Chapter 1
Dillon straightened up the living room, smoothing out the couch covers and clearing off the coffee table. Georgie had a thing with his living habits. "The next time I come over here and this place still a disaster area, I am going to have to kick your butt, and I mean it buddy", she'd told him. "Yeah but I might like it too much", he told her with a smirk. "Oh don't even get me started, Quartemaine." He heard her knock and went to answer. He opened the door to find her chestnut hair pulled up into a bun with a couple of strands hanging down, shaping her face. "Hey. Come on in." "Ugh…" she sighed as she walked passed him and headed to his kitchen. "I see you cleaned up. Nice, or did you do it two minutes before I walked in the door?" she teased. Dillon hung his head in shame. And then he followed her to the kitchen where he sat on the counter. "Whatcha doin?" he asked, as he took a bite into his apple. "What's movies without popcorn?" she asked as she went to his microwave and set it. "Right," Dillon nodded. "Okay so how was your day? You look beat." "It was all right", she pulled up a chair and sat down in front of him. "I met a guy", she said casually. "Oh really?" Georgie nodded. "Well you know you're not going out with him until I've approve of him. Did you tell him that?" "No, Mac. I didn't tell him that." She joked. "Well you better because this guy isn't gonna be expecting the third degree he's gonna receive from me if you don't warn him." Georgie looked at Dillon, her eyebrows raised. "Oh is that so?" Dillon nodded. "Well what makes you think I'd introduce him to you anyway?" "Because you know better," Dillon smiled. Georgie laughed. "You're such a dork." "I'll take that as a compliment." Dillon smiled. Georgie couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah you would. But really I don't think anything will come of it, besides he's probably not interested in dating me." "There you go again with the negativity." "I can't help it all right." "No it's not all right. I don't like seeing you talk this way about yourself." "Ok, ok fine." "That's better," Dillon smiled. "No, but lets be serious for a minute here, Dillon. Why would this guy even be interested in me? I mean, you're a guy, right?" "Uh, yeah last time I checked." Dillon joked Georgie laughed. "Dillon I'm serious." "Ok, ok. Georgie, you are my best friend and I have known you for the longest time and let me tell you if any guy doesn't see what a great person you are, then I don't know if I'd want you with such a loser." Georgie sat there and smiled at Dillon. "You are the best you know that?" Dillon smiled back. "Well hey ya know." Georgie laughed. "Well if he does ask me out, you'll be the first to know." She swung her leg over the chair and went for the popcorn. "Oh I smell it", he announced hopping off of the counter. And then he proceeded to dig his hand inside the bag before Georgie had the chance to get it in the bowl. "Hey buddy." "Give me a break. Popcorn rocks!" he said with a mouthful. "You can thank me later." "Thank you", he mumbled, following her into the living room. Georgie, with the bowl of popcorn in her hands, headed for the couch and sat down; while Dillon went to TV. "Put in 'Armageddon'" Georgie said. "Ben Affleck is so hot." "There is no way I'm gonna watch a movie about a meteor heading to destroy the earth." "Oh just shut up and put it in the VCR would ya?" Georgie ordered. "Noway" Dillon said. "Quartermaine, you said it was my night to pick the movie and I want to watch that now put it in." Dillon looked at her with his eyebrows raised. "Now I'm definitely not putting it in. We can watch 'Nightmare On Elm Street'" He said grabbing the video. "Nu-uh no way I'm not watching that" Georgie said as she stood up and headed towards Dillon. "You are now," Dillon said taking the tape out of the box. Just then Georgie jumped onto his back. "Hey!" Dillon said dropping the tape on top of the VCR and tried to get Georgie off his back. Georgie had her legs locked around Dillon's waist while her arms were around his neck. "Now listen here, you little ass", she squeezed the tip of his ear just a bit, enough to let him know she was serious. "I am not going to go home tonight and scream my head off for hours on end because my dumbass friend made me watch 'Nightmare On Elm Street'. No freaking way." "Ahhh ahh, okay okay, I get it. Now let go of the ear would you?" "Not until you agree to watch my husband." "Your husband? Come off it. You could do so much better than Ben." "No, Ben is my husband. You walked me down the aisle and gave me away and then you proceeded to stick your tongue out at me during my vows and since Ben didn't think I was mature enough for his bride, he left me at the altar…" "Another one of those dreams again, huh?" "Yup", she admitted, still on his back, her fingers threatening to pinch if he didn't do what she said. "How many times do I have to tell you, don't eat chocolate before you go to bed, that always happens but do you listen to me, no." "Just shut up and put Ben in before I really pinch." "Okay, okay. Man, remind me never to piss you off", he told her as she climbed off his back and he rubbed his ear. "Put it in." "Okay okay, have a cow why don't ya?" "Thank you. You drive a hard bargain." "Yeah, yeah. I lost to a chick", he said coming over and sitting next to her on the couch, the bowl of popcorn on a pillow between them across their legs. "Some bargain." The lights were on low and they were munching on the popcorn when her man came onto the screen. "Oh my God, there he is. Ahh!" "Oh come on, don't freak out on me. He's not even that hot." "Are your pants on too tight, cutting the oxygen off to your brain cells? That man is fine." "He's not all that", her told her, taking some popcorn. "Yeah, sure. And if I told you that Pamela Anderson wasn't all that, you'd laugh in my face." "Actually, she's not. She's too fake." "Ohh Ohh, shhh. He is going to speak." "Oh God", Dillon mumbled.
~*~2 HOURS LATER~*~ Georgie sat cross-legged on the couch with tissue in her hands as she watched the movie.
"Daddy" "Hi Gracie. Hi honey. Grace, I know I promised you I was coming home." "I…I don't understand." "Looks like I'm gonna have to break that promise"
Dillon looked over at Georgie who now had tears flowing freely down her face with the tissue in her hand and covering her mouth.
"I'm so scared. I'm so scared." "I know it baby. But there won't be anything to be scared of soon. Gracie, I want you know that AJ saved us. He did."
"Oh my God…" Georgie said as she wiped some tears away with the tissue. "Please tell me you're not serious." Dillon said Georgie looked over at Dillon and hit him on the shoulder. "Shut up" "Hey!" Dillon said. "You men will never understand. I guess it's a father/daughter thing." Georgie said as she turned her attention back to the movie just to see Bruce Willis disappear from the screen Liv Tyler was looking at.
"No daddy, no. No"
"No no!!! Come back!" Georgie found herself screaming at Bruce Willis. "Oh my….This is sickening", he muttered. "You just hush up. I'm having a moment!" "'A moment?' You're having 'a moment?' Come on, you've seen this movie a hundred times and you really think it's going to end any differently if you yell at the screen." "You never know, buddy. Some people listen better than you do." She stuck her tongue out at him. You are such a nerd", he told her.
"Okay, let's see what else you've got, slick…" she said as she stood and went through his DVD's. She sat Indian style on the floor and he went over to her. "You are not going to rip my ear off again are you?" "Of course not, I'll just bite it off if you don't keep your 'we can watch whatever you want' promise", she warned him. "You suck." "I know." "Just pick out a good one this time; one that won't cause me to have to run out and buy more Kleenex in the morning." "Hey, at least I didn't use your sleeve." "Good point." "Ahh, got it. 'When Harry Met Sally.' Perfect." "Oh you're not serious." "Come on. Don't you remember that big scene at the diner?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. "Put it in", he quickly told her.
"Now that was called a movie. I still can't get over that diner…Georgie…" He looked down and saw her sleeping. She'd leaned over onto his shoulder partway through the movie but he hadn't thought anything of it, he'd just put his arm around her shoulder. He quietly turned off the TV with the remote and maneuvered himself off the couch. And then he scooped her up easily into his arms and carried her to his room. Pulling back the covers, he lay her down in the sheets. Her arm carelessly dropped over her stomach. He went over to the other side of the bed and grabbed a pillow for himself and then he went to the closet for a blanket. After shutting out the nightlight, he left the door open and headed for the couch.

Chapter 2
~*~THE NEXT MORNING~*~ Georgie woke up to the smell of bacon. She opened her eyes and stretched, glancing around at her surroundings not realizing at first where she was. It took her a few minutes to realize that she was in Dillon's room. She threw back the covers and headed toward the kitchen. She saw Dillon cooking on the stove. "Do my eyes deceive me?" Dillon jumped at the sound of Georgie's voice. He turned around and saw her leaning against the wall with her arms crossed across her chest and a smile on her face. "What the…oh hey," Dillon said when he saw her. "Hi," Georgie said walking into the kitchen and sitting down at the table as she watched him cook. "You hungry," Dillon asked turning his attention back to the stove. "Yeah," Georgie said. "Well good because you're just in time." Dillon said as he turned off the stove. He made Georgie and himself a plate. He brought it, along with Georgie's, over to the table, setting Georgie's in front of her and sitting down in the seat next to her. "Enjoy" "Mmm…it smells good" Georgie said. Dillon took some of the scrambled egg and put it into his mouth. "Damn, I'm good." Georgie tasted the eggs as well. "Eh, they're ok." Dillon gave her a look like "very funny". "So what do you want to do today?" Dillon asked. "Uh, I don't know. It's Saturday you wanna go out somewhere tonight?" "Yeah that could be cool. Or we could watch movies again" "Dillon, that's all we ever do. Its college shouldn't we go out and live the college life?" "All right fine. You wanna go out we'll go out." "Thanks! Oh and hey maybe I'll see that guy I was telling you about." "Good then I can tell him all about you." "Don't you dare," Georgie said "What? You don't trust me?" Dillon said, feigning shock "When it comes to guys that I like…I tend to be a little hesitant to do so." "Why's that?" "Uh…let me see…maybe because you give every guy that I find interesting the third degree like you were my brother or something." "Well I'm not gonna let just anyone take out my best friend. And besides you're kinda like a sister to me anyway. So it's my "brotherly duty" to scope these guys out." Georgie couldn't help but laugh.
