What You Need to Know: Everything is the same up until the point of Elizabeth going to tell Jason the truth about the baby. She still doesn’t tell him but her reasoning is different and others will know the truth just not Jason at first. Also the who Nicholas tumor thing doesn’t happen. I have never liked Lucky before the fire or after, so the Lucky in this story will still be a prick. And I hated Emily during the whole Liz has feelings for Jason thing, so my Emily will be a true friend to Liz. Some events are the same but the time frame is different, there is no Laura recovery and the Diego shooting happens in late October but is resolved by mid-November. The JaSam reunion is in the making but not completely there yet. Everything else you’ll as the story progresses.
Prologue
She stood there and listened. Listened while he told her that Carly was right. It was better that Lucky was the father. It was better for everyone, that an abusive drug addict was the father to my child. She listened to him tell her that she didn’t have to deal with his job, and that this way was safer for her and her children. She was looking him straight in the eyes and they looked sad, so sad that she couldn’t tell if it was the truth or not. The Jason she used to know didn’t lie, but this Jason learned to lie years ago. So she did the only thing she could do, she lied. She told him that it was better for Lucky, that it was better for Lucky’s recovery. It was better for him and Sam. It was better for her. Then she said, she hoped they could still be friends. He agreed, then told her he was glad things turned out the way she wanted. So she took a chance, that maybe he’d say something , anything to make her think he actually wanted the truth.
“Jason, is this what you wanted?”
But before he could answer Sam walks in. They both turn to look at her.
“It this about the baby? Did you get the paternity test back?” She looks scared.
Jason answers her, “The baby is Lucky’s”, and Elizabeth could swear at that moment, both he and Sam looked relieved. So she had her answer without Jason ever saying a word. At that moment Liz resolved to raise her children alone. Because whether Jason knew it or not he’d just broken her heart again. She wasn’t even sure what she said then, she just knew she had to get out of there. She had to think, she needed to figure out her next move. She headed to the door and gave Sam wide girth when she passed her out the door.
Chapter One
Docks
Liz ended up on the docks, watching the water. She really didn’t know what she was going to do. The only thing she did know for sure was that she was a mother. For the past year she’d put Lucky’s needs before Cam. She’d basically put her son in danger everyday by living in a home with an addict. Now she has this new baby to think about, so she’s going to do what she has to do protect them both. She was going to tell Lucky the truth.
At the exact moment she came to that decision, Nicolas and Emily walked.
“Liz, how are you?” Emily asked as she gave her an hug.
“I’m fine Em. I’m just thinking.”
“Are you worried about Lucky?”
“Actually, Em I’m worried about my children. Lucky and I are getting a divorce and I finally have to put my children’s well being first.”
Nicolas finally spoke up, “Elizabeth, I know he screwed up. But he’s trying to get help. Can’t you just wait, think about this. Give him a chance.”
“Nicolas, I have given him chances. I’ve given him plenty of chances. But I can’t worry about him anymore I can’t put what he needs above my kids, or hell before myself anymore.”
“What about this baby, his baby?” Nicolas voice started to rise and Liz could tell that he was going to be pissed but she didn’t care.
“What about his son, Cameron? You know the son who had drugs in his toy box. The same son who is afraid to be around Lucky most of the time because he’s happy one minute and screaming at me the next. The same son who could’ve been killed because Lucky left his gun out when he passed out while at home alone with Cam. You know the same child he didn’t care enough about to get sober for, but as soon as I’m pregnant with his child he can go to rehab.” By the end of speech she was yelling and she was crying, but she wasn’t finished. “For years I’ve made excuses for him, I’ve taken his bullshit. I’ve let his pride make us live in a one bedroom apart and struggle to make ends meet. When all he had to do was ask for help. I have been mother, father, husband, and wife in this family, when he should’ve been a partner. Instead I split my time raising Cam and placating Lucky and his “daddy issues!” But now I’m am done! I am so done!! You are his family you help his weak willed ass. I’ve stayed with him through thing that Emily kicked your ass to curb for, but because he help me through my rape ten years ago means I owe him for life. I faked my death for him, I forgave him for sleeping with my sister, I married him, and stood by him when he was accusing me of sleeping with Patrick, then even after I caught him with Maxie I still took him back. He’s shot at me and pushed me down twice all while I’ve been pregnant with HIS child. So can I wait, HELL NO!!!!!!”
