“I’m okay. I miss her; and you,” Alexis said.
“Did Cameron tell you what happens now?” Elizabeth asked.
“Elizabeth, I…I need to tell you something,” Alexis said.
~~~~
Three hours had passed since Elizabeth had gone to meet her mother and Jason, who had expected her back, was surprised that he had not yet heard from her.
“Any word?” Jason asked Francis.
“Nothing yet. I could try Johnny’s cell,” Francis offered.
But before Jason responded, Johnny had called his name.
“Jason,” Johnny said.
“Where is she? Is she alright?” Jason asked.
“She’s in the car,” Johnny replied. “Jason, something happened. She won’t come out.”
“Watch Kristina,” Jason said, pointing to the playpen in his office.
~~~~
Meanwhile, Elizabeth was sitting in the limo, unmoving, replaying the conversation with her mother over and over again.
Flashback…
“Elizabeth, I…I…” Alexis stammered, unsure of how to begin.
“Mom, is…is something wrong?” Elizabeth asked, a waiver in her voice.
“I’m…I’m sorry to throw this at you,” Alexis said. “I know it’s hard to take care of an infant.”
“Jason and I are doing okay,” Elizabeth said. “But there’s something else bothering you. What is it?”
“Elizabeth, I…I haven’t been totally upfront with you. About a…about a lot of things,” Alexis said.
End flashback
Chapter 8
As Jason headed out to check on her, Elizabeth was sitting in the limo, unmoving, replaying the conversation with her mother over and over again.

“Elizabeth,” Jason said, breaking her from her trance. “Elizabeth.”
“Jason, I…” Elizabeth began.
“Johnny came to get me. Baby, what’s the matter?” Jason asked.
“Everything, Jason. Everything’s wrong,” Elizabeth replied.
“Baby, will you come inside and talk to me?” Jason asked.
Elizabeth nodded and slowly moved out of the limo.
“God, Jason, my knees are still shaking,” Elizabeth said.
“I’ve got you,” Jason said, lifting her into his arms as though she weighed nothing.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth whispered, resting her head against his chest.
As he walked through the warehouse, his girlfriend in his arms, some of the men were surprised at his open affection and compassion, but the few that knew Jason, and his relationship with Elizabeth, better, were glad that he was there for her.
When they reached his office, Jason put Elizabeth on the couch and sat beside her, while Johnny left a now-sleeping Kristina in her playpen in the office, closing the door behind him.
“What happened with your mother Elizabeth?” Jason asked.
“She lied to me,” Elizabeth said. “About Alcazar. About Kristina.”
“Did she tell you who Kristina’s father was?” Jason asked.
“Yes,” Elizabeth said, her voice barely a whisper.
Jason looked at her intently, never pushing her to go on, but knowing she would tell him when she had mustered the courage.
“Sonny,” she said finally.
“What?” Jason asked, shocked.
“That’s why she wanted you and I to keep her. Because she wants Sonny to spend time with her,” Elizabeth explained.
“Is she going to tell him?” Jason asked.
“She’s afraid,” Elizabeth said. “She wants…she asked me to tell him.”
“Are you going to?” Jason asked.
“I want to,” Elizabeth said. “Sonny has the right to know his daughter. But I…I just can’t believe she lied to me.”
“That’s not everything, is it?” Jason asked. “There’s something else.”
Elizabeth nodded, and took a deep breath before going on.
“There’s nothing wrong with my mother,” she said.
“What do you mean?” Jason asked.
“She’s not…she doesn’t have a split personality. She made ‘Kristina’ up,” Elizabeth said. “She killed Alcazar in cold blood and she created the disorder to keep herself out of jail.”
“I’m…I’m sorry,” Jason said, unsure of what else to say.
“Jason, how could she do something like this to me? And to Kristina?” Elizabeth asked.
“Baby, I don’t know,” Jason said, taking her into his arms.
“And why tell me now?” Elizabeth asked. “How could she expect me to keep a secret like this?”
“I don’t know baby,” Jason said. “I wish I could tell you, but I don’t know.”
“Is everything okay?” Sonny asked, stepping into the office.
“Jason?” Elizabeth said, asking him a silent question.