"Okay, hun. I'm going to walk you home", he told her, putting on his jacket. "Uh…no. I am a big girl. You don't need to walk me home." "Shut up. I'm walking you home. And then I'll sit on your couch and you get dressed and then we'll go out." "You just have this whole day planned out don't you? And don't forget, I have to shower. I might see him." "Oh, brother. Fine. Don't take all day though. And if we do see him and you take off, ditching me for tonight, your ass is grass." "Yes, sir." He led her out and as they walked the streets, they walked side by side, laughing over the craziest things. "Hey bend over", she instructed. "Excuse me?" "Bend over." "Um…what for?" "I want a piggy." "No…" "Please?" she said, sticking out her bottom lip. She knew he wouldn't stand a chance at resisting the lip. "You suck. Hop on", he instructed. "Hehe. You rock!" she kissed him on the cheek and then when he knelt down, she climbed on and he helped her up further. "Hehe. This is fun!" "Yeah, yeah." He'd carried her a few blocks and now they were on campus, on the small park. She began to tossle his hair with her free arm and then giggled. "Jones, when you get off my back you better run like hell because…" She tossled it again which caused him to trip over a tree branch. His knees buckled and within seconds, they both landed on the ground with a thump. They lay side by side in the grass. Georgie thought she'd never laughed so hard. "Oh my…are you all right Georgie?" he asked, looking over toward her. "Yes, I am so all right. That was such a gag, Dillon. Really, priceless." "Well I'm glad someone enjoyed it", he teased as he began to tickle her sides. And then they heard a clearing of the throat and Georgie looked over and immediately, she stood up, brushing off the leaves from her body. "Jordan…" A figure stepped out of the shadows and revealed himself to Dillon. "Hey Georgie", he looked a bit nervous as his hands fumbled with his pockets. "How are you?" "I'm good. And how are you?" "Same, good. And uh…" he nodded his head to Dillon. "Who is this?" Dillon stepped up, preparing to take action if necessary. "Jordan, this is Dillon. Dillon, Jordan." "Hey man", said Jordan, extending his hand. Dillon gave him a firm shake, letting him know that he wasn't letting his guard down but he also didn't want to offend the guy. Georgie would never forgive him. "He's like my brother." "Oh, so that must also mean you're very protective too. I get that. But really, I'm no creep off the streets. You can trust me." "Yeah, I do", as of right now, he finished to himself. "Just remember, her father is a cop." "Dillon!" she elbowed him. "What? I am just warning the guy. Remember when he thought I was trying to date you? I thought he was going to hunt me down with a baseball bat." "Um…Dillon. You are so not helping." "Right. Okay, I'm sorry. Well I am going to um…step over here to talk to my um…tree and yeah. Nice to meet you Jordan." Georgie knew she was toast if she broke her promise to Dillon and although she did like Jordan, she wanted to be with Dillon that night. "I was wondering if um…maybe you'd like to hang out tonight? You could come over to my place?" "I can't." "Why not?" he asked as he shoved his hands in his pockets. "Because. I just can't. Not tonight." "Okay, I get that. Maybe another night then." "Yes, another night." "Okay, I'll see you around, Georgie." "See you." Dillon watched as Jordan walked away from Georgie. His eyes stayed on Jordan as he walked away. "Ok, are you ready?" Georgie asked, approaching Dillon. Dillon's eyes slowly drifted to Georgie's. "Huh? Oh yeah, let's go" They started to continue their walk through the quad towards Georgie's dorm. "So what did he have to say?" Dillon asked starting conversation. "Oh he just wanted to do something with me tonight." Georgie said, casually. "Really? And what did you say?" "What do you think I said? I told him hell yeah" Dillon looked at Georgie shocked. "Uh, excuse me?" Georgie looked at Dillon and couldn't help but laugh. "Oh my God you are so freaking gullible! I told him I couldn't tonight because I already had plans." "Yeah that's what I thought" "Oh please! I so could've gone with him if I wanted to. But I had already promised you and you know I don't like to break my promises, even for a butthead like you." Georgie joked. "Oh a butthead huh," Dillon questioned, his eyebrows raised in curiosity. "Mmm-hmm," Georgie nodded. Dillon just nodded and continued to walk on. He waited til Georgie was a few feet ahead of him before he grabbed quickly went in front of her and picked her up, throwing her over his shoulder. "AAHH!" Georgie screamed. "Dillon put me down!" She cried kicking her legs and hitting his back with her hands. "Not until you admit that I'm coolest person ever and take back your butthead comment" "Never!" Georgie said. "Well in that case…" Dillon said as he took one hand, while leaving the other one holding onto her legs, and started tickling one of her sides. "DILLON STOP IT!!!!" Georgie cried, laughing. "Admit it!" Dillon said continuing to tickle her. "Dillon I mean it! Stop it" Georgie laughed "I will when you say it." Dillon said. "Fine you're not a butthead, all right?" Georgie cried. "Better, now what am I?" Dillon said, still tickling her. All blood was rushing to Georgie's face, causing it to be beat red. "You're dead when I get down" "Wrong answer" Dillon said still tickling mercilessly. "Aah!!" Georgie screamed. "Fine you're the coolest person! Now put me down!!" Dillon had a huge smirk on his face. "That's better." With that he put Georgie back down on her feet. She fixed her hair and tried to catch her breath. "I'm gonna kill you" Georgie said "Yeah ok whatever you say" Dillon said giving her a look. Georgie just turned and started to head back to the dorm. Dillon hesitated for a few seconds before following. As they neared the dorm Georgie was watching Dillon's every move out of the corner of her eye.
Georgie unlocked the door and stepped inside her dorm. Dillon followed closely behind and headed straight for her kitchen. "Don't take all day", he told her. "You don't have any reason to complain. You're obviously not going to go hungry waiting for me", she told him as he began to go through her refrigerator. Georgie went for a drink of water and when she was getting out the ice, a brilliant thought came to mind. As Dillon was hunched over the fridge, Georgie quietly stepped up behind him and shoved a couple ice cubes down his back. Georgie was giggling when he slowly turned around. "I am going to kick your…" She took off running and he ran after her. George tripped over her mat in the doorway and landed on her stomach. "Hey are you okay?" he asked concerned. "I'm fine!" she squealed. Laughing, she was still trying to get away from this crazy person. And then he grabbed her leg but she managed to pull herself up. She ran to the other side of the room where she was backed up against the wall, so when he got close enough to touch her, he began tickling her. And she had nowhere to go. "Dillon! Stop! Now!" "No. You sent ice cubes down my back. Ice cubes! So you're not getting out of this one easy." "Dillon!" she squealed. "Dillon calm down, stop! Think rationally", she tried to butter him up. "I mean, the longer you tickle me, the longer I am going to take to get ready…and the longer you're stuck with me." "Eh, you bring up a good point. Fine." He let go of her so she was free. But instead of being grateful, she stuck her tongue out at him. He began to go after her again but she had already taken off and flew into the bathroom. "That crazy girl", he muttered, laughing.
Dillon sat on her couch flipping through the channels on the TV while he waited for Georgie to get dressed. "Georgie are you ready yet?" Dillon called "Just a few more minutes!" Georgie called from her room. "Women" Dillon muttered to himself as he turned his attention back to the TV. Just then Georgie's phone rang. Dillon glanced from Georgie's bedroom door to the ringing phone. He got up and walked over to the phone, picking it up. "Hello?" He said into the phone. There was no response. "Hello?" Dillon repeated. The person on the other end didn't say anything but Dillon could hear breathing and knew someone was on the line. "I know your there I can hear you breathing" Dillon said into the phone. Just then the phone clicked and a dial tone came on. Dillon took the phone away from his ear, glancing at it confused before putting it back on the cradle. "That was weird," he said to himself. "All right I'm ready, let's go" Georgie said walking into the room dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a pale blue t-shirt that said "princess" on it. "Oh, I think you should change shirts, G." "Now why would I want to do that?" "Because you are sure as hell no 'princess'." "You hush, butt munch." "Do a girl a favor and what do you get in return? Natta."

Chapter 3
"I cannot believe that you are dragging me to the mall…" he muttered, as she pushed him from behind, forcing him on the escalator. "You're doing me a favor, think of it that way. I need something to wear tonight and I need your opinion. Now shut up and get on the escalator." She pushed him a little harder. "Getting a little frisky, huh?" "Ugh, you wish", she said, coming around to the side of him. "Well it does make sense, Jones. You pushing me from behind to get me on the escalator, when you could have just as easily beaten the crap out of me until I gave in." "Grrr. You are so arrogant", she told him, hopping on the first step. Dillon stood on the step behind her and whispered in her ear. "Come on, Georgie. I know you want me. You can admit it. I want you too. We can no longer suppress our urges." Georgie started cracking up. She didn't think she'd ever laughed so hard. "You are such a nerd! 'Suppressing urges?' What kind of porno have you been reading?" Dillon hung his head. He was laughing so hard, he couldn't help it. "I don't know. I just thought it was funny." "Come on, my sexy little freak", she told him. Dillon followed her off the escalator and into the store she wanted. After picking up about 10 outfits, she asked for a room. "You sit there. And don't move." "Yes, ma'am", he bowed to her. Georgie quickly looked around to be sure no one was looking. "You freak! Don't embarrass me like that!" "Yeah, yeah. Just try the stuff on so we can get out of here." "Bite me," Georgie said as she started for the fitting room. "Don't mind if I do," Dillon said starting toward Georgie. "Dillon!" Georgie yelped jumping into the room and shutting the door before Dillon could grab her. "Next time rephrase your statement Jones or else…" Dillon warned "You're such a dumbass…now shut up and sit down" Dillon sat down and waited for Georgie to try on the clothes. "Ok Dillon here is the first one and I want your honest opinion." "All right come on out already" Dillon said. Georgie stepped out of the fitting room dressed in a really short leather mini skirt and a black leather halter top. As soon as Dillon saw her his eyes grew wide with shock. "Well what do you think?" Georgie asked doing a spin so he could get the full effect. "Oh hell no!" Dillon said, and he immediately took off his flannel and stood. "I think you need to cover yourself, that's what I think." He held his flannel up against her. "What?! I thought it was sexy." "Too sexy. No way in hell are you going out in public in that." "You seriously suck!" "Anything is better than that, Jones. Please humor me, and get that thing off." "You are so no fun", she told him, heading back into the dressing room. Dillon sat back down. He was going to shoot whoever designed that outfit. A couple minutes later, she hollered for him. "Okay so um…really, if I come out and you tell me 'no way in hell' again, I am going to knock you on your butt. Because this is seriously cute!" "Yeah, yeah. Show me what you've got." She was a little shy this time as she poked her head out first, and then her whole self. "Okay, what do you think?" she asked, stepping out. She wore a black skirt that went half-way down to her kneecaps, along with a light green spaghetti-string top. Dillon's mouth watered a bit, but he was sure it was from the last outfit, and now this one. "You seriously can't tell me that that's much better. It's like only a half an inch longer than the last one!" "Yeah, and a half an inch longer is all you're gonna get, buddy. Because I like this one." "Seriously, no. I mean, at least change the top. You could put that on Kristina's Barbie doll." "You know you really are being a butt munch!" Georgie said. "Maybe I should get a second opinion," Georgie said looking around the store for another guy. "And who exactly is gonna do that?" Dillon asked "Ah ha there's a guy over there maybe I'll just go ask him" Georgie said starting toward the guy "Nu-uh I don't think so" Dillon said grabbing her arm. "Why what's the matter?" Georgie laughed. "Afraid some guy is gonna tell me I look hot?" "Exactly now get in there and change that top" Dillon said. "God you annoy me!" Georgie said before turning and going back into the room. "I love you too" Dillon said as she sat back down in the chair and waited for her to come back out in another outfit" "Ok this one is the one and I don't want any arguments from you, you hear me?" Georgie said from the fitting room. "Just come out here and show me already" Georgie came out dressed in a jean skirt that came right above her knees and a pink halter top that showed off her midriff. "Nope, nuh uh. Take it off." "Grrr!" she stomped her foot and her hands flew to her hips. And then both her and Dillon looked around the store to see everyone staring. "She forgot to take her vitamins this morning. So she's a little…out there", Dillon told them. And when no one bothered to look away, Georgie went off. "What are you looking at? There's nothing more to see here. Now go…go back to what you were doing." And one by one, everyone turned their attention to the next style. "You suck!" she whispered at him. "You seriously suck. I don't care what you say, this is the one. This is so 'it'." With that, she turned to go back in the dressing room. "Georgie, that top is way too short." "I can't hear you!" she sang. Moments later, she stepped out in her regular clothing with what she wanted in her hand. "Oh hey, look! Look at that adorable hat over there. Can you go check the price for me?" Dillon looked her up and down like she had just lost it. "Excuse me?" "Please?" "No way." "Please, Babycakes?" "Don't call me that. There are actually some pretty hot chicks in this store." "Oh you haven't seen nothing yet. If you don't go look at that price, I am going to embarrass you so bad it would be like you were in your underwear." Dillon pointed a finger at her as he headed off in the other direction. Georgie quickly went to the cashier. "Would that be all for ya?" "Yes, please." "Did you find everything okay?" "Yes, thank you. Except for the occasional mishap I'd like to call a guy." The woman curved her eyebrows in question. "Never mind." The woman nodded and put Georgie's jean skirt, pink halter-top, black leather skirt, and halter into the sack. "That would be $88.65, please." Dillon stepped up beside her. "I don't know what hat you were talking about but all those over there were the most ugliest things I've ever seen…" And then he realized that the woman was standing there and hurried to correct himself. "And you sell them, don't you. Yeah, okay I am going to shut up. Georgie's let's go." Georgie grabbed the sack, being sure to close it up. "Uh, have a good day!" Georgie was cracking up. "Dillon that was so priceless. If you could have seen your face…" "Yeah, yeah. I'm a dumbass, I admit it. Now shut up and move."