Nicolas and Emily stood speechless for a minute. They both were both slowly processing the things Elizabeth had just yelled. All things they knew where true. All things neither could deny and at that moment. Emily let her dream of the “Four Musketeers” go. At that moment she became Elizabeth’s best friend. She stepped in front of Elizabeth stopping her from the angry pacing she had started during her rant.
“Liz, I am so sorry that, we didn’t see what this was doing to you. I am so sorry that you have had to go through this by yourself. But that ends today. You are my best friend and I think its time I started to act like it.” She hugged her friend as they both cried together.
“Thanks, Em. But I did this to myself. You have nothing to be sorry for. I let my blind loyalty lead us both, I enabled Lucky to act the way he has been. I gave him the power to control our lives and I didn’t try change the things I knew were wrong between us. I love him, but I know we should never I have gotten married. I knew when he reacted so badly to me carrying the baby for Jax and Courtney, that he was still the Lucky who wanted to control every part of my life. But I married him anyway.”
“Oh, God Liz. Why didn’t you talk to me? If were so unhappy why didn’t you say anything?”
“Say what Em. That even though I love Lucky he and I weren’t meant to be. That he and I weren’t Luke and Laura. That I would’ve been better raising my child alone than letting him get attached to a man who loved drugs more than him. Everyone would’ve had a fit. You all want me to forgive everything, put aside all my feelings, wants, and needs, to take care of Lucky. But no one was worried about what was best for me.”
Nicolas realized then what they had done, how they had treated her, how they had let Lucky treat her and for the first time he felt guilty.
“Elizabeth I am sorry. I’ve watched this happen and I did nothing but make it worse for you. I have watched my brother do things to you that I wouldn’t stand for if it was my sister. I knew he was in a bad place and I did nothing to try to help his wife and child. And for that I am sorry.”
“Nicolas, thank you. But I’m an adult and I am responsible for myself and my child. No one else could’ve fixed this for us other than me.” She walked to him and hugged him. “ But thank you for understanding.”
She turned to face Emily, “I have to talk to Lucky, I’ve avoided it enough, before I do though I have to talk to you both about some of the things I have to tell him. Because he is going to need your help.”
“Okay, Liz we can go to Spoon Island, and talk there. Then Emily and I will go to the rehab center with you.”
Chapter Two
Spoon Island
“When I say this, I don’t want judgments or opinions. I just want to get this out so I can move forward in my life.”
Nicolas and Emily didn’t say anything they just waited for Elizabeth to finish.
“The night I caught Lucky and Maxie together in my bed, I sleep with someone else.” She heard Emily gasped and continued. “This baby is not Lucky’s. I had the father take a paternity test when it was safe and Lucky’s not the father.”
To say Nicolas and Emily were stunned, was an understatement. The tension in the room was pliable, neither spoke or even breathed for what seemed like an hour. Emily was the first to speak.
“Who’s the father?”
“It doesn’t matter Em, because he doesn’t want to be apart of this baby’s life. And honestly I’m okay with that. I would rather my children be happy with one parent than to have two and one doesn’t love them enough.”
Nicolas knew who the father was then. Elizabeth didn’t know Sam had told him about Jason and Liz’s on night stand. So if Lucky wasn’t the father, that meant Jason was, and for whatever reason Elizabeth had decided to keep it from him. Nicolas wasn’t sure how he felt about that. Keeping a father from his child. He knew how it felt because Jax and Carly had done the same thing to him. He knew what it felt like to learn someone had keep your child from you. But he also knew that Liz wouldn’t do this if she didn’t feel it was right for her children. Jason’s life wasn’t safe and those around him died all the time. So he could understand why Elizabeth would want her children safe. So he would support her and help her. He would keep her secret safe.
“Elizabeth, if you want to do this by yourself, we will help anyway we can. And we’ll go with you to see Lucky. He deserves to know the truth and if can’t stay sober for himself, then that’s his problem not yours.”
Liz stared at Nicolas in awe, like he had warped into someone else before her eyes.
“Thank you Nicolas for saying that. But he’s your brother and I would understand if you were not able to understand.”
“Liz who am I to judge. You were hurting and you made a mistake. How can I fault you for something I did myself?” He turned his head slightly to look at Emily. “I’ll help you any way I can.”
“No, Liz, we’ll help you any way we can.”
“Thank you, both. Right now I just need you to help me tell Lucky. Then I need you help him through this.”
“Okay sweetie we can do that.