Jason nodded and Elizabeth took a deep breath, taking a now awake Kristina out of the playpen.
“Do you want to be alone with her?” Sonny asked, seeing the obvious tension in the room.
“No,” Elizabeth said. “Stay, please. There’s something I need to tell you.”
“Is everything alright Elizabeth?” Sonny asked.
“Sonny, what I’m about to tell you will shock you, I’m sure. But please don’t be angry with me,” Elizabeth asked, tears in her eyes.
“You can talk to me Elizabeth,” Sonny said.
“Sonny,” Elizabeth began, taking Kristina from Jason. “You’re Kristina’s father.”
“No, no the DNA test said that Ned is the father,” Sonny said.
“Ned had the test doctored,” Elizabeth said. “I just saw my mother; she told me everything. Kristina is your daughter Sonny.”

Chapter 9
“Sonny,” Elizabeth began, taking Kristina from Jason. “You’re Kristina’s father.”
“No, no the DNA test said that Ned is the father,” Sonny said.
“Ned had the test doctored,” Elizabeth said. “I just saw my mother; she told me everything. Kristina is your daughter Sonny.”
“Are you sure?” Sonny asked.
“My mom told me,” Elizabeth said. “It’s the truth.”
“Can I...can I hold her?” Sonny asked.
“Sure,” Elizabeth said, placing Kristina in Sonny’s arms.
“She’s beautiful,” Sonny said, stroking her cheek. “My beautiful little girl.”
“Sonny, I’m sorry. You know if I had known...” Elizabeth said.
“I know,” Sonny replied.
“Sonny, this...this gets worse,” Elizabeth said.
“What’s wrong?” Sonny asked.
“My mom is faking her disorder,” Elizabeth said. “She killed Alcazar in cold blood.”
“What?” Sonny exclaimed.
“She blamed Alcazar for Kristina being born early,” Elizabeth said. “I’m not sure if she intended to kill him that night, but the end result is that he’s dead. She made up the split personality disorder when she realized that she could lose Kristina.”
“Why would she tell you that?” Sonny asked.
“She said she didn’t want to keep any secrets from me,” Elizabeth said.
“But how could she expect you to keep that secret?” Sonny asked.
“I...I don’t know if I can,” Elizabeth said. “I don’t want to send her to prison, but I...she killed someone. For revenge. Nothing justifies that.”
Sonny and Jason watched as Elizabeth slowly broke down, neither sure what they could do for her.
“Sonny, can you watch Kristina? I think Elizabeth needs some time away,” Jason said.
“Elizabeth, would you mind if I kept Kristina for a few days?” Sonny asked.
“See? That’s what makes this even worse,” Elizabeth said. “Sonny, you’re her father. You shouldn’t have to ask permission. Jason, please just take me somewhere away from Port Charles. Please.”
Jason nodded and Elizabeth kissed Kristina’s cheek before Jason took her hand and led her from the warehouse.

“Alexis?” Sonny said, when someone answered the phone.
“I take it you’ve seen Elizabeth,” Alexis said.
“She just left. I’m only telling you this because Elizabeth would want me to; but otherwise, I could care less,” Sonny said. “Kristina is with me.”
“Well, you are her father,” Alexis said. “Sonny, I’m...I’m sorry I kept it from you. I just...”
“Save it,” Sonny said abruptly. “Do you have any idea what Jason is doing right now?”
“No, I...” Alexis began.
“Because of your fake breakdown, he’s trying to keep your daughter from a real one,” Sonny said.
“Oh my God,” Alexis said.
“You’re a brilliant lawyer Alexis. Making up a split-personality disorder was the best you could do for yourself?” Sonny asked.
“I panicked Sonny,” Alexis said. “I couldn’t lose Kristina.”
“But what about Elizabeth?” Sonny shouted. “Was she expendable? Was she an acceptable casualty in order for you to keep Kristina?”
Alexis said nothing, and Sonny continued.
“And why tell her now? How can you expect her to keep that secret?” he asked.
“I don’t know!” Alexis exclaimed. “I don’t know.”
“Look, I didn’t call to fight with you. Elizabeth and Jason are out of town. Don’t call her; she’ll call you. I have Kristina,” Sonny said.
