Chapter 1: Marriage or Jail
~*~ “Liz, You know that I’m not good at words, or expressing any of my emotions… I don’t know what to say really, but do you remember when you walked out of my penthouse?” Jason saw her flinch at the memory. He held her hands firmly in his and looked out over the bridge at the lights. They were different in Italy.
“Yeah, Jase. I remember, but--” Elizabeth stopped talking when she felt Jason’s index finger over her lips. She smiled softly, and nodded slightly for him to go on.
“Sshh, don’t say anymore. You said that I was Sonny’s enforcer… First, Last, and Always. You were wrong, Liz. I’m yours… First, Last, and Always. I love you, Elizabeth. You know that… Right?” Jason watched her nod, curiosity filling her eyes.
“Yeah. I love you, too. What are you getting at?” Elizabeth watched him place a finger over her lips again, and then reach in his pocket.
“Will you marry me, Elizabeth? Will you let me be your husband… First, Last, and Always?” Jason’s voice was soft, and tears filled her beautiful blue eyes. Jason shut his eyes and held his breath.
“Yes, Jason! I’ll marry you!” Jason felt the arms around his neck. The voice that spoke wasn’t Elizabeth’s heavenly voice. The arms around his neck weren’t Liz’s baby soft arms. The voice was whiny, and the arms masculine. Jason’s eyes snapped open, and Jason’s worst fear was confirmed. It was Courtney. And for the first time in Jason Morgan’s life he screamed, and ran for his life. ~*~
Jason woke up with a start. He shook his head. He had been having the first dreams of his life as Jason Morgan lately. It started with Elizabeth still being pregnant with Ric’s baby, and needing to hide from Ric. So, Jason took her to Italy. Once in Italy, Jason took her around on his bike, and showed her the lights. Slowly, they grew closer and closer together. Now, he’s proposed to her. Except then it was Courtney.
Jason groaned and looked to his left. Courtney was snoring, and drool ran across her pillow. Her hair was spread across her face, and her brown roots were vibrant amongst the bleach blonde hair. Jason looked at her chest implants. They were red, and oozing due to another new infection. Jason shook his head and stared at the ceiling. He was trying to figure out how much plastic surgery he had paid for. Breast Implants, Liposuction in her hips, thighs, and calves, Tummy Tuck, and a nose job. He had to have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on surgery for her. Jason got out of bed and left. No explanations, and no intention of ever returning.
*****
Jason paced the docks, just like he had been for the past for the last 2 hours. Left 40 steps, turn back, and right 40 and ½. He had no intention of stopping anytime soon. He paced back the same amount of steps. He had no idea that for the last hour, he had been watched.
“Feel like a swim, Morgan?” Ric’s sickening voice traveled across the docks, Ric walked down the stairs.
“Not really, what about you, Lansing?” Jason stopped, and watched every move Ric made.
“Where’s Courtney?” Ric asked, hoping to push a button.
“I don’t know, and I don’t care,” Jason said, shrugging his shoulders. Neither man saw Elizabeth peek around the corner.
“You don’t care about your fiancée? Anyone could just snatch her up,” Ric said, sliding his hands into the pockets of his jacket.
“She’s not my fiancée anymore, and she’s not my problem,” Jason said, his stance relaxed, and he looked as if Ric was just a toy, or a game to keep him amused.
“How can you not care what happens to someone you love? Oh, I forgot your just Sonny’s emotionless Borg, his killing machine who can’t feel anything,” Ric sneered, desperately trying to get Jason to come after him.
“Oh, shut up you annoying psycho! Carly and Sonny have taken Michael and Leticia to the island to wait for Morgan’s birth, and I’m not the one running the show. If you had been paying attention, then you’d know that Sonny and I came to an agreement. The entire organization knows it, Ric. I’m not the go-to guy anymore. Maybe, you should have your head examined, because I think it’s empty. Instead of screwing Courtney, you should pay attention to the business. Then, you’d know what’s going on!” Jason smirked as Ric’s entire face got red with anger, and he began twitching.
“You’ll get it, Morgan, you better believe it!” Ric threatened, but Jason laughed in his face.
“Get what? I’m going to get what’s coming to me? That’s funny, Ric, it really is. I feel bad that you have to hear that empty echoing in your head all day, but there is nothing I can do for you. There’s no cure for people who were born without a brain. I’m so sick of all your empty threats. Just shut your big, lying mouth right now. Your just an annoying, nagging, psychotic pest that no one can seem to get rid of, Ric. Everyone wants you gone, but no one has gotten around to it,” Jason saw him snap, and went into defensive mode. Elizabeth felt like laughing at Jason’s words, but then she saw Ric pull the knife from his jacket and lunge at Jason.
“JASON! LOOK OUT!” Elizabeth raced down the stairs, and Jason turned to look at her. The split second that it took him to look at her, gave Ric the advantage.
“Elizabeth! Go, NOW!” Jason screamed, the knife slicing through his shirt, and piercing his skin. Ric pulled the knife out, and aimed to plunge it back in, but Elizabeth’s hands wrapped around his arm. Holding back, keeping him from stabbing Jason again. Ric jerked his arm away, but Jason was to quick. Jason knocked the knife out of Ric’s hand, and kicked it across the docks.
“See what you made me do, you stupid bitch!?!” Ric yelled, grabbing Liz’s wrists in his hands. He twisted the left one, and listened for the sick snap of the bones. He smiled when it echoed across the pier. Elizabeth screamed in pain, and Jason headed for Ric.
“Let her go, Lansing! This is between you, and me,” Jason reached for his gun, but the pain in his abdomen was to much. Jason groaned in pain, but looked up and saw the tears streaming down Elizabeth’s cheeks. Jason lunged for Ric, and managed to hit him hard enough to get him to let Liz go. Jason stood near the edge of the pier, and Ric headed straight for him.
“Jason!” Elizabeth called, panic filled her voice. Jason fell to the side, and Ric went tumbling into the water. Elizabeth ran to Jason’s side, and watched for Ric to resurface. Moments later, he still was under, and Elizabeth knew that Ric had drowned. Her wrist was numb, and her focus on Jason. Blood was seeping through his shirt, and soaked her hands.
“E--Lizabeth, call J-Johnny. Get a Clean-- Cleaning crew, and D-Doc,” Jason stuttered, and coughed as blood oozed out of his mouth. Elizabeth nodded and reached for his cell phone. She quickly found the number labeled O’Brien, and hit the send button.
“O’Brien,” Johnny answered gruffly. Liz made a mental note to ask Jason if all mobsters answered their phones in that same tone, using only their last names as a hello. Elizabeth shook her head, and got back to the matter at hand.
“Johnny, Jason’s been-- he’s been-- Ric stabbed him. We’re on the pier. He said to get a clean up crew, and-- and Doc,” Elizabeth took a deep breath as Jason reached up, and cupped her cheek. She smiled softly at him.
“Okay, Elizabeth? Take another deep breath, and stay there. We’re on our way,” Johnny hung up without another word, and without giving Elizabeth a chance to reply. She looked down at Jason, and used the sleeve of her sweat jacket to wipe the blood away from his face.