Georgie was getting ready to go out with Dillon when her phone rang. She picked up the receiver, "hello?" "You ready yet Jones?" Dillon asked on the other end. "Hey butt munch, yeah just about. Leave your place in like 5 minutes and by the time you get here I should be all ready to go." "You got it" Dillon said. "Great, see ya when ya get here" "Yup, bye" "Bye" Georgie said hanging up the phone and going to the mirror and put the finishing touches on her makeup. She looked at the overall result in a long mirror that was on the back of her door. "Perfect." About 10 minutes later, there was a knock at Georgie's door. "I'm comin" She called as she grabbed her purse and headed for the door. She opened the door and there was Dillon on the other side who's eyes grew big when he saw what she had on…the leather outfit from earlier. "No way, Jones. Get your ass back in there and change." "Hell no, see ya!" "Hey!" he called as she ducked beneath his arm and ran to the elevator. She was laughing so hard that she could barely keep up a decent pace, but she ran downstairs and to his car, which she found locked. "What the hell? Why did you lock your car? What, you don't trust me now or something?" she asked a tired Dillon, for he had ran the stairs when she closed the elevator before he could get there. "No I don't trust you. I can't believe you bought that. So that's why you had me look at those ugly things." "No shit, Sherlock. You're a thinker. Now unlock the door." "No, not until you change." "Dillon, I am not changing. Now unlock the door." Dillon twirled the key around his finger as he walked over to his side. "Dillon, please." "No, get back in there and change", he told her as he unlocked his door and stepped on the footing, hunching over the roof of the car. "Please, Dillon. Give me a break, okay. I'm with you, it's not like anyone is going to try anything with you there. As if you'd let them." "So? Just because I'm not letting any guy near you as long as you're with me, doesn't mean you have to show it off." "Dillon! Please, let me be sexy for one night?" "Georgie, you're sexy every night. You don't have to wear those outfits to be sexy. You don't need them." "Okay, now I know that you're just trying to butter me up so I'll go change." "You caught me. Now please, get out of that outfit?" "For the last time, no. Just open the damn door." Dillon mumbled about a million words in a 2 second period under his breath as he got in the car and unlocked her door. "What was that you were saying?" she asked as she climbed in. "Nothing, oh nothing." "Right, and you're not a loser either." "Oh Jones, I'm going to get you for saying that."

Chapter 4
Dillon and Georgie walked into the tiny club. The lights were down low and there was a bar, along with a wood dance floor to the side. "Come on!" Georgie yelled over the music, taking his hand in hers and leading him to the dance floor. They'd been dancing for a few when Georgie needed a drink. "I'll be right back, water!" "No no, I'll go with you", he told her. They went to the bar and while Georgie leaned against the bar, Dillon went for their drinks. She watched all the dancers and then her eyes wandered to a guy about Dillon's age who wasn't taking his eyes off of her. Don't come over here, don't come over here, she thought. The guy smiled and then he began to walk over. Damn! Georgie turned around, facing the bar, hoping the guy would take the hint. But he just tapped on Georgie's shoulder. Taking a deep breath, she turned around. "Hey hot stuff", the guy said. Georgie noticed that his breath reeked of alcohol and his teeth were yellow. "Um…" "If I told you that you had a great body, would you hold it against me?" he asked in a low voice. He began to get a little closer when she coughed from his breath. "No", she simply stated. "Well", he said, stepping a bit closer. "May I have the directions to your heart?" "Yes, you make a left at 'Hell No' Ave. and keep going straight 'til you get to 'F.U.' Blvd." "Well that was a little rude." "It was necessary", she replied. "Come on, just one dance." And then from behind, she saw Dillon walking up to her with two waters. He raised his eyebrows in question. And Georgie raised hers, nodding her head enthusiastically. Help me, she mouthed. "Come on, babe. One dance, that's all I ask." Dillon stepped up beside her, taking her about the waist. "Hey baby", he kissed her forehead. "Is this gentleman bothering you?" "Uh…you two, you're together?" "Of course", Dillon replied. "Nice meeting you both. See ya." And the guy stumbled away, leaving Georgie turned into Dillon's chest, laughing. "I swear Jones, I leave you alone for 5 seconds and look who you end up talking to." Georgie looked up at Dillon with a shocked expression on her face. "Uh, excuse me?" "Face it Jones, you really suck when it comes to saving yourself from a bad situation. If I weren't here what would you have done? It didn't look like that guy was gonna take no for an answer anytime soon." Dillon pointed out. "I could've handled it if I had to, but I don't have to worry about things like that because I have you to get me out of those situations." Georgie smiled as she wrapped her arms around one of his and looked up at him with a smile. "Ain't that the truth" Dillon smiled. "Did you see how fast he left when you walked up?" Georgie laughed. Dillon laughed. "Yeah he probably realized that I could do some major damage if he didn't leave right then." "Ah, yes my hero!" Georgie said as she reached up and gave Dillon a hug. "Yeah and don't you forget it." Dillon said as he hugged her back. Georgie pulled back out of Dillon's arms, reaching for her glass of water that Dillon brought her and took a drink. Just then a familiar song came over the room and Georgie suddenly started dancing to the music. "Come on let's go dance!" Georgie said as she set her glass down and took Dillon's hand in hers heading for the dance floor pulling him with her. "The Way you Make me Feel", by Michael Jackson filled the speakers as Dillon watched Georgie standing in front of him, busting a move. "Come on, Quartemaine!" she said over the music. "Dance with me!" she took his arms and started moving them about. "You seriously have to lighten up!" Dillon found himself laughing as he took her hands and they started moving their feet and going down, twisting and laughing. "Oh crap", Georgie murmured. "What is it, babe?" "Um…look. Ass alert." Dillon turned to see the drunk from earlier come up to them. "Mind if I cut in?" "Yeah, I do mind. I think you've had a little too much to drink, man. You need to sit this one out." "You don't tell me when I've had too much to drink. Now beat it." Suddenly, he took Georgie away, moving with her in a way that Dillon knew Georgie wasn't comfortable with. The guy was trying to get way too close to her. And Dillon wanted to punch his lights out. He went to him and tapped him on the shoulder. "Ah, man. Now what do you want?" "I thought you should know that your mom is here. She's looking for you." "Right, as if my mom would be here", he shook his head and turned his attention back to Georgie, getting ready to take her in his arms again. Dillon went up to the guy and placed his hand on his shoulder. "Listen man, I was hoping you'd be sober enough to realize that was a hint to get out of here but I guess not." And then he pulled him back away from Georgie and stepped in front of her. Dillon took her in his arms and hugged her. "Go with me on this", he whispered in her ear. And then he cupped her face in his palms, and slowly leaned in. Georgie felt Dillon's lips on hers. And as he captured her lower lip, she went along completely, wrapping her arms about his neck. And then Dillon pulled away and turned toward the drunk. "Like I said man, leave my girl alone or you're gonna deal with me" "All right, all right." The guy turned and stumbled away. "Thank you so much, Dillon. You seriously rock." "Ahh, I try." Georgie smiled, shaking her head. And when a slow one came on, she wrapped her arms around his neck and held him close as he swayed with her to the music.
Georgie was sitting at a table while she waited for Dillon to go get her a refill on her drink. She sat there looking around at all the people in the room and a guy a couple feet away caught her eye. Their eyes met and a smiled curled on Georgie's lips when she realized he was smiling at her. This guy was unlike the other guy, this guy was tall, had blondish brownish hair and had an amazing smile. The guy took Georgie's smile as an invitation as he started toward the table. "Hey there," He smiled. "Hi." Georgie said "My name is Mark." He said holding out his hand. "Georgie," Georgie said, shaking his hand. "Well it's nice to meet you Georgie," Mark said "You too." "So uh are you here with anyone?" Georgie nodded." Yeah a friend." Mark smiled. "Ah, would you friend mind if I asked you to dance?" Georgie smiled. "I don't think he would." "Well in that case, would you like to dance?" "Sure" Georgie smiled as she stood up and put her hand in his after he offered it to her. Mark took her hand and started toward the dance floor. As they were walking to the dance floor, she saw Dillon who looked at her with a questionable look on his face. Georgie gave him a look like it was cool. He smiled and nodded as he watched her walk out to the dance floor with the guy.
Georgie went back to their table and sat down beside Dillon. "So what did you think of him?" "Mark? He's cool." "You didn't exchange numbers or anything?" "No, sorry bud. You're not going to be beating him up. He was a perfect gentleman." "I'm glad." "Really? You're not going to go all protective on me?" "No, like you said he was a gentleman. All I want is for you to be happy, Georgie. Now if a guy decides not to be a gentleman, I'll set his ass straight. That's what I'm here for." "I love you so much, Dillon." He blushed. "Thanks. You're not so bad yourself. Let's go dance."