“I’m sorry Sonny,” Alexis said.
“I’m not the only one who needs to hear that Alexis,” Sonny said. “I have to go.”
Alexis heard the dial tone and knew Sonny was gone. Still holding the phone, she sat on the couch wondering what she’d done.

Jason had brought Elizabeth back to the penthouse to pack some things before heading out of town. Elizabeth knew Sonny could handle Kristina on his own, but what concerned her was what other people, including the judge, would say about Kristina being in Sonny’s care.
With the judge unaware of the baby’s paternity, Elizabeth was afraid that the court could take her sister away and place her in foster care.
“Jason, we can’t leave Kristina,” Elizabeth said suddenly. “If the court takes her away, thinking I abandoned her, I’ll never forgive myself.”
“Are you sure?” Jason asked.
“I don’t want to take her away from Sonny, but if we lose her…” Elizabeth said.
“No, I understand. You’re right,” Jason said. “So, do you want to stay here?”
“No, I…I’d still like to get away. Maybe we can bring Kristina and ask Sonny if he wants to join us,” Elizabeth suggested.
“I’ll call him,” Jason said.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said. “And Jason? Please tell him I’m not trying to keep her from him.”
“He knows that Elizabeth. He knows,” Jason said.
~~~~
“Hi Kristina. I’m your Daddy,” Sonny said, holding his daughter in his arms. “I know I haven’t been around before, but I promise I’m never going to be away from you again.”
The infant yawned and Sonny began to rock her, gently lulling her to sleep.
When the phone rang, Sonny shifted Kristina to one side and picked up the phone.
“Corinthos,” he said.
“Sonny, it’s Jason. Look, Elizabeth is a little leery of leaving town without Kristina. She’s afraid that since the court isn’t aware that you’re the biological father, they may think she’s abandoning Kristina and place her in foster care,” Jason said. “Please don’t take this the wrong way; it’s not that she doesn’t want to leave Kristina alone with you.”
“I know that she wouldn’t do that Jason,” Sonny said. “And I understand. Until I’m documented as the father, Elizabeth’s leaving Kristina with me could be considered abandonment. Especially if the Quartermaines get involved.”
“Elizabeth still wants to get out of town for a days, but she’d like you to join us. It would give you a chance to spend time with Kristina without interference from anyone in Port Charles,” Jason said.
“I’d like that Jason, thank you,” Sonny said.
“We’ll meet you at your penthouse in an hour and then we can head over to the airport together. The plane’s being fueled and prepared,” Jason said.
“Does Elizabeth need any kind of permission to take Kristina out of the country?” Sonny asked.
“No, Elizabeth was awarded full custody. Even Alexis has no parental rights until the court reexamines the case in one year,” Jason explained.
“Alexis can’t see Kristina for a year?” Sonny asked.
“One supervised two to three hour visit once a month,” Jason said. “Sonny, as far as the court is concerned, Alexis is a danger to those around her.”
“She really messed this one up, didn’t she?” Sonny asked.
“It looks that way,” Jason said, then hearing Kristina begin to fuss. “I’ll let you take care of here. We’ll see you in an hour.”
~~~~
Three days later…
“Ned, have you seen Elizabeth Davis or Jason around town with Kristina at all in the past few days?” Edward asked.
“Why would I?” Ned asked.
“Port Charles isn’t that big a town Ned,” Edward replied.
“So? Maybe they went out of town,” Ned said, shrugging his shoulders.
“How can you be so nonchalant?” Edward asked. “That girl and my hooligan grandson are taking your daughter away and you act like you don’t even care.”
“Kristina is not my daughter. She never was,” Ned said.
“You know who her father is, don’t you?” Edward asked.
“I’ve had my suspicions, but no, I don’t know for sure,” Ned said.
“Ned, how you got involved in this, I’ll never understand,” Edward said.
“Alexis asked for my help,” Ned said. “Now she has her daughter handling it. Kristina is with her family. I can’t, and won’t, compete with that.”
“Elizabeth is merely a child herself. She knows nothing about raising children,” Edward said.
“Clearly the court found her capable,” Ned said. “Now, we are no longer involved in this matter. And I’d like to keep it that way.”