“I’ll be fine, Elizabeth. I’ll be back on my feet tomorrow, ok? Don’t worry,” Jason’s voice soothed her frazzled nerves. Carly had just been released from the panic room, and everything was just starting to settle down.
“Jase, Ric never came back up. He’s-- He’s dead,” Elizabeth cupped her sore arm. Jason ran his fingers across her cheek, and struggled to sit up. Elizabeth placed a hand on each of his shoulders and pushed him back down.
“Elizabeth, it’ll be ok. Sshh, it’ll be all right,” Jason used his voice to sooth her, and he watched her body relax beneath his fingers.
“Jase, just rest. Ok? Look, there’s Johnny,” Elizabeth stood, but Jason grabbed her hand. She looked down to him and smiled. Her eyes told him that she wasn’t going anywhere. She wasn’t afraid. She wasn’t mad. Elizabeth signaled Johnny, Francis, Max, and Marco over to her and Jason.
“Hello, Ms. Webber. Hey, Jason, let’s get you back to the penthouse, ok? On three,” Marco waited for Johnny and Max to stand on either side of Jason and get ready to lift him. “One. Two. Three,” Johnny and Max lifted Jason to his feet on Marco’s count. Jason groaned, but shook away the pain.
“Jason, what about Courtney? Isn’t she at the penthouse?” Elizabeth asked, her voice full of concern for Jason, and disgust for Courtney. Jason turned his head to look at her, and shook his head again.
“She’s at the loft,” Jason groaned again, and they headed for the penthouse. Marco and Francis stayed behind to get rid of any blood, and evidence.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Okay, Mr. Morgan… All done. I want you off your feet for the next 24 hours AT LEAST, and I want you to take this pain medication, got it? I’ll be back in a couple of days to check on everything, but I highly suggest that someone stays with you for the next week or so. That’s about it,” Doc pulled a bag of pills out of his bag, and smiled at Elizabeth. He could clearly see that this young girl was shaken up. She clutched Jason’s hand tightly, her knuckles began to whiten.
“I’ll be fine alone, Doc. Johnny or someone will be outside at all times, so it’ll be ok,” Jason said as he sat up, pain rippling through his body.
“Mr. Morgan, I don’t recommend you being alon-” Doc began, but Elizabeth interrupted him.
“He won’t be… I mean, I’ll be here with him. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until he’s fully healed. Thank you for helping my wrist,” Elizabeth loosened her grip for a second, but Jason gripped her hand, and she smiled at him. Doc nodded and gathered his things. He waved his hand over his shoulder and left. Jason opened his mouth to speak, but the door was flung open. Marco ran in panting.
“Jason, the-- the PCPD showed up at the docks, before we were done. They found the knife, and they found the body floating in the water… The knife was covered in your blood, they’re coming after you. Elizabeth AND Ric’s prints were on the knife… They know she was there. She’s a witness according to our source. No matter what, with her testimony… Your going to jail, Jase… Johnny has called Ashley Moon already, and she’ll be here soon,” Marco paused for breath, and a knock filled the room. Johnny opened the door, and a tall girl with blonde hair carrying a briefcase waltzed in, followed by a younger girl with dirtier blonde hair.
“I’m Ms. Moon, but call me Ashley. I brought my sister, Brittany along. She’s a psychologist, and I thought due to what Mr. O’Brien has told me… I think her expertise will be useful. Is it alright that she’s here?” Ashley ran a hand through her long hair, and sighed. She hated messy murder cases.
“Yeah, of course,” Elizabeth smiled softly, Jason’s eyes began to flutter close. “Please excuse him, he’s recently been prescribed pain medication, and it’s making him tired. I can explain everything. I was a witness to Ric Lansing’s death,”
“Okay, Why would Mr. Lansing come after Mr. Morgan?” Brittany sat next to her sister. She close her eyes, and took a deep breath. She could tell this wasn’t going to be pleasant.
“Jason and I used to be together, but we broke up, so to speak. It was a very complicated relationship, and the end of it was worse. I met Ric Lansing when he came into the diner that I worked at, Kelly’s, and wanted a room to stay in. Bobbie, the owner, gave him one, and we became friends. Soon, we became romantically involved and I got pregnant with his child. We got married, and I miscarried our child due to a fall down some stairs. He blamed his brother, Sonny Corinthos who is also Jason’s business partner, for the death of our child. Sonny’s wife, Carly, is pregnant, and Ric kidnapped her for many months. He held her hostage in a secret panic room in our home, without my knowledge. I recently found Carly and as a result suffered a pulmonary embolism. I reported him to the police, but he got off somehow. It’s disgusting really. I was walking on the docks, on my way from my studio to Kelly’s, and I heard Jason and Ric talking. Ric was insulting Jason, trying to set him off, but Jason kept his cool. Jason said something, and Ric lunged at him. He stabbed Jason once, and then he came after me. He snapped my wrist, and then ran after Jason again. Jason fell to the side, and Ric hit the water. He didn’t resurface again,” Elizabeth took a few deep breaths, and look towards Jason. She suspected him to be asleep, but he was wide awake and watching her. Pride shined in his eyes. He was proud of her.
“Wow, Ms. Webber… That’s a lot to deal with. I’ve dealt with Scotty Baldwin before, and I know that he has a personal vendetta against Mr. Corinthos, and MR. Morgan. He’s corrupt, and stupid. I realize that you and Mr. Morgan did nothing wrong, but Scott will find a way to spin this his way. I know he will, and I have a feeling that your testimony will put the final nail in the coffin for Jason, so to speak,” Ashley looked at her sister for help, but Brittany was just as confused.
“So, no matter what I say, Jason will go to jail?” Elizabeth asked, bewildered by the whole thing.
“I’m afraid that might happen. You were the only witness, and you have a previous romantic relationship with Mr. Morgan. Ric betrayed you, and he hurt Mr. Morgan’s closest friends. That’s the motive, and if you testify… Scotty will find a way -- Any way to use it against us,” Ashley ran her hand through her hair and sighed again.
“Is there any way I can prevent them from making me testify?” Elizabeth asked, gripping Jason’s hand as hard as she could again.
“There are a few options. You could leave the country, but then they could declare you an accessory to murder, and a fugitive. There’s only one other way that I can think of,” The lawyer looked to her sister for help, but confusion still filled Brittany’s eyes.
“I’m afraid Ashley’s right. The only way you can legally refuse to testify is if you and Mr. Morgan were married. Otherwise, they can get a sepina and force you to testify. That would make this whole thing worse if it looked like they had to MAKE you testify. It’d make Jason look even more guilty,” Brittany said, pulling her hair into a messy ponytail.
“So, either I marry Jason, or he goes to jail because of my big mouth?” Elizabeth asked, biting her lip.
“It’s marriage or jail,” Ashley said, shaking her head as her sister grinned wickedly. Elizabeth sighed.
“Looks like I need a dress,”
Chapter 2: Marriage
“Looks like I need a dress,” Elizabeth sighed. Her ex husband had just died, and she was marrying her ex boyfriend to keep him out of jail for said ex husband’s murder. Yep, that’s life in PC for you.
“Elizabeth, this isn’t going to be as easy as a paper marriage,” Ashley said, making the point clear.
“It was for him and Brenda Barrett,” Elizabeth spoke to soon, instantly regretting her words.
