To anyone watching the scene it would seem to be one of familial bliss. The small but cozy apartment littered with toys belonging to the small blonde boy nestled on the sofa between his parents. The light from the tv casting colorful shadows as the cheerful chatter of the cartoon filled the air. He’d expected it to be awkward, harder, but it wasn’t. He couldn’t follow the movie, a complication of his accident but, Justin was so excited he didn’t want to say anything to ruin it. It was easy to sit here and pretend. Pretend they were a family, that this was just another Friday night. He found himself watching her out of the corner of his eye, a skill he’d mastered in his line of work. She didn’t seem to pay all that much attention to the movie either but he suspected that for an entirely different reason. She never sat still, he wondered at first if it was because of his presence. She was constantly shifting as if she could never stay in on position to long and every once in a while she would reach out smoothing a hand through Justin’s hair. She crossed and uncrossed her legs one foot constantly bouncing. Justin never seemed to notice, he sat statue like his gaze transfixed on the tv, which made him think that this wasn’t out of character for the brunet. Sometimes she’d turn and look at him, her gaze still guarded and cold but there was something else there, something that hadn’t been there before, curiosity.
“He’s asleep.” She whispered standing and turning on a soft table lamp as she shut off the tv.
“Where is.” Jason began as he picked the sleeping child up.
“First door.” She replied gathering as she gathered the cups and empty popcorn bowl.
She absently did the dishes the whole time her mind on the stoic blonde in her son’s room. Jason, Jason Quartermain, Morgan whatever he was calling himself. The man she’d spent the last five years hating. He was the same man. She had to keep telling herself that. She knew it wasn’t true. Granted she hadn’t been all that close to the man he was, except for his face he bore no resemblance to Jason Quartermain. Then why did his smile still make her weak in the knees? She had to keep him at arms length, it was the only way she could do this. They couldn’t be friends, just two people who happen to be parents to the same child. Right Webber, cause that makes sense, she sighed.
“When he was a baby I’d watch him sleep all night.” She admitted quietly leaning against the door frame as she watched Jason sitting on the edge of Justin’s bed watching him sleep. “Partly because I was terrified something would happen to him, and partly because I couldn’t tear myself away. He was so small and helpless, I was so afraid I’d mess up, scar him for life.”
“I know what you mean.” He said standing.
“Who’s Michael?” Liz asked confused.
“He’s..He was Jason’s son.” Emily began unsurely.
She flicked on his nightlight before shutting the door quietly behind them as they walked back into the kitchen.
“Thanks for letting me stay.” Jason said unsurely.
“It made Justin happy.” She shrugged. “I’d pretty much do anything to accomplish that.”
“Even put up with me.” he replied.
“Yeah.” She smiled. “Even put up with you. So what did you think of Pokemon the movie?”
“It was ok.” He shrugged. “I...I can’t..I couldn’t really see it.” He admitted.
“Huh?” She asked confused.
“Since the accident, things like that, pictures and stuff, I don’t really see them, I can’t. Especially like that when they’re moving. It was just like a colorful blur.” He explained.
“I had no idea.” She replied.
“It’s not a big deal.” He shrugged.
“I couldn’t live like that.” She replied. “I didn’t mean it like that.” She hurriedly explained. “It’s just if I couldn’t see pictures....I was an artist, or I was going to be, before.....I’d gotten a full scholarship to SVA. The School of Visual Arts, it’s in the city. One of the best in the country.”
“Why didn’t you go.” He asked.
“I got pregnant.” She replied. “I couldn’t go to school, work and keep the baby, I had to choose. I don’t regret it but, sometimes I do wonder.”
“Your family wouldn’t help you?” He asked.
“We never really got along.” She sighed. “They’re all doctors, my parents, my brother and sister, hell my grandparents, art was a waste of time. I never measured up. Getting pregnant was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak.”
“What happened?” He asked.
“They threw me out.” She shrugged. “I haven’t spoken to them since.”
“I’m sorry.” He replied.
“It’s not your fault, you can’t pick your family.” She shrugged.
“I know what you mean.” He nodded. “I don’t really get along with mine either, not since the accident.”