Chapter Three
Rehab Center
Lucky’s room at the rehab center was bare. Nothing about was remotely close to homey or welcoming. Just four walls, a bed, and a night stand. He had no pictures, no phone, not one thing but time. All he had was time to think. To think about his life, his mistake, his Elizabeth. He received the divorce papers today. She was going to leave him, she was taking his child from him, she was giving up on him. He knew he’d messed up but, it wasn’t all his fault. He didn’t get shot on purpose, Maxie had given him the drugs, which he wouldnn't have needed if Liz had been more supportive. Now she’s giving up. They had a permanent lock and she was breaking her promise to him. God he needed a pill. Just to one pill, because this hurt and the pills made the hurt seem distance, like a dream. He couldn’t understand what more she wanted, he’d came to rehab, he’d stopped taking pills, he’d even stopped seeing Maxie. What more did she want from him?
Nicolas, Emily, and Liz waited just outside Lucky’s room, listening to Lucky. They doubted he even knew he was talking out loud. Liz stood dazed with her hand covering her mouth. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. He hadn’t come to rehab, because he wanted to change. He’d come so she’d come back him. He wasn’t ready to give up drugs. He’d never recover until he accepted his own acts, until he wanted to be sober for himself. At that moment she knew she had made the right decision. At that moment Nicolas and Emily knew the same thing.
“Elizabeth we don’t have to do this now. We come back. I’m not even sure you should tell him now.”
Elizabeth looked at Nicolas with tears in her eyes, “No, Nicolas I need to do this. I can’t let him go on thinking that this is his baby. I can’t let him think that there is chance that we’ll be together again.”
When she opened the door, Lucky jumped from the bed startled. “Elizabeth” He breathed her name softly with a smile on his face. “I’m happy you came.”
“Hi, Lucky”
He stepped toward her to give her a hug, but she took a step back, “Lucky we need to talk.”
“I know, I got the divorce papers today. But you’re here now and we can talk. Elizabeth I don’t want a divorce.”
“Well Lucky, I haven’t changed my mind, I still want a divorce. We can’t get past this, and I’m not sure I want to try.”
“Of course we can get pass this. I’m here so we can make out marriage work.”
“That’s just it Lucky, you should be here to make your life better, whether I’m in it or not. Our marriage, my children shouldn’t be the reason you get clean. You should be doing this for yourself. Just the fact that you’re not says that you may not be ready, and I can’t trust that. I need to do what’s best for my children. Lucky being with you is not what’s best.”
“What do you mean what’s best for your children? That’s my baby you’re carrying. I’m getting clean so I can be a father to my child. I will not let you take my baby from me!” Lucky was yelling now. He was pissed. Who did Elizabeth think she was talking about “Her” children as if he had nothing to do with the baby she was carrying. Well she could forget it, he was going to be a father to his child.
“What about Cam, Lucky? You getting clean to be a father to him. What about me? You getting clean to be a husband to me.”
He stared at her for a moment before he answered, “Why would you ask that? You’re my wife, Cam’s my son. Of course I want to be there for you both.”
“So why weren’t you there for us? I’ve had my son leave his home, I’ve worked doubled shifts at the hospital, only to come home dead tired, to help you detox. I’m been mommy and daddy to cam for almost a year and you expect to believe, now because you think I’m pregnant with your child, that all of a sudden Cam and I are worth a trip to rehab.”
Lucky listen to Liz and when he heard her say “you think I’m pregnant with your child” he snapped. He grabbed her arm and yelled, “What do you mean a child I think is mine? That’s my child you are carrying!”
Liz gasped when Lucky grabbed her arm, “No, Lucky it’s not!” Before anyone could react Lucky raised his hand and hit Elizabeth.
Emily could believe her eyes as she watched Lucky’s hand land across Elizabeth’s face. In all the years she’d known him, even when he had been brainwashed by Helena, she never thought she’d see the day that Lucky would hit a woman, let alone Elizabeth. She watched as Liz fell into Nicolas’ arms and held her face. She watched as Nicolas punched his brother and yelled at him for hitting Liz. She watched as the orderlies came in, to restrain them. She watched as the last shred of respect she had for a man she’d known her whole life left her. With tears running down her face she went to Liz and hugged her and ushered her out the room.
Nicolas knew that Lucky wouldn’t take the news of the baby well, but he never thought he’d respond like this. Nicolas caught Lucky’s arm before he could retaliate against the punch he’d just thrown. Lucky then tried to push pass Nicolas to get to Liz as the orderlies ran into the room and Emily guided Liz out. Nicolas watched as Lucky struggled against the doctor as he tried to sedate him. Nicolas watched as Lucky continued to yell foul names at Elizabeth’s retreating back and blamed her for everything wrong with his life. Nicolas watched as the drugs took affect and his brother’s yells turned to whimpers and the fight slowly sipped out of him. In that moment, Nicolas wished he didn’t know his brother, because he realized the responsibility of Lucky, had just been given to him.