“It was different with Brenda, Liz. We got married because she was sick, and then Alcazar’s trial happened,” Jason said softly, remembering the night he told her about his and Brenda’s marriage.
“Oh,” Elizabeth looked at her hands. “I’m still going to need a dress,” She looked up at Jason who was smiling at her. She smiled back.
“Well, contact us when you have the details sorted out, ok? We need to meet our fiancée’s for dinner,” Brittany smiled at the couple, as her sister gathered up the papers.
“Tell Nik and Lucky that I said, Hi. Ok?” Elizabeth smiled at the woman who nodded and left.
*****
“What the hell do you want?” Carly snapped into the phone. She ran a hand through her disheveled hair, and looked at her husband, Sonny Corinthos. They’d finally gotten a moment alone, and the phone rang.
“Sorry to interrupt, Carly,” Jason could tell by her tone that her and Sonny had been… Busy. He would hang up, and let them return to their ‘business’, but this was important.
“It’s fine. What do you need, Jase?” Carly asked, sighing heavily with disappointment. Michael and Leticia walked through the door of the cabana, and she shook her head. Her and Sonny would have no time together on the island. Not alone, anyway.
“Ric attacked me this morning on the docks. Carly, don’t freak out, ok? Just stay calm, and listen, alright? I had been walking on the pier, the one by the warehouse. He showed up, and ran his mouth. We argued and he came at me. Elizabeth had been at the top of the stairs, and she tried to stop him. He broke her wrist, Carly. He snapped it, and enjoyed listening to her scream in pain. He’s a sick bastard, Carly, but he’s gone. He tried to come at me again, but I fell. He landed in the water, and he never came back up. The police showed up, and found the body when our crew was there. They want to start an investigation against me. Elizabeth was the only witness, but if they make her testify-- It’s not looking to good, ok?” Jason pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath. Elizabeth walked out of the kitchen with a tray of brownies, and a cup of coffee for Jason. She listen to him talk, his voice smooth and calm.
“Jason, is he really gone? I mean, is he gone for good?” Carly placed a hand on her stomach, protecting her unborn son.
“Yeah, Carly, he’s gone. He can’t hurt you, or anyone else. Ever again,” Jason reassured his friend, and he heard her sigh of relief.
“Is Elizabeth ok? How’s her wrist?” Carly’s eyes filled with tears. Tears of joy and relief, and Tears of pain, and sympathy.
“It’s broken, Carly. He just snapped it. Just like that,” Jason shook his head, rage filled his body.
“Oh, Jase. I’m so sorry, I know that you still care about her,” Carly rubbed her stomach in circular motions, and Sonny stood behind her, his arms around her stomach as well.
“Carly, Elizabeth and I are getting married,” Jason’s voice was soft, and he turned and saw Elizabeth trying not to eavesdrop. He saw the plate of brownies, and smiled widely.
“When are you arriving?” Carly’s voice snapped Jason out of his reviere. Sonny kissed her cheek softly, trying to figure out the conversation.
“Arriving?” Jason asked, completely confused. His side hurt, and the medication was making him tired again.
“For the wedding, Jase. You have to come and get married. I want to be there for you,” Carly pointed out, laughing at Jason. “And for her,” She added softly. Memories of Elizabeth opening the panic room filled Carly’s mind.
“I’ll talk to her, and call you back. Hey, can you tell Sonny all of this?” Jason looked back at Elizabeth as she carried out another mug. This one she sipped.
“Sure, just take care of yourself, ok? Oh, and Jase? Take care of her,” Carly’s voice was quiet, the images rolling through her head. Haunting her. Months of tortured. Elizabeth had finally saved her. And her baby.
“I will, Carly, I will,” Jason said, his voice just as soft.
“I love you, Jase. I really do,” Carly said, her voice sincere.
“I love you, too. God help me, but I do,” Jason chuckled, and he hung up. He shook his head, and headed for the couch. Elizabeth was sitting on the floor at the coffee table facing the sofa, sipping her hot chocolate, and nibbling on a brownie.
“How’s Carly doing?” She asked politely. Generally curious. She still felt horrid. She had lived in a house that her husband was chaining a pregnant to a wall in. And she had no clue.
“She wants us to come to the island, and get married there. I told her I’d ask you about it, and call her back later,” Jason reached for a brownie, and took a bite. It was Liz’s special recipe.
“Sure, whatever you want to do is fine, Jase. I just want you safe,” Elizabeth finished off her brownie, and sighed.
“We’d have to leave tonight. We don’t want to give Baldwin or Taggert time to nail me and make you give a statement,” Jason moved a little bit, but groaned when the action didn’t agree with his side.
“Jase, I don’t think you should be traveling,” Elizabeth said, reaching for his pills.
“I’ll be fine. I’ll be perfectly fine as soon as you walk down that aisle,” Jason said softly. Elizabeth gasped quietly, but shrugged it off. It was the pain medication talking.
***************
“Dearly Beloved, We are gathered here to unite this man, and this woman in holy matrimony. Who gives this woman, to this man?” The pastor’s voice was strong, and sturdy as he spoke.
“We do,” Nikolas said, meaning him and Lucky. They stepped back, and sat down next to Brittany and Ashley. Elizabeth grasped Jason’s hands in hers, and glanced over her shoulder at Carly. Carly had insisted on being her maid of honor, and Sonny was Jason’s best man. Lucky and Nikolas had been watching Lulu for the weekend, and she was the flower girl. Michael was the ring bearer. Ashley, Brittany, Johnny, Reily, Francis, Bernadette, Lucky, Nikolas, and Leticia were their witnesses. It was generally a small wedding, but it was beautiful.
“If anyone has just cause why this man, and this woman should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace,” The pastor paused, but no one objected to the marriage. “Elizabeth Webber, do you take Jason Morgan to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness, and in health. For richer of poorer, as long as you both shall live?”
“I do,” Elizabeth smiled, tears streaked her cheeks.
“And Jason Morgan, do you take Elizabeth Webber to be your lawfully wedded Wife, to have and to hold, in sickness, and in health. For richer of poorer, as long as you both shall live?” The pastor watched Jason nod slightly.
“I do,” Memories of his dreams filled Jason’s mind.
“I now pronounce you, man and wife. You may now kiss your bride,” The pastor shut his black book, and stepped back. Jason leaned in and kissed Elizabeth softly.
“Ladies and gentlemen… Mr. And Mrs. Morgan,” The pastor stepped away, as everyone congratulated them on going through with it.
************
Elizabeth laid in her new bed in the penthouse back in Port Charles. She smiled as she remembered that Sonny and Carly were returning in a week, and Michael and Leticia were returning in 3 days. She rolled onto her side, and watched her husband sleep. Her husband. Jason Morgan was her husband.
She was Mrs. Elizabeth Morgan.
Chapter 3: Jake's and Vows
* Jake’s *
“I never liked Ric, did you know that?” Elizabeth downed another shot of tequila. She had started out doing the normal ritual consisting of salt, lime, and the liquor, but had quickly grown tired of it. She was just downing the liquid now. Shot after Shot, and Jason had already gotten slapped for trying to stop her. Jason sipped his second beer of the night, as his bride poured herself another shot.