“It must have been hard.” She said understandingly.
“They wanted me to be someone I wasn’t anymore.” He explained. “I got tired of them pushing so I walked away. I only talk to Emily and my grandmother, they accept who I am now.”
“Can I ask you something?” She began unsurely.
“Sure.” He shrugged.
“Who’s Michael?” She asked.
“My nephew.” He replied calmly but he was unable to disguise the flash of pain in his eyes.
“Really, Emily mentioned he was your son.” She replied.
“She shouldn’t have.” He replied with an edge in his voice.
“Sorry, forget I asked.” She said hurriedly.
“No, it’s ok.” He sighed. “It’s just....Michael was the son of friend of mine. About a year after the accident, she got pregnant, she was scared and asked for my help. Everyone thought he was mine but, he was really my brother AJ’s.”
The one who was driving when you...” She began.
“Yeah.” Jason nodded. “He was still drinking and I had to protect Michael from that. Carly, she suffered from postpartum depression, took off after he was born, so I raised him. For a year until she came back. AJ found out the truth and I had to give him up.”
“I can’t imagine.” She said sympathetically.
“It was the hardest thing I ever had to do but, he’s ok.” Jason replied. “AJ cleaned up his act. He’s his father, He loves him.”
“But so do you.” She nodded. “Do you ever see him.”
“I..I didn’t want to confuse him.” He explained painfully. “AJ and I were always fighting, he was scared and confused and it was better for him if I stayed away. He doesn’t know me anymore. I should get going, I’ll be by to pick him up for practice in the morning.”
“Ok.” She said walking him to the door. “Good night Jason.”
“Good night Elizabeth.” He nodded walking out the door.

“I had nothing to do with this.” Sonny said as he took a seat next to Jason in the wooden bleachers.
“What’s going on?” Jason asked confused. “Why are you here.....Brenda.” He groaned.
“What?” She asked walking over to the pair. “Stone wanted to play too.”
“Sure he did.” Jason smirked. “What did you give him?”
“Nothing.” Brenda said indignantly.
“A playstation.” Stone said pushing Brenda away as she tried to adjust his hat. “And it gets me out of tennis lessons.”
“Traitor.” Brenda glared. “What’s the harm anyways?”
“With you involved who knows?” Sonny grinned. “Have fun Pal.” He smiled at his son.
“Score a touch down or whatever.” Brenda shrugged.
“That’s football mom.” Stone groaned.
“Even I know that.” Jason laughed.
“Gotta go.” Stone said running off as the coach called the players in.
“Which one is he?” Brenda asked scanning the group of children. “Oh god, he looks just like you.” She said spotting him instantly. “So where’s Elizabeth? I was hoping to finally meet her.”
“She’s not here.” Jason replied.
“Oh.” Brenda pouted disappointedly. “So, it’s just the two of you?”
“Sorry to disappoint.” Jason said rolling his eyes.
“No, I’m just a little surprised.” Brenda explained. “I mean she must not hate you as much as you think, if she’s letting you be alone with him. I’m just saying she’s trusting you.” She added at his confused look.
“I guess.” Jason replied.
“So how long does this practice crap go on?” She asked boredly.
“Hey, this was your idea.” Sonny laughed.
“Don’t tell me to calm down.” Liz glared.
“We can go spy on them if you want.” Zander offered teasingly.
“No, I’m sure their fine.” Liz sighed.
“So you let him stay for movie night.” Zander began.
“For Justin.” She insisted.
“Because you hate him.” He nodded.
“I don’t hate him.” She sighed. “I want to, believe me I do, but he just makes it so damn hard.”
“So how do we feel about him?” Zander asked unsurely.
“We?” Liz asked amused.
“Yeah, you know how it goes, you don’t like someone and I don’t, and vice versa. It’s our thing.” He laughed.
“Zander were not seven anymore.” Liz laughed. “Feel free to form an independent opinion at any time.”
“What would be the fun of that?” He asked. “Now stop avoiding the question, how do you feel about Jason?”
“I don’t know.” She sighed. “I’m still trying to figure that out.”