Chapter Four
Elizabeth’s House
It had been a month since the incident with Lucky and Elizabeth was moving forward with her life. Emily helped her find a house and Nicolas decided to find Lucky a rehab center outside of Port Charles. Jason hadn’t been around because he and was tied up in a new Sam situation. Life for Elizabeth and Cameron was fairly quiet. Cam didn’t ask for Lucky as much and he started to blossom under all the love that Elizabeth showered him with. She worked normal hours at the hospital and wasn’t as stressed with worry for things she could control. Thanks to Nicolas all of her outstanding bills from her marriage were taken care of, so she started out in her new home with a clean slate.
Today was laundry day and Cam was over visiting her gram. Life was simple and for the first time in long time Elizabeth almost felt at peace. The only problem was that she felt guilty about not telling Jason about the baby. On one hand she felt he deserved to know, on the other his life was dangerous and everyone in his life including Jason, himself said it was better with Lucky as the father. Besides even if she wanted to change her mind he was on the run from the law with Sam and some computer geek. Her life was simple and Jason’s was anything but simple.
Elizabeth had just started folding her last load of clothes when she heard a knock on the door. She could see through the window that it was Nicolas.
“Hi, Nic what are you doing here.”
“Hey, Elizabeth. I stopped by because I needed to talk to you about a few things.”
“Okay, come in.” she stepped out his way to allow him in and closed the door behind him. They both took a seat on the couch.
“So what’s on your mind?”
“First is Cam here? Because I really don’t want him to here this.”
“No he’s not here, he’s with my gram, but you starting to scare me.”
“I’m sorry that’s not what I’m trying to do, but I am trying to be honest. Lucky left rehab about a week ago. The doctors are pretty sure if he hasn't already he will be back on drugs soon. Before he left he said some things about you and Patrick Drake which led them to believe they should report his disappearance to the police. The police contacted me today and I’ve already seen Patrick. I think it’s a good chance that Lucky may come after you Elizabeth. It’s a good chance it might be worse, a lot worse than what happened last month.”
“So you’re saying Lucky is going to try to….” She couldn’t finish, she didn’t want to because it didn’t make sense. She couldn’t comprehend or accept the man she was married to might want to hurt her in some way or worse kill her.
“I’m sorry, Elizabeth. I’m doing all I can to find him, but he’s Luke Spencer’s son if he doesn’t want to be found he won’t be.”
“Oh God, do you think he’ll go after Cam?”
“I really don’t know but I do know you might want to consider telling Jason about his baby.”
He had stunned her then. One she didn’t know he knew about Jason, and secondly Nicolas didn’t like him all that much. Stuttering she answered him, “How…. How do you know about Jason?”
“Sam told me about you and him, so when you us told about the baby but refused to tell who the father was, I put two and two together. Don’t worry I haven’t told Emily and if you decide not to go to Jason. I won’t tell her either.”
“Why would you tell me to go to Jason? You hate him and you think he’s dangerous. I don’t know how many times you’ve said his life style will kill me. What’s going on?”
He took a deep breath and let it out, “Elizabeth I’m pretty sure Helena helped Lucky leave rehab. As matter of fact I’m pretty sure he asked her for help.”
“Are you sure?” He lowered his head and nodded yes. “My car’s in the shop can you drive me to Jason’s penthouse.”
Chapter Five
Jason’s Penthouse
“Jason, I love you and I want to give us another chance. After everything we’ve been through can you honestly say you don’t still love me?”
Sam was holding her breath waiting for Jason’s answer. The past month had been horrible, with Ric trying to put her in jail and the Diego Alcazar shooting, but through it all Jason had been there for her. They had been trying to work on their relationship when all of thts mess started and they had yet to actually say they were together again. But Sam knew he loved her and in the end that’s all that mattered.
“Sam, I…..” Just as he was about to answer her, there’s a knock at the door. “I gotta get that, just wait.” He walked to the door and Elizabeth and Nicolas was standing on the other side.
“Jason I need your help.” Liz look scared and he knew he wouldn’t turn her away.
“Come in.”
Liz and Nicolas walk through the door and Sam sighs when she sees who it is.