“Liz, you’ve had enough to drink. Let’s just get you some water, and get you home, ok?” Jason reached for the bottle, but Elizabeth smacked his hand away. He shook his head and took a long swig of his beer.
“Nope. Nopey. Nopers. I like this stuff… It’s good. We should stock up on it at the penthouse, Jase. It’s yummy,” Elizabeth downed another shot, and smiled at Jason. She was way past drunk. She was completely gone.
“Elizabeth, it’s after 2 in the morning. Jake has already gone to bed. Can we go home yet?” Jason finished off his beer, and saw she was almost through with her 2nd bottle of tequila that Jake had placed at their table. He was glad they had taken Johnny’s SUV instead of the bike. There was no way Elizabeth could get home on his motorcycle.
“Did you know that I meant my vows? Vows are very seri-- impor-- You have to mean your vows when you say them. I meant every word. There are certain circum-- Certain thingys that change that… Like with Ric. Ric was bad, very bad. Okay, one more… Okay, Jase?” Elizabeth poured another shot, and smiled as she downed it. The bottle was empty, and Jason watched as she stood and marched to the car. Not tripping once. He was amazed. She had passed out in the car, and he carefully placed her into their bed. Their bed. He went into the bathroom, and she was awake when he returned.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” Jason asked, knowing how her head must be pounding.
“I’m going to die, aren’t I?” She moaned as she squeezed her eyes shut. Jason smiled and sat on the edge of the bed. He brushed hair from her eyes, and kissed her forehead. She opened her eyes slowly, and smiled weakly.
“No, you won’t die. You just have an awful hangover. That’s what you get for drinking 2 entire bottles of tequila. Here, take these, and relax. Ok?” Jason held her head as she swallowed the pills, and laid back. She smiled with gratitude.
“My head is going to split into 2 parts, and my stomach is going to explode. I’m never drinking again,” Elizabeth moved her head on to his lap, and sighed.
“You just need to sleep, and you’ll feel fine. Trust me,” Jason whispered the last words. Trust. That was their downfall in the first place, wasn’t it?
“I’ve always trusted you, Jason. Even when you thought I didn’t. I never stopped trusting you. Hey, Jason? I meant what I said,” Elizabeth squeezed her eyes shut again, and moaned in pain. Jason stared at her delicate face. She trusted him, and always has.
“Meant what?” Jason asked, begging that she tell him. He had to know.
“I meant my vows. I know that you probably didn’t, and you probably wish you were saying them to Courtney, but I meant them,” Elizabeth whispered, right before she puked all over Jason.
**********
Jason had cleaned the bedroom, and held Elizabeth’s hair as she threw up 7 more times. She’d finally reached the point where she was dry heaving, and all the liquor was out of her system. She had fallen asleep right after that, and Jason had cleaned. He had just changed, and laid down. She was beautiful.
“I meant my vows, Liz. Just like you. I meant them,”
Chapter 4: Reactions
~* Quartermaine Mansion *~
Jason and Liz stood in the front hall holding hands. She was feeling much better, and this was the first stop on their list. It was time their marriage went public. They had made a list of who to tell, and when. The Quartermaine’s were first, because of Lila. Shouting came from the living room, and Jason gently tugged her toward the doors.
“No! She’s a street rat, and I refuse to allow Dillion to see her!” Edward’s voice boomed.
“Daddy, she’s so much better then that twit from the hospital,” Tracy wrapped her arms around her son and his girlfriend’s shoulders.
“Her father, and uncle are mobsters!” Edward argued. Jason shook his head, and Elizabeth just stared.
“Listen, Pops… The kid can date whoever he wants. Got it?” Jason stepped forward. Everyone turned as he spoke. Liz just stayed in the doorway. Jason knew how to deal with his family.
“How dare y--” Edward started, puffing out in his peacock look. Jason silenced him with a hand.
“And kid, you better be careful… Us ‘mobsters’ as Grandfather refers to us as can be ‘dangerous’,” Jason joked, and only Dillion snickered with him. Jason turned back to the doorway, and motioned for Elizabeth to come towards him. She walked to his side, and he wrapped an arm, comfortably, around her waist.
“Jason Dear, this is a pleasant surprise. It’s been so long since you came to visit. I’ve missed you,” Lila spoke softly, and reached a shaky hand towards her grandson. Jason led Liz towards his beloved grandmother, and kissed her hand. She saw the rings right away.
“I’m sorry, Grandmother. Your right, it’s been far to long since I’ve seen you last. I’ve been caught up with bus--… I don’t know why I haven’t been by to see you. I apologize. I came with news,” Jason stood again, and faced the rest of the family. His Aunt, his mother, his father, his cousin, Grandmother, his other Cousin, his cousin’s girlfriend, his grandfather, his brother, and Lois were all staring at him.
“AJ, when did you get back into town? And Lois? Well, it’s always a pleasure to see you,” Jason smiled towards her, and saw her holding Ned’s hand. A small girl ducked from behind Ned’s legs. Ned picked her up, and smiled at Jason.
“Jason, this is our daughter. Brooklyn, this is you cousin Jason. He won’t be around a lot, but this is who your mommy told you stories about. Well, sort of. Lois, and Brook moved back a month ago, after Skye and Jax got re-married, Laura came back to Luke, and Alexis married Lorenzo. Kristina is with her mother. You’ve missed a lot, man. But you said you had news. So, what’s your news, and where’s Courtney?” Jason shook the little girl’s hand, and smiled at her. AJ stepped forward, and Jason was actually glad to see him sober.
“Yeah, where is Courtney? I wanted to apologize to her, and to you,” AJ was telling the truth, Jason could see that. He was completely sincere.
“I don’t know. Why don’t you call her later?” Jason was perplexed. His family seemed to be happy to see him. They were listening, and actually trying. They weren’t seeing Jason Quartermaine, they were seeing him.
“Ok,” was all AJ said. Jason took Elizabeth’s hand, and that’s when AJ saw the matching rings.
“Guys, I wanted to be the one to tell you that Elizabeth, and I are married. I didn’t want you to hear it through the grapevine, so to speak. We’re married, and we’re happy, right Liz?” Jason asked pulling her closer.
“Yeah, we are,” Elizabeth’s voice was soft, and her eyes widened at the new found fact. She suddenly remembered what she said last night.
“I want to make in known, that we can’t be touched. So, don’t bother trying. And I wanted to be the one to tell you about our marriage in person,” Jason kissed his Grandmother’s cheek, and they left without another word.
~* The Cottage *~
Jason stared at his sister. She was pregnant, and healthy. He had missed so much. He hadn’t visited his grandmother, he had missed Emily’s re-marriage to Zander, and he hadn’t known that she had gotten pregnant. He had missed so much. The last he knew, she had been with Nikolas. But here she was, pregnant, married, and in love with Zander Smith. He saw it in her eyes. She was where she was meant to be. Her life was going the way she wanted. That was a rarity in Port Charles.
“Jason, you said you had news… Your beginning to worry me. Please, tell me what’s going on,” Emily clutched her husbands hand as they sat on the loveseat. Elizabeth was sitting in one of the chairs, and Jason on the arm of the chair.
“Elizabeth, why don’t you tell them?” Jason asked, rubbing her back slightly.