“Let me know when you do.” he nodded.
“You’ll be my first call.” She promised.
“I’d better be.” He mock glared at her.
“I just...I’m a mess.” Liz laughed. “I haven’t had a Saturday to myself since I was eighteen. I don’t even know what to do with myself.”
“You know there’s an art store down two blocks.” Zander began.
“And you just happen to know this.” Liz said shaking her head.
“Ok, so I asked around when you finally agreed to move here.” Zander admitted.
“You know I don’t do that anymore.” She sighed. “I don’t have time, or the money to waste on Art.”
“You never used to think of it as a waste.” He said frustrated. “The only waste is your talent cause you wont do anything with it.”
“I told you a million times, I don’t have the time or money.” Liz insisted annoyed.
“Well you do now.” Zander replied firmly throwing a few bills on the table as he stood. “Come on.”
“Where are we going?” Liz asked unsurely.
“To the art store, I’m going to buy you some supplies, and before you even think about arguing, consider it a house warming gift.” He declared. “With Jason being a part of Justin’s life your going to have more time for yourself.”
“That doesn’t mean I have to start painting again.” Liz replied standing.
“What else are you going to do?” Zander asked. “Start watching soaps?”
“God help me.” Liz laughed. “Fine, you win, to the art store.”

“Can I help you Miss....” Max asked politely as the nervous brunet stepped off the elevator.
“Webber.” She supplied for him. “But please call me Elizabeth.”
“Max did Sonny say when he was...” Brenda began poking her head out the door pausing when she saw the visitor. “Hello.”
“Miss Webber just arrived.” Max explained.
“Miss..Oh you must be Elizabeth.” Brenda grinned excitedly. “I’ve been dying to meet you but Sonny basically has me on lock down, the man is insane. But I love him anyway.” She laughed. “You’d think I was carrying a time bomb instead of a baby.” She said smoothing a hand over her rounded abdomen. “Come in, come in.” She ordered the very confused woman.
“Actually I was looking for Jason, I thought he lived here.” Liz began unsurely.
“Oh him, yeah.” Brenda nodded. “Right across the hall.” She said nodding to his doorway. “He’s not home, he and my lovely husband are out in the world, where I’m not allowed to be.” She added dramatically. “You can wait for them with me.”
“That’s very kind of you to offer...”
“Brenda.” She replied.
“Well Brenda it was nice to meet you and all but.....your husband really doesn’t let you leave the house?” She asked nervously. What the hell went on around here.
“I tend to exaggerate.” Brenda replied seeing her unease. “He’s just overprotective, especially since I’m pregnant. I’m not crazy, really you can ask anyone. Well don’t ask Jason he thinks I am. He’s actually forbidden me from speaking to you. Which just makes it that much more fun. I think he’s worried I’ll scare you away. I don’t know why, people love me, he on the other hand could use some people skills.” Brenda continued pulling the reluctant brunet into her apartment. “Well this is home, let me take your coat. Have a seat anywhere, do you want anything to drink, or eat? I think we have..”
“I’m fine.” Liz cut her off.
“Sorry, once I get going you just can’t shut me up.” Brenda smiled sheepishly. “Feel free to tell me when I need to. I haven’t let you get a word in edge wise. So,” She began sitting down on the plush cream sofa and patting the seat next to her. “Tell me everything there is to know about Elizabeth Webber.”
“I’ll get Alexis on the contracts in the morning.” Sonny said stepping off the elevator with Jason right behind him.
“Boss.” Max cut in nervously. “We may have a problem.”
“What is it?” Sonny asked worriedly. “Is it Brenda? The baby? Is ..”
“Brenda’s fine.” Max assured him. “It’s Miss Webber I’m worried about.”
“Elizabeth?” Jason asked confused. “Did something happen?”
“She stopped by about an hour ago.” Max explained reluctantly. “To see you and Mrs Corinthos....”
“What did Brenda do?” Jason groaned.
“Well she...the thing is...she sort of Kidnaped her.” Max stammered. “Their inside.” He said nodding to Sonny’s door.