~2 hours later~ Dillon agreed to let Georgie drink a bit, but he immediately regretted it, for he let her drink a little too much. Dillon knew that nothing would happen with him there, but still. He didn't like what he saw. "Dillon, Dillon. Tell me this. Tell me why I feel really…floaty?" He led her to a chair for she got dizzy on the dance floor. "You're drunk, honey." "But no Dillon, this isn't drunk. I feel…floopy. Not drunk. There's a difference. Hey, hey do you think we'll see the butterflies?" "Um, Georgie. We haven't collected butterflies since we were kids.' "But, but", she looked hurt. "Georgie, we have to go." "No!" she stood, felt a little dizzy and stopped for a second to catch her breath. And when she did, she clinked her glass with a fork. "Attention, everyone. I have a little show I'd like to do for you. If you would please pay attention…" She took out the chair and stepped one foot on it and then the other. "Georgie, what are you…?" Suddenly Georgie was standing on the table, dancing, moving to the beat. Dillon hated the way the guys were cheering her on. And he stood there next to the table just in case she would fall. He let her get it out of her system until her fingers went to the edge of her top and began to pull it off. "No!" Dillon climbed the same chair she did and pulled her top back down, for it had gone a bit up her stomach. "Dillon, I don't…feel too…" her head relaxed against his chest. "Come on babe. Let's go." He got down, and took her hands, helping her down next to him. His arm went about her waist to support her. "What are you all looking at? Get back to your business", he told everyone. Dillon led her to the doorway and draped her coat across her shoulders. "But Dillon", she began, leaning against Dillon. "You're going to be okay, let's go…" "No Dillon, I…I think I'm going to…" Dillon immediately opened the door and allowed her to stick her head out into the night. He held her hair back as everything came back up. "Ugh…" Georgie groaned. "Ooh wow," Dillon said as he glanced down at the pile on the ground. "Better?" "Dillon I don't feel so well." Georgie said putting her hand to her forehead and standing up. "I know babe, I'm gonna take you back my place and you can crash there, ok?" Georgie just nodded. "Come on then," He said as he put Georgie's arm around his neck and started toward the car. Carefully he put her in the car, fastening her seatbelt as he head fell to the side on the seat. He shut the door and walked to his side. After he got in he saw Georgie's head resting against the cool window. "You ok?" Dillon questioned. "Air. Need fresh air." Georgie said. "Ok, move to the side a little and I'll roll down the window" Georgie did so and Dillon rolled down the window so Georgie could stick her head out into the cool night. Dillon drove along as the cool wind hit Georgie's face. Within minutes, they arrived at Dillon's apartment. He turned off the car and walked over to Georgie's door and opened it. He unfastened Georgie's, who was now asleep, seatbelt. "Georgie?" He said softly trying to wake her up. "Georgie wake up." "Mmm…" Georgie moaned softly lost in sleep. Dillon took this as his hint that getting her up was gonna be nearly impossible. So he swung her legs around so they fell outside the car and he carefully maneuvered her out of the car into a standing position. He shut her door and swept her up in his arms and carried her up the steps that led into his apartment building. When he got to his door he carefully set her feet down while he reached in his jean pockets searching for his key. When he found it, he fumbled with getting the key into the door. When he finally managed to get it opened he picked her up again in his arms and carried her though the threshold, throwing his keys on the table right by the door; while he kicked the door shut with his foot. Heading toward his bedroom, he laid her down on the bed. He took off her shoes and maneuvered her so that he could get her under the covers. Once he did he pulled them right up under her chin. He moved a strand of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear and kissed her on the forehead. "Night sweetie" he whispered and turned to walk away. "Mmm…Dillon" Georgie said in a soft voice. "Yeah?" Dillon asked turning around "Lay with me?" Georgie asked Dillon pulled off his jacket and at her request, he crawled up the bed and fell to rest at her side. She lay her head on his chest and then got dizzy and held her head. "Oh, Dillon." "Shh, it's okay. Just go to sleep." "Okay but tell me one thing, I'm going to have a hangover in the morning aren't I?" "You're going to have one hell of a hangover in the morning." "Okay, just checking. Mmm…" she clutched his shirt. "You smell good." "Um…thanks?" "Yeah, that's new isn't it? I don't remember ever smelling that on you." "Yes, it's new. Now don't worry about that, just get some rest." "Okay, goodnight Dillon. Love you", she reached up and kissed his cheek. "Night, sweetie."

Chapter 5
Dillon woke around 8:00 and threw her clothes in the washer. He had to run out and when she still wasn't up when he arrived back, he went in to check on her, for it was noon. He opened the door and looked in as she was curled up on her side. So he went back to the living room and played some music for a bit. And when it was 3:00, he decided that he had to wake her. He grabbed her some 7up and then he went in and knelt against the bed. "Georgie?" he shook her. "Georgie, come on. You have to wake up." "Mmm", she murmured. "Georgie", he shook her one last time and her eyes slowly opened and accustomed to the light. She turned her head and looked to Dillon. "Hey." "Hey." He moved up to the edge of the bed and sat against the headboard, Georgie's head lay beneath his arm. "Here, drink this. You'll feel better, I promise." She took his advice but began to gulp it. "Hey, hey. Don't drink so fast, you'll feel worse, just drink it slow. That's it." "What sounds good for dinner?" he asked, pushing the hair out of her face. Georgie's eyes got wide. "Oh my God, please don't even mention food. I don't think I could eat a single thing." Dillon couldn't help but laugh. Georgie hit him. "It's not funny. Stop laughing at me" "Ouch. Hey it's not me who decided to get plastered last night." "I was just having a good time, Dillon" Georgie said resting her head on his chest. "Yeah I know you were but you can have a good time without drinking yourself into oblivion." Dillon pointed. "Well thank you for the psycho analysis Dr. Freud." "Anytime. Hey look, I'm gonna go fix you a cup of hot tea. That should help your stomach a little I would think." "Thanks." Georgie said falling back onto the pillow as Dillon got up off the bed.
Georgie walked through campus on Monday morning heading to her first class of the day. "Well hey there dancing queen" Dillon said sneaking up from behind her. Georgie jumped. "Dillon you scared me half to death!" "I am good, aren't I?" Dillon laughed. "Ha ha" Georgie laughed sarcastically. "And I thought we agreed never to mention that dancing incident again" "I don't recall that." Dillon teased. "Yeah well you better recall that or else I'll help you remember." "Well if I remember correctly it was YOU who couldn't remember much after the club." "Yeah and who's fault is that?" "Uh…yours. You were the one who drank all those margaritas." Dillon pointed out. "Yeah but who bought them for me, huh?" Dillon didn't respond. "Exactly," Georgie said. "Well I have to get to film class. We're hanging out again tonight, right?" Dillon asked as he started to walk away. "Yep! I'll call you after I get home from class" Georgie said "Sounds cool! Later!" Dillon said before her turned and walked away. "Bye." Georgie said as he walked away. Georgie continued on and was searching through her bookbag for a pen and wasn't watching where she was going and ended up bumping into someone. "Oh I'm sorry…" Georgie said looking up. "Jordan." "Hey you." He shoved his hands in his pockets. It made her feel good to know that this guy was nervous when he talked to her. "H-How was your weekend?" he stuttered. Georgie immediately hung her head and blushed. "Um, it was okay." Jordan's fingertips pushed her chin upward so that he could look into her eyes. "That's good. I was wondering if maybe you weren't doing anything, maybe you'd like to see a movie with me?" "That sounds wonderful. I'd like that." He smiled and looked down at his feet, and then back up at Georgie. "Great. I'll get back to you on the details." "All right." "Well, hey uh…where's your first class?" "That way", she moved her head to the right. "Well, what a coincidence. Mind if I walk you?" "Of course I don't mind", she said with a smile. Jordan held out his arm and she took it. Jordan and Georgie approached Georgie's classroom. Georgie let go of Jordan's arm and turned to face him, with a smile on her face. "Well thank you for the escort." Georgie smiled "Anytime." Jordan said. "So uh about that invitation earlier." "Yeah?" Georgie nodded. "Well how about we go to the movies tonight?" Jordan asked. "I…I mean if you're free?" Georgie stood there for a second, feeling as if she was doing something already that night but it didn't click, so she just blew it off. "Sure tonight sounds great." "Great. Uh should I pick you up or do you want to meet there?" "Uh well I guess we could meet there. The theater on the square right?" Jordan nodded. "Ok that sounds great." Jordan nodded. "Yeah great. So I'll see you tonight?" Georgie nodded. "Tonight."
Georgie stood in front of her floor length mirror, putting in her earrings. She wore a blue quarter-length shirt with a spaghetti-string beneath it. Looking at the clock, she began to rush again, grabbing her purse and mints, and money. Then she grabbed the pepper spray Dillon had made her keep in her drawer. He'd told her to take it with her whenever she went out for the first time with someone she wasn't familiar with. "Okay, I guess I'm ready." Taking her cell off the charger and also putting that into her purse, she finally realized that she was nervous. Sure, she'd been on dates before. But it had been awhile. And she really liked Jordan. "Stop freaking out, Jones. You can do this", she took deep breaths. As she went to the kitchen table, she ran into the chair, knocking her coffee from earlier on her jacket. "Shit! This figures." And so after throwing that into the washer, she looked around and grabbed Dillon's jacket that he had left there by accident when he dropped her off Saturday night. "This works, comfy too." Putting it on, she realized her hand was shaking and decided to brush it off. Heading for the door, she looked around one more time and headed for the elevator. Georgie headed for the square and looked around for Jordan, but she didn't see him anywhere. "Crap", she looked down at her watch and realized that she was about twenty minutes late. She figured that he probably went home. And suddenly, two hands rested on her shoulder and she jumped. Her hand few to her upper chest as she turned around to see a smiling Jordan. He held a single pink carnation in his hand. "Jordan, I am so sorry I'm late." "It's cool", he smiled. "I'm just glad you showed up." Georgie smiled back. "Is that for me?" "Oh this? Well I was going to give it to the old lady down the street but what the hell", he handed it to her and she laughed. "Here, I have an idea", she pulled back her hair and stuck the flower above her ear. "How's it look?" "Beautiful", he replied. "Shall we?" he held out his arm. "We shall", Georgie said with a smile dancing on her lips.
Dillon sat down on the couch flipping through the channels with the remote continually glancing at his clock. He saw that it was past 7:00 and Georgie has still not arrived or called. "Where is she?" Dillon said to himself. When the clock started rolling around to 7:45 Dillon started to get worried. He picked up the phone and called Georgie's room at the dorm, but all he got was her answering machine. "Hi this is Georgie, sorry I missed your call but if you leave your name and number I'll be sure to get back to you as soon as I can. Bye!" The machine beeped. "Hey Georgie, it's me. I'm just wondering where you are. You were supposed to be here at 7 and it's going on 8. It's not like you to stand me up Jones, give me a call when you get this. Bye" Dillon said hanging up the phone. He set the phone back on the cradle and tried to convince himself that everything was ok. What seemed like almost instantly, 8:30 approached and still no Georgie. "Ok that's it. I'm going over there." Dillon said grabbing his coat and heading out the door. "Something is not right and I'm gonna find out what it is."