“You’re making a mistake Ned. A very big mistake. That’s the second child the Quartermaines will watch be raised by Jason,” Edward said.
“Enough Grandfather,” Ned said, clearly frustrated, then walking out of the room.
“Mark my words Ned. Kristina being raised by Elizabeth and Jason can only lead to trouble,” Edward said to an empty room.
~~~~
Despite Edward’s beliefs, Kristina was perfectly content with Jason and Elizabeth. She was a happy, healthy baby, and to those who didn’t know the circumstances, Jason, Elizabeth and Kristina painted the picture of a beautiful family.
On the island, Jason and Elizabeth spent time with Kristina on the beach, in the water, out shopping, or sightseeing. But Sonny also spent a significant amount of time with his daughter, allowing for Jason and Elizabeth to have plenty of time to themselves.
“Thank you for bringing me here,” Elizabeth said as they sat and enjoyed a quiet dinner with each other.
“You’re welcome. I’m just glad Sonny’s able to spend so much time with Kristina,” Elizabeth said.
“Me too. He’s really a wonderful father,” Jason said. “He’s going to be so good with her.”
“I just hope my mother realizes that,” Elizabeth said. “Jason, I’ve been thinking.”
“Is something wrong?” Jason asked, hearing the seriousness in her tone.
“No, not at all,” Elizabeth said. “I’ve just been thinking about the future. I…I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to forgive my mother for what she did, and after seeing Sonny with Kristina, I think I want to help Sonny get full custody. Permanently.”
“Are you sure?” Jason asked.
“What my mother did was wrong. And I…I don’t want her to try to take Kristina away from Sonny. Sonny doesn’t deserve that,” Elizabeth said.
“If you’re sure this is what you want,” Jason said. “I’ll support you.”
“The question now is, is this what Sonny wants?” Elizabeth asked.
“Do you want to at least talk to your mother about this first?” Jason asked.
“She’s lucky I don’t tell the judge everything she told me,” Elizabeth said harshly.
“Honey, I know you’re angry, but maybe you should think about this,” Jason said.
“I’m not talking about cutting my mother permanently out of Kristina’s life. I just want to see Sonny gets primary custody. I…I don’t think my mother deserves it,” Elizabeth said.
“Whatever’s best for Kristina,” Jason said.
“I think Sonny is what’s best for her,” Elizabeth said.
“Alright. When we get back, we’ll find out what we have to do to have Sonny names as the biological father and then have Kristina placed in his custody,” Jason said.
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said, leaning over to kiss him softly.
Jason smiled at her, but even as he did, and even though he knew Sonny would be a good father, Jason couldn’t help but wonder if Elizabeth was doing this to punish her mother.
Chapter 11
Over the course of the next week, on the island, Elizabeth left Kristina mostly in Sonny’s care. Sonny was pleased with the chance to spend all that time with his little girl, and Elizabeth was more confident in her decision to help Sonny gain sole custody.
“Have you talked to your mother at all?” Sonny asked.
Jason had gone down to the casino to take care of some business, leaving Elizabeth and Sonny, who was feeding Kristina, to have lunch together.
Elizabeth said nothing in response, and instead became silent and began pushing her food around her plate.
“Elizabeth? Sweetheart?” Sonny said gently.
“Hmm?” she said, looking up.
“Are you alright?” Sonny asked.
“I’m sorry Sonny. I know I’ve been really distracted this week,” Elizabeth said. “I meant to let you have time with Kristina, but I didn’t mean to just drop her in your lap for the week.”
“It’s alright,” Sonny said, rocking his daughter to sleep, having given her a bottle. “I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”
“I just…I don’t know what to do,” Elizabeth said.
“Have you talked to your mother?” Sonny asked.
“No,” Elizabeth said. “I…I wouldn’t even know what to say to her. I’m just so angry. I mean she…she lied to me, she lied to you, to everyone. And I…I just don’t know what to do. I mean, Sonny, she kept your daughter from you. Aren’t you angry?”
“You’re right. And I am angry that she deceived me,” Sonny said. “And I’m angry that she hurt you. But I’m also grateful that you brought Kristina into my life.”
“I’m just glad that I could,” Elizabeth said. “Sonny, you’re wonderful to her. And I know you will be the best father she could ever ask for. Which is why I want to help you get custody of her.”