“Sonny I’m going to kill your wife.” Jason replied calmly stalking to his partners doorway.
“Not until after the baby is born.” Sonny called after him shaking his head as he hurried to catch up.
“Emily why didn’t you tell us Jason had a son?” Edward demanded.
“I figured if Jason wanted you to know he’d tell you.” Emily replied nervously.
“Are we sure it’s even really his kid?” AJ asked boredly. “I mean some woman shows up withe a five year old claiming it’s his, how do we know she’s just not looking for a quick score?”
“She’s telling the truth.” Emily said defensively. “All you have to do is look at Justin to know he’s Jason’s.”
“Justin.” Monica said dreamily. “It’s a lovely name.”
“And just when are we going to meet the future CEO of ELQ?” Edward demanded.
“If you call him that probably never.” Emily said rolling her eyes.
“Nonsense.” Edward waved her off. “I’ll speak with his mother, she must be more reasonable than my thug of a grandson. She’ll understand what we could do for the boy.”
“Justin.” Emily corrected.
“What was that dear?” Edward asked.
“His name, it’s Justin.” Emily replied annoyed.
“Of course it is.” Edward said staring at her confused.
“This isn’t going to end well is it?” Emily groaned.
“I’m afraid not dear.” Lila laughed patting her hand affectionately. “You know how your grandfather is, he’ll make a mess of things. But don’t worry so much, Jason can hold his own. I just hope he doesn’t try to bully the poor mother.”
“I kind of hope he does.” Emily smirked her hand instinctively going to the fading cut on her forehead. “Justin takes after his father.” She explained. “He doesn’t let anyone mess with his mom.”
“He sounds like a lovely boy.” Lila smiled.

He didn’t know what he expected walking into the penthouse, Elizabeth bound and gagged as Brenda showed her one of her many scrapbooks from her modeling days asking over and over which picture she liked best. He’d seen the pictures too many times, they all looked the same to him. He didn’t expect to find the two of them sitting on the couch laughing as they eat ice cream and flipped through paint samples.
“You didn’t.” Elizabeth laughed.
“Hey a dare is a dare.” Brenda shrugged grinning. “Honey your home.” She grinned dramatically jumping up to greet her husband. “You know Elizabeth.”
“Nice to see you again Mr Corinthos.” Liz smiled politely. “I wanted to apologize about the other day.”
“It’s Sonny and Don’t worry about it.” He waved off her apology. “Should you be eating that?” He asked glancing down at his wife’s half empty bowl.
“See I told you, the food Nazi.” Brenda said shaking her head. “Yes, to answer your question, I should be eating it, cause it’s yummy.”
“It’s not healthy.” Sonny began to launch into his favorite lecture, good eating.
“It’s not healthy to annoy your pregnant wife.” Brenda cut him off with a kiss.
“Jason.” Elizabeth greeted nervously.
“Is everything alright, Max mentioned you wanted to see me.” Jason began.
“Fine.” She replied. “I should have called first instead of just stopping by.”
“It’s fine.” Jason assured her hurriedly.
“If your not busy I was hoping we could talk.” She began unsurely. “Or I could come back another time.”
“No, now’s good.” Jason replied quickly. “I’m not busy.”
“Ok then.” She said shifting nervously from foot to foot. “Thanks for the ice cream and the company.” She said turning to Brenda.
“Anytime.” Brenda smiled. “Don’t forget Lunch Tuesday my treat.”
“I wont.” Liz smiled.
“We can take the kids to the park afterwards, make a day of it.” Brenda offered.
“Sounds like a plan.” Liz nodded.
“I’ll call you later.” Brenda said walking her to the door ignoring Jason’s icy glare.
“It was nice seeing you again Mr.... Sonny.” Liz corrected.
“You too.” Sonny smiled flashing his dimples.
“So..” Jason began unsurely as he ushered her across the hall into his own penthouse.
“So this is where you live.” Elizabeth said glancing around the sparsely decorated room. “You have a pool table in your dinning room.”
“I know.” he nodded.
“Of course you know...I mean it just.....not what I expected.” She admitted as an awkward silence descended.