“If this is about Ric, we heard. I’m sorry he’s dead, Liz. But you were through with him anyway. What he did was unforgivable,” Emily’s voice was knowing, but loving. Elizabeth nodded, and situated her broken wrist.
“No, Em… It’s not about Ric. He deserved everything her got,” Elizabeth looked into Jason’s eyes as she spoke. She wanted to make sure that he wasn’t blaming himself. She focused back on Emily. “Emily, Jason and I got married. We went to the island,”
“Your what? You went where? Oh my god! I’m so happy for you!” Emily jumped off the small couch, and hugged Elizabeth fiercely. She kissed Jason’s cheek, and squealed again. She was beyond excited for her brother, and best friend… Her sister in law. Elizabeth was officially her sister.
“God, we have so many places to go yet. Grams, Bobbie, Lucky & Ashley, Nik & Britt…. So many people. We should get going,” Elizabeth stood, and Jason was right behind her. She hugged Emily and Zander. Jason hugged his sister tight, and shook Zander’s hand.
~*~ Audrey’s house ~*~
“Grams, look… I know you disapprove, but It’s my life. Jason and I are married, and no one can touch us,” Elizabeth stood on the top step, her grandmother hadn’t even stepped out of the doorway yet. And with that, the door slammed shut.
** The Haunted Star **
“Luke? Laura? Hello?” Elizabeth called out into the empty casino. A red head ran out, laughing. Jax followed.
“May I help you? Oh, Jason… What do you want?” Skye asked, as Jax stood behind her. He wrapped his arms protectively around her waist.
“Is Luke around? I need to talk to him. I’m Elizabeth,” Elizabeth shook Skye and Jax’s hands. She smiled politely at the happy couple.
“No, he’s not. Is there anyway I could help though?” Skye smiled, and leaned her head back into her husband’s chest.
“No, I just wanted to tell him something. Some good news,” Elizabeth smiled and turned. Jason had been staring, quiet the whole time. She touched his chest, and he turned and they started to leave.
“Jason, I’m still your sister, you know! I don’t see you as him, I didn’t know him. I only see you, as you. I just thought I’d tell you,” Skye’s voice was quiet, strong, and sincere. Jason turned and looked over his shoulder at him.
“Maybe he wasn’t so bad,” He said softly. No one understood this turn around. “Elizabeth and I got married,”
“Congratulations! I hope your as happy as Jax and I are,” Jason smiled and embraced his sister. Jax had released her, and she hugged her brother back.
“I hope so,” He whispered in her ear, Liz didn’t hear him though. He let her go, and she kissed his cheek.
“Oh, I believe in it. Stop by soon, and Congratulations,” Skye smiled, and waved at Liz as they left.
*~* Luke’s Blues Bar *~*
“Luke! I’ve been looking for you! Hey, Laura,” Elizabeth waltzed in, and kissed her surrogate parents. Jason shook hands with Luke, and Laura pecked his cheek.
“Well, Darlin’… What brings you by?” Luke asked, pouring himself some Russian vodka.
“I have some great news,” Elizabeth went to Jason’s side and held up their left hands. “We got married!”
“What?!” Laura rushed over and hugged Elizabeth tightly. Liz’s smile was a mile wide, and lit up her eyes. It made Jason smile his own smile. Luke just shook his head and laughed.
“It’s about damn time, Morgan! It’s been, How Many Years?” Luke asked, slapping him on the back. The two married couples sat down, and toasted to happy marriages.
*~* Spook Island *~*
“I know my way, it’s fine. Thanks, Mick,” Elizabeth had to practically drag Jason over to spook island, as Luke called it. He had argued, but she finally convinced him that it was only fair that she get to tell ALL of her friends. I mean, it WAS her marriage.
“Elizabeth! Hey, girl! What’s up?” Britt tossed some hair over her shoulder, and smiled at her friend. Then, she saw Jason Morgan. She saw the rings, and jumped off the couch.
“Brittany?” Elizabeth asked carefully… She saw the smile growing on Brittany’s face, and the look in her eyes.
“Nik! Nikolas, come here! Nikolas Cassadine, Get down here! NIK!” Brittany rushed to the foot of the stairs, and laughed as her fiancée practically fell down the steps in a hurry to get to her.
“What? What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Nikolas ran his hands quickly over her face, and arms.
“Elizabeth and Jason are married!” Elizabeth laughed, as Nikolas’s jaw hit the floor. Britt hugged her friend, and her friend’s new husband. “Congrats, girl! I’m so happy,”
“Thanks, I think,” Elizabeth laughed, and told her about how beautiful the wedding was. The men just sat by and listened. Brittany sighed contently and smacked Nik upside the head. He looked at her in surprise.
“What was that for?” Nik asked, he rubbed his head. God, she could hit hard.
“So, when am I getting my SECOND ring, Nikolas? Hmmm? Tick Tock, Buddy,” Brittany said, as she led Jason and Elizabeth to the door. He just shook his head and waved to his friend.
~*~* Kelly’s *~*~
“I don’t give a damn, Spencer. We’re moving, got it?” Ashley pulled some of her brown hair into a pony tail, with a wicked smile. This was an exhausted fight, and she knew just how to win it.
“Ash, why? I mean, you work here. It’s convenient. My dad, and Aunt own it. And Someday, We’ll own it. It’s not that bad. I just don’t see why we have to move,” Lucky cleared the dishes from a table.
“Fine, Lucky. Don’t move… I am,” Ashley walked off, and left Lucky perplexed. Did his wife just threaten to leave him?
“Ashley? Hey, Ashley? Honey, come back in here,” Lucky went into the kitchen and pulled her into the dining room. Ashley pulled herself up onto the table and swung her legs back and forth.
“What?” Ashley spat out. She was sick of living above a diner. She’d been in Port Charles for so long, and she’d always lived above Kelly’s.
“Why is it so important to you that we move?” Lucky asked gently, his voice calm and almost soothing. Ashley took a deep breath.
“Lucky, I never lived in a real home. It was always here, and then there. We never settled down. We stayed in little rooms like here. I just want to find a place. A real home. I just want to settle down in a real home. How can we start a family above a diner?” Ashley smiled slightly, as Lucky nodded. This wasn’t how she intended to win the fight, but ok.
“Ashley, we will settle down. We’ll find a beautiful house, and raise a beautiful family. But for now , we can stay here,” Lucky cupped his cheek as soon as her hand connected. Why was it that woman hit so hard? The bell above the door rang, but they didn’t process the sound.
“Fine… Whatever you say, HUN. You’re the boss, right? Well, get this! I’ll be sleeping in MY room. Either we move, or you can forget your ‘husband benefits’,” Ashley saw color drain from his face at the realization of her words. She smirked.
“So, how long do you think you can last, Lucky?” Elizabeth watched it unfold from the time she slapped him. Ashley was in control, and they all knew it.
“Liz? Hey, what’s up?” Lucky asked, avoiding the situation?
“Oh, not much. Same old, Same old. Saw Nik, Britt, Zander, and Em…. Got married to Jason… Saw Ash smack you pretty damn hard,” Elizabeth watched the realization smack both her friends like a ton of bricks.
“Already?!” Ashley asked, her jaw dropping. She hugged them both, and then continued to glare at her husband.