“Elizabeth,” Sonny said. “Sweetheart, your mother…”
“Made mistakes. Mistakes that she isn’t paying for,” Elizabeth said.
Sonny could see the hurt in Elizabeth’s eyes and, though he was sure he wasn’t thinking clearly, he decided not to push her.
“Elizabeth, thank you,” Sonny said. “For giving me the chance to raise my daughter.”
“Just love her everyday,” Elizabeth said. “That’s thanks enough.”
Sonny looked down at his sleeping daughter and smiled, and Elizabeth rose and hugged her friend and kissed her baby sister’s forehead.
“You’re not stealing my girl, are you?” Jason asked, walking onto the balcony where Sonny and Elizabeth were having lunch.
“Hi baby,” Elizabeth said, standing and wrapping her arms around Jason’s neck.
“Hi,” Jason said, kissing her.
“Did everything go okay?” Sonny asked as Jason sat at the table and Elizabeth on his lap.
“Everything’s fine,” Jason said. “We’re all settled up here, so we can go back to Port Charles whenever we’re ready.”
“I think I’m ready to go home,” Elizabeth said.
“Are you sure?” Jason asked.
“I’m sure,” Elizabeth said. “I’m still as angry at my mother as I was when we left, but I can’t hide here forever. And I think that the only thing I can do to make right, the things she did wrong.”
Elizabeth touched her sister’s foot and then looked up at Sonny and smiled.
Jason held his girlfriend a little tighter, sensing the pain radiating from her, and sighed softly, still wondering if Elizabeth was doing the right thing. Not just the right thing…but for the right reason.
~~~~
Later that night…
“Sonny,” Jason said.
Elizabeth was giving Kristina a bath and putting her to bed, so Jason took the opportunity to talk to Sonny alone.
“Something’s been eating at you all day man. You look awful,” Sonny said. “What’s going on?”
“I’m worried about Elizabeth,” Jason said.
“I know. She just hasn’t been right since we got here,” Sonny said.
“She’s so wrapped up in being angry at her mother,” Jason said. “I mean this whole thing with helping you get full custody. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll be a wonderful father, and I think you have the right raise Kristina. I’m just so afraid that if she does this…I just don’t want her to regret it later.”
“I know,” Sonny said. “I don’t either. Right or wrong, Alexis is still her mother.”
~~~~
Meanwhile…
Elizabeth finished giving Kristina her bath and was getting her dressed, talking animatedly to her little sister as she did.
“You like it here, don’t you?” she said. “You like the sunshine and the pretty water. Or maybe it’s the new company. Is it your daddy? Is that what’s making you smile so much?”
Kristina smiled as she listened to her big sister’s voice, kicking her feet and making bubbles with her mouth as Elizabeth got her dressed.
“You’re daddy loves you very much,” Elizabeth said. “Jason and I do too. But your daddy…he is so happy that you’re in his life. He wasn’t there when you were born and in the first few months of your life, but that’s because our mommy made a mistake. But your daddy is never going to leave you again. He’s going to be there for you from now on. He’s going to love you and take care of you and, well, he’ll probably spoil you, but that’s okay; you’ll deserve everything little thing he gets you.”
~~~~
“I don’t know what to do,” Jason said. “You have every right to be able to raise Kristina, more so than Elizabeth and I. But eventually Elizabeth could stop be angry at her mother, and I don’t want her to regret have gone against Alexis in a custody battle.”
“There’s more than just Kristina’s custody involved here,” Sonny said. “Elizabeth is angry that her mother killed Alcazar, and that she lied to her about it. With the state Elizabeth’s in now, which I think is a little unstable, do you think Elizabeth would do something with the knowledge that Alexis murdered Alcazar and covered it up?”
“I wish I could say that Elizabeth wouldn’t do that, but at this point, I really don’t know,” Jason said. “Alexis really did a number on her. She’s hurting and angry and I don’t know if even I can keep her doing something. She’s always been stubborn, but it’s like I can’t get through to her this time. She set on taking Kristina away from Alexis. She wants her mother to pay for what she did. And, at this point, I don’t know how far she’ll go to make that happen.”