“Do you play?” He asked breaking the tension.
“Me no.” She said shaking her head. “Never really been around a pool table, you don’t find them in most homes.” She added teasingly. “I did play once actually...badly. It was my twenty first birthday and Zander took me out to this bar, second time in my life that I got drunk the first....well you know....I threw up on him, he wont let me drink anymore. He says I don’t make good decisions when I’m drunk. You know sleep with strange men, puke on my best friend. I’m going to stop talking now.”
“You wanted to see me for something.” he prompted.
“Oh right.” She nodded grabbing her oversized purse. “I wasn’t sure I should give these to you after the other night.” She said holding out a white envelope. “But you said you did better with actual pictures.” She said at his confused look. “There of Justin, when he was a baby, school pictures, pictures with santa, you get the point.” She said as he took the envelope from her. “There all doubles so you can keep them.”
“Thank you.” Jason replied pulling out the first picture.
“That was the day after he was born.” She smiled down at it.
“I wish I had been there...I mean.”
“I know what you mean.” She smiled unsurely. “But you were in a comma so, I can’t really hold it against you can I?”
“Things are never going to be easy between us are they?” He asked quietly.
“I don’t know Jason.” She sighed. “Your not the man I thought you were all those years, the one I hated. And I think in some ways that makes it harder, for me anyways. Does that make sense?”
“Not really.” he shrugged.
“The more time we spend together, the time you spend with Justin, how you are with him....the more I get to know you the more I realize you are the man I thought you were, and that scares me.” She tried to explain.
“I would never try to take Justin from you.” he began a bit hurt by the insinuation.
“No of course not.” She replied. “That’s not what I meant at all. I meant the man I thought you were before....I showed up pregnant.”
“Oh.” He said surprised. “And that scares you? Why?” He asked confused.
“A lot of reasons.” She smiled sadly. “I should get going.”
“Thank you for the pictures.” He replied as they stood awkwardly in his doorway.
“Goodnight.” She smiled.
“Elizabeth wait.” he called causing her to pause. “There was something I wanted to ask you.” he began as she turned around to face him.
“What is it?” She asked.
“I told you how I’m not close to my family anymore, expect for Emily and my grandmother.” He replied hesitantly.
“Yeah, you mentioned that.” She nodded for him to continue.
“I was wondering if...that is if you thought it was ok....I’d like to take him over one afternoon to meet her, my grandmother that is. I know you must have your own feelings about the Quartermains especially after how I acted. And you’d be right, about most of them, but Lila’s not like that. It would mean the world to her.”
“I don’t see a problem with that.” She shrugged. “Justin doesn’t have a lot of family, with mine writing us off and you....not being around before. I wont lie, him going to that house, being around them, does make me a little uncomfortable but I trust you.”
“You do?” He asked surprised.
“I know it took me by surprise too.” She replied with a small smile. “Goodnight Jason.”
“Goodnight Elizabeth.” He replied as she stepped onto the waiting elevator.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Brenda smiled at her distracted companion as they watched the children play.
“You should go with the pale green for the nursery.” Elizabeth replied.
“Liar.” Brenda smirked. “Don’t try and tell me you were thinking about paint samples.”
“I was thinking about Jason.” She admitted quietly. “I do that a lot lately. It’s stupid and...I don’t know if we should talk about this.”
“I’m not going to tell Jason anything you tell me.” Brenda replied understanding her unease. “Jason and I have a very odd...friendship if you could call it that. I mean I love the man but he can be so...Jason, he drives me as nuts as he claims I drive him. I want to be your friend, and yes at first it was just because for lack of a better term your Jason’s baby momma.”
“Baby momma?” Liz asked amused.
“I always wanted to say that.” Brenda shrugged. “Anyways yes, that was the main reason I wanted to get to know you but, I like you. My best friend moved to Paris last year, my husband is a mobster, most of the people in my life are paid to be there. And you missy could use a girlfriend. I don’t really see Zander as the type to talk about girly things.”
“Girly things, since when is Jason a girly thing?” Liz asked.
“Since you’ve been thinking about him...a lot.” Brenda replied.