“Elizabeth, are you sure?” Lucky glanced at his wife, then back to the newlyweds. Elizabeth only nodded.
“So, how long can you last?” She teased, and he shook his head. Jason just smiled as he watched his wife have fun with her friends.
“She’s only joking… She’d never do that,” Lucky said, not believing his words, but hoping they were true. No such luck.
“You can not be the delusional, Spencer. Come on! You’ll see, Lucky… And you’ll pay,” Ashley took more dishes into the kitchen. The two married couples talked for awhile, and had sundaes before Liz and Jason left.
“Peach, your kidding right?” Lucky asked, begging that she was.
“Nope, Cream… Your going to pay,” Ashley flipped the sign to closed and headed to a separate room.
~*~ Morgan Penthouse ~*~
“God, I’m tired! We left at like, 9 of 10? Oh, Jason! Come look at the city lights from the balcony with me,” Jason followed his wife to the balcony, and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. His wife. He closed his eyes, and breathed in her scent. She sighed, and leaned back against him. Then, the most annoying voice ruined their perfect moment.
“Jasey? Oh, there you are! I’ve been waiting almost all day! You’ve been gone, and didn’t call me. Jasey? Who’s that with you, baby?” Courtney used the towel around her neck and wiped some of the dye off her forehead. Her roots had begun to show.
“Courtney, what are you doing here?” Jason asked, not letting go of Liz, and not turning around.
“I came to see you, silly! I mean, I came to see you and Princess Sophia,” She giggled annoyingly. “Stay right there, I need to rinse the dye out,” Jason groaned, and Courtney dashed up the stairs. Elizabeth couldn’t contain her laughter anymore.
“What’s so funny, Wifey?” Jason asked pulling her tighter to him.
“Princess Sophia?” Elizabeth could barely talk, her laughter was so light, and beautiful. Jason couldn’t help smiling.
“How to lose a guy in 10 days,” Was all Jason said. Elizabeth nodded, and tilted her head to look at him. She glowed like an angel, and Jason couldn’t resist. He dipped down and kissed her. Just as his tongue slipped past her lips, Courtney’s voice broke in.
“Jasey? Jasey, who is that! What’s going on, Jasey! How could you, Jasey? What do you think your doing, Jasey?” He broke the kiss and groaned. Why did the twit have to call him JASEY?
“I’m kissing my wife, Courtney. This is my wife, and I can kiss her if I want,” Jason’s voice was sincere, and made Elizabeth melt in his arms. She loved the way he called her HIS WIFE.
“WIFE! JASEY, I’m SUPPOSED TO BE YOUR WIFE! Jasey, stop kidding! WHO IS THAT?” Her shrill voice hurt their ears. Jason thought she’d break glass.
“Elizabeth Morgan is my wife, and no one, not even you, can touch us,” Jason snapped.
“But Jasey,” Courtney whined.
“Elizabeth is my wife,”
*~* Morgan Penthouse *~*
Jason sat up as soon as she left the bed. He looked at the clock, but it was only 5 am. Way to early for Elizabeth to be awake, let alone out of bed. He knew her routine already. She’d wake up, usually later in the morning, and lay in bed for 15-20 minutes before actually getting out of bed. Nope, something was wrong. Jason’s ideas were confirmed when he heard her gagging. He was out of bed in a split second, and saw her emptying her stomach. He held her hair, and rubbed her back till she was finish. He handed her, her toothbrush and rinsed it off when she was finished. Jason gave her a cap full of mouth wash, and wiped her face when she was done. He lifted her with ease, and placed her back in bed.
“Hey, what’s wrong? Why didn’t you wake me up, and tell me you felt sick?” Jason pressed a hand to her forehead and cheeks, checking for a fever. Her skin felt cool.
“I don’t feel sick. I just woke up, and felt nauseas. I feel fine now,” Elizabeth pulled her self into a sitting position, and leaned back against the pillows. Jason shook his head.
“I want you to stay in bed for awhile. Are you hungry? I could make toast, or something light,” Jason ran a hand down her arm, and laced his fingers with hers.
“Oh, toast sounds great! Could you do me a favor? Could you put ketchup on it?” Elizabeth licked her lips, and Jason gave her a curious look.
“Ketchup? On toast?” The thought made Jason feel a bit nauseas.
“Yeah. Please?” Elizabeth pretended to pout, and Jason just shrugged.
“Whatever floats your boat,” Jason kissed her forehead, and walked out of the room. Liz curled up, and drifted off to sleep.
**
“Courtney? What are you doing here?” Jason’s voice was icy, and he was intimidating as he towered over the couch. She could see it in his eyes, they were over. But that didn’t mean she would let Elizabeth win. There was a real reason she had to leave Atlantic City, and it wasn’t to find her father, and some mobster brother.
“Baby, I think we need to talk. I mean, come on. Jasey, would you really want to give up this?” Courtney ran a hand down her neck, and down the valley between her breasts. Jason shook his head. She was wearing a tube top, and skimpy shorts. They showed off her plastic surgery gone bad, and her manly body. Why did he ever find her at all appealing?
“Courtney, I’m a married man,” The disgust showed plainly on Jason’s face. He had come down to make his wife ketchup on toast, and got this?
“So, I was a married woman when we started screwing. It didn’t stop you then,” She rolled her hips as she stood. She wasn’t going to lose him.
“Courtney, listen to yourself! What happened to you? You turned in to some plastic Barbie doll. Your body, and your brain. I was hoping you and AJ could start something up now that he’s better, but I wouldn’t want you near my brother if my life depended on it. I fucked you. That’s all. I was angry, and I had lost Elizabeth. You knew that, but you didn’t care. Your fake, Courtney. You’re a walking, life size Barbie doll gone wrong. Why would anyone settle for being nothing?” Jason’s voice boomed, and woke Elizabeth. She crept to the stairs, and listened. No one noticed.
“Jasey, she did this! Don’t you see it? She poisoned you against me! I swear, I’ll rip every hair from her head!” Courtney stomped towards the stairs, but Jason grabbed her wrist, and forced her onto the couch.
“You ever lay a hand on my wife, and you’ll pay. I don’t care who the fuck you are… No one touches my wife. Ever. Elizabeth is my wife, and there’s not a thing anyone can do about it. Just leave Port Charles, and start over, Courtney. Your not wanted here,” Jason’s eyes were empty, his face expressionless, and his tone colder then ice. Courtney nodded her head, scared to move. Elizabeth leaned her head against the wall, and smiled. He was defending her. His wife.
“Tell Sonny that I’ll call him. I’ll leave Elizabeth alone, I swear. Please, just let me go,” Courtney begged. Jason nodded, and opened the door to let her out.
“Marco! Take Ms. Matthew home to retrieve her things then take her somewhere-- Anywhere she wants to go. Set her up in an apartment, or penthouse, or whatever. Make sure she’s settled in before you return. I’ll call Max to go with you, and Francis to cover your shifts. I’ll deal with Sonny,” Jason barked out his orders, and Marco nodded. He escorted Courtney onto the elevator, and Jason made the necessary phone calls. Elizabeth crawled back into bed.
~~
“This is so good, Jase. Thank you,” Elizabeth bit into her toast again, and wiped some ketchup off her chin. He smiled as he watched her eat. She was beautiful.