Dillon was in her hallway, getting ready to knock on the door when he heard her voice and decided to hide behind the wall at the end of the corner and peak out. He saw her walking with Jordan to her room. "That was a great movie, wasn't it?" she asked as they headed for her door. "Yeah, it was." "What was your favorite part?" she asked, anxious. "Um, honestly I don't really like movies. I just wanted you to go out with me. So all I was concentrating on was you sitting there next to me." Georgie blushed a bit. "Well, thank you. I had a great time." "So did I", he smiled. And then his palm went to the small of her back behind her and he gently pulled her toward him. She closed her eyes and then felt Jordan's lips on hers for one small moment. And then when he pulled back, he kissed her cheek. "I'll see you around?" "Yeah, we can go out again sometime." "Really?" "Of course. I'll see you. Goodnight, Jordan." Her face was beat red as she turned to head inside. She sat down her keys and purse and played her messages. And went to the fridge. As soon as she heard Dillon's voice, she dropped the milk carton on the ground. "Crap! Dillon, I'm so sorry!" she yelled as if he could hear her through the answering machine. She grabbed her keys again quickly and headed for the door. Someone knocked on the door just as she reached for the doorknob. "Jordan, you forgot something? I'm sorry I have to run out, I promised a friend of mine…" and then she looked up. Dillon was standing against the doorframe with his back against it. "Dillon!" she wrapped her arms around him. "I am so sorry!" He gave her a smile to let her know he wasn't upset. "Come in", she showed him in and shut the door. And then she followed him to the couch, sitting down beside him with her legs beneath her. "I am so…" "Shh", he told her with a smile. "It's fine. I was just worried like hell. I knew you wouldn't stand me up so I knew there had to be a reason…" "Dillon, I had a date tonight." "That Jordan kid?" he asked nonchalantly. "Yes, we went to a movie." "Cool." "You are mad…" "Georgie, I am not mad. Really. I'm…relieved. That you're okay." "Honest?" she asked. "Honest." "By the way, nice coat", he added. "Shut up", she laughed. "Shut up", she laughed. "You'll get it back." "So did this guy try to make a move on you?" Dillon asked. "As a matter of fact he didn't." Georgie said with a smile. "He was very sweet" "Yeah well he better be or he's going to answer to me." Dillon said. Georgie couldn't help but laugh. "What's so funny?" Dillon asked. "I love how you are so protective of me. You're just like the brother I never had." Georgie said. "Well I'll take that as a compliment." Dillon said. "Well good." Georgie said. "Because I mean it; and Dillon I really am sorry about tonight. I didn't' mean to make you worry." "Jones, it's ok." Dillon said. "I just worry when you don't call me with a change of plans. I can't help it…blame it on the brotherly part of me." Dillon said with a smile. "Well thank you for being there for me Dillon, I really do appreciate it. You have no idea how much." Dillon smiled. "Come here you." He said as he pulled her into a hug.

Chapter 6
Georgie invited Dillon over after class the next day. "Yeah, yeah I know you're just trying to make up for ditching me the other day. I see right through you", he told her, heading for her couch. "You hush. I do still feel bad about that." "Well, don't. Because I'm over it." Georgie came back in with some Kool-Aid. "That's like red." "Yeah, so. Cherry." "I do not drink Cherry", he said with a smug. Georgie held it over him, threatening to pour it on him. "Want a shower, Quartemaine? I'd be happy to arrange it." "Hey!" he said, getting up. "Hey yourself. This better be good enough for you, buddy." Dillon maneuvered it out of her hand and sat it on the coffee table. "Come here, you!" Georgie laughed and tried to run, but Dillon caught her and began tickling her. A couple seconds later, there was a knock at her door. "Who could that be?" he asked. "No clue." Georgie went to answer the door while Dillon stood back. Georgie was a beat red when she answered and then she saw Jordan. "Hey, what's up?" "Nothing. Um…you look flushed", he said with a laugh. "Yeah I know, come on in. My friend was being jerk as usual." Jordan walked passed her and she stuck her tongue out at Dillon with her final statement. Dillon and Jordan stood face to face. "Hey." "Hey, man", Dillon replied. "Well", Jordan turned to Georgie. "I was wondering if you wanted to go for a walk around." "Sure! But can Dillon come too?" "Of course. If he wants." Okay now will be the time where I can really figure this guy out, Dillon thought to himself. "I'm in."
10 minutes later, Georgie walked arm in arm with Jordan and Dillon walked on her other side. "Ohh look! The flowers are coming up", she went to smell them, kneeling on the ground. "So", Jordan began, standing with Dillon. "She's great, isn't she?" "Yes, she's the best. And she only deserves the best", Dillon said pointedly, though he was starting to like this guy. Dillon and Jordan began to talk when a dark haired man approached Georgie as she was knelt down. "All those curves, and me with no brakes", he muttered and whistled. Georgie stood and dusted herself off. "What's your name?" he asked. Jordan said "Excuse me" to Dillon and went to Georgie. He approached them just as the guy was saying "Really, it's not premarital sex unless we were planning on getting married." "Hey, why don't you leave her alone?" "I think that's her call", he shot back. "Well, I would appreciate it if you'd back off. I'm with him." "Fine, whatever. I'll see you around." "Hey Georgie, are you ok?" Dillon asked approaching her and Jordan. "Yeah I'm fine." Georgie said. "Are you sure? He didn't touch you or anything did he?" Jordan asked touching her shoulders. Georgie smiled at his concern for her safety. "No he didn't, but thank you for jumping in. If you hadn't been there who knows what might have happened. Thank you." She said giving Jordan a hug. Dillon stood there kinda feeling out of place. Watching Georgie hug Jordan made him get this weird feeling inside of him. He wasn't sure if it was because he wasn't used to her being with a guy or if it was because he still didn't fully trust this guy with his best friend yet. "You ready to go?" Jordan asked Georgie as they pulled out of their hug. "Yeah, let's go." Georgie said with a smile as she took his hand. Georgie took her free hand and reached it out to Dillon. Dillon smiled at her before he reached out and took her hand in his and they started walking on.
"Thank you for walking us back here", she told Jordan. "Yeah, no problem." "Uh…I'm gonna head inside. See ya", Dillon said and went back in. Georgie laughed to herself. "So um, you think that maybe, I can ah…" "Yes, I would like that." 'Okay", he laughed, and leaned in a bit. His lips brushed hers for a second and then he pulled back. "I'll see ya", he whispered. Georgie was left smiling as she headed inside. "So?" Dillon said sitting on her counter in the kitchen. "So? How do you like Jordan?" "He's okay", he mumbled. "Look, I know you felt a little…out of place today. But I wish you wouldn't. I want all of us to get along and have fun together." She stood in front of him. "So are you sure he treats you okay?" She rolled her eyes, smiling. "Yes, Dillon. Why would you even ask me that?" "Look, I can't help it ok? It's not just Jordan, I'd be like this with any other guy dating my best friend. I'm just looking out for you that's all." "I know you are Dillon. But really everything is fine." "Will you promise me something?" "What?" Georgie asked. "The first time he or any other guy doesn't treat you right," he lifted her chin. "You come to me." "I will. I promise." "Okay. Come here", he took her arm and pulled her in for a hug.
"So, wanna hang out this weekend?" Dillon asked Georgie as she fought with her curling iron. "Since you know, you're ah, ditching me tonight." Georgie came out of the bathroom, holding her curling iron above her head. "You know what, don't even make me feel bad because you told me it was perfectly fine that I go out with Jordan tonight." Dillon stood and went to stand beside her in the doorway, as she was about to pull her hair out. "I know, Jones. Lighten up. I'm just messing with you." "Okay, and yes, we'll hang out this weekend. But Fridays are his only nights off." "Fine, but tomorrow you're mine." "Yes, tomorrow…Grrr!" She dropped the bobby pin down the sink. "Why don't you just forget the hair tonight? You're too nervous to do it obviously." Georgie leaned over the sink, hunched over, feeling as though she were about to hurl. "Yeah, well then I'll look like crap. I have to calm down so I can do this." "You don't look like crap. Your hair is like…wavy. It looks nice." "Right. Don't lie to me, Quartemaine." "I'm not, but fine don't believe me." He walked back into her living room and about 20 minutes later, she finally appeared in yet a different outfit and her hair was how she wanted it. "What do you think?" she turned about. "Oh come on! That's the fourth outfit you've tried on." "Does it look okay?" "Yes, you look fine. Just like you looked fine in the last 3 you tried on." "That's all I wanted." She grabbed her keys. "Out, buddy. I'm locking up." "What? I can't stay and find out how it went?" "No, now get out." "Look, Jones", he said lifting her wrist. "You're shaking." "I know", she blushed. "So?" "So? It's like, not healthy…at all. You really like him, huh?" "Yes, now please get out. If you want, I'll stop by your place and tell you how it went as long as you get out now." "Jones, you drive a hard bargain." "I try. Now get!" She pushed him out the door as she followed behind.
~*~ 3 HOURS LATER~*~ "It's right here." Georgie told Jordan. Jordan pulled his truck to a stop in front of Dillon's apartment building. "I don't know about this Georgie, I think I should take you back to your dorm. I don't like the idea of you out here by yourself." "I won't be by myself. I'm going to Dillon's." Georgie told him. "Oh he lives here?" Jordan asked his eyebrows raised." "Yeah. I told him I'd stop by." Georgie said. "Ok then. I'll walk you." Jordan said putting the truck in park. "No, it's ok really I'll be fine." Georgie said. Jordan sat there looking at her contemplating the thought. "All right then." Georgie nodded. "Ok. Goodnight" She said reaching for the door handle. "Hey wait a sec," Jordan said grabbing her wrist. Georgie turned around to see Jordan leaning forward giving her a kiss. She smiled against his lips kissing him back. Seconds later, they broke apart. "Night darling," Jordan said. "Night." Georgie said, opening the door and climbing out of the truck. She gave him one last smile before she started towards the steps of the apartment building. Jordan sat in his truck until he saw her disappear into the building before he drove off. Georgie made her way to Dillon's apartment. She stood at his door for a second before raising her hand and knocking. Seconds later Dillon opened the door. He saw her and got a smile on his face. "Hey there," Dillon said, smiling at her. "Come in." Georgie smiled at him as she quietly walked into his apartment and made her way to the couch, sitting down; all the while not saying a word. She dropped her purse to the floor and brought her hands to her lap, her eyes trained on her hands. Dillon came in with some cappuccino, her favorite. But when he sat it down in front of her, she jumped. "Hey, hey", he said, coming to sit down beside her. "What was that for?" he asked rubbing her back a bit. "Nothing. I was just in a dream world." "Ooh, you mean Jordan world?" "Something like that, yes." "Are you sure you're okay, Georgie? Because I mean…" "Dillon, please. Just…I'm fine." "You sure don't look fine. You don't sound fine either. Did something happen on your date with Jordan?" he asked, resting his hands on hers. "No, it's just that Jordan has been keeping me behind on my studies and I'm worried that I might be failing some classes." "Georgie come here", he coaxed. Georgie moved onto Dillon's lap as she leaned into his chest. "You've only been seeing each other a couple of weeks so I'm sure if you tell him that, he'll understand and give you some space." "Maybe I'll try that", her head was buried in his chest. "Georgie, grades have always been important to you but please, I want to see you smile. That smile brightens up my day no matter what's happened." "I can't, Dillon." "Please?" he asked, tipping her chin up. She tried but she couldn't. "Don't think I'm a geek." "I do not think you're a geek." "Hold me, Dillon? Please?" "I am holding you, Georgie." Georgie shook her head and resituated herself, turning her back towards him and sitting up across his lap on her back and her arms went about his neck, her head rested against his shoulder. "Is this better?" he asked with a smile. "Yes. This is better. This is so better." Georgie sat there holding Dillon when all of a sudden something came over her causing her to cling to him tighter and her eyes to water. Dillon felt Georgie tighten her grip on him and was beginning to get worried at what had Georgie so upset. He knew her and he knew that something was not right. Something happened that she wasn't telling him. But he could clearly see that whatever it was, she wasn't ready to talk about it. So he just decided to do whatever she asks. And right now she wanted him to hold her and so that's what he was going to do. He continued to sit there and hold on tight onto Georgie. He was taken by surprised when her body started to shake with sobs. "Georgie, please tell me what's wrong?" Dillon pleaded. Georgie just shook her head, unable to speak. Right then Dillon made a vow to himself that if it was the last thing he did he was going to find out what was really bothering her.