“Ok fine you win.” Liz sighed.
“I always do.” Brenda smirked. “So spill Webber.”
“Last week he was dropping Justin off and I was in the middle of trying to fix the bathroom sink, the thing leaked since I moved in and it was driving me nits. I have no mechanical skills, whatsoever, I should not be around tools. Though I do have them, their pink.” She laughed. “Zander gave them to me as a housewarming gift when I got my first place. Anyways I was making a huge mess, and must have looked like one too when I answered the door. I mentioned what I was doing and he offered to take care of it.”
“Of course he did.” Brenda nodded for her to continue.
“So I figured he call a plumber or something, and normally I’d refuse. I have this really big independent streak, but I was near tears...he fixed it. He sat in my sopping wet bathroom, cause noone told me to turn the water off before I take of the pipe, and fixed my sink. With ridicules hot pink tools.” She smiled.
“Sounds like Jason.” Brenda said returning her smiled.
“He bought me a door.” Liz continued as if she hadn’t spoke. “He hates where I live, offered to help me afford a better place but I said no and he backed off, just like that. But he bought me a door, the things a big steel monstrosity ugly as hell....he didn’t even ask, I just came home one day and it was there. He said he wanted to make sure we were safe. And it does...I hate it...it makes me feel safe.”
“And that’s a bad thing?” Brenda asked confused.
“I hate it because I’m not sure if it makes me feel safe because it would take a tank to knock it down or because he gave it to me.” Liz confessed quietly. “I don’t want to hate him, he’s Justin’s father. I want us to get along but I just.....”
“Want to hate him.” Brenda offered understandingly.
“Yes.” Liz sighed. “Hating him was safe, made me feel safe like the stupid door does now and that’s not safe.”
“Your afraid of getting hurt again.” Brenda replied.
“I’m afraid that it’s not just my heart on the lone this time.” She replied her gaze settling on her playing son.
“I don’t like this.” Jason said pacing the office.
“Elizabeth and Brenda becoming friends could be a good thing.” Sonny offered.
“In what universe.” Jason grumbled. “Have you met the woman.”
“Hey, that’s my wife your talking about.” Sonny glared halfheartedly. “So how are things with you and Elizabeth?”
“Better.” Jason replied. “I think...I’m really not sure where I stand with her. One minute things are good then I say or do the wrong thing and we’re back at square one.”
“You can’t keep doing this to yourself man.” Sonny sighed. “I get that you hurt her but she can’t keep making you jump through hoops. Justin is your son. You deserve to be part of his life.”
“No I don’t.” Jason replied firmly.
“Jase man, whatever you did it’s in the past, it was a whole other life.” Sonny insisted. “You need to forgive yourself or she’ll always be able to hold it over your head. How bad could it be?”
“I tired to pay her off to have an abortion and when she refused threatened to take the baby away from her so she’d never see him again if she ever contacted me.” Jason replied unable to meet his gaze.
“You...wow.” Sonny sighed. “It wasn’t you.”
“No, it was the golden boy, the perfect Jason Q.” Jason scoffed. “But she had to live with that for years, the fear, the anger...How am I just supposed to write that off, say it wasn’t really me. I tried to pay her to abort him. If it had been up to me there would be no Justin. She told me the other night that she trusted me, after all that I did, she trusted me. I don’t deserve to be a part of my son’s life. All the things I’ve done since becoming Jason Morgan, the work I do for you....I kill men and feel nothing, seen things that would turn a grown man’s stomach and haven’t blinked an eye, but hearing that.....when she told me what I did, I felt dirty for the first time. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive myself.”

“Miss Webber.” He called walking briskly to catch up with the pair.
“Can I help you with Something?” Elizabeth asked unsurely instinctively pushing Justin behind her as she faced the stranger.
“You’re a very difficult woman to track down.” He smiled.
“I wasn’t aware anyone was looking.” Elizabeth said guardedly.
“Who are you?” Justin asked peeking round her legs and staring up at the old man.
“Why I’m your great grandfather my dear boy.” he smiled.
“Mom?” Justin asked confused.