“Your welcome. I still don’t see how you can stomach that, especially after this morning,” Jason brushed some hair our of her face. She took another bite, and held up a finger to tell him to wait a second. She smiled widely.
“It’s delicious! Here, taste it,” Elizabeth held out a piece, and Jason shook his head.
“No, thank you. Glad you like it,” Jason watched her take a bite, and shrug at him.
“Are you sure? Come on, just try it,” Elizabeth held the toast out to him.
“Ok,” Jason nodded, and Elizabeth giggled. She pushed the toast at him with a smile a mile wide. He shook his head. Jason leaned over, and pressed his lips, firmly, to hers. Elizabeth realized what he was doing, and open her mouth to him. Jason got his taste, and pulled back.
“I don’t see how your eating that,” Jason chuckled as she shrugged and took another bite. He licked his lips, and sipped his coffee. Jason just watched her. She glowed like an angel.
“Hey, can we go to Jake’s?” Elizabeth finished off her breakfast, and licked her fingers.
“No. No way am I taking you to a bar! You were just throwing up, Elizabeth. I want you to be seen by a doctor,” Jason moved the plate onto the night stand, and sat his empty coffee mug on it. He laid his head in her lap, and she ran her hands through his hair.
“I’m fine, Jason. If I can stomach that, I think I can handle playing pool at Jake’s,” Elizabeth smiled as Jason looked up at her. He was completely at ease, not worrying. For once.
“We’re not going to Jake’s. How about we go for a ride on the cliff roads before we pick Michael up at the airport?” Jason chuckled as she brightened. She nodded her head enthusiastically. She leaned down and kissed his lips quickly before getting out of bed and getting dressed.
**~~
Elizabeth wrapped her arms around Jason’s waist tightly as he revved the engine on the bike. She smiled, and rested her head against his back. She was pulled as close to him as possible. Jason rushed down the parking garage ramps and onto the road. He quickly turned off the main roads onto the back ones. Elizabeth tried to focus on one thing, but everything was blurred as the went by. She could barely think hard enough to focus. The wind whipped around her, and she could practically see it. The vibrant colors of the world. She remembered the painting, and made a mental note to get it for the penthouse. That was the only though she could ever put together on a ride. Everything floated away. Everything mixed in with everything else. There was no problems in the world when she was on the back of Jason’s bike. Everything was perfect. Everything was beautiful. Everything made sense.
~~**
“Uncle Jason! Lizzie!” Michael ran as fast as he could off the plane and into Jason’s arms. Leticia waited for Jason’s nod, and left as soon as she saw it. She was heading to see Reginald.
“Hey, buddy. How was the island?” Jason hugged the boy again. Elizabeth could see that Jason loved him dearly, but seemed to accept that he was Sonny’s son. Jason seemed okay with that. She made another mental note to talk to him about it later.
“It was great! Daddy took us on the boat, and we went for father/son swims every morning, and every night. Then, Mommy and I made s’mores a lot, and made sand castles. We made Daddy into a sand mermaid. We made zillions of castles. And Daddy and I buried mommy one day when she fell asleep. I have to show you pictures,” Michael hugged his uncle again, and Jason placed him back on the floor. Michael went and hugged Elizabeth, wrapping his small arms around her waist.
“That sounds great, Michael. I’m glad to have you home,” Elizabeth stooped down to his height, and smiled. She gave him another hug, and gripped his shoulders as she became dizzy.
“Aunt Lizzie? Uncle Jason, is she ok?” Michael asked, trying to steady his new aunt by holding her shoulders. Jason stooped down, and tilted Elizabeth’s face his way.
“Hey, you okay? Elizabeth? Elizabeth, look at me,” Jason commanded softly, but he got no response. Everything went black, and Elizabeth fell back. Jason caught her, and lifted her into his arms. He signaled for Johnny to get Michael’s stuff. Michael gripped at his uncle’s leg as the rushed to the car. Once they were in, and Jason sat on the floor next to where Elizabeth laid unconscious, Michael spoke.
“Uncle Jason, is Aunt Lizzie going to be okay?” Fear filled the little boys eyes, and Jason looked at him helplessly.
“I hope so, Buddy. I hope so,” Jason looked at his wife, and leaned his forehead to hers.
“I need you, Elizabeth. Wake up, please. For me,”
*~*~ Okay, Britt! You got your puking, ketchup on toast, Jason telling Corks off, Jason kissing Liz, Liz asking for Jake’s, their ride, and her passing out at the airport. Just like I promised! If anyone has anything they want to be done, let me know, and I may include it. Britt does it a lot when I need ideas, or feel like asking her. Again, I’m sorry for the wedding mix up, and I will go change it. And Nathan and Ash - Sorry for using your Peach and Cream thing. I’ll change it if you want, no biggie! SORRY! ~*~*
Chapter 6: Promise Me
~*~ Hospital… I don’t know… Some Room, I guess ~*~
“Hey, Aunt Lizzie! Grandma Bobbie said that I could come see you while Uncle Jason does papers. There’s a lot of papers to sign, and they said that Uncle Jason has to do it. I was going to, and then he could come see you, but they told me no. So, I came to check on you. Uncle Jason told me to ask you if you want any toast with ketchup on it. That’s nasty. How are you feeling? You really scared us,” Michael didn’t wait for a reply or a hello before jumping onto the foot of the bed. Elizabeth smiled at him, glad for his company. Michael could easily make him smile.
“Well, Hello Michael. No, toast with ketchup. Thanks for asking though. I’m sorry I scared you. I didn’t mean to,” Elizabeth was sincere, and Michael put on his ‘serious’ face.
“I was brave. It was Uncle Jason who was really scared. I thought he was going to cry. He kept talking to you, and he had his forehead like this,” Michael placed his forehead against Elizabeth’s to show what he meant. Elizabeth bit her lip.
“Do you know what your Uncle Jason was saying?” Elizabeth asked, generally curious.
“Well, he was whispering, but I have really good ears. Daddy says they’re like my Mommy’s. I heard him say that--” Michael stopped, not sure if he was supposed to say it, or if it was Uncle Jason’s secret.
“You heard him say what? It’s okay to tell me, Michael. Uncle Jason won’t get mad,” Elizabeth smiled reassuringly.
“He said that you had to wake up, because he needs you,” Michael whispered, looking around to make sure no one else heard. Elizabeth sucked in a breath. Did Jason really say that, or was Michael exaggerating? Michael looked at Elizabeth, concerned. “Are you okay? Did I say something bad?”
“No, No. I’m fine. Your Uncle’s pretty great, huh Michael?” Elizabeth said softly. Michael nodded profusely.
“Yeah, he’s awesome. When I was a baby, Mommy was sick. So, she had to go away when I was born. And my biology daddy, AJ, is a bad guy. And Mommy didn’t know Daddy yet. So, Uncle Jason was my daddy. Then, Mommy came back and married AJ. Mommy and I lived with the crazy family until she met Daddy. Then, she was going to have a baby, and we lived with Daddy in the penthouse. Mommy and Daddy told me this stuff. They said, ‘I had a right to know my own past’. I don’t understand most of it, but if it’s my past, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m happy now,” Michael smiled and stopped to catch his breath.