Chapter 7
That night, when Georgie cried herself asleep against Dillon's chest for reasons that he did not understand, he carefully moved her body down onto the couch and draped the afghan around her body. He found himself sitting across from her in the recliner, watching her. He was trying to retrace every single moment for the passed two weeks, everything from when Georgie first announced that she'd met a guy to that night when she came to him in tears. He retraced her words, her actions, everything. And still, he came up with no other explanation. Although he knew that if her grades were dropping, they would surely bother her. But he also knew that Georgie would study harder and longer, not be this upset and let it bother her to the point of crying herself to sleep over it. Just then, Georgie moaned in her sleep and rolled over. After moving her head from side to side a couple of times, her eyes flew open, and Dillon went to her side and sat down in front of the couch and beside the coffee table. "Georgie?" "Hey", she murmured. "How did you sleep?" "Okay, but I didn't mean to fall asleep. I'm sorry. How late is it?" "It's midnight." "Okay", she rubbed her eyes. "Don't tell me that you're going to expect me to forget all of this? Everything that happened tonight? Don't tell me that, Georgie." "Dillon, please." "No, I want you to stop lying to me. You're my best friend and I know that something is definitely off here." "Dillon, just leave it alone. Please. I can handle this." Dillon sighed, defeated. "Just, please promise me", his palm found hers on the sofa. "Promise me that if things get too out of hand, to where you just can't handle it anymore…" "I know where to find you, I promise", but she didn't sound too convincing as she pulled her hand out from beneath his and sat up, the blanket around her legs as she tried to wake up completely. "Come on", Dillon grabbed his keys. "Come on, I'll take you home." His hand drifted down to her as he stood, and she grabbed onto it as he helped her up off the couch. Leading her to the door, immediately he regretted allowing her to leave his apartment, for there, he was able to protect her. But once they were in that cool night air, and she was back at her dorm, he wasn't so sure he'd be able to protect her quite as easily.
The next day, Georgie walked out of her last class staring at the test paper in her hands. Her face was one of shock. Up on the top of the paper there was a huge D in red marker. "This can't be happening." Georgie said stopping at a nearby bench and plopping down on it. Here eyes remained fixed on that D, staring at it like she was hoping it'd just disappear. "How did this happen?" She asked herself. Just then her cell phone rang. She reached into her bag and pulled it out, hitting the talk button. "Hello?" "Hey you," Dillon said into the phone. "Hi Dillon," Georgie said, sounding a bit out of sorts. "Is everything ok?" Dillon asked, concerned. "Yes, everything is fine. It's just that…" Georgie started. "Nevermind." "No tell me Georgie. What's up?" Dillon asked, practically pleading. "Really Dillon you need to stop worrying I'm fine." Georgie said putting the fake enthusiasm into her voice. "You know you are a terrible liar" Dillon pointed out. "I am not lying." Georgie said just as she saw Jordan walk into the building. "Oh hey Dillon I have to go. I'll call you when I get home." "All right, you better." Dillon said. "Bye" "Bye." Georgie said hanging up the phone just as Jordan walked up to her. Jordan sat down next to her, placing his hand on her knee. "How are you?" "I'm all right." "Are you sure?" "Positive." Jordan's arm snaked about her shoulders, pretending to be stretching. She felt his palm rest on her shoulder blade, gently rubbing it. And then his eyes traveled to her bag. There was a paper in there, the D facing outward. "Is that your test?" he asked. "Um…yeah", Georgie quickly began to shove it forcefully down into her books. "But it's no big deal." "So why don't you want me to see it, then?" "It's fine, really." "No it's not. It's obviously gotten you upset." Georgie sighed. "Okay, so I am a bit of a geek. I didn't want you to know just how seriously I take my grades. I honestly get really worked up if I don't get A's on my tests. I like freak." He smiled, rubbing her shoulder again. "It's cool, Georgie. I respect that you take your grades so seriously." "Thank you", she blushed. Jordan began to lean in, heading for her neck, and as he grazed her earlobe, he whispered, "You're very welcome." And then he began to kiss her neck, nudging her cheek as Georgie's hands drifted to his shoulders. She tried not to moan as he began to gently suck on her neck. "Jordan…" she breathed. "Mmm?" he mumbled, not moving. "Um…you can't. We can't do this here. We're like…in public." "I don't mind. I love showing you off." She felt a flush run to her cheeks. "But I do", she pushed him back by the shoulders with her hands. She saw the look in his eyes, and then she slowly stood, her hand at her side was out for him. And Jordan looked up from her face down her arm, to her extended hand. He gently took it, coming to a stand beside her. Georgie picked up her bag. "No, let me", he took it from her and draped a strap across his shoulder, taking her hand. Georgie led him to her dorm.
About 10 minutes later they approached Georgie's door. Georgie reached into her purse and pulled out her key. "Thanks for walking me," Georgie said as she put the key in the door. "You wanna come in?" Jordan smiled. "I was hoping you'd ask." Georgie just smiled as they headed inside. Georgie threw her bookbag on the couch and plopped down on the couch, putting her head in her hands letting out a huge sigh. "Long day?" Jordan asked. "Oh you have no idea. And it's gonna get even longer with this stupid history test I have to study for," She said as she reached for her bookbag and started to unzip it. "Wait, wait, wait a second." Jordan said, stopping her. "First thing's first." Georgie turned and looked at him with a confused look on her face. "Turn around," Jordan said. Georgie did so, "Jordan what are you…" she started. "Shh," Jordan said as his hands found her shoulders and started to massage them. "To the right a little more, right there. Ahh, Jordan, that feels so good." Jordan continued to massage her shoulders and down her neck. "You're good with your hands", she murmured. Looking down at her shoulders where his hands came to rest for a moment, she touched one of them and brought it to the side of her face. Georgie watched as Jordan walked around and stood in front of her. She slowly stood and Jordan dropped both hands so her waist, grazing her lips with his. He waited for her to kiss him first as her hands snaked around his neck. Holding her waist, he guided her down onto the couch, kissing her a bit more harder and longer than before. He lay on top of her as his fingers went to the buttons on her blouse. And then her phone rang. "Damn it", he sighed against her. Georgie cracked a smile, but Jordan covered her lips with his once again, grabbing her hands and holding them over her head. "Jordan", she broke away from his lips for a moment. "I have to get that." "No you don't", he whispered, trying to get his lips back on hers. Georgie allowed him once more for a moment, but on the fifth ring, she realized that the person wasn't just going to hang up. "Jordan, I have to get it", she sat up a moment and Jordan leaned to the side of the couch, allowing her to get up and answer the phone. "Hello?" she sounded out of breath. "Um, Georgie?" "Yeah?" "You okay? You sound a bit…wore out?" "I'm fine. What is it?" She turned toward the wall, trying to hurry the conversation. "You said you'd call when you got home. I just wanted to make sure you made it there." "You have to stop worrying, I am fine. I promise. And obviously I'm here." "Okay, well do you want to hang out tonight?" She turned to Jordan and saw him watching her, his eyes full of mischief. "Uh, can I call you back on that?" "Sure. You're okay?" "I'm fine. We'll talk soon." "All right, bye." She hung up and headed back over to Jordan. "Who was that, babe?" "Oh just someone from one of my classes," Georgie said sitting back down on the couch, smiling. "Now where were we?" She asked as she snaked her arms around his neck and started to lean in. "I think we were right about here…" Jordan said as their lips met in a sweet kiss.
Georgie stirred awake as she lay on the couch. She felt an arm on her stomach and turned her head to see Jordan sleeping next to her on the couch. She glanced at the clock, seeing that it was already 6:30. She carefully maneuvered herself out from underneath Jordan's arm and headed for the phone. She took it off the cradle and went into her room, closing the door leaving it opened a crack before she dialed Dillon's number. "Hello?" Dillon said into the phone. "Hey it's me." Georgie said. "I was beginning to wonder about you Jones." Dillon said. "Yeah I was hanging with Jordan and I kinda got distracted and then the next thing I know we fell asleep on the couch." Georgie said. "Both of you?" Dillon asked. "Cool it Quartermaine, nothing happened all right." Georgie said, knowing exactly what Dillon was thinking. "I didn't say anything." Dillon said. "Yeah well I know what you're thinking." Georgie said. "Yeah sure you do Jones." Dillon joked. "So are we still going to do something tonight? You wanna maybe come over and watch movies?" "Well actually I have this huge history test I should be studying for and if I don't I'll wind up with another D that I don't need." Georgie said. "Wait a what? A D?" Dillon asked, surprised. "Yeah it's a long story. I'll tell you about it later." Georgie said. "Well I know history's not my best subject, but would you like some help studying?" "YOU'RE going to help me study? This coming from a guy who barely studies his own subjects as it is." Georgie joked. "Hey I study. It just so happens that the film stuff I'm learning now is stuff I already know so it's a breeze for me and really no studying is necessary. Come on Jones, get with it. So do you want my help or not?" "I think I can manage, but if you want to come over and hang out while I'm studying that's cool." "Won't I be a distraction?" "Oh yeah you're so sexy I don't know if I'll be able to control myself." Georgie joked. "Exactly," Dillon said. Georgie couldn't help but laugh. "Sure you can come over. I actually miss hanging out with you when things aren't so hectic. It'd be a good change of pace." Georgie smiled. "All right then it's done. I'll be over in 10 minutes." Dillon said. "Actually would you mind giving me like a half hour before you come over?" Georgie asked. "Why's that?" "Well because Jordan's here and…" Georgie said. "Say no more. I get it. See ya in a half hour Jones." Dillon said. "Great see you then. Bye!" Georgie said. "Bye!' Dillon said hanging up. Georgie hung up her phone and headed back into the living room to see Jordan just waking up on the couch. "Hey", he said with a smile on his face, stretching his arms clear over his head. "Hey." She went to sit by him, and Jordan smiled at her. "What?" she asked. "Nothing." "You sure?" "Yep", he said with a smile. "Okay, well I have to study so um, do you mind…?" "You trying to get rid of me?" "Honestly, yes I am. Because you'll be a distraction for me. Seriously, I won't get anything done. Please?" Jordan sighed and stood, kissing her forehead as he walked passed and grabbed his coat from the loveseat. Georgie stood, straightening out her shirt. "I'm really sorry." "It's fine. I'll see you tomorrow?" "Yep." "K, just come here for a second." Georgie obeyed and stood in front of him. He pulled her against him and then began kissing her neck. "Jordan", she moaned. "Sorry", he replied when he stopped. "I just had to give that luscious neck of yours a taste one more time for the night." Georgie smiled and led him to the door. "Night", he whispered, kissing her lips. "Night." Georgie changed into her pajamas and threw her hair up. After getting out her books and things from her bag and sitting on the couch, she heard a gentle knock and then moments later, Dillon appeared in her doorway. "Hey." "Hey, you." Dillon slid off his jacket and headed to her fridge. "Quartemaine, if you're even thinking of going through my fridge…" she yelled from the living room. "Pipe down, sis", he told her, coming back in and sitting down next to her with an apple in his mouth. "Just getting an apple." "You know what, no wonder I run out of food so fast." "Very funny. Okay", he leaned back next to her, looking over her shoulder and into her book. "So what is it that you need help with? Mind if I see your test?" Georgie got into her bookbag and pulled out the piece of paper that she was not proud of at all and handed it to him. "Ouch", he uttered. Georgie hit him in the arm. "You're supposed to help me study, not make fun of me." "Cool it. I was teasing. Okay, this will be a snap. I know you'll understand this completely when I show you this one sentence." He took her book and began thumbing through the pages. "See this line?" he sat the book in front of her again. "Yeah." "Well, memorize that line. Using the first letter of each word, you'll have that chart memorized." Georgie looked through the material again and it snapped in place. "You seriously rock", she told him. Dillon felt good to see her with that bright and smiling face again. "Okay, let's move on. Okay, so here's what you'll do for this…"
~*~2 HOURS LATER~*~ "Ok that's it…no more!" Georgie said shutting her book. "If I read another sentence about World War 2 I swear I'm gonna scream bloody murder" "Well you seem to have the material down, you should be fine on your test tomorrow." Dillon said as he reached for the remote and turned on her TV. Georgie sat there and smiled at Dillon. "Hey." Dillon turned to face her. "Huh?" "Thank you so much for helping me. You were surprisingly a very big help." Dillon's eyebrows went up. "'Surprisingly'?" Dillon asked. "What exactly do you mean by that?" "I mean I didn't know you knew so many study tips. I mean you'd never guess with…" Georgie trailed off when she saw Dillon turn more toward her. "Go on." Dillon said. Georgie saw the hint of mischief in Dillon's eyes and decided against continuing with her comment. "Nevermind" Georgie said starting to inch off the couch and away from Dillon. "Oh no I don't think so Jones," Dillon said as he pounced forward and started to tickle her sides. "Dillon! Don't! No stop!!" Georgie screamed in laughter.