“Hi, Sam we’re sorry for disturbing you, but Nicolas and I need to talk to Jason. Its really important or I would be here otherwise.”
“It’s fine Elizabeth. Jason and I can finish this later. I need to go check on Alexis anyway.” She kissed Jason, spoke to Nicole as she made her way out the door.
“What can I do for you Elizabeth?”
“Lucky left the rehab center and Nicolas is pretty sure that Helena helped him.” Jason rubbed his hand across his face and let out a frustrated sigh. He’d just helped Sam out of a situation, now Elizabeth is asking him to help Lucky.
“You want me to help you find Lucky?”
Nicolas answered before Liz could, “No we want you to protect her from Lucky and Helena. I wouldn’t ask but I have to take care of Emily and Spencer. I love Elizabeth, but I can’t make her an priority. If Helena’s in the mix, I don’t want a repeat of Spencer being kidnapped. I'm asking you to help, because I need someone to focus on Liz and Cam. Elizabeth and Emily have always told me you’d do anything for them I’m hoping you can do this.”
“Of course I’ll help. But why would Liz need protection from Lucky?”
Nicolas gave Jason the file he received from Lucky’s doctors along with all the info he had on Helena. “Everything you need to know is in this file, I’ll let Elizabeth explain the rest.” He turned to Elizabeth and gave her a hug and told her to call him if she needed anything.
After Nicolas left Elizabeth waited on the couch while Jason went over the file, he’d just received. About five minutes later he looked up from the, looking Elizabeth straight in the eyes and asked, “Why does Lucky believe your baby is Patrick Drakes?”
Elizabeth knew the question was coming, she just wasn’t ready to answer it. Her head was lowered when he asked, she raised it to answer him. “I told Lucky the truth.” She took a deep breath and answered with tears in her eyes, “I told him that he wasn’t the father of my baby. He didn’t take it well, he got angry, then he hit me. So I never really got a chance to say who the father was. I guess he just assumed it was Patrick.”
She had watched him the whole time he spoke. She watched all kinds of emotions play across his face, from fear, anger, joy to betrayal. Yeah betrayal is the one that stayed there when he realized what she said.
“The baby is mine, not Lucky’s.”
“Yes”
“And you didn’t tell me?”
“Yes”
“Why?”
“I came that day to tell you but before I could you were telling me you already knew that Carly had already told. Even though I hadn’t told Carly shit.”
“So why didn’t you straighten me out?”
“When was I supposed to do that Jason? You were to busy telling me how it was better to have my drug addict husband as the father, how it was better for everyone this way.” She laughs sadly then, “You know any other time I couldn’t paid you to talk and the one time I needed you to listen you pick up my horrible habit of rambling.”
Jason sat in the chair next to the couch and remembered their conversation from that day she was right. He had told her all those things but he’d only said them because he thought that’s what she wanted. He wanted the child to be his the moment she said that there was a possibility, but he thought she wanted Lucky to be the father.
“Is that why you asked if Lucky being the father was what I wanted?”
Elizabeth, who had been crying silently since the moment she stopped talking answered, “Yes, but Sam came in and you told her that the baby was Lucky’s and you looked almost relieved. You both did. I knew then what Sonny had said was true.”
“What did Sonny say?”
“He said that it would be better if Lucky was the father, that you and Sam were trying to work things out, and you weren’t ready to be a father.”
“When did Sonny say this?”
“While you were out of town right after I got the results back. I went to find out where you where or for him to get a message to you.”
“Did you tell Sonny what it was about?”
“Yeah. He asked me about the results, I told him they came back the way I thought they would. He assumed I was talking about Lucky, the same way Carly assumed because I was working the baby couldn’t be yours. Then you assumed she was telling the truth without talking to me first.”
Damn, he thought. Between Carly, Sonny, Sam and even him, they had all convinced her that Lucky being the father was what was right. But it didn’t make keeping it from Jason right on Elizabeth’s part either. He could see why she did it but, it still didn’t make it right.
“Would you have ever told me Elizabeth?”
“Honestly, I would like to say yes, but you said it yourself your life isn’t safe. I wanted Lucky to give up drugs because he was a danger to us while he was on them. But how could I ask you to give up your life. Because what you do isn’t just a job it’s a way of life and no matter how much you would want to protect our baby you couldn’t guarantee it’s safety. You can control your actions but you can’t control your enemies.”
It hurt for him to hear her words, but it hurt even more that it was true.
“Elizabeth, you know I’d lay down my life for my child. I’d do anything in my power to protect you and your children. But I also can’t deny the truth of what you just said. So what do you want to do?”