“Excuse me?” Elizabeth asked with an edge to her voice.
“Edward Quartermian.” he said holding out his hand which she ignored.
“Justin honey please go wait for me with Francis.” Elizabeth ordered waiting till he was out of earshot before turning back to Edward. Francis watched the exchange unsurely as he pulled out his phone.
“Morgan.” Jason said gruffly answering his phone.
“We have a problem.” Francis replied quickly. “You might want to get to the park right about now.”
“What happened?” Jason demanded already out the door.
“Edward.” Francis replied causing him to curse as the line went dead.
“What do you want Mr Quartermian.” Elizabeth asked through clenched teeth.
“Edward, Please we’re family after all.” He replied the smile never leaving his face. “I know you don’t have much in the area, not that your family will have anything to do with you.”
“What do you know about that?” Elizabeth asked unsurely.
“I know everything my dear.” Edward grinned. “How they through you out, cut all ties.”
“I did just fine without them, we’re fine without them.” She said determinedly.
“I’m sure you are, but you must realize what we could do for you, for Justin. He is a Quartermian after all.” Edward replied.
“Justin is a Webber, not a Quartermian, never a Quartermian.” Elizabeth said furiously.
“Jason Quartermian fathered that child.” Edward began.
“That Child has a name, Justin.” She seethed. “Jason Quartermian was no father to him. If you want anything to do with him I suggest you speak to his father, Jason Morgan. I’ve left it up to him how involved his family will be in our son’s life.”
“I was hopping you’d be reasonable.” Edward sighed. “I’d hate to have to get lawyers involved.” “Did you just threaten to take my son from me?” Elizabeth asked as the color drained from her face.
“I’m simply stating a fact Miss Webber. The Quartermian are a very powerful family. We could open doors for The boy that you could even imagine.” He began.
“HIS NAME IS JUSTIN!” Elizabeth screamed furiously.
“Get the hell away from her old man.” Jason said coldly stalking over to the pair.
“Daddy!” Justin grinned flying into his arms.
“Hey Buddy.” Jason smiled his face instantly softening.
“Jason my boy we were simply talking.” Edward blustered.
“Stay away from them, I mean it.” Jason said coldly.
“Now see here.” Edward began furiously.
“We’re leaving.” Jason said holding Justin in one arm and wrapping the other around Elizabeth as he led them away from an enraged Edward. It wasn’t till he got them safely out of the park that he realized Elizabeth was shaking. He strapped Justin in the back of the waiting SUV and turned to her. “Are you ok?” he asked concerned.
“I’m...I think I’m going to be sick.” She declared running over to a nearby trash can and emptying her stomach into it.

He’d held her hair back as she continued to dry heave for another few minutes and then found her tome paper towels and a bottle of water on the glove compartment of the car to clean herself up with. He wanted to kill Edward for whatever he’d done. She was still alarmingly pale and shaking as he led her to the car when she was finished. He knew he couldn’t just take them home, Edward was a ballsy old bastard, he’d have the nerve top show up there. But he knew he’d never dare show up at his place so he took them there.
“Uncle Jason you got to see my new game.” Stone called excitedly as he stepped out of the elevator. “Hey Justin.” he grinned spotting his friend.
“Why don’t you show Justin your new game.” Jason said watching Elizabeth carefully she’d been in a daze the entire car ride. “I think your mom needs to lie down for a little while.”
“Ok.” Justin said assured that his dad would take care of her as he took off with his friend.
“Can I get you something to drink?” Jason asked concerned as she took a seat on his worn leather sofa. “I have...beer and water.”
“Waters good.” Elizabeth said quietly as he rushed to get her some.
“Here.” he said placing the glass in her hands as he returned. “I’m sorry about all this.”
“Why?” she asked confused. “It wasn’t your fault.”
“But he’s my...I should have warned you.”
“You did.” She cut him off. “You told me about your family.”
“What did he say?” He asked concerned.
“It doesn’t matter.” She replied standing. “Can I use your bathroom?”
“Sure.” He nodded. “Down the hall, second door.” He pointed. He waited till he heard the water running before stepping outside into the hallway. “What happened.” He demanded.