Chapter 8
A smiling Georgie walked out of her History class. The smile was plastered across her face as she looked over her test. She had gotten a perfect A+. So the only thing to do was find Dillon who she knew would be at his locker at this time. Dillon was going through his books, putting a couple in his bag and replacing the few in his locker. Then he turned to see a very happy Georgie. Smiling to himself, he shut his locker and replaced the lock, slinging his bag across his shoulders. "Hey, what's going on babe?" "You just rock!" she told him, jumping toward him for a hug, tightly holding him against her. Dillon was amused as she pulled away. And then she held up her test for him to see in all its glory. "Take a look." Dillon began to clap for her. "Doesn't surprise me a bit, Jones. I knew you could do it." "Correction, we could do it." She fell into step with him as he began walking to his next class. "You crack me up, Jones. I wasn't there with you when you took the test, it was all you." She stopped him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Yes you were. You were so there. And I want you to know how much I appreciate…" Dillon's eyes wandered over a few lockers away, for Jordan was standing with his side against one of them, his arms folded across his chest. Georgie turned to see what had caught his attention. "Looks like Lover boy isn't too happy." Georgie's eyebrows went up as she saw that Jordan looked pretty mad. "Hey you go ahead and go to class. I want to show Jordan my test." "You sure?" he asked, his palm rested on her shoulder. "I'm sure", she nodded with a smile. "Okay", he patted her back. "Great job, Georgie", he said and headed for class. "Jordan!" she went to him, her test in her hand. "Look at this!" Jordan smiled as he saw her grade. "Wow, that's my girl. You did that all by yourself, I knew you could do it." "Well, actually it wasn't all by myself. Dillon helped me study. He's wonderful, isn't he?" she asked, taking his hand and beginning to walk with him, "Dillon helped you study?" "Yeah, he came over and helped me out a bit." "Well, do you think that we can meet after school, by the benches maybe?" "Sure, is anything wrong?" "No, nothing's wrong. I just want to talk." "Okay, sounds good", she rose up on her tip toes and kissed him softly on the lips for a quick second. "See you then", she called, heading into her next room.
"Hey!" she said with a smile, heading for a hug from Jordan as he waited for her at the benches. "Hey", he hugged her back and sat down next to her. Georgie's arm snaked through his and leaned her head on his chest. "So what did you want to talk about?" "Nothing, I just wanted to see you." Georgie smiled. "Well that's all you had to say." She relaxed against Jordan for a few moments. "Still excited about your A+?" "Yep, I am so excited." "Dillon must be smart too, huh? "When he wants to be", she smiled, teasing. "I was wondering um…" "What is it?" she lifted her head from his shoulder for a moment. "I was wondering, have you and Dillon ever, hooked up?" "Hooked up?" Georgie couldn't help but laugh. "Oh that would never happen. Seriously. Dillon and I are friends. We would never ever think about hooking up." "Oh, well it just seems like you two are kind of um…tight." "Well, that's because he's my best friend." "How did you meet him?" "We've known each other since…Hey, why all this interest in Dillon", she poked him in the sides. "Thought you wanted to see me, not talk about my best friend." "Hey, hey", he laughed. "I did want to see you", he took her in his arms. "I just want to know a little more about you, that's all." "Okay, well he's wonderful. That's all you really need to know. Anymore questions?" "Nope, I don't think so." "Good", she tilted her face up and kissed him sweetly on the lips. "Hey how about we go back to your place and watch a movie or something?" Jordan suggested. Georgie smiled. "I'd like that." "Great," Jordan said with a smile. "Then let's go," he said standing up and holding out his hand to Georgie. Georgie took his hand as they headed off in the direction of her dorm.
"So here we are," Georgie said walking into her dorm and setting her keys and bookbag down before she turned back to face Jordan with a smile on her face. "Come here you" Jordan said with a smile as he grabbed her hand and pulled her to him and kissed her. Georgie giggled when she felt Jordan's lips on hers and then wrapped her arms around his neck deepening the kiss. Seconds later, they broke apart, foreheads resting against each other's. "Wow that was…" Georgie said. "I agree." Jordan finished, smiling at her. "Come on let's go sit down and watch a movie." Georgie said as she took Jordan's hand and headed for the couch. "What do you wanna watch?" Jordan asked as he started for her tapes. "I don't care, just as long as it's not a horror movie, I hate those with a passion." "You do?" Jordan asked. "Why's that?" "I've just never been one for all the blood and guts. And Dillon always likes to make me sit through them and it ends up freaking me out. I think he thinks it's funny to watch me jump." Georgie rambled. "Why don't you tell Dillon you don't like them?" Jordan asked as he picked up the "Air Force One" movie box off her shelf. "Oh he knows, believe me. He just likes to make me suffer." Georgie laughed. "I see," Jordan said putting the tape into the VCR and then moving back to the couch. He sat down and Georgie immediately cuddled next to his side. Jordan's hand fell on her shoulders as he hit play. "What are we watching?" Georgie asked. "'Air Force One'" Jordan replied. "Oh I love this movie. Harrison Ford is awesome in it!" Georgie said. "What about the blood and guts, as you would call them, in this movie?" Jordan asked. "Oh it's not that bad, and besides I usually cover my eyes at that part anyway." Georgie said, turning her attention back to the movie as the credits started on the screen.
Georgie and Jordan were lost in the movie when Georgie's phone rang. "Oh I'll get it." Georgie said reaching for her phone before Jordan could protest. "Hello" "Hey Jones!" Dillon said on the other end. "Hey you!" Georgie said smiling. "How is my favorite study helper doing?" Jordan took his eyes off the movie and glanced at Georgie and couldn't help but notice how happy she was. "Wishing he could take his prize pupil out to celebrate, what do you say?" Dillon asked. "When?" Georgie asked. "Whenever." Dillon said. Georgie glanced over at Jordan, who had turned his attention back to the movie, and then at the movie and realized it was almost over. "Well right now I'm watching a movie with Jordan but it should be over in maybe about an hour or so, what do you say we get together then?" Georgie said into the phone. "Jordan's there?" Dillon asked "Yeah, why?" Georgie asked. "No reason." Dillon said. "You and Jordan don't have plans tonight?" "Not as far as I know…Jordan are we doing anything tonight?" "Well I was kinda hoping that…" Jordan started. "Because Dillon wanted to take me out to celebrate my grade" she continued, not realizing she cut him off due to the excitement that was still flowing through her. "Well I guess that's ok then," Jordan mumbled. "Ok Dillon that's fine. Be here at like…" Georgie started, glancing at the clock seeing it read 4:00, "by like say 6ish?" "Sounds like a plan!" Dillon said. "Great! I'll see you then!" Georgie said. "You got it. Bye" "Bye Dillon" Georgie said with a smile before she hit the end button on the phone and put it back on the cradle. She smiled over at Jordan as she leaned back forward leaning against him. "So where are we at in the movie?" Jordan looked down at Georgie and then turned his attention back to the movie, not even responding.
Georgie's head rested up against Jordan's shoulder, but his arm wasn't around her as it had been before. And as the ending credits rolled, Georgie stood in front of Jordan. "Are you okay?" she asked. "Why do you ask that, babe?" "No reason, you just weren't very…friendly." "You want friendly? Come here", he pulled her down on his lap and she giggled as he brought her lips to hers. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she smiled when they pulled back. "So, I have to get ready. Maybe you should go?" Jordan looked down at his hands. "Yeah, yeah. You're right." Taking her by the sides, he helped her off of him and he grabbed his jacket. "I hope you don't think I am kicking you out or anything", she began as she stood behind him. "I just have to get ready." "I understand. See ya." "See ya", Georgie walked him to the door and watched him go.
Dillon knocked on Georgie's door, and she answered it with a huge smile on her face, still excited from her grade. "Hey you", he began. But she quickly pulled him inside and jumped into his arms. "Whoa there, you okay?" he asked. "Never been better. I'm great." "Okay, you're in a good mood", he said smiling. "Yep", she headed for her purse and went to her closet in the hallway. "You also look very nice", he commented. She wore the shirt that Dillon had bought her for her birthday and some jeans. "Aw, thanks. You too." Dillon's long sleeve, light blue button down and black pants didn't make him feel dressed up, but he'd take it. "Ready?" he asked. "Yep. Let's go."