“Yeah, I’m happy,” Elizabeth kissed the little boys cheek. He smiled at her.
“You know, Uncle Jason was in the church thingy here at the hospital,” Michael said, deviously.
“Why?” Elizabeth pulled herself up more, and worry filled her eyes.
“He left me with Grandma Bobbie, but I followed him. I was worried, and you were with the docs. He was praying for you. I’ve never heard Uncle Jason pray before, or ask for help,” Michael leaned closer, and lowered his voice. “I think he was crying,”
“Well, we’ll have to cheer him up, right?” Elizabeth smiled as the small boy’s eyes lit up, and widened. He leaned in, and whispered in her ear. He had a plan.
**
“Elizabeth, I have your test results,” Elizabeth looked up at her doctor, and bit her lip nervously. “Should I get your husband?”
“Yes, please. Anything I need to know, he needs to know,” Elizabeth smiled as the doctor stepped out. She returned seconds later with Jason behind her. Jason quickly wrapped his arms around Elizabeth, and kissed her head.
“Doctor, what’s wrong with my wife?” Jason held onto Elizabeth’s hand for dear life. Jason’s eyes were filled with worry, and Elizabeth rubbed his arm to soothe him.
“She’s pregnant,” The doctor smiled at the married couple, and was shocked by their reactions. Jason stared at Elizabeth who was immediately filled with fear.
“Ric,” Was all Elizabeth could manage to get out. The doctor excused herself. Tears filled Elizabeth’s eyes and she clutched her stomach.
“Elizabeth? Hey, listen to me… It’s okay, Elizabeth. It’s okay,” Jason held Elizabeth’s face in his hands. Forcing her to look at him, but she was already to far gone.
“Ric… No, No, It can’t be. They’re wrong!” Elizabeth saw the little read head peak around the now open door. She snapped out of her fear filled trance, and force a smile. The little boy climbed onto the bed, and wiped away her tears. Michael wrapped his arms around her neck and held her tight. Elizabeth sighed and hugged the little boy.
“It’s okay, Aunt Lizabeth. Ric’s gone, and Uncle Jason will protect you. He’s brave, and can do anything. He’ll make it all better, right Uncle Jason?” Michael pulled back and looked at his Uncle. He needed to know that it would be alright.
“Right, Michael. It WILL be okay, Elizabeth. Listen to me, we’ll all be okay. I swear to you,” Jason kissed her head, and wrapped his arms around Michael and Elizabeth. “Hey, Michael? Why don’t you go get your Aunt Elizabeth some hot chocolate?”
“Thank you,” Elizabeth said softly. Michael had gone to get her drink, and call his parents. Jason looked away from the window.
“For what?” Jason looked at her confused. Michael had been the one to comfort her.
“For being you,” Elizabeth sighed, and reached for him. Jason sat on the edge of the bed, and held her tight.
“I didn’t do anything, Liz,” Jason said against her hair. He took a deep breath, and inhaled her heavenly scent. She was an angel. Jason was sure of it.
“Jason, promise me something,” Elizabeth pulled back, and searched his eyes.
“Anything,” Jason stared right into her eyes, and saw her growing tired.
“Don’t leave me,” Elizabeth clutched at his shirt and he held her until she fell asleep.
“I won’t leave you, Elizabeth. Ever,” Jason whispered as he laid her back.
“I love you, Liz,”
Chapter 7
“Jason, I can walk! I’m pregnant, not obsolete!” Elizabeth laughed as Jason walked off the elevator, holding her in his arms. She shook a finger at Michael as he opened the penthouse door. “And you! Stop encouraging him!”
“Elizabeth, stop fussing! It’s tradition for a husband to carry his new bride over the threshold. Michael, can you hold the door open?” Jason turned side ways and walked past the giggling red head. He gently laid Elizabeth on the couch, and pointed to Michael.
“Yeah, Uncle Jase?” Michael asked, trying to stop his laughter.
“I want you to watch her. Don’t let her get up, and if she tries… Call for me. I’m going to get some pillows, and her afghan,” Michael nodded at his Uncle as Jason headed upstairs. Michael perched himself on the edge of the coffee table, and smile a toothy grin.
“Does the baby kick? Morgan kicks a lot. Mommy says that only Ice Cream and pizza make him stop, but Daddy says she just wants junk food,” Michael placed a hand on Elizabeth’s stomach, and she smiled at him.
“Not yet, Michael. This baby to small to kick, but it will be soon,” Elizabeth kissed the little boys hand, and sighed. Jason returned a second later, and surrounded her with pillows. He propped her feet up, and slipped her sneakers off.
“I want you to stay here, and watch T.V. I don’t want you getting up for any reason,” Jason instructed, and Elizabeth couldn’t help but laugh at him.
“What about the bathroom?” Elizabeth smirked when he rolled his eyes at her.
“I’ll carry you,” He kissed the tip of her nose as her jaw dropped.
“Hey, can you make me eggs with syrup on them, and toast with ketchup? Oh, and pudding with popcorn in it?” Elizabeth clapped her hands together as her mouth began to water. Jason nodded, even though he knew it would be disastrous.
“Michael, let’s go cook for your Aunt Liz,” Jason put an arm around Michael’s shoulders and Elizabeth laid back to relax. She jumped when she heard a pan drop. Michael raced out seconds later.
“Everything’s okay,” He took a deep breath before sprinting back into the kitchen. Seconds later she heard a plate shatter, and she began to get up when Michael came walking in, his hands in his pockets.
“It’s under control,” Things were dropped and broken. Michael had come into reassure her 7 times before the smoke alarm went off. Elizabeth sighed, and headed for the kitchen. Her eyes widened, and she tried to keep from laughing.
“Elizabeth, you shouldn’t be on your feet,” Jason said, watching her look around the kitchen in awe. Chocolate powder coated the kitchen, black smoke leaked from the microwave, and a gooey, yellow mess bubbled on the stove. Jason and Michael were on the floor surrounded by silverware and pans. At least 3 bags were full of broken plates, bowls, and glasses. She shook her head, and reached passed him for a sponge.
“Jason, you could’ve told me that you couldn’t cook,” Elizabeth dumped the gooey mixture into the garbage disposal, and filled the pan with water. She wiped down the stove, as the boys remained on the floor. She held her breath as she opened the microwave. A cloud of smoke came out, and caused her to cough. She took the bag out, and threw it in the trash. Then, reached to shut off the annoying alarm. She headed to the door, and Jason finally stood.
“Elizabeth, come on. Liz, sit down. You shouldn’t be on your feet like that,” Jason finally got his arms around her waist, and he led her towards the couch. She shook her head, and swung the door open.
“Johnny? Can you come get these bags and take them downstairs?” Elizabeth pointed towards the kitchen, and Johnny quickly removed the trash. Elizabeth moved back into the kitchen, and lifted the boy into her arms. He rested his head on her shoulder, and she realized he had, had a long flight.
“I’ll take him upstairs,” Jason lifted Michael with ease, and smiled at Elizabeth before heading up the stairs. Elizabeth watched till they turned the corner, before going back into the kitchen to finish cleaning. She wiped off the counters, returned everything to it’s rightful spot, cleaned the floor, and did the dishes.