“He stopped them, when Miss Webber realized who he was she sent Justin over to me and they started fighting. I didn’t catch all of it. From what I gathered he tried to buy her and it didn’t work. I heard her tell him that she’d left it up to you how involved the Q’s would be so he should take it up with you. That pissed him off and he said something about a lawyer I think. She got real mad after that.” Francis explained. “Took exception to him calling Justin boy too.”
“I caught that part.” Jason nodded furiously. “I’m going to kill the Son of a Bitch.”
“Should I have stepped in?” Francis asked unsurely. “I mean you said not to unless it was business, I wasn’t sure that’s why I called and..”
“You did good.” Jason sighed. “Hopefully there wont be a next time.”
“With Edward?” Johnny snorted from his post across the hall.
“I’ll take care of it.” Jason said coldly walking back into his penthouse. He knew what he had to do he just needed to talk to Elizabeth first make sure He knew everything. He waited patiently for her to return. She looked better, calmer. She’d finally stopped shaking for which he was relived.
“Elizabeth, what did he say to you.” He asked.
“It doesn’t matter.” She began.
“It matters to me.” Jason cut her off. “Please.”
“He just sort of walked up to us.” She sighed. “Introduced himself as Justin’s great grandfather. I had no idea who he was at first then he just stood there holding out his hand...Edward Quartermain.” She snorted. “I should have expected it, I mean what I heard from you...even Emily warned me. I had no idea what he was going to say and I definitely didn’t want Justin to hear it so I sent him over to Francis.” She said sinking onto the sofa next to him. “I don’t know how but he knew things about me, my relationship with my family...He kept going on and on about how much he could do for Justin. He called Justin a Quartermain....I told him that he wasn’t, never would be and that I left it up to you how involved his family would be in Justin’s life. He didn’t like that.......”
“Did he threaten to take Justin away from you?” Jason asked his fists clenched at his sides.
“Not in so many words.” She said shaking her head. “He said....he said I’d hate to get lawyers involved. I just...I sort of flipped out after that. He kept calling him the child, or boy or....never Justin. It drove me nuts, why couldn’t he just say his name?” She asked as the first tear rolled down her cheek. “I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t shown up.”
“Hey it’s ok.” Jason said pulling her into his arms as she cried. “No one is taking Justin away from you. I swear no one will take your son, not the Quartermains, not me, no one.”
“But he’s not my son, not anymore, he’s our son.” Elizabeth said blinking back her tears. “I’m so grateful that Justin has you. That he finally has the father he deserves. I knew he couldn’t take him...I mean he could try but, I knew you’d never let him. I’d die before I’d let them take Justin from me. But on some level...I just felt eighteen again, like......”
“When I threatened you.” Jason said painfully.
“That wasn’t you” She insisted. “You’re a good man Jason, a good father.” She said gently placing her hand on his face. “Maybe I shouldn’t have told you....maybe it was selfish. This is what I wanted, for you t feel guilty, for it to eat at you. I guess I just never realized that if you were still the man that I knew it wouldn’t. Now it kills me to know I did this to you.”
“All you did is be honest with me.” He sighed. “I wish there was some way I could make it better, make up for it.”
“You have, by being there for your son, our son. Justin loves you.” She insisted
“I love him too.”
“I know, I can see it in your eyes.” She smiled. “And the guilt, the guilt I put there for something you had no control over.”
“Just because I don’t remeber.” He began.
“We could spend the rest of our lives arguing over this and never work it out.” She cut him off with a sad smile. “I don’t blame you anymore Jason. Part of me wants to but I can’t. I don’t know if this will help but, in the interest of being honest with you again I think you should know I forgive you.”
“I don’t deserve your forgiveness.” He sighed.
“But you have it anyways.” She replied. “You have to know how hard this is for me so please Jason, please just accept it.”
“Ok.” he nodded.
“I..” she began they both froze as if just then realizing the position they were in he had his arms around her, she was practically in his lap her hand still cupping his face gently. “Jason.”
“Elizabeth.” He replied as their lips met.