Dillon parked and they hopped out of the car. Georgie took his hand and ran to the swings. Dillon went behind her and began to push. "This is so awesome", she told him. "What?" "Getting together like this. Just…It's wonderful." "Um…" he wrinkled his eyebrows, "We've been doing this forever, Georgie." "I know, but I mean what if we couldn't anymore?" "Georgie, what brought this on?" "I was just saying." "Right, are you drunk?" he asked. "No, I am not drunk. I'm just…grateful." Dillon pulled back her swing and whispered, "Jones, you're a freak", and then he let her go again. "Oh look over there! There's a carnival!" "Wanna go?" he asked. "Yes! Come on!" she grabbed his hand and led him over to the ferris wheel. "No way", he told her. "Come on, Quartemaine. One ride is not going to scar you for life." "It might scar you if I throw up all over you." "You are such a nerd. Let's go." Before Dillon could protest, she led him up the walk and the man let them in, latching the door. "Holy crap…" Dillon held onto the side. "You suck, Jones. You really suck." "Yes! This rocks! Come on, don't be a baby." "I'm not a baby, I'm just scared of heights." "Like I said, don't be a baby." "Oh my…." "Dillon, give me your hand. You'll be fine." She reached over and pried Dillon's hand off of the side of their car and took it in hers, holding it on her lap. "You'll be fine. I promise. Just don't look down." But Georgie did. She looked down at everyone and waved. "Jones, you're out of your mind." "I know. But you love me", she got in his face and squeezed his cheeks. "Wow, now I know you've lost it." "See now if you just concentrate on bugging the crap out of me, then you'll get through this just fine." "We can only hope…" The ride finally brought them down and Dillon felt half sick as Georgie dragged him to the funhouse. "Oh FUN! Check all this out. Look, Dillon you're like really really short…and fat. Hey, now you know what you'll look like in 10 years." "Jones! I am going to kick your…" Georgie laughed and began to run about and then she ran out of the fun house and Dillon ran after, following her until she stopped in the photo booth. Georgie immediately got out her money and climbed in. "Nope, no pictures. I don't think so." "Quartemaine!" she yelled, and pulled him into the photo booth alongside her. "You know what, people out there are going to think you mauled me, the way you flew me in here like that." "Just shut up and work with me." She got up in his lap as the first picture was loading. "You better smile, Dillon." Minutes later, they both climbed out and waited for the pictures to be developed. Soon, two strips came out and they grabbed them. Immediately, they started cracking up. "Dillon, your hair like almost takes up the whole picture here", she teased. "Oh you know what, you are so in for it. Well, what about here? It looks like you're trying to shove your finger up my nose or something." "Hey, that's only because in this one, you were like trying to put your armpit in my face." "Yeah, yeah." Dillon looked in the last one and realized that was his favorite. "I like this one", he said with a smile. "Which one?" she looked and saw it. Their heads were pressed together, side by side and they were both smiling into the lens. "Yeah, that one's my favorite too", Georgie agreed. "Come on", she linked her arm through his once again and led him around the park a bit more.

Chapter 9
"Bumper cars!!!" Georgie called and then she turned back to Dillon, practically on her hands and knees, begging him to agree. "Oh, please, please?!?" Dillon sighed. "Ugh…let's go." "Yes!" "Okay, Georgie. You just jumped about 6 feet in the air over some bumper cars. Do you realize how strange that is?" "Shut up!" she hit him in the arm. And then linking her arm through his, she led him to the line. "Well, looks like this is a very long line. We can come back later", Dillon began to walk away. "Oh hell no. You're staying right here." "Please, Georgie? I can like, win you a stuffed animal or something." Georgie pinched him, "You are riding the bumper cars…" "Ow, ow, ow." "And you're going to like it, buddy. And if you don't, I am going to pinch a little lower." Dillon's eyes were wide. "Girl, you are totally turning me on right now." "Ew, Dillon!" she shoved him away, laughing. "That one works every time." Finally, they were in the front of the line and Georgie ran to the blue car, Dillon reluctantly went to the red one. "Hey, Quartemaine!" she called. "Prepare to get your butt kicked!" "In your dreams, Jones. I can kick your butt in my sleep." "Let's just get this baby started!" she yelled at the top of her lungs. They felt a huge jerk and then they were off. The tiny cars were moving around and Dillon was already after her. Georgie had to get out of the corner she was in and he wasn't going to make it easy. She was just about out of there when Dillon came at her with a huge smile on his face and rammed her right in the side of her car. "What were you saying, Jones?" "We'll see about that. Prepare to wipe that smile off your face, buddy." She pressed hard on the accelerator and pushed him all the way back in a corner. There was a loud bam and a jerk as Dillon shook his head at this crazy girl. Finally, he broke free and circled around her, hitting her one more time and backed her back in the same corner he had been in moments before. "Dillon, get off me! Let me out of here. This is so not fair, you little punk!" "Right, that's not what you were saying about five minutes ago, huh?" Georgie was trying her hardest to get out of that corner that Dillon had her in. And she was just making progress when it ended. "Damn, you could have had me, Jones. What's it feel like to lose at your own game." "Quartemaine, I was all over you." "Sure, keep telling yourself that", he mumbled. "What was that?" she turned and asked. "Oh nothing, nothing." "You little…" She walked behind him a bit and then jumped on his back. "How did I know I'd be doing this all night." "Because you love me", she told him. "Let's go!" Dillon and Georgie exited the bumper cars with Georgie still on Dillon's back. "Ooh Dillon cotton candy!!" Georgie exclaimed when she saw the cotton candy stand. "Let's go get some" "Uh Jones I don't think you need any of that right now. You're already way hyper as it is." Dillon pointed out. "Ok did we forget whose celebration this was?" Georgie asked as she pinched Dillon's earlobe. "Hey ow!" Dillon exclaimed. "Cotton candy stand or I start to squeeze harder." Georgie threatened. "Ok, ok fine. Geez girl I swear you're gonna tear my ear off one of these days." "Yeah you just remember that when you tell me no next time," Georgie said with a smile as she returned her arms around Dillon's neck. "Let's go horsey!!" Dillon just chuckled as he headed for the cotton candy stand.
Georgie and Dillon sat on a nearby bench sharing a thing of cotton candy. "Mmm…this is so good" Georgie said, putting a piece of the strawberry cotton candy in her mouth. "You ok there Jones?" Dillon asked. "Or do you want me to leave you alone?" "Oh shut it" Georgie said, hitting his shoulder. "You should…" "What?" Dillon asked when he noticed she trailed off. "Oh Dillon don't look now but that girl over at that booth is TOTALLY checking you out" "Where?" Dillon said starting to turn his head to look. "No, I said don't look!" Georgie said hitting his shoulder. "Well how can I tell if I don't look?" Dillon asked "She is, trust me. Hey come on lets go over there and you can win me a stuffed animal like you said." "Who says I even wanna go over there?" Dillon said. "Come on Dillon, please??" Georgie pleaded "Ah fine." Dillon gave in. "Great," Georgie said jumping up. Dillon stood and followed Georgie over to the booth. His eyes met with the girl's at the booth and a smile curled on the girl's lips when she saw him look at her. Georgie approached the booth first followed shortly by Dillon. "Hi can I help you guys?" The girl said with a smile, glancing at Dillon and then averting her eyes. "Uh, yeah he wants to play" Georgie said motioning to Dillon. She pushed him forward toward the booth. Once again Dillon and the girl's eyes met and they both smiled at each other. "So uh…what do I have to do here?" Dillon said, trying his best to relax. "Oh all you have to do is take this bean bag and toss it at those jars and try to knock them all over." The girl explained. "That seems easy enough. Georgie hold this," He said handing Georgie the cotton candy. Georgie took it from him and watched on. "How much is it?" Dillon asked. "Oh uh, 3 dollars," the girl said. "Ok," Dillon said reaching into his back pocket and pulling out his wallet. He took out a 5 and gave it to the girl, who gave him 2 dollars back. Dillon picked up the bean bags and tossed the first one toward the jars and missed by a mile. Georgie started laughing. "Oh nice one there buddy!" "Shut it Jones," Dillon muttered. He picked up the second one and tossed it, getting closer this time but still didn't hit the jars. Dillon's face flushed with embarrassment as the girl smiled at him. "Third time's a charm" Dillon said before he tossed the bean bag and knocked all three jars down on the first shot. "Whoo hoo!" Georgie cheered. "Told ya I'd get them," Dillon said. "Congratulations, you get your choice of one of the big stuffed animals." "Really? Aren't those just for the people who…" Dillon started but stopped when Georgie hit him on the shoulder and gave him a look. Dillon got the hint and turned his attention back to the girl who was giving him a small smile. Dillon smiled back. "Ok, Jones so what do you want?" He said asking Georgie. "Um…I'll take that teddy bear right there," Georgie said pointing to a medium-sized brown teddy bear. The girl went and grabbed the bear and handed it to Georgie. "There you go." "Thank you" Georgie said taking the bear from her. They all stood there for a minute not knowing what to say. They were all interrupted when a little girl came running up to the booth. "Mommy, daddy, I wanna play this!!!!" the little girl cried. Dillon and Georgie looked at the little girl and smiled. "You wanna play?" The girl asked the little girl. "Yes, please." The little girl said. "Ok, well let's wait for your mommy and daddy ok?" The little girl nodded and yelled for her parents to hurry up. The girl looked back up at Dillon who gave her one last smile and then turned and walked away with Georgie by his side. "Dillon what are you thinking?" Georgie asked. "What are you talking about?" Dillon asked. "Why didn't you get her number? She was OBVIOUSLY interested!" "I don't know." Dillon said. "Want me to go get it for you?" Georgie said stopping and starting to head back to the booth. Dillon caught her arm and stopped her. "I don't think so. Just leave it be. Let's go get something to eat I'm starving." "Chicken." Georgie mumbled. "Bite me." Dillon replied.
Dillon parked the car on campus, right beneath Georgie's dorm. "Oh wow", she leaned back against the headrest of the seat, holding her stomach. "I am seriously stuffed." "Same here. I can't believe I ate so much." "Hey", her hand gently smacked his leg. "When we celebrate, we sure celebrate!" Dillon laughed. "Yes, Jones. We sure know how to party." Smiling, she leaned back once again for several moments. "Okay, I have to get upstairs. But I want to get together tomorrow, is that all right?" "Totally. You know the number", he told her. "Great. And thank you. Thank you for celebrating with me. It means a lot." Dillon nodded with a smile and she leaned over the seat, kissing his cheek and as usual, he gave her a kiss on the forehead. "Night." Georgie climbed out and got out her key as she walked up to her room. But when she stuck the key in, she realized that the door hadn't been locked and immediately cursed herself for obviously not locking it. She stepped inside and through her keys down on the counter, taking a deep breath from everything she ate. And then suddenly as she reached over to turn on the light on her nightstand, she remembered that yes, she had indeed locked the door. Because Dillon had picked her up and he would have gone off on her for going away without locking the door. And then as the dim light filled the room, she saw the shadow of a figure sitting on her couch. The head turned her way and the person slowly stood. When the light hit him just right, she saw that it was Jordan. "Oh, Jordan", her hand threw to her chest, letting out the breath she had been holding. "I was so scared. I didn't know it was you for a second there…" He began walking toward her. "Why were you two out so late? It's after 1:00 in the morning. What did you do until 1:00 in the morning, Georgie?" Her heart skipped a beat as he moved closer and closer.