Well this question Elizabeth had been prepared for, this is one time she knew without a doubt that her decision this time was right. Jason had enemies true enough but none of those enemies were Helena Cassidine.
“Jason, I want us to get married.”
Chapter Six
Penthouse the next day
After Elizabeth dropped the marriage bomb on Jason, he simply said okay, flipped open his cell phone and started making arrangements. That night he had Milo escort Liz to her house to pack her and Cameron’s things. Then Liz and Jason went to her gram’s to pick up Cam. She also talked to Alan and made arrangements to take a leave of absence. She wasn’t sure when Helena and Lucky were showing up, but she wanted Cameron with her until that happened.
Early this morning Diane had showed up with two things, the first was a marriage certificate and the second were forms needed in order to start the adoption process for Cam. That’s one point Jason hadn’t discussed with Liz yet. They also hadn’t talked about the obvious, what kind of marriage would they have? Neither had mention it, but they both were thinking about it. Elizabeth was the first to bring it up. Jason was helping Spinelli a really weird kid he had staying with him out the pink room to the downstairs bedroom, located off the kitchen.
“Jason, can we talk for a minute upstairs?”
“Yeah sure, just let me get this last box in Spinelli’s room and I’ll be right up.”
It took Jason five minutes to get up stairs and four of those minutes was because he was nervous about being alone in a bedroom with Elizabeth.
“Hey, Liz what did you need to talk about.”
“This” Liz said swinging open towards the bedroom. “When you talked about marriage before I asked you what kind of marriage would it be? Well you never answered me. I know you and Sam were trying to work things out. I just want to know if you still will. I wanna know where I stand. You are doing this for my kids and I, but I need to protect myself also. I can’t pretend to be a real wife to you and know that you’re going to still see Sam. I’m not saying that you can’t I’m just saying, tell me now if its going to happen. I know you love her and you can’t shut those feelings off, so if you want to continue to see her that’s find. All I ask is please be discreet.”
He was shocked, he stood by the door quiet. Almost too quiet, for Elizabeth’s taste. He’d heard everything thing she said he just couldn’t believe she’d said it. He had been with Courtney while he was with Brenda, but he also couldn’t stand Brenda and it was business. Even when he was going to marry Sam when she was pregnant with Sonny’s baby he had planned on being faithful. So why Elizabeth thought his vows to her would mean less, was shocking to him.
“Elizabeth, I don’t know what you expect me to say to that. Are you planning on dating someone when we marry?”
“No, Jason. I plan on focusing on my children. I plan on doing anything possible to make them happy and safe. And besides there is no one crazy enough to try to date your wife.”
“So what you saying is I should just pick up with my ex girlfriend were we left off. I should just leave my family to go spend time with Sam. I should probably purchase a loft for her like I did with Courtney. I should leave you in this penthouse alone to worry about if I’m with Sam. I should just treat you as if you don’t matter, because that’s what I did before. Is that what you’re saying Elizabeth?”
She could tell he was pissed, but what did he expect everything he’d said he’d done before so why shouldn’t she expect the same thing. “Yes”
That one word made him feel as if he’d been punched. She really thought he’d treat her that way. She really thought she didn’t matter to him. Until this moment he never really knew just how badly he messed up with Elizabeth. She didn’t expect him to treat her with respect, she didn’t expect him to stay faithful to the family they were starting. She expected to be a single mother while she was married to him. How had things changed so drastically from the way Jason and Elizabeth used to be. She was his best friend once but he’d ruined it and now he had to fix it.
Jason walked to Liz and took her hands into his, “Elizabeth, you are not an obligation or an a burden. If I didn’t want this I wouldn’t be marrying you. If you remember I asked before I even knew who the father was. You have spent your life taking care of others, I just wanted to take care of you for once. You shouldn’t have to struggle to raise two kids by yourself, you should be able to paint and not worry about bills. You should be able to be happy without feeling guilty because you’re only worrying about you. You gave me a safe place, you stood up for me, you protected me, you gave me peace from the chaos that was my life.” He stepped closer to her then, his hand traveled up her arm to her face to cup her cheek. “I want to give that to you and not because I owe you, but because its what you deserve.”
By the time Jason finish speaking Elizabeth she was crying. She was also screwed because she was in love with Jason.
What You Need to Know: Everything is the same up until the point of Elizabeth going to tell Jason the truth about the baby. She listened to him tell her that she didn’t have to deal with his job, and that this way was safer for her and her children.
